Purely speculation but it's probably not wired to accommodate that. I put a second SIM card in mine and nothing happened.

I used the galaxy s6 dual sim G9200 for a month before the sim2 stopped working
it says "no network card" , nothing happened to the phone like dropping or going for a swim

Have you tried swapping the working sim card to the other slot, to verify that both slots are working?

the problem is only in slot2, and when i put a sim card in it while the phone is on it asks me to restart to get the sim to work
I would not have expected to be able to hot swap Sims. Did that used to work?
Just slot two, and does it do the same thing with both the Sims you own, or just one?

the point of the hot swap attempt is to see if slot 2 is still read the sim, and it still does
i tried both sims, same problem

I'm on a trip and just purchased a Xiaomi MI5. I have been setting it up with wifi and putting all of my favorite apps on it but thought that I would wait until I get back home before I put my sim card in and start using the phone every day. First impressions are very good but I would like to know why does it have two sim card slots and can you use it with one sim card? Where I purchased the phone they spoke little English so they couldn't answer my question. Thanks.

It is a dual sim phone. You can choose to put 2 sim cards in. Or use it with just one.

My Note8 n950F not is dual sim is only mono sim.
Is possible upgrade to dualsim? Any Mods? I believe the hardware is the same!
I doubt it's the same. In DS you have a hibrid SIM card tray where the second slot is capable of holding SD card or a SIM card. With normal Note 8 you won't be able to add the SIM card in SD card slot.

Is ok question of tray,I change it.
The question is second IMEI !
There is a way but the other sim won't be active unless you activate it. Those dual sim flex cables are available

Hey everyone, apologies if this has been answered but I couldnt find a clear cut explanation from searching.
I have the single sim varient of the phone and I'm aware that its possible to place a second sim via an external cable.
I was wondering if something like this would work for a single sim variant?
It's a product from Simore and its a dual sim hybrid that allows the use of two sim cards and the micro sd card.
It mentions that its made for dual sim but could someone explain to me why it wouldnt work with my model?
Asking before I make the purchase.

Interesting. I use dual sims and mine works fine. Zero issues with either sim thus far. Can you elaborate on your experience and I'll can try to duplicate it?

Out of curiosity, do you have a sim pin set? I do on one of mine, and the phone seemed a little hit and miss at asking for the pin when it was in slot 1, instead, it basically just ignored it.
I've put my pinned sim in slot 2, and my unpinned in slot 1 and everything works fine now.
