Gcam Mode Slow Motion Problem Shutter - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

So, I have Google Cam on my Mi A2 phone...it works 90% perfect. The only problem is with slow motion. When I record in slow motion,there is something like a freeze. The freeze happens random,every 3 or 4 seconds,and lasts for less than a second. The freeze itselfe its not a terrible things,but it happens so many times...It makes the video awful,like when someone play a multiplayer game,and he lags all the time...Any suggestion;

[Q] 4X issues. Camera, youtube, game lags, incoming call screen lag.

Hi, this is David. I have the optimus 4x, and i have to admit that it's one of the best devices i've owned so far, i've just been wondering about a few issues that shouldn't exist with a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. I will list them here and wish anyone could help.
1- The Camera
Not the video focusing issue which is fixed after the V10e update, now it's photos turn. When i open the camera, everything looks sharp and great, but it's not after capturing the photo because when i look at the photo in the gallery, it's somehow out of focus and the picture looks ugly overall. I've tried resetting the camera settings and tried other camera apps but no difference.
2-Game lags
That's something i saw people talking about and they said that these games aren't optimized for Tegra 3 because it was new in the market. So now why they're still lagging, even very basic games like subway surfers.
3-Incoming call screen lag
This screen is represented in two ring buttons (accept or reject) with waves coming out of them, i have to say this screen is very laggy so i can't just swipe my finger to accept the call but i have to do it slowly and wait a second before it's done of accepting the call.
4-Youtube
Sometimes a video lags once or twice in a 5 mins video which doesn't happen when watching other videos in gallery.
Yes, i know that's too much issues but what makes me confused is the device's overall speed when browsing the web and others... Even the benchmarks are showing excellent scores that sometimes beat the HTC one X. So what could be the problem?!
2. - on my , lags also Tegra optimized games ... so LG FW suck ... wait for JB, and after that (if stock dont fix it) come CM
Odd... I've had two different Call screens. One was with the circles to swipe like the S2/S3, the other was with square buttons to tap. Don't remeber in what app I was when the screen changed tho.
I've never noticed the lag in the incoming call screen, or maybe I didn't bother with it. As for YouTube it naever game me issues.

one is when you recieve a call while device is locked (the swype one), the other one is when you recieve the call when it's unlocked (button one)
i have no lag on youtube, gaming is great with a slowdown now-and-then (NFS MW, for example. Vice City played with no lag at all), and camera is as good as any smartphone, even though i didn't quite test it as mmuch as i should've.

Oh I see, I got the button call once when I was messing around with my phone (First day I got it).
Vice City gives me no issues whatsoever, no lag at all just a short audio pause once in a while but hadly noticeble.
NFS works well IF there are only 2-3 card rendered on-screen, otherwise the framerate just drops. I believe it's the reflections... if there would be a way to disable them on other cars and keep them on yours the game would run smooth. Funny how the lag itself gives me a warning.. if framerate drops be sure there's a roadblock ahead.
All the other games I've played so far are smooth (Asphalt 7, NOVA 3, Shadowgun.)
As for the camera, I haven't really tried it. I'm not the photo-taker kind of guy.

I don't know what's wrong with your phone. It's rather odd.
I'm on Stock ICS with v10h (no flashes, no root, I have the phone as I recieved it). I'm halfway trought Asphalt 7 same as for Vice City.
NOVA 3 gave some lag issues on the first level then it stopped. Shadowgun (Specially the second one, the multiplayer) gave me no lag at all, everything is fine.
The one thing that bugs me about the phone currently is the poor battery life. Think that if you have 2150 mAh your battery would last, but nope. It's the poor LG software and bloadware that sucks it up, I might root my phone once JB rools out to get rid of some useless services.

[Q] Video Recording Issue, help?!

Hi,
I'm facing a problem where the Miui camera refuses to save any videos recorded beyond 3 seconds. After completely wiping memory, it works for a few days properly and then the problem resurfaces again. I've done it multiple times and every time it's the same. I've tried both, the developer version as well as the stable version(s) and CM as well, the result is the same. Papercam takes a video just fine but Google Camera, or any other normal Camera app refuses to record any video above 3 seconds. I've attached the logcats for both, a 3 second video and a 10 second video. And this problem is prevalent on both, the front and back cameras. This may not be a mass problem. Would appreciate if a dev guided me in this aspect. Please help?! TIA...
hey man,m also facing same problem. It just freezes while processing it.Its really frustrating as i lost many moments to record during a marvelous trip last month.
can some one here help us out.Is it hardware issue??
I found the bug.. you have to disable "ok Google" recognition..

