Huawei p30 pro software issues - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

Ive got some issues i want to confirm im not the only one having with the software...
1. I just dont get some of the notifications from apps ... Im a Clash royale player and i never get notifications when a chest is unlocked etc
pretty annoying, even tho i checked the settings for the app and notifications are enabled. no idea what to do
2. I have some strange guy occasionaly speaking suddenly even when the phone is not touched (happen to speak in spanish)
and im not living in a country that has spanish as main language... just weird and ive no idea how to fix that aswell
3. Google assistant, I cannot enable her when my operation system is set to Hebrew language, even tho i set her to operate in english, the only possibility to enable her is if i change the whole system's language to English, which is quite silly.
4. Bluetooth priority issue, Im a Galaxy watch user aswell, I wanna prioritize my phone to auto connect to my phone when it detects it (that works well), but when im entering my car I want it to give higher priority to my car for music and taking calls, anyone knows if that can be done ?
hopefully ill get some answers here, gonna search for Huawei's forums to bring these up aswell :crying:

Hi, check your notification sounds. There is eventually an app notification configured with a sound that isn't on the phone. Then it comes to this strange behavior. I had the same in russian.

I tried to change it to something in the phone but its not working. Huawei sucks.. So many problems

I had that until I stopped the aggressive app killing process. Go to setting - battery - app auto launch - find the app and take it off auto! Apps behave fine then but at the cost of a bit of battery.

Annoying 4 note notification sound

The sound is 4 progressively higher notes on a xylophone-like wooden or bamboo instrument. Usually plays on unlock, but also randomly throughout the day and night. My default notification sound is silence, so this might be tied to an app or the OS (MM 6.1). I just don't know what it is - other than loud and inconvenient. Any Ideas? This is driving me crazy and waking my wife at night. Thanks.
its an app, 100000%. now your job is to find out which one.
Hi and thanks for the confirmation Simms22. :good: I know. Kinda obvious.
I have gone through settings and turned off most radios thinking it could be tied to an app through BT, GPS, NFC, etc.; a successful connection or location fix. I have also gone through the various apps and checked their notification sound settings too. No dice. Whats worse is that I have gone through all my ringtones and notification sounds and can't find it.
It seems to be tied to the Google Now cards notifications, but if it is, I can't find it. I don't really want to turn those off but I guess that's next. Grrrr.

id still be guessing, but google doesnt have a xylophone-like wooden or bamboo instrument sound on the nexus 6, so i know its not a default sound.
Thanks for the info. Hope I described the sound well enough. I'm mostly deaf in one ear and can't hear out of the other. Misspent youth and all that.
I know the notifications and ringtones I've added. That leaves apps that have brought their own sounds with their install. So it's back to the haystack.
I think I'll let it percolate in the sub-conscience for a while. Besides, I'm way behind on a personal Tasker project. Thanks again. I'll update later with what I find out.

you can enable safe mode. that way you can check if its an app. long press the power button until you get the power off option. then long press on the power off until the safe mode option pops up. if that notification doesn't go off, then its an app. as on safe mode, all apps are disabled.
Flash another ROM. This happened to me on PureNex and when I switched to Chroma it went away.
Sometimes it actually happens once in a while. I'll hear the annoying "do dieu do doo" sound
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I also have this problem. Has anybody found out the cause?
It started a few months ago and I ignored it, but now it is really annoying.
I put my phone into safe mode and it still happens. I assume this means it must be a preloaded app?
I installed a notification history app and nothing is listed when it happens!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Phone says a random number every 10 minutes - never seen before :/

