I "created" a base rom, MiuiMix, a sort of global, but lighter, that remove boot restrictions (boot is patched) to can use as rom non gsi or as base for gsi.
I tested some GSI n continue to test for more GSI and work on non GSI roms...here r few steps n what u need:
-Flash the twrp
-In Wipe menu choose format data (the one with "yes")
-Flash MiuiMix rom
-Wipe cache/dalvik (if u want stay on MiuiMix just reboot to system)
-Flash img file of Lineage OS img
-(Magisk is optional)
-Reboot to system
Enjoy!!!

Do you mind compressing the Miuimix file a little? Maybe use .xz format or something because downloading a 2GB zip archivs is not really that easy for me at the moment (plus it'll be more effecient overall in the future) also releasing your base rom on github would be amazing and would enable other developers to help. Love the work you've done so far.

I didn't thought before to compress more u r right, next time I'll do... I'm not a developer, I'm a modder in my free time, about GitHub can be an idea, if I boot an aosp without a kernel I'll do. I didn't developed nothing I was lucky to find the way how boot...it helped also some custom miui developer to publish their rom

does it have any bugs?

tried this gsi today, it didnt show the nav bar at all and searching the option in the settings told me to go to the buttons section, but when pressed no option is there to choose onscreen nav buttons (i think it thinks i have on screen keys) also the rounded screen corners cut off some text and over all it unusable. I am gonna flash one more time but idk whats wrong tbh.

Why I can't keep Hotspot always on? It always turned off every 3-5 minutes, even after I unchecked "Turn off Hotspot automatically"

Me too. But for now, the solution is:
1. Go to play store, install "Fluid Navigation Bar"
2. Open the app, enable every permission it requires
3. Use it for easy navigation
4. Install these Magisk Module: "Riru - Core" and "Riru - Edxposed"
5. Before restart, install Edxposed Installer (you can find it from google)
6. Open Edxposed Installer, install "GravityBox [P]", then activate its module
7. Open GravityBox app, go to Navigation Bar, select Master Switch
8. Restart your phone (everytime you install module from Magisk and Edxposed, it require you to restart your phone, but you can restart after you do all steps above to use less time)
9. Open GravityBox app, go to Navigation Bar, and you can configure everything you want about Navbar
10. You can uninstall Fluid Navigation Bar now

JUST FOR FUN...no more no less...
BEWARE, All of these builds are in progress. So, do accept the possible issues.....
Updates will follow when ready
Latest Build : 20180821 ------>latest : A2017X_NitrogenOS-P-20180917
Your device will show "A2017G"...don't worry and ignore
As I am following the Pie (9.0.0) Nitrogen GSI build for MiMix2 and because it’s evolving quite well, I thought to follow up this project and give you updates when ready.
I converted the rom into a flashable twrp zip…easy right
Just follow with me the installation ...
Pre-requirements
*unlocked bootloader
*B12 bootloader / if you're already on it no need to reinstall
*twrp3.2.1-8 treble running
*a proper backup taken !
*installed vendor partition with Miflash
Installation
1. wipe system, vendor, data, cache
2. Install the treble v1.1 from NFound
3. Install my A2017X_9_NitrogenOS_20180821
4. Install the 3 post-sGSI file in order ! and be sure /vendor is mounted
5. Reboot
If first boot won’t start, force reboot. It’ll boot…wait a minute
After installation
*create an account and sync whatever you want to do
*Pie-NFC-fix thnx @kountry83
IMPORTANT : this fix works on other Pies too - up to you to test and see
*if you don’t hear anything when making a call just flash the incall2.zip (mount vendor and system), no need to update gms, reboot, make a call (toggle the loudspeaker in needed)
*there is an inbuild nav bar setup
*if you want to reverse softkey buttons, flash this
*perhaps you need to set your network to 'global' in settings
*rest is up to you....
What’s working by default :
Playstore
FP
Wifi Hotspot
Call (echo as to all PPR1 builds - possible fix with Volte running and some build.prop lines as Kountry83 did...)
BT
Auto-brightness
Personalizations in settings (building up as updates come)
Notifications - on lockscreen
Notification led
Vibration
NFC : works with Pie-NFC-Fix thnx @kountry83
Camera - with camera2api module the level3 is enabled afaik
Magisk 16.7
Adaway
iYTB
No overheating (cpu on normal loads/interactive / 44 C)
No lag
…
Not working :
DT2W
…
Source : https://github.com/nitrogen-project
OS Version: 9.0.0 Pie

Thanks for sharing this rom. Actually, I installed this rom using vendor partition created by Unjustified Dev lineage so no need to Miflash.

