Android 9.0 - Global Beta - Xiaomi Redmi 6A Guides, News, & Discussion

Looks like we have Pie now, no one talking about that it seems. But latest beta came with Android 9.0, I believe. With Dark Mode in Display settings, pretty good.

Also noticed the update. However, I'm quite hesitant at first due to earlier info's that states recruitment is suspended for pie update. How's the update btw? Is there any bugs that might affect a normal day to day usage? Planning to install this rom. Tnx in advance!

Yeah, I though it was weird a swell since they told that they cancelled pie update for 6A, but still, we got this... Everything working perfectly, for me at least...

I'm using it since the day it was released, no major issues. Didn't notice any bugs. Battery life is pretty good as well.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated

Is there any link where we can get the update?

https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-6-redmi-6a-alpha-builds-android-pie/

I tested it, it made my phone run slower and kill background apps. I see no real benefit in updating. The only new feature i noticed is the dark mode.

Does this ROM have AOSP Pie features, like Dashboard, Digital Wellbeing, AI Brightness and Battery, Copying text from Recents screen previews, etc. ? I'm talking about THESE features. Does it have these?

You extract the folder inside the .tgz file then use mi flash tool to flash it.
It didn't have any update, and it doesn't have any new function except for the dark mode.
I installed stock rom rom again because the phone was running slow and killing background apps too frequently.

Need tester
To test the beta rom, xiomi needs beta tester for redmi 6a. Search Google with "redmi 6a pie beta update". I can't paste the link here for restrictions

i wanted to try it and eventually rollback to Oreo : but i can't !
So be careful, cause there are some bugs that make it difficult to use as a daily driver.
For example, brightness is very very low and it's hard to see anything under the sun, hotspot security is useless (makes you hotspot opened)...
I try to flash many other Oreo global official roms without success using mi flash tool. Though it says ok, it's always the same rom that boot (android 9).
Tried to flash twrp , but every version i installed boots on an snowy strange screen (like old tv without canal).
So be careful if it's the only phone you have.

Maybe try using ADB directly instead of MiFlash? Download the command line tools ZIP from here, extract it in the same folder with all the .bat files and execute flash_all.bat while phone is in flashboot.

ah come on, you can use Linux and Windows on the same Machine at the same time. so you bother to move the whole system to a single OS. Even on my laptop i am using Both Linux and Windows 7.

I know that, i'm running as my main system though, for me to install windows i'd have to format my HDD which i only have 1 inside the laptop, either i get usb-sata adaptor that's better than what i have right now or my only option is to format to install linux + windows, however.. on a tight budget and specs 500GB might not be enough for me.
So... a friend's computer it is for the meantime

I have uploaded the files to google drive. First you have to install the apk, then you can download the zip from the app, or just flash the zip that I've included in the folder. It's the same as If you downloaded the latest miui version from the app.
That's good news I can use xposed on the red prime, used with many samsung, though not understand how you install on prime.. Can you PLEASE kindly explain in easy baby language. I see on the google drive there are 2 files, do I flash or install them via twrp? Or install anther way? Please explain how. Thanks so much.

I have just tried it out by myself, so I installed the .apk file (xposed installer) and then you could select the appropriate version and architecture from the available versions in the app (miui, arm64). I uploaded the files (if you don't want to search for the zip in the application then you could just install the apk and flash the zip) in my google drive. I can comment on battery life being a bit less powerful then it was on 8.1.2.0... I can't comment on the others, I don't experience significant performance weakness, neither the signal being poor. I don't use mobile data.