Hey everyone!
My girlfriend has a Galaxy Note 5 (I have the OnePlus 3), recently updated to Android Nougat (recently = 2 weeks ago or so).
Today, all the sudden, her phone has started to say random numbers. I know, sounds weird. It says random numbers every 10 minutes - numbers like 72, 98, 107, 50 (but not in order - it doesn't appear to be a countdown, unless you morph the definition of the word) regardless of internet connection (she tried to keep Wi-Fi and Mobile Data off, it still said a number...).
She did try the obvious basic stuff - clear all recent apps, reboot the phone... No dice! I'm saying she tried, not me, because I'm at work, so...
I asked her to go to the Developer options and show me what apps are running. I'll attach below screenshots of the running services she has on her phone. To me, everything appears to be fine.
Do you have any idea what might cause this? We initially thought it could be Google TTS - since it does sound like it. But there is nothing enabled under Accessibility (as it should be, unless some ghost had turned something on... but no, there is nothing). She even tried to change Google TTS language to French - nope, whatever does this still says random numbers every 10 minutes IN ENGLISH.
I've looked it up on Google... tried various search terms... found nothing relevant. It's as if this is the first time something like this has ever happened.
I'm baffled. And helpless.
Any ideas, please? Thanks in advance!
Nevermind. Turned out it was Samsung Pay.
A Samsung Pay pop-up appeared right as the voice was heard for the 1000th time, and I figured hey... let's look at the permissions for that app (since we can't disable it). Revoked all permissions and... NO MORE VOICE ! YAY !
A factory reset still should be made, I think. Perhaps the upgrade from Marshmallow to Nougat wasn't as smooth as I had thought...
Whoops! The voice still happens. It just didn't happen that one time (after the 10 minutes mark), so we thought it's all good. Now, it's happening at 9 minutes !
She did something a few hours ago. She changed the language of Google TTS to French. But nothing changed. The voice was still saying numbers in English.
Now, after revoking permissions of Samsung Pay, she rebooted the phone & the voice started saying numbers... IN FRENCH.
The best thing about it is that it says that... REGARDLESS OF SOUND MODE ! Priority, silent... It still says them numbers! So, we're gonna have to turn the phone off for the night and perform a reset in the morning, since we'll have to go to bed early.
F*** this s***. Samsung, what the flying f***?!?!?!?!
Yeah... It's still happening...
Did a factory reset... did a settings reset...
Disabled Google TTS, disabled as much as I could of Samsung Pay (blocked notifications & such)... It was okay for a while (a day). Now, it's back!
This is... driving me (/us) nuts! Does anyone know... something... a witch that could help, perhaps...

I'd do that... Actually, I would have slapped a custom ROM on her phone from day 1, but that would have voided the warranty (since, you know, KNOX is such a great & useful thing).
Speaking of KNOX... It trips & dies if you root the device or whatever, but when something as sketchy as this happens (app decides its time has come & starts doing random shenanigans), KNOX is like wha, where? Ugh
For the meantime, my girlfriend has her phone's media volume set to 0 for the most part. I'll take a closer look at her phone tomorrow & see if it happens again (unless it suddenly ran out of numbers to say, it should still be there). If it does, I'll take a "short" video with my phone. From there, this is the plan I was thinking of : another full reset, but this time set everything back from scratch (no automatic restoration of settings / apps / whatever). Just sync contacts & such after setup, then gradually install apps (allowing 1~2 days in between app installs).
Unless... the security update that just arrived today (weighing in at about 70 MB - whereas previous security patches were only 30 MB, wow, this must be something, lol ) changed something...

Formhault, did you ever manage to fix this issue? My mom's phone is doing the same thing and I'm almost desperate enough to buy her a new one
It's TTS!
If anyone is still having this issue, kill Google Text-to-Speech Engine.
When I was having this issue, I narrowed it down to TTS, so I went and force-stopped and then disabled it. The voice immediately stopped. It got re-enabled after some updates, so I killed it again. Now it appears enabled but doesn't dare to speak :victory:

Greats the Fox

The most frustrating silly bugs, makes the Mi 9 a pain to own

This phone was meant to be the best mobile I've ever purchased, but silly things are putting me off. I am only 4 months into ownership, and now looking to part company with my Mi 9 as soon as possible.
1. The data just stops working when the phone loses and regains signal - as covered in a variety of other XDA threads and elsewhere. Makes the phone totally useless to someone like me who does a lot of travelling on underground trains and on motorways - I am missing alerts, messages, emails because of this.
2. The flashlight/torch keeps turning itself on randomly without any user intervention.
3. Since the last update, Google Photos has all the images showing with a crazy contrast level that makes them hard to look at. Again, covered in lots of threads elsewhere including temporary "fixes", but frustrating.
Anything I'm missing?
I'm not in a position to root etc to try other ROMs as I rely heavily on Google Pay which is broken on rooted/unlocked phones. Current ROM 10.2.28.0 (PFAEUXM). Reporting to Xiaomi I might as well just shout my grievances into a well... :crying:
Not judging just having question to
1. Does it not reconnect to the Internet after it lost signal? When I use the underground and loose signal but get out of it it works for me still. Or is your problem different?
2. Did you link the flashlight with the Assistant button?
3. I just checked Google photos but don't see any difference in picture view. How do I see the high contrast you have?
Sincerely a new Xiaomi user
Same version of miui, locked, unrooted.
1. Never had I experienced something like that
2. Never had I experienced something like that
3. Most likely a Google photos issue. After the latest Google app update (not Google photos app) it seems to be fixed.

