double tap to wake phone [SOLVED] - Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Questions & Answers

Hello, I'm having issues with double tap to wake screen on custom ROMs.
I tried different ROMs(rr pie, dotos extended..) and sometimes double tap won't work, this happens randomly sometimes it's working sometimes don't. I tried with custom kernel available in xda and still the same issue occurs .
Anyone facing the same problem or is it just me, is there any way to solve this?
Edit: just perform a full wipe (system, data, cache...) and a fresh installation and now double tap don't work at all. Am I missing something ?

Solved!!!! Miui camera port was the culprit as soon as I uninstalled it dt2w worked again

[Q] [CM11] Reboots with every notification with screen off

Hi there, guys.
I did a wide search in Google/XDA/whatever and didn't manage to find anything related to my problem, so I'm posting it here :good:
My S3 Mini (I8190N) runs flawless and quite smooth on NovaFusion/Maclaw 20140524. Using Gravity Box for enabling navbar (since the I8190N loses its capacitive buttons when changes the kernel) did the trick and fully usable...
Except for one little BIG bug: everytime I receive a notification (Whatsapp, Gmail, FB, SMS, calls, doesn't matter which app) while the screen is off, it reboots. Every. Single. Notification. Cause of this, my battery lasts just a couple of hours, since is rebooting non stop, and I lose a lot of important things (calls, alarms, SMS, you name it)
I tried some things:
- Installing today's NovaFusion release (didn't solved);
- Clean installing 20140524 again (nope) and clean installing today's release (nope again);
- Removing Xposed and Gravity Box (I thought it could be some incompatibility, but nope);
- Disabling lockscreen (to test if the problem was with lockscreen itself, but no).
Following the logic, it appears to be something related to notifications waking up the screen (the phone even vibrates a little before restarting again), but I didn't find any configuration related to this.
So please, anyone? Any advices? Any solutions? This issue is getting me heads off
Strange bug indeed and i have no idea why. The vibration on boot is always there to tell that bootloader boots. Its easier to troubleshoot a black phone that way, according to the service manual.

Since there seem to be issues with the capacitive button lights on your device, I would assume that the problem is with BLN (Back light notification) which activate the capacitive button backlights when you receive a notification and the screen is off.
I would suggest that you check to see if BLN is enabled and disable it. There is a BLN Control App in the Play store :good:

This makes a HUGE sense! :victory:
(still weird, tho, that only the I8190N loses its capacitive buttons on new kernel, but not entering this discussion haha)
Will try this, @Meticulus. Thanks in advance
Download Disable_BLN.zip and flash in recovery. See if it works. My backlight are always off with this flashed.

Thank you! Now it works perfectly fine Finally found the solution after few months, thank you!
Hi guys,
I tried it. It's working perfectly. Hallelujah!
Now I'm discovering the Xposed to do a lot of other things (autohide the navbar, disable the "3-dot" button on apps, etc)
Thank you very much!

Unfortunately, the workaround "patch" is not available anymore :crying:
would it be possible to upload it again anywhere, maybe here?
or is there another possibility to fix that problem yet?

Bugs post Oreo update (Indian version)

Moto key isn't working for me,
Lags on placing calls.... Takes almost 5 second to place the call..... Anyone facing same problems?
Any solutions guys?
did you do a hard reset yet? (return to factory settings)
you should always do it after a big update, to prevent bugs and slowdowns.
Everything working for me. I did a factory reset

Tried it out.... phone calling issue resolved... But still Moto key isn't working
after reset calling issue is fixed but moto key is still not working
moto key is asking for an upgrade and the link to upgrade it needs permission !!! .And i request for it but nothing works !!
I got no bugs after the update and is running well without a reset. Waiting for root to arrive on this
Smart Lock is not working
There is a bug when you press the volume rocker up or down and the notification level will display on top which will stay there unless you tap the screen or turn off the display.
This is annoying as hell when watching videos (especially landscape) coz I still need to tap the screen for it to go away.
Are you guys encountering this issue as well?

[HELP] Mi5 Screen Turn On Randomly With No Reason

Any one here please help me to fix this problem.
My Mi5 screen always turning on randomly with no reason, no notification or something waking up phone like normal.
You can watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQDONn-2mqQ&t=1s or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGRCZSTcLBY to more clearly what happened.
Many users on MiForum discussed about this issue but no one solved.
I had that problem, the solution was(like for many other ppl) disable "wake device" option from the home button, I'm using LOS 16
i have faced this problem. as he suggested bydefault we have option in various custom rom you can do it. if you want to do it in miui roms, or the custom roms which doesnt have it.
if not, than i recommend editing system/usr/gpio-keys file & generic file and add # to home button in both files. reboot . problem will disappear.
a detailed guide is avialable here.

and use this method to enable softkey and disable hardware keys. i have done it. it works great.
Have you enabled Ambient display at: Settings-Display-Advanced-Ambient display?

How to enable dt2w persistently

I just rooted my device and installed lineageOS. Double tap to wake actually works after I've rebooted my device, but after a while it simply stops working and I have no idea why. I would need to reboot again to make it work. LineageOS is keeping the screen on most times anyway (to show the clock) so there shouldn't be a reason for it to not work.

Dt2w and always on display generally dont work great together, at least that was an issue on the Oneplus One back in the days haha.
Try disabling always on display
Did that, still not working.

Question Mi 11 - MIUI 13.0.8 Very weird bug please help.

Hello,
For weeks now i have been trying to figure out a very weird bug on my Mi 11 but i can't seem to find the cause.
What is happening is that the navigation buttons go crazy in some apps. For example when i press on one of the 3 navigation buttons in lets say Edge web browser the buttons register like 10 presses in a single second and send me all the way back to the home screen even though i hit the back button once to try and go one page back.
I thought that maybe there was a hardware problem or a problem with the screen protector but even without one i still have the same issue. And the issue only appears in certain apps or certain places in certain apps. For example in YouTube the home/back/navigate buttons work fine and register a single press until it is playing a video then when i press one it goes mental. I really hope to solve this issue because now i cant navigate back in apps because it just yeets me all the way back to the homescreen with a single press.
Things i have tried with no success
- Change the refresh rate and resolution
- Remove screen protector / clean phone
- Try out different launchers
- Reboot phone
- Remove apps that used a overlay / on screen widgets
- Update to MIUI 13.0.8 i ran the version prior to 13.0.8 and that is where the problem initially started out of nowhere.
I am trying to avoid a factory reset because that would take me a lot of work to get everything back.
I have uploaded a video to make the problem a bit more clear as you can see in the video in Google Play store the buttons function correctly but once i open Edge or Reddit they go crazy.
I just tried Edge and it works fine for me.
But also i got the "official" 13.0.4.
Which ROM do you run with V13.0.8?
And (this seems to be one of the important point for xiaomi devices) did you make once a factory reset after(!) you flashed the ROM?
