Power button issue... - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

When phone has been asleep for a while and I press the power button to wake the phone most times it only wakes after the 3rd or 4th press, any idea why? button is not worn as it works first time when pressing to put phone to sleep, just the awakening that has the issue. And if I put phone to sleep with power button, and then immediately press power button it wakes the phone on first try, but it seems if the phone has been 'asleep' for a while then it takes 3 or 4 attempts to wake phone, not sure why, thanks
does anyone else have this issue?

Cannot just be me surely??

First use a button tester app to make sure is not hardware related. I so also suggest to do a full reset.

Are you on emui? Any deep sleep mods?
Are you rooted?
I've had this when I had AOD on. Could pocket detection be causing it?

Yip think it's some app deep sleep waking issue, will try safe mode and see

newb question: why phone locks when click on power turn off turn on

newb question: why phone locks when click on power turn off turn on. if someone can answer this, can close this thread. Thanks.
I think it basically puts in in hibernate mode.
ok, now when i press power button to sleep and i press the power button to get out of sleep, i get the blank screen. I could hear sounds when pressing the red phone button. I think it's time to reload the rom. I'll uninstall batterystatus and see if it fixes things.
update: batterystatus is the culprit.

Yes, I have noticed quite a few of the battery status apps. can cause slowness and battery drain if not freezing problems.

tired of pressing the power button

My finger hurts since I have to press the power button (small and flat) too many times a day to wake the diamond from sleep. you can argue that I can set the phone not to sleep but sleep is a must to save battery. using all keys to wake it up can cause any keys to be easily hit by accident, which drains battery fast too. Power button is meant to be used rarely, like the PC reset button.
is there a better way to wake up the diamond? is it possible to configure ONLY the OK (center) button to do this? like the iphone, you just press the OK button. it is big and does not hurt as much?
How exactly do you keep pressing the power button till your finger hurts?

hit it once does not hurt but every time it go to sleep and I have to hit the button to wake it up. that is when it hurts.
let say I set it to go to sleep every 40 sec. how many time does it go to sleep in an hours? at least couple times.

I've found that the pressure required on the Power Button can depend on the particular Diamond. I've owned two US Diamonds and the first had a difficult Power Button while the second was much easier. Either way, another option to turn it on is to pull out the stylus a short distance - this will wake the Diamond as well. As far as using the center of the D-Pad - I've no idea . . .

even though using the stylus is less painful but it takes more steps: get finger nail in the gap, pull it out, then push it back in. if you do these steps many time over an hour, it would be tidious task.
On my diamond responsivity of the power button depends strongly on where I'm pressing it. You can try to press it different ways and find out where you get most tactile feedback of the micro-switch. I have the impression that for me it is when I'm pressing from behind, more on the left of it.

I think that would be a very good feature for the phone. I am sure most of us would use it.

Yes, but other keys such as volumn, home, back, answer and end key are also unlocked. Anyway, there are all hardware keys available to press opening the phone in additon to the default on/off button. I am now using this option.
ya but they will complain that all the buttons are unlocked. that method is just TOO easy.
edit: OMG i was right. and too slow. hahaha
maybe next time the phone can get u a beer or work for you...man...
Surely this is the Answer..?
OK, the way I see solving this is to have the phone wait longer before auto-locking.
To sort this, go to the following..
Start\Settings\System\Power\Advanced..
Go to 2nd option - It's a tick Box labelled "Turn off Device if not used for.." and adjust it to suit..
This is found in the manual..?
Cheers,
Phil.

well, it´s maybe less a matter of laziness than of speed, my last phone was a slider ... slide, it wakes up, slide, it goes to sleep - superquick
with the diamond it takes one step more:
I use the option "do not lock buttons" in combination with S2U2, most often I press the ok button and slide to unlock
to put the phone to sleep, I press the power button or use gyrator: I just have to turn the phone face down, than the screen goes off (with S2U2 locking)
hm, maybe I should have bought the diamond pro, but diamond is sexier

power button or battery

ok i have had a tilt for about 2 years now, and since the begining of the week its been giving troubles. i cannot put it in sleep mode(which drains the battery fast), when i press the power button it does nothing. and if it goes in to sleep mode by it self, when i pick it up it awakes and ask if i want to shut it off. any one have this problem or anything similar to it? oh its not a rom problem i have reflashed it twice and changed roms, and problem still presist.
sounds like a hardware malfunction with your powerbutton
there are programs which does what the power button does
http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/01...hutdown-sleep-option-for-your-htc-device.html
but make sure you set wake up on any key in settings
or you have to softreset it to get it to start again

[Q] Home Button

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem, when I click on the home button to wake the phone it takes 4-6 seconds before it takes me to the lock screen. Any thing I can do to fix this?
Thanks

Just a thought, you might want to check apps like my magazine and S voice settings. They both have options to open via double pressing the home button. If these are enabled the home button may delay to see if a second press is coming. (Although 4-6 seconds seems excessive) I disabled that option in those app settings and have no delay when waking using the home button.

What if the s voice settings weren't the problem with home botton before the KitKat update ?

Removed your sdcard and test, if you dont have one nevermind
Does this always take a long time? As in if you have device on and press power button to turn off. Then immediately press the home button. Does it take a long time?
Maybe your device is in a really deep sleep and it needs to wake up. If it is in a deep sleep, that's a good thing. If we had a better kernel we could control the situation better. Unfortunately we can't get one at the moment.

Power Button problem?

Hi,
When I hit the power button it sometimes triggers the double click interaction and opens the camera another time it just restart the phone, this problem also happens in recovery mode (it lock and unlock the screen every few seconds), so I think it´s a hardware issue, have any of you had this problem?
I'm like 90% sure is the power button and not the screen.
Thanks
