Xiaomi Mi9 TE versions and differences - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone!
As far as I know there are two versions of the Transparent Edition Mi9
8/256GB and 12/256GB. The 12GB model was the first one with the difference in the storage and RAM and it has a 7P elements 48mp camera instead of the 6P on regular Mi9 models and it has a bigger aperture one as well with F. 47.
On March 22nd Xiaomi released the 8/256GB TE model which has the same camera tech as a regular Mi9 but it has the B20 LTE modem which is used in Europe.
Does anyone know something about this? Am K true? That the 8/256GB model is the 'global' version of the Mi9 TE?
If anyone knows something about this please let me know!

No band 20 on either TE versions, as far as I'm aware...
Where did you read this?

On some websites written in my mother language (Hungarian). They were totally sure about the B20 in the 8/256GB model

NEM-L51 in europe - LTE 800mhz B20 and 3g 900mhz ?

Hello.
Here is my situation : I just bought a honor 5c in france, from a french vendor.
To my surprise, I received a NEL-L51. Wich I thought was a chinese model that does not support every french frequency. According frequencycheck, or every source I could find over the net, it does NOT have B20 LTE and 3G 900mhz.
However, the seller I bought it from (FNAC) is not a small dodgy reseller. I don't think they would be selling something else than the official model for french market. And It seems that the NEM-L51 the model that is sold everywhere in france.
So I'm trying to understand. Is there a EU version NEM-L51 and a chinese one, with different frequency support ? Did Honor somehow add missing bands to NEM-L51 and stopped selling other models ? Are online specs somehow wrong ?
Eventually, how could I tell wich frequency the phone actually support ?
thanks in advance.

Will K20 Pro work in NZ?

I'm a bit confused, they are going on about the 9t Pro coming out for Global market, but on Aliexpress there is a K20 Pro with 'Global Rom'.
If i was to buy one of these would it not work in New Zealand? I'm really keen on getting this phone but not sure what to buy.
According to this, it works perfectly with my provider 2Degrees

The K20 Pro does not have global network bands. Where it's sold with a global ROM, these are unofficial global ROMs, they do not and cannot add extra lte bands.
The Mi 9T, as well as coming with an official global ROM also had a few extra lte bands unlocked. The Mi 9T Pro will do the same, when it eventually arrives.
Looking at your carrier, it uses bands 3, 7 and 28 (maybe 40 too, but could have been a different NZ carrier). The K20 Pro is missing band 28.
Band 28 is a relatively low frequency band, these can travel further and penetrate obstacles better, before losing significant signal strength and quality. Quite often the low frequency bands are used in rural areas, where masts are spread widely, or major city centres that are very heavily built up.
NZ is a very sparsely populated country, so it's possible band 28 is heavily relied on outside of the town's and cities. But this is only my slightly educated guess. I would suggest doing some more homework on how much of the 2Degree network relies on band 28.
I imagine in and around towns and cities you'll have very little issues, but that's a small percent of the country.
Assuming the Mi 9T Pro will have the same bands as the Mi 9T, then it will come with band 28

It says that 2degrees doesn't use B28, only other carriers in NZ. So that would mean its safe to assume it would work?
Thanks

I checked on Wikipedia, however I was looking at the bands for Spark by mistake. 2Degrees uses 3, 8 and 28.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks?wprov=sfla1
Band 8 is on the K20 Pro and is also a low frequency band. So it could well be that it will work OK. However it is showing that band 8 was added to the 2Degrees network only last year, so might still be wise to see if you can find out how widespread band 8 is used on their network.
Edit:
A bit more reading. The 2Degree website FAQs confirms it uses the above 3 bands. Band 8 was previously used for their 2G network, but was freed up when they turned off 2G, which allowed them to use it for LTE. Maybe that will mean it's use is widespread.
I'm not sure about nz but it works perfectly fine here in Australia. The only band we use in Aus that it's missing is B20 which is very common. But fortunately if you're with Telstra in Aus they don't have any areas that only run on B20 so there's always something for me to connect to. I also live in a rural area.
So my advice is to check different areas all over nz to see what they support. I used a site called cellmapper to do this https://www.cellmapper.net

Not sure about NZ, but in Australia it works. I'm with ALDI mobile which I guess is Telstra.

I've gone ahead and purchased it as of an hour ago excited to get my hands on it, this makes me even more confident as your bands are the same pretty much. Can't wait!

Australia use band 28, not 20.
Global version and chinese version are using same 4G bands so there won't be any problems.

Model numbers/regions - which is which?

My Red Magic 3 arrived yesterday, must say very speedy delivery, 3 days only DHL express to Australia which was excellent.
I'm having trouble identifying the different models though, I've seen reference to a Chinese (CN), Global, EU but also 'NA' versions?
Not sure if some are the same thing? I'm concerned as from what I can tell, the EU version doesn't have LTE Band 28 (which I want) but the NA version does and I'm not sure what version I have other than it was branded NX629J.
https://global.redmagic.gg/pages/red-magic-3-specs (under 'Connectivity')
Can anyone assist please?

