[Q] S10 stuck on splash screen - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Hello XDA members,
Recently my S10 randomly rebooted and is since then stuck on the splash screen. It wont let me turn the device off or boot into safe mode, download mode or recovery. It simply is stuck onto the samsung logo screen.
After draining my battery, I tried to charge it but it instantly goes to the splash screen again (not the charging screen) and again, it won't let me boot into any other menus. I tried all the button combinations.
The S10 is 3 days old and has not been modified. It has been updated to the latest may patch.
Any help or suggestions would be appriciated!!
Kind regards,
Samuel

Hi....
Put the phone on the charger and then press Power + Volume Down button and hold it for about 8 seconds until it vibrates ... so you can turn the phone off .
When the phone is off, press the Power + Bixby + Volume Up button and hold it until you enter into recovery mode and then wipe data / factory reset.
If you fail then you must send the phone to repair immediately... Good luck..

Thank you for responding.. Sadly it didnt let me reboot to any mode in any way.. I contacted my service provider and they offered an repair without costs.. So I guess I gotta wait another 2 weeks to enjoy the S10 again

Sorry my friend, I empathize with you. I had a similar situation on my original S9 Plus back when it was originally released and what a bummer - waiting until the replacement came in. All will be forgotten once ou get the replacement and you are able to enjoy the S10 again - so hang in there - Best of luck and I hope you get your replacement soon.

The update is what did it. Samsung just pulled the latest update for causing phones to lockup. I don't know the way forward for you though. With it being a couple of days old I would think that you could go back to the store and get it replaced.

Take out battery 5 seconds put it back in and just try to turn it on
Calm
It won't start, I used the adb.exe to put it into download mode, and tried flashing it! And I think I had a bad flash. Now it won't even start!

OK take the battery out as i said, put it back in, then hold the power button for a few (2-3) seconds and wait like 10 seconds and see if anything is happening
If not take the battery out again and try the Power, Vol Down, and Home for a few seconds and wait
I had difficulties at first too
It could be a technique problem.
Persoanlly, I:
* Hold home and vol down
* Keep them held and add power
* Wait for the download screen before releasing (or galaxy s logo if you are going to fastboot instead).
I can also vouch that the optus SGS works

Tried it does not work!
Battery out, remove the SIM and SDCard.
Wait for a bit then put back the battery only.
Then do the combination. Vol Down + Power On + Home.
The combination works just that sometimes our fingers are pressing one button prior to another and not all at once. Just take it slow and keep trying.
It will work. Patience.
Try not to get frustrated. I have mine from Optus on the $49 Social Cap, but that doesn't matter because ALL OPTUS GALAXY S ARE TOTALLY UNLOCKED AND UNBRANDED. They just have Optus apps on them. =P
As the poster above said, remove the SIM and SD card, and make sure USB is unplugged.
Take the battery out, then put it back in. If you just press the power button then does it go to a black screen with just a small phone and computer icon on it? As this means it can't boot, but it isn't actually bricked.
When I boot into download mode I hold home, then vol, then power (then holding all at once, but starting off with home and vol before pressing power to make sure they're down before it can try to boot normally).
You'll need to take the battery out after each failed try to get the phone to shut off, otherwise it may still be on and of course can't go to Download mode then.
Don't worry, it's extremely hard to brick the Galaxy S. In fact I haven't heard of a single permanent brick yet, as there is always a way into Download mode.
Good luck!

I have advised him of all this on whirlpool...
I don't live to far from him if optus aren't going to be helpful I can try sort it out, I have had the same screen whilst learning all this, and always been able to get to download mode...
I have been having the same problem.
I cannot, no matter what combination, get into download mode on my optus SGS.
I try to hold down, Vol down, home, and power. If i leave all three on, it just keeps rebooting over and over.
If i take the power button off, it just boots normally. Even with the other two kept in. Also, the hard reset (Vol Down, and power) does not do anything either.
I am really starting to believe there is something seriously wrong with it.
you push all the buttons and when the galaxy/optus logo appears take you finger OFF the power button count to 1-1000 (ie one second ) all others buttons are still pressed then repress the power button and hold after the second.
Is the phone bricked?
Can you boot into Android?
I had a similar problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748475
If bricked let it boot to the black screen, leave it until the phone turns off then try to enter DL mode with the key Combo
If not bricked and you can boot to Android, best way is to turn debugging on and use the adb to reboot into download mode
what HSPDA band does that version run?
850/1900/2100 or something else?
Optus version runs
HSDPA
900/1900/2100
EDGE/GPRS
850/900/1800/1900