Depending on what you do, but tested on build 20180819 and drained battery as PPR1 and having the 5h SOT as before. Guess i'm having a good battery :cyclops:

No tint, at least not on mine. Echo is still there on my phone. For some annoying (as for me) for some it doesnn't. Fix still to come on all PPR1 builds. Hope there will be one soon.
But the progress as to customization is growing. Power menu, custom status bar... future will bring more to that.
Positive on these builds are playstore/services are running by default., camera by default,...
No lag, no heating
So fairly good imo.
Keep you updated !
edit : camera2api module ----> level3
Use the Magisk 5.8.3 unofficial.apk to pass safetynet.
Remove your existing one and install this one.

Very good rom, can be said to be the most 9.0 rom now, please continue to modify, thank you!
This looks like a good working ROM. I have some questions :
1. In the OP, there is no mention of installing GApps. Are they included in the ROM?
2. Do we need to unzip the file to get the image file to install?
The other general question would be the 3 post-sGSI files (step 4). Do we always need to flash these files for every treble ROM we install on Axon 7? Say, if I want to install pixel experience 9.0 treble ROM, should I also flash these 3 files?
Thanks.

1. there's no need to install Gapps. You can as you want to but Play Store is working by default as mentioned in OP . Next build you'll be necessary to install Pico gapps.
2.No need to extract my rom. It's a regular twrp zip
As for the 3post files, do follow the OP's guide when mentioned using them...there's some contradiction though in use of them, even in using them all. For now, here it's necessary. Do try without, you'll see....

So, I don't think Zen UI needs any introduction. Our device shipped with stock AOSP instead of regular Zen UI, as per users demand. However, that left users, who wanted to use Zen UI on this device, sad. But not anymore, since now we have an option to use Zen UI semi-GSI on this device, that too very easily (thanks to TWRP backup created by Vanzell Diamond). For more info, check out screenshots given below.
Features:
ZenUI 5.0 comes with features like a redesigned Settings, wallpaper slideshow on the lock screen, Smart Screen On, Suggested Apps (predicts the app you are likely to use based on contexts), Scheduled Charging, One hand mode, OptiFlex 3.0 for RAM/app optimizations, Game Genie (helps you perform actions like live-streaming and muting alerts), Twin Apps, Face Unlock, and more.
Screenshots:
Prerequisites:
1. The bootloader must be unlocked;
2. TWRP 3.2.3, or any other compatible recovery must be installed;
3. It is recommended that you should be on Android Oreo stock/custom ROM first. If on pie, however, don't worry and follow the steps normally. See FAQs for more info.
Installation Procedure:
1. Download Zen UI 5 TWRP Backup Files (Copy of file in case you're facing quota exceeded error: Click Here).
2. Extract Zen UI 5 X00TD update.zip to TWRP backup folder (inside serial number folder).
Example: emulated/0/TWRP/BACKUP/[SERIAL No]
3. Reboot to TWRP 3.2.3.
4. Wipe System, Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache, Vendor.
5. Select Restore option in TWRP and search for recently extracted files inside BACKUP/[SERIAL No] folder.
6. Restore the backup and reboot back to TWRP (to fix system).
7. Flash Magisk (very important).
8. Reboot to system and profit!
FAQs:
Ques: What do I do if I get stuck on "Verify pattern" screen?
- Follow this.
Ques: What if I get an update?
- See this.
Ques: Help! OTG doesn't work...
- It might not work in ASUS File Manager. Install Es File Explorer.
Customization:
[MOD][Substratum] ZenUI Accents [Android O]
[MOD][Substratum] Center/Left Clock for ZenUI
Bugs:
* BT Audio/Media - Will be fixed soonTM
* Few Zenmotions
* Google drive app seems to have some issues. Idk why.
* If you face lags on first boot, reboot.
Note: If you face issues with stock kernel, use a custom kernel for a smooth experience.

However, if you get stuck on "Verify pattern" screen (aka FRP lock), follow this video (until the reset part). I'll update OP real quick.

So far this ROM is AWESOME. Such an improvement in smoothness over stock. I was having so many visual glitches with the stock one.
Only 2 issues I have so far, are 1. Can't add another google account to device, opens up google account page to add and then crashes (could be with the nikgapps though). I also didn't get prompted to restore from google account on device start (though i'm assuming this is by design?). And then 2. Biometric is a bit slower than stock. Otherwise it's perfect. Thanks again.

Thanks! Yes the first issue is a NikGapps one. The second is not an issue. You can try to learn a fingerprint without moving you finger to much or recalibrate it. For me it is very fast

To recalibrate it you have to be in MIUI. Take a look here (second post):

Hello! Did Verizon worked in stock? Did you tried switching SIM slots? I heard this is a common problem in AOSP so it may never work.

