I have a dual sim chinese edition P7.
I went to change the main (3G) sim card today and the sim slot has become inactve.
It won't register any sim card. The second (2G) slot still works fine.
Any idea how to fix the sim tray?

What do you mean exactly? The L29 has dual SIM and both can use 4G at the same time
I think that it is dual standby, not active sim, but I will check it. I think that when you talk in Sim 1 if someone calls in Sim 2 it will show busy.
From what I have noticed when you talk in Sim 1 the data switches to sim 2.

No. Even if the phone had two SIM readers, a dual SIM version would have an unique IMEI number assigned to both SIM slots; single-SIM phones only have one IMEI number.
My S20 Ultra LTE dual sim keeps detecting a SIM in the second SIM slot which is making the phone lose service. Is there a way to disable the SIM slot permanently or convert the phone through the firmware to single SIM. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