Yes but the LTE bands can make a big difference! Two of the major Australian mobile carriers use Band 28 so I'm trying to work out which version of the Red Magic 3 I have and if it has that band.

Try this link
https://global.redmagic.gg/blogs/news/red-magic-3-global-rom-flash-instructions
There is two version of global rom
Us is version 1.11
Europe version is 2.07
Well I have NA version but running EU Rom v2.09....when I run the CN Rom I don't get LTE just 4g. So if you not getting LTE then install your region global Rom.
LTE bands are a hardware limitation, not software, so it won't matter what rom I'm running.
I'm just trying to find out if my model has band 28 or not!
https://www.frequencycheck.com/mode...emium-edition-dual-sim-td-lte-cn-128gb-nx629j
In theory software and hardware, I will tell you In US on CN Rom no LTE just 4g....but on either Global I Get LTE.

Global Version 128Gb - B20 or not??

Anybody with Global Version 128/8Gb can confirm band 20 (800Mhz)
One of colegue on forum have 128Gb from Asus UK and seems like without band 20.
So confused.
Thanks for help.

Only elite and ultimate version have B20. Strix, tencent and global 128GB not.
I'm sat next to my mate, he is on Samsung S9 - band 20 4g Vodafone UK, my direct from asus 128gb uk phone isnt. Even though I'm pretty sure the website says it has b20
Annoying as bought UK vesrion for full coverage and it doesn't do it! EE signal isn't good where I work, guess I'll have to try O2 and see what 4g band they have near by
Here's what ASUS' customer service said:
The ROG Phone II Strix edition does unfortunately not support LTE Band 20. Only the Ultimate and Elite edition does support FDD-LTE band 20, you can check this here: https://www.asus.com/Phone/ROG-Phone-II/Tech-Specs/ under Network Standard.

So unfortunately no B20 for the 128GB version
From asus, but this info is different to their site, it's split into models! But cheeky:!
https://www.asus.com/Phone/ROG-Phone-II/Tech-Specs/
Why sell a phone in the UK that doesn't work!? I should have just bought the cheaper tencent version. Dont like this phone any more, grrrrrr.
Here we go again, asus selling faulty products. What a joke.
I wonder what Kind of bull**** they will create for rog phone 3.
It's my one and only Asus!
Thought I'd take a punt, regret it now
I've put an official complaint in, as the UK site implies it has band 20.
Doubt anything will come of it though.....
Can You share link to Asus website where is this info. I will sent complain as well.

Well ASUS are and absolute joke. Their website has changed, so they know the info was wrong. Link I posted above no longer works.
They said I should have checked the sellers site for the info, not their site, as it's only general information. WTF, you make the phone ASUS, if anyone should have the right info, it's you!
Secondly, I did buy it from Asus site, just a third party fullfiled the order. And they have said they didn't have that information anyway.
So no-one has the correct information apparently!
Who I bought it from said it's too late to send back and if I do, I'll have to pay a restocking fee, no idea what that is, but I asked them anyway.
Just a joke, I bought this on false information that has been taken away now and Asus have said nothing helpful, just they are sorry for any inconvenience.....
I'm so furious.
Can't believe. That can say some seller from Aliexpress. Sorry I'm put wrong info on offer.
But how official ASUS website can be wrong. IT'S JOKE.
Sent from my Mi 9T Pro using Tapatalk
According to ASUS, AliExpress would be more accurate!
Yup, complete joke.
Shame I'll have to keep the phone for a few years now to warranty the cost.....actually, the phone is great, the connectivity is terrible.
Such a shame....
Wait wait wait hol' up. If my carrier supports LTE (4G): 800/1800/2600MHz does that mean I won't be able to use 4G LTE or what???? I was just about ready to buy the global version of this phone.
The phone supposedly supports 1800Mhz (apparently that's gotta be a B3 band) . My question - do certain bands provide more or less coverage or is it all the same? I'm not sure whether I need to have both 800Mhz and 1800Mhz or just one of those bands and I don't want to lose 4G all the time because 800Mhz is more covered than 1800Mhz.
The bands the ROG Phone 2 supports:
GSM: B2, B3, B5, B8
WCDMA: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B8
FDD-LTE: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B28
TDD-LTE: B34, B38, B39, B40, B41
Clarification would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
You'll have to check what bands all the providers use and perhaps a map of where towers are and the band they have there.
Most UK networks are band 20, which is why I'm on 3G 99% of the time

I think you're out of luck my friend. You can flash only 3 regions on an SM-G9980, China - CHC, Taiwan - BRI and Hong Kong - TGY. Of those 3 Hong Kong firmware is the best option. Even if your service provider uses a 5G Band which is included in your device's network configuration it's unlikely to be compatible since the anchors aren't aligned.