OxygenOS Open Beta 12 (7.1.1) for OnePlus 3

"Hi everyone,
First of all, we want to extend a huge thank you to all of you who have been participating in our beta program. It's been a huge success. By sending in your feedback, bug reports, and general thoughts, you've made OxygenOS even better, and we're making improvements faster than ever before. Today, we have a particularly exciting announcement: Open Beta 12– built on Android Nougat 7.1.1 - is available now for the OnePlus 3.
Key updates in this build:
Upgraded to Android 7.1.1
New Shot on OnePlus wallpaper option
Gallery Improvements
New photo editor with watermark and photo straightening options
Newly added media will be highlighted in Photos section
Image location will be displayed on grid view
Media can be grouped by month and year
Folders and individual media can be hidden
General bug fixes
Known Issues and Fixes
Android pay not able to work on London TFL/Tube
This can be resolved by updating the app via Play store
Compatability issues with certain third party apps
Please visit the download page here:
http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3/oneplus_3_oxygenos_openbeta_12/
If you’ve already flashed a previous Open Beta build, you will receive this update via OTA. If you haven’t, you will need to flash this build by ADB sideload. Your data may transfer, but there is always a possibility of losing personal data, so be sure to backup all of your important data before flashing this build. As stated before, once you flash the Open Beta, you’ll continue getting Open Beta OTAs.
Please follow the link below for the UI/UX experience survey. We’d really appreciate a few minutes of your time, as it will help us make OxygenOS even better. One last thing: this is a limited program, so we may disable this download link once we receive enough feedback.
- Feedback on UI/UX: https://goo.gl/forms/rj3OMW2eywKGoNfI2
Note: If you flash this Open Beta build, you’ll receive Open Beta OTAs (but not official OTAs). You’ll need to manually (clean) flash back to our official builds to continue receiving official OTAs. Rolling back to official OxygenOS versions require wiping data and cache.
Thank you for your patience and as always, we look forward to hearing your continued feedback in the bug reporting forum here: https://forums.oneplus.net/feedback/.
Thank you for helping us build a better OxygenOS.
Never settle."

MIUI 9.1 Global Stable is out for Mi Mix 2! (v 9.1.1.0)

____Update 12/01____
Since a couple of days we now have v 9.1.2.0. I haven't noticed any differences yet, but the wallpaper carousel is functioning again. They also implemented fixes for problems that I personally did not encounter. ...aaand the notifications are slightly improved! Some of them evene expand and allow for direct interaction. Breathtaking development.
Get it while it's fresh on en.miui.com.
Should you not be rooted, I can recommend installing it via XiaoMiTool. I used this to flash the last MIUI 8 Global Stable, and then got 9.1.1.0 and now 9.1.2.0 via OTA. I've read that for some people here fast charging isn't working on th 9-er Firmwares. I have had no problem with that at all. Maybe it's because you guys are rooted, or because system wasn't flashed properly? I don't know, but I feel with you...
____Update 11/16____
The MIUI9 release has since been officially announced. This XDA article sheds some light on the release. However, as of today, the ROM is still not available for download on en.miui.com.
If you don't feel like waiting for OTA hitting you, shadowxaero has provided a link to download 9.1.1.0 (NDEMIEI) in post #7.
To enable VOLTE in presumably every MIUI realease, KevinLuong has shared a great link to an explanation including an easy fix in post #2.
Update 11/17
The Firmware is officially available on en.miui.com now. Should you not be rooted, consider installing it via XiaoMiTool, which will let you chose and download the Firmware within the programs flashing dialogue (give that man a beer).
_____initial post_____
..but there is no mention of it anywhere (yet). Why is that?
It's Version 9.1.1.0 (NDEMIEI). Got it OTA on Friday night, but it isn't even yet listed on the official site. Whats up with that?
Everything seems to run great, except that VOLTE can not be activated, which I find a little weird for a stable release. Oh, and notfications are still not up to scratch in MIUI 9, which is the single most annoying thing about MIUI.
Anyone else on this ROM? Maybe with tips, tricks, htoughts or insights?

Hmm. Why would they do that? I'm not even participating in the user feedback program (at least not willingly ). Usually the nightlys they push out clearly state that they are nightlys, don't they? I saw this with the Mi 6 when it got v 9.0.1.0. In this case on Mix 2 the ROM clearly states "stable" though.
Well, I don't want to complain. I feel special now. :victory:

Yes, I had Global Stable (v8.5.1.0).
It's a global stable beta (stable beta = what exactly??) according to the miui forums. There was an announcement about it. I put a link to the download in the reverse engineering thread.
I haven't actually tried it yet but I would be interested to know if it passes safetynet, I guess.

A user provided that link on the MIUI forums. I haven't flashed it yet and I believe you need to be on the MIUI8 Stable ROM in order to flash this.
Lol whoops, missed this post lol. A user on MIUI also said it passed safety net yesterday.

You can flash it with fastboot, but you have to convert the system to a system.img in order to do so.