Super slow motion Short video

Hi,
I'm trying new super slow mo features but i cani record only 3 sec videos... 1 sec before slowmo(normal Speed), 1 sec of slowmo (6sec dilatated) and anoter 1 sec after slowmo (normal speed).
Where is the multi super slow motion?
How can i record a video of only 3 seconds?!?
Is my fault or is very unusable?
anyone with this issue?
That is the duration, no more
Same here.

I try it and its impossible to shoot the action. Very bad implementation... hope upgrade soon
Yes, it seems the ported feature only allows short video. They shouldn't have implemented anything, this is useless
note8 super slow
I also have problem as i got the new update.while every thing is fine with camera only super slow motion has problem. Whenever i tap the record button immediately recording get stopped and it save 1 sec video at gallery that is playable and super slow.i tried cleaning data cash for camera app also factory reset.but problem is same as before.
It's due to Samsung I think. The thing is you can shoot only a short time at 960 fps and that's all.
Samsung limits it voluntary.
I think you guys are misunderstanding this a little, there's a new camera mode called Super Slow Motion, which films very high framerate for a very short time. We still have the normal slow motion mode, which as far as I can tell is still dropping frames, way to go Samsung.
Time to sell up and change brand again...

Question Camera and overheating issues!!!

Hi guys,
do any of you have trouble warming up your phone when recording video?
The last time after 17 minutes of recording, the camera app was turned off with the message that the phone is too hot for further use..https://youtu.be/tyRIFi-bb4Y
Is this normal for long shots?
This was the reason I returned my (Exynos) device. For me it was the front camera that would get hot (so that the phone needed to be put down) after about 5 mins of a video call, but on the few occasions I took some pictures with the main camera the heat was indeed unacceptable. Nothing I did (cache wipes, factory resets, latest firmware etc) removed the issue, so I assumed my device was faulty.
Imo normal cameras overheat when you shoot in 8k (some in 4k) so why phones can't. BTW did you film a fireplace ?
I recorded in 4K30 and I didn't record the fireplace but the TV screen
iPhone 11 it’s not near hot as S21Ultra, even after 20 minutes of filming 4K30.
Nope no issues with my Exynos, never overheated once during video recording. Stays around 35degC.
It's not normal. Try disabling power management.
Try clearing the system cache.
Try a hard reboot (not reset!).
Try clearing cam data.
Do a factory reset if you did a major firmware update otherwise don't.
Track down the cause(s) and correct by either disabling and/or firewall blocking them.
Many system apks like Android, Samsung and Google are prime suspects.
17 minutes of recording could cause the phone to heat up a little..no? it seems normal..

A little not a lot. I've used my 10+ longer then that in warm ambient temperatures and never came close to a thermal shutdown. That's running way too hot...
Turn OFF all apps from background and turn on airplane mode and try again.
When I first got the phone it got extremely hot especially when charging. After having it for several days I can say that there is no issue with heating anymore. I think it just needed to go through a few cycles to balance out

60fps youtube video drops to 30fps when switching to fullscreen mode

Hello everyone.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
The phone decides to drop to 30fps when playing a 60fps video on YouTube, but somehow 60fps seems fine on portrait mode. This goes for YouTube Vanced as well. I also noticed Google Chrome has a noticeable stutter when playing videos on fullscreen. I'm running stable MIUI 12.5.1 Global. Never did any major tinkering like unlocking bootloader or rooting; only tinkering I did was debloating apps. I tried rebooting, turning off battery saver, turning off developer options, reinstalling apps, but the problem still persists.
Here's a video for reference.
Any given suggestions are welcome since I can't find any on the interwebs Thanks!

Thank you! I never thought about dc dimming being the cause. I was starting to believe I was the only one who had this problem. Well, no DC dimming for now til Xiaomi fixes this one lol.

Maybe the analog hardware can't support that fast of frame rate... been nice if they had mentioned that limitation
