Ir blaster range sucks - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Seems I have to be within a foot or two of my TV for the IR Blaster to work.
Is this just how it is? Or any hacks, modules etc. To improve it?
I'm using the original slip case I got, if that could be an issue.

In my use case, It has more to do with angle than range. I need it to be facing the TV directly for it to work.
You have to bear in mind that any remote control uses a wide angle LED and this phone might a more narrow aperture.

Hmm maybe. My TV is wall mounted so I need to aim up! Seems like I still need to be close.
Is there no way of boosting it? Assume its hardware. Still nice to have, and useful

I have a mi A1 and it has to be pointed directly to the receiver. So the range doesn't suck.

Compared to the Honor 8s ir blaster it's way better .

That how the IR blaster works, you have to point it toward the receptor, like remotes (not smart tv one that are using wifi)

conserdering buying this device? should l?!

I need ur opinion guys....., is it GREAT CAMERA? I mean leaving every other thing aside is it a good camera cus I already have android devices and I need a good camera
Yes, it's great camera with poor support

I agree, it does take great pictures and has the best LCD screen you can imagine for a camera. But sadly Samsung have lost all interest in supporting it, software features on the Galaxy Zoom and Note 3 are better and run higher version of Android.
If you can get one for a good price then go for it. I still love the camera but wish it would receive updates to fix interface lag issues.

Yes awesome camera, I use it daily and the Android features are a benefit that come in handy more then you may think. I also am disappointed the there has been no support for the camera. I would still buy the camera again, however mabey wait until the new one is released so you at least get a newer version of Android and more features and better chance of support from Samsung. I love this camera so much that I am actually considering purchasing the Galaxy NX instead of a DSLR here soon.
My camera no has dust inside and the image is affected...

Would this camera be a good device for streaming over the ustream app or using to add to a hangout? I want to stream speakers at meetings. Also does it have a mic port for a shotgun mic?

It does not have a mic port.
It does have a mini-HDMI -port, headphones jack (of course) and the default mini-USB -port (2nd of course
Also experiencing that interface lagging and it's quite annoying when you should be able to take a pic fast, without no waiting. I've done 1 factory reset to my device, it helped a bit.
I believe you can use an external mic with an adapter via the headphone jack. You'll need an iphone/ipad mic adapter and then it will work with any standard mic. I know I'm responding to this thread late, but the Galaxy Camera 2 has been out for a while and is already being discounted. It's running Android 4.3 and I'm not really experiencing any interface lag at all. For better battery life and other features I wish it was Kitkat, but JB 4.3 is definitely good enough.

[Q] IR Blasters / Remote

Hello Everyone,
I'm considering coming to the nexus line side. I am not too familiar with the IR blasters for nexus (or how it is in the n6). I'm use to my devices (sammy and lg) coming with a working IR blaster and tv remote...does the nexus line usually have IR blasters for me to atleast download the remotes of the playstore or do I have to wait for custom roms to have that implemented?

IR Blaster, No. The Nexus phones dont have it.
Remote - A few apps that may interact via WiFi such as LG remote for LG TV's etc. But without the physical hardware, I dont see how it would be able to send a command unless WiFi or BT is used.

Oh dang thats a bummer

Moto z Play dont work with Infrared ??

How I can to do for use moto z play with infrared ??
Zaza remote dont work for this model! theres are not mod with IR.
Please Help me,
Thanks you
Christian
MZP doesn't have an infrared transmitter, hence it is unable to work as IR remote control. Consider to buy another phone with infrared in place or some bt or WiFi infrared transmitter.

There was a Moto mod that included an IR blaster and wireless charging that was supposed to be about as thick as a style shell. It was under production in Idigogo, I believe, but haven't seen it lately..

Google home mini...where to start?

Hi guys,
I'm looking to get a Google home mini and use the mini as my controller for smart products I'll be using in my house. I'm only just starting out however have got my eyes on the Phillips hue lights to start with but can they be used with the mini without the need for a hue hub? I'm aware that you can use the normal Google home without the need for the hub.
My smart home will be very Android centric so if an item would be running any particular OS then it would be Android/Google...
Anyway..... should I get the mini or the normal?? What sort of next steps would anyone else take also?
Thanks

Do you have any details about those switches? Have you tried the Phillips hue bulbs?

Swithes I used are Sonoff th16 for the thermostat and sonoff basic for lights and devices. Grate pices of gear and very cheap, look on Youtube, people getting crazy with those ?
I didn't try hue it seems overpriced for me

Ahh yes I've seen the sonoff switches! Cheap and cheerful however I don't like the fact you need to wire them in. I like simple! [emoji3]

Yup wireing is a hassle but very simple with those swithes + there is IFTTT that works with it.
Pretty sure all hue bulbs, light strips etc need a hub to function properly or to be used with any other device. They'll function as a normal light without the hub, that's it. I have 3 bulbs and light strips along with the hub, works wonderfully with my google home. There has to be cheaper alternatives out there though. If I hadn't got all of these hue lights for a gift, I probably wouldn't have bought them. Too much money.

Well that's why I'm confused as I'm sure I read that with the normal Google home you don't need a hub. Think it said it on the Phillips site. As for alternatives oddly enough Ikea do smart bulbs but they don't seem that good.
Sent from my Letv X500 using Tapatalk
TP-Link makes bulbs that does not require a hub at all. Just their local KASA app to install and then link account to google assistant. Google Home Control will work from their ad on as you have it in the Home Control portion of the settings. It's quite easy. Plus they make outlets and dimmer switches. But I enjoy the voice control of the dim level of bulb and color without needing a hub.

IR blaster for Note8

Hi,
I really miss the ir blaster from my note 4.
I've seen different external IR blasters that one can plug into the headphone Jack, or the USB C port. But I don't know if they work on the Note8. I've seen it working on a S8 on YouTube, but Samsung may have disabled something specifically on the Note8 that would prevent the external IR blasters to work. For instance, I've read the Note8 only supports OTG through that chunky USB C to USB adapter Samsung put in the Note8 box.
Please, if you have tested a IR blaster on the Note8 (not on other devices) comment about it, giving the model/brand you use, so that I and others like me know what we should buy.
Just for information, I'm on stock rom, not rooted, international Note8.
Thank you very much in advance for helping this noob that I am.

Hi, you can even make one that has both transmitter and receiver functions and it runs off the earphone jack. Otg is available with ith micro USB too just use a convertor for micro USB to type C.