It's a global stable beta (stable beta = what exactly??) according to the miui forums. There was an announcement about it. I put a link to the download in the reverse engineering thread.
I haven't actually tried it yet but I would be interested to know if it passes safetynet, I guess.

I used sdat2img.py
https://github.com/xpirt/sdat2img
Use that to make a system.img, flash that with fastboot.
Then flash all of the other partitions with fastboot from the unpacked zip, following the pattern of the Xiaomi fastboot updates so you know which thing needs to be flashed to what.
Kind of difficult to explain and probably not worth putting together a whole tutorial, but that's how you do it.
this build passes safetynet with Magisk 14. I also installed this over Epic rom and not over v8 stable.. works fine anyways. I did format userdata and cache from fastboot before i flashed.

...but there is no mention of it anywhere (yet). Why is that?
Everything seems to run great, except that VOLTE can not be activated, which I find a little weird for a stable release.....

Try disabling VoLTE carrier check with *#*#86583*#*# That did it for me. Make sure the little pop-up screen says disabled
No notification update no fun
Jesus when will it be officially available OTA?
Removed, was already in this thread.
Full ROM Pack Version: V9.1.1.0.NDEMIEI is available now : http://en.miui.com/download-334.html#491

This will most likely not work coming from the developer ROM, but try the regular manual update method:
Download the ROM and copy it to your device. Then go to settings > About Phone > System Update and chose your update package from the extended menu (three dots, top right).
Should the regular method not work, and should your device not be unlocked/rooted, then simply use the XiaoMiTool. If you follow the instructions this program works really really well, so consider donating that guy a beer or two.

phone is unlocked... i cant live without a native adblocker ^^
Thanks...and it seems to work with the updater app it´s in German but it says: all data will be deleted and it make a revert to global stable.
i´ve canceled that, i am not sure whats better, stay on beta and get weekly updates if i want or choose global. it s a hard decission

I'm in the same position
Hi guys,
If you installed the Official MIUI 9.1 Stable can you please report on battery life ?
Regards.

Question Owners of the Chinese version who have upgraded to the European.

Please, everyone who could upgrade your Chinese Mi 11 Ultra to global or European firmware, please describe the sequence of actions:
1) what version of phone you flashed - 8/12/256 or 12/512
2) what soft did you use to unlock bootloader
3) what version of new firmware you choosed - Global or EEA (European)
4) what mode of ref lashing did you use - "three dots" via upgrade menu (recovery) or fastboot
I think this thread will be beer useful for many of us
Thank you
i don't know of a person that has successfully done this yet.

there is none in the whole 52 pages topic on xiaomu.eu? Im also curious about your questions. I wanted to flash my phone in next two days after unlock bootloader.
I done it today, didnt check my version though before flashing. I updated with the OTA yesterday and flashed the latest stable 12.5. There is safetynet issue with that at the moment due to Xiaomi not certifying it but i fixed it with magisk.
Rom is much better

And its better as no Chinese text, everything working android auto etc. My news widget isn't freezing and attachments now work fine. I had issues on Chinese rom

Yeah it's working
V12.5.2.0.RKACNXM is chinese ROM, not EU or global ROM but it's good think to know than even on CN, it's possible to have multi languages and Google apps support integrated.

Isn't safety net broken so Google pay and banking apps? Won't be fixed until Xiaomi does something right??
If true I'd rather stay on China ROM until that if resolved. I have no issues at all with my China ROM.
Good thread ! We need it for now.
So first version of global rom is not safe !
I was reading all that 54 pages and I noticed that you have to update your phone software via phone settings. After that it should be compatible with xiaomi Eu rom (flastboot flashing). Also don’t use that miflash...do it
Via standard command prompt method.
(The XiomiEU Rom is based on a Chinese rom but it have such a big change log is crazy ! Is polished so well that is better than global)
thats what I understood from all that pages....but again I would wait a little bit....

I already updated to the latest OTA; however, I am still left with a Mi 11 Ultra stuck in fastboot.

Hi Axel, got your pm there too. (MobileMadeSimple) I didn't do anything special. Made sure was on latest update. Unlocked bootloader. Skipped through setup etc. Went to fastboot, ran the bat as administrator.
That was it