Hello! I didn't understand your problem with AOD, if you refer that you cannot activate it, go to Settings >> PHH Setting > Samsung or Misc settings ( i cant remember ) scroll down then think AOD _ _ _ , then restart device and it should work, same to disable it or you can use the quick settings to deactivate it. The bugs of AOD is that you cannot use FOD in AOD screen and it isn't touch responsive. Related to camera app, no you cannot use stock camera on any AOSP regardless.
just flashed this rom, so far so good, everything worked out the box so far. ill repost if i find any bugs.

Tested and Verizon does not work on this GSI.
The latest version of android 13 has problems with sound
I'm I missing something: how do I possibly get rounded corners on apps when opening and switching? I've tried so many GSIs, and so far only lawnchair 12.1 has that feature as far as I know.
anyone manage to get file transfers working? i still have to boot into twrp to transfer files to and from my phone as the rom doesn't seem to work right when connected to my pc, i get the ding that it's detected but that's it
Hello, i'm a newbie to android modding and custom roms but i want to flash this as i hate OneUI but i have two major concerns
Will i be able to use Google or Samsung Wallet and banking apps (i know that installing custom roms break the know waranty bit?
If i somehow mess up the TWRP or the custom ROM install will i be able to unbrick it?

Installation guide:
Spoiler: Using PE recovery
1. Recommended Samsung firmware version is A705FNXXU5DVK6, but it will work on slightly older versions too.Make sure that the bootloader is unlocked.--
2. Boot the phone into download mode. Flash Pixel Experience recovery through AP button in Odin.Download here. Note: TWRP will not work! It does not support new A13 roms with the latest changes.
Use PE recovery for the best experience, otherwise don't complain if your phone bootloops.
--
3. Boot into recovery (Vol+ and Power while USB is plugged into PC) Note: Samsung's OneUI wipes the custom recovery partition and possibly vbmeta while booting so try not to reboot into Android.
--
4. Format data and system in the recovery--
5. Flash the rom in "Apply update" menu. There are 2 ways to install:
On the phone: Copy the zip to a FAT32-formatted microSD card and install it in recovery.
With a PC: Use Minimal ADB on Windows. Open "cmd-here" and type
Code:
adb sideload <rom-file>
where <rom-file> is the filename (drag-and-drop the zip file into cmd window).
--
6. (Optional) If you want superuser access, flash Magisk in the same way that you flashed the rom.We now have a working ramdisk so newest Magisk works fine ^^
--
7. Reboot and enjoy
Downloads:(Update recovery and clean flash if coming from 2023.01.04!)

So far so good on the a70(sm-a705mn), I just made the installation without problems, thank you very much for continuing to create roms for the a70q, now only remains to test the pixel experience rom.
Working well on (SM-705GM). No issues except screen gets brighter while unlocking device. Easy and Quick installation. Excellent installation guide. Thanks for this rom.
Came from the crDroid A12 GSI. This is such a lovely ROM. Really impressed, working fine and fingerprint is better than the official Samsung ROM. Great stuff. The hardware on this phone is still great and Samsung ditching it at Android 11 seems like such a waste.
New update is out, fixing a battery drain issue and homescreen stutters.
Unfortunately, it requires a recovery update and a clean flash due to filesystem-related changes, so please back up your data (for example make a google backup) before updating!
Upgrade process is basically: reflash new recovery, wipe data, flash the .zip, like in install guide.
This shouldn't be an issue in the future builds, sorry for the inconvenience.

GSIs are pretty terrible from my experience, so I feel like actually porting the rom is worth the effort.
It's crazy how this rom is so smooth. Well done
The ROM is awesome.. very good work
The bugs are:
1- screen of FOD not working
2- vibration on answering and ending calls not working .. I am not sure if it was working on other ROM versions ..
Thumbs up..

Loving the ROM, works great.
Sorry to be nitpicky but could you fix the aliasing on the rounded corners. Think it's in a file called dimens.xml. Just needs a proper rounded corner value set I think. It'll also make the Google Assistant swipe animation follow the rounded corners.
I can't remember off the top of my head on how I fixed it for the A50 but I believe I removed the separate top and bottom values and replaced them with just rounded_corner_radius.

Oh, unfortunate. Android Auto support on custom roms has always been kind of hit-and-miss anyways, on many devices across many different roms. It's not that high of a priority for rom devs. Either way I can't test that since my stereo doesn't have AA

Sounds like either an issue with your phone or the way you install stuff. What's the model? (SM-A705XX)