I agree on 1 and 2
The 3rd bug I experienced also on havoc gsi so I don't really think it is miui specific.
I would add to the list weirdly working auto brightness, on other phones it works way better than on mi9
Also notifications icons limit on statusbar is set incorrectly, fix for that is in beta since month or maybe two but xiaomi prefers to change notch shape rather than fixing bugs in stable rom...
And the last one is more like a visual "glitch" than a bug. statusbar is a little taller than a notch
I don't have any of these bugs (running Revolution OS - modified MIUI stock rom).
Point 3. (as someone already said) disappeared after an update, although the official google support told me it has something to do with the vendor in particular (even though some OnePlus 7 pro devices are affected as well).
Never heard anything like point 1. tbh. I would recommend leaving stock rom behind and either go for xiaomi.eu/revolution OS or some other sort of Rom. Trust me there is way less bloatware and a much better overall experience compared to stock rom.

1. That's correct - it shows full bars and the 4G symbol and you can make and receive calls and texts, but you cannot pass any data until you toggle data off/on or reboot. This is number one bug - what use a communication device that stops communication and you don't know about it. I am confused how it does not affect everyone on this ROM however there are more than enough people saying it is happening to them.
2. Yes, long press of assistant button to toggle flashlight. But it still turns on randomly even when the phone is just sat on the desk!
3. This is fixed apparently by disabling automatic contrast and then reinstalling Google photos - so maybe you won't see this? The symptoms are - open Google Photos, tap on any photo, after a second it changes the contrast of the image so you can barely see it.
1. Even worse: if my Mi 9 loses signal it will never reconnect unless I restart the phone. Happened on Global ROM and Xiaomi.EU ROM.
1. The data/Signal problems are 100% Provider/Region related. If not, everybody would have that same Problem.
2. If you blame the device / Stock Rom why do you come with those problems to xda? Nobody here is working for xiaomi, go to them.
3. If you like xda you should be able to use the search, all of your problems are solved a long time ago and solutions are all over xda. Just search for it.
The way you did it looks like a little child laying under the table crying and kicking around no matter who is around.
1. Can confirm mine definitely doesn't do that, would be horrible if it did, I wholeheartedly agree(miui 10.2.28 PFAEUXM). Then again I only had it for 2 weeks, wouldn't be surprised if something like this would start happening in the future, such is the life of "flagship killers", but I knew the risks when I jumped aboard even though I had the budget for an s10+ or 7 pro.
2.Never had it happen but that sounds like the kind of bug that would definitely be fixed with a minor software update. If the problem has been reoccurring after subsequent updates then a hard reset would be worth a try.
3. Not an app I use.
If you have a warranty then it should be applicable for that signal issue, it should also be easy to reproduce in a competent repair service.
Here is mine...
1. I also experience this sometimes, connection seems lost even though 4g signal is full bar, have to turn on airplane mode to refresh then it will have connection again.
2. Never happened to me..
3. This was fixed now, just update google app and gphotos. It was weird when it was like that, but now it is ok.
1. What's your preferred network type set for? I had all sorts of connection issues on AT&T USA until I switched to GSM/WCMA/LTE. I had it set for LTE Only for the longest time but on a road trip realized that wasn't always possible.
1. Never had that
2. Never had that
You might want to check with your ISP.
Yeah, there are some annoying bugs that im experiencing as well. That shouldnt happen in the flagship line. But on the other hand, there is no better phone i could buy for the money,so i will just wait and hope those bugs will be fixed soon. Otherwise its just great phone and i wouldnt give up this phone just for the camera itself.