[Q] My Moto g 2nd gen got switched off while encrypting and now not switching on

Hi
I need urgent HELP.... Its my new Moto G 2nd Generation which I brought around 1 month ago. I was trying to encrypt my phone using the option in settings. It went perfectly fine till it shows 100% . Then it got switched off and now no response. I tried charging it up. Not working. Then tried to get into recovery by pressing power button and Volume + also Power and Volume -. No change. Did I bricked my phone? What shall I do? Its still in warranty, so giving the phone to service center helps?

Did you enter recovery before? Look at the following video and see if you can enter recovery:
Thanks for the reply.....
Thanks for your fast reply. I tried the same method but it didn't work at all. I kept my phone at home and after I came back from my office I just plugged it to give it a try. I guess my battery was fully drained, when I plugged it charging screen appeared. A small hope came and I kept pressing the power button and Volume down for sometime and in between Volume up also. I guess Its my lucky day today, phone booted into recovery screen and I just selected normal power up option and I got all my data back. ..... You don't have an option to take your battery out and put it again. Other wise I won't be facing this situation....... Thanks for all.
you always hard reboot your phone by long pressing power button.

S6 Active won't boot up

So I have been looking for weeks and I have not found a single person with the same problem as I do. Let's start off by saying what's wrong with it. I was on my phone, using it as I usually would when all of the sudden, it crashed and went to the Samsung Galaxy S6 boot up screen (It continued to stay like this forever), by the way, my device is NOT rooted. I'm unable to turn the device off manually so I have to wait for the screen to turn off on its own. When the device is off, holding the power button does absolutely nothing. The only way for the device to turn on is for me to plug it in. The two things I'm able to do is perform a stimulated battery pull (Volume up + Power) and get into download mode (Volume down + Power + Home). I cannot get into recovery mode with the device on or off either (Volume up + Power + Home). I've tried Odin and that doesn't work. It passes, but my device just resets and goes back to the boot screen forever. I've tried Samsung Smart Switch, but cannot do that either due to the program crashing every time I confirm my model number and S/N. I was just wondering if there's any other way I can fix my device on my own without getting a replacement. Thanks.

Is my note 9 bricked?

Hello everybody,
First of all, please forgive my time to time poor english. I tried to fill in my presentation and hope it's ok.
I also want to thanks all the developpers that make a great job to optimise and/or improve stock roms and to help people like me that are not so good in developping.
Let me explain my problem :
I've just bought the Samsung note 9 SM-N960F/DS I was dreaming of.
when I put my sim card inside (a french one) he went on a firmware update, and my phone changed for a french CSC (XEF). Thus, I losed some functions I like, such as SpO2 measure in Samsung Health (I know, it's not so important but...). I couldn't also force the sound in earplugs when phone whas ringing, even by using "Soundabout apk" that was working with my note 4....
I don't know why Samsung changes the available functions regarding the country as we pay the same price for in fact a bunch of functions !!!
I tried to come back to the initial CSC, by flashing an official rom, and following a tutorial on XDA site explaining how to do without rooting, using combination files.
But I certainly made an error as my phone has restarted in a curious mode named "kernel panic upload mode" that I cannot escape. It's impossible to go back to download mode, even with combo like vol down + start button, or other combinations of buttons.
This phone wasn't rooted and i'm afraid now as I don't know how to flash a working rom on it. Whem I use Odin, the flashin fails at beginnig (at setup connection step).
Does somebody have an idea or a solution to fix this phone?
I join some picture of the current state.
Thanks for your answers

Hello Enzyne,
Thanks for your help !
I tried Vol up + Bixby + start, vol down + bixby + start, vol up + start, vol down + start, vol up + vol down + start, but nothing works.
I can't go back to recovery mode nor to download mode...
Odin says "added" but can't setup connection...
Have you flashed with this PC before using Odin? Can you possibly try another PC? Maybe different USB cables just to eliminate possibilities.

I used stock cable, given with the phone.
I gonna try with another one, and on anotehr PC... Maybe will I be lucky... But i'm not optimitic...
It could be that the drivers are no good. It is also possible that you may need a warranty exchange. I'm not aware of any other boot-loader level recovery process besides odin. Maybe even try another version of odin that is known to work with our note 9.