Well, you were the one that came here complaining. As he explained you, the signal problems are operator related, otherwise we all would have them, and I can tell you I used 3 different carriers in my country and they all work flawlessly.
Also, those problems you talk about have long been solved, I'd suggest you spend your time searching the forum instead complaining for no reasons.

Get used to this
Almost all xiaomi mi series communities are just horrible and often unacceptable
1. Never had that
2. Same
3. App specific issue - already fixed.
I do have other bugs that annoys me more, like:
1) screens turns on out of the blue, no notification is shown - but if I unlock the phone, I can see that there is a lower priority (not showed on lock screen) notification..
2) when alarm rings, opening the clock app (by clicking on the current time on the widget) does not show the alarm and a stop button, instead I need to pull in notifications and click on the stop action there.
3) android auto: different issues.. sometimes the call app does not appear on the notification area, so I had an issue where android auto disconnected, and I could not disconnect the call. Spotify also does not launch from the car dash, I have to manually open it on my phone. could be app specific, but knowing issues with android auto on other Xiaomi phones, I'm not sure.

I can't find anyone explaining how to fix 1 and 2.
Also, 1 not carrier specific - happens to me on both EE and Vodafone in the UK and other people reporting other various networks Europe wide.
Frankly, I would say if you don't have anything to add, you leave the thread. Or carry on wasting your time replying to things you can't help with, your choice.

Question How bad is your Chinese ROM ?

Cuz mine sucks big time!
It is the worst android experience I have ever had. It's so bad that is ruining my MI11 overall experience.
Few more days untill unlock and I will wait for Global rom because I had Redmi K20 and EU rom was a bit bugy. Also important to know is that it must be flashed over original Chinese rom. If you flash EU rom on Chinese and than Global rom on EU from my experience it will make some bugs and wont work properly.
So needed to stick with this disaster really bad Chinese blocking controlling rom...
Examples: Viber rings , I look at my phone I hear it rings I am looking at it but theres nothing on display.
Whatever settings I adjust it just keep getting back some of his settings.
I use gboard so whenever I switch phone on , or restart device I need to select gboard again. It just bring back his Chinese Sogou keyboard...
Also some weird bug with messenger when chat head is on home screen, when I open conversation it devides display in 2 and bottom part is see trough with home screen...
Also with all the settings like autostart on , battery saver - no restrictions, and lock app in recents I dont get messeges through sometimes. And thats for messenger, WhatsApp, Viber and so on..
Youtube vanced ... It took me 3 days to find proper version that will work without bugs. Its 15.43.32 version and not the black, black one have bugs , and if I update that version start having some weird bugs and all the other yt vanced are just worse..
There's more
My ringtone is some melody that I downloaded and chosed in sound settings, but it rings with MI melody ...
I have 2 networks in my home and it keeps conecting to other network even with forget network chosed and auto connect off...
This morning is the first morning that device stayed on after night. I sleep with airplane mode and every morning till this one the device was swiched off when I wake up and I left it on airplane mode.
Some weird bugs also with display switching off during use of some apps when tilt device or move it somehow...
Theres more but can't remember now so please write your experience.
I am on newest update 12.0.22.
It's really bad.
7h SOT with 60Hz FHD+, Lag after taking a picture in whatsapp, whatsapp notifications appearing multiple times, whatsapp showing numbers / forgetting contact assigns, Permissions get reset, Google Pay is not starting if I try to pay, several notification issues on other apps, not everything is translated to enlgish.
I wanted to go back to my Mate 20 Pro so bad but already sold it on ebay =(
Super bad !!
Also when I listen music over Bluetooth in the car with SoundCloud app it just stop the playback after few minutes , .. killer annoying software !
Its gonna be hard to wait for the global rom
Also, always on display switches off about 10 minutes after it stays in idle even when set to say always on !
Auto britnes not working so good. I have to adjust it all the time ..

Yesterday uper speaker started switching off. After first restart it worked. Than again stoped. Than after second restart id didn't worked and I made a call and that triggered it to wotk. So it must be a software bug....
Yes the CN rom is bad. EU rom is so much better. With EU I haven't had to tweak every app permission as notifications are working properly. Also get the Google feed on the left and everything works - no bugs after 2 weeks of using it.
I was so happy with the EU rom that I donated to the project.
Because there is a wall in China, the Chinese version of the rom is only optimized for Chinese users, not necessarily suitable for foreign