The Kernel Panic Upload Mode doesn't prevent the phone from booting to Recovery.
1. Make sure your phone is completely powered off.
2. Press and hold the Bixby button and the Volume up button.
3. Press and hold the Power button. At this point you should be holding down three buttons. Don't let these go until you see the Recovery screen pop up.
That's really all there is to it. If you have a case that goes over your buttons it's possible you aren't pressing down hard enough for one or more of the buttons to register.

Not to nit-pick,but,when the phone is fully powered down, the simultaneous 3-button push can be released as soon as you see the Note 9 splash screen & the recovery screen should pop-up within a few seconds.
Only reason I mention it is possibly the OP is experiencing issues by holding one or more of the buttons in too long,(just spit-ballin' here on this point)............

Hi Koliosis, and thanks for your help.
In fact, I even cannot power down the phone !!!
The only thing he does except showing kernel panic is to quickly flash on samsung splash screen when I push together vol down and power button, before to go back on panic kernel screen:crying:
No splash screen with bixby + vol up + power buttons combo...
The problem came after a failed flash with combined files (the good ones for my phone, I verified...)
Is there another way to reinitialise the phone except via Odin or Smart switch?

You got me there, I haven't used ODIN since the Note 5 days, LOL. (FWIW, I boot to recovery for cache wipe, otherwise, that's as deep as I've gotten into a Samsung device for quite some time).

I cross all I can !!!:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
To get the Note 9 into download mode, do the following:
Turn the device off. Hold the volume down and Bixby button together and then plug in your USB cable that is attached to your PC. Your phone should go into download mode.
As this requires the phone to be off, you may get lucky once the battery runs out of charge.
Good luck

I've never had an issue with holding the buttons too long, but I have had an issue with not holding them long enough. I let go of the buttons as soon as the Recovery screen comes up and I haven't once had an issue with that. I think he'd have to hold the buttons for several seconds past the Recovery screen booting up before this caused an issue.

Okay, now we're on the same page. You have to be FAST with this.
1. Plug in a charging cable. This will give you the LED charging indicator on your phone.
2. Hold Power+Bixby until the charging indicator turns off. Once the charging indicator turns off you have to be VERY quick with step 3.
3. Press and hold Power+Bixby+Volume Up until you see the Recovery screen.
I was stuck in a bootloop after installing a Magisk module, and this happened to me as well. Every time I would power the phone down it wouldn't stay powered down. I had to be very fast to get into Recovery. It took me a couple of tries to press and hold the buttons quickly enough. That was partially because the case on my phone made pressing the buttons a bit more difficult.

Is there another way to force connection with the PC in order to flash a rom again? Another "magic" application like odin but more powerfull?
The only thing that im aware of is very legacy like QPST. Im not sure if QPST is able to handle the newer phones tho. You can definitely ruin your phone with it too.
Hi again Enzyme
I looked on Google for QPST. But it seems it's only for Qualcom powered phones... mine is Exynos powered. ..

My Nokia 7 Plus does not boot at all or stuck on Android One logo

My phone suddenly restarted and stuck on Android One logo and not booting further. I've turned the phone off and started after few seconds and it was still stuck on Android one logo. Then I've tried to get into recovery mode by pressing Vol Up + Power but it was not working. Also it's not responding to the charger. No battery sign and nothing. It does not respond to power button many times. I've also tried to get into fastboot mode (Vol down + Power) and even it was not working. Please help!
It's not rooted and didn't try to flash/install custom ROM.

Take phone to discharge batttery and automatically turn off. Plug in to charger for few minutes and press and hold volume up,volume down and power for 2/3 minutes. He should be turn off and then you can go in to recovery.
Suffering the same problem.
I'm having the same problem. Exactly what you said. I didn't root my device or even attempt to do anything. I bought Nokia because they were purely stock and delivered some quality mobile phones. I've got only this phone as my daily driver. So tell me if you have got the issue fixed and how much did it cost and how long it took. It's been stuck with that 'android one' logo and a small message that reads 'Download mode' on top. I've tried everything. And what I'm worried about is, my phone's out of warranty and I'm a student. I hope you got it fixed for some reasonable cost. Please reply to me ASAP.
