I've installed it yesterday, so I have little to say so far. Security updates are from September 2018. I've installed 17 apps. Performance and battery life are average, for now it runs quite stable (no overheating, no sudden reboots and freezes). Only sometimes (very rarely) I get "settings are not responding" error, when I try to browse it. There are dozens of options to customize (Ashes panel). I'm going to use this this ROM for a few more days to test it.

I've installed 20 apps.
Usage: Internet only.
OK, so after couple of days, this ROM works rather stable for me. Just like I've said earlier, security updates are old (October 2018). Overal performance and battery life are average (PixysOS V1 Oreo ROM for S3 is faster - probably because is VERY slim, and LOS14.1 has better battery life).
This ROM has so-called "Ashes panel" which contain a dozen or so options to customize. But unfortunitly for me, the ROM itself and the panel lacks option to remap hardware buttons. So, there is no working hardware "recents apps" button, which is bad news for me. But there is option to turn on the navigation bar, where it is possible to set "recent apps" virtual button. Unfortunately, for me, the navigation panel is broken. This bug is weird. After I turned on navbar, and reboot the phone, 10 seconds after the system was loaded, the screen went black... but the touch panel was still working!! Because when I pressed power button for 2 seconds, the vibrations told me that the menu appear, and when I blindly pressed "turn off" option (I didn't see it, I just knew where it was), the phone turns off. I thought I'll need to flash this ROM again to get rid of navbar, but somehow I was able to get into the control panel very quickly and disable navbar before screen went black. I don't know if it's only broken on my phone or on other S3s too.
Anyway, this was the most serious bug I've encounter while testing this ROM. Apart of that, like I've said before, when I browse settings, sometimes (very rarely) I got error: "settings are not responding". And also one of the two built camera apps (not that black one) sometimes is acting crazy, like when I tried to take a panoramic photo, and the camera went nuts and started to snap pictures on its own! LOL. It was soooo funny, and also scary LOL.
So apart of broken (for me) navbar, I guess this ROM is OK for daily work (for me), I'm using my phone for: browsing Instagram, Facebook and VKontakte, using Chrome and Google News, checking weather and play store, sometimes for maps and GPS tracker for walk/bike, sometimes to listening to DI.FM radio, taking photos and videos, and some minor operation on files. During these few days, I never got sudden reboot or freeze (and I have not installed "go mode"), also no overheating. :good:

SMS configuration
Hi, I've installed yesterday the ROM and it works flawlessy so far but I've not find the way to configure device to Send/Recieve the SMS.
It's not a matter of SIM because the same SIM on another device works as aspected.
How to set/configure the device for the SMS service?
Regards,
Marco

Random reboot
Home button not Wake up while display off

I came back to this ROM and I noticed that RAM management with android_lowram_enabler AKA "go mode" is much worse than without, which makes the ROM unstable. This is weird, because it's not supposed to be in this way (I guess). Maybe this "go mode" is not optimized for S3, maybe there are some conflicts, I don't know. Maybe my phone's broken (I doubt it!).
All I know is this, without "go mode", even with heavy load and switching between apps, each one was stable. But with "go mode", the amount of RAM drops veeeeery quickly, and apps become unstable, which leads to reboots.
I'm monitoring RAM with app called "RAM Monitor", it has flowing interface, so I can see exactly how much of free RAM is available at any time. When I installed my set of apps, and I used them, after a few hours, with "go mode" it was only 100-150 MB free RAM, and if I started to open apps, they started to be unstable. So I've cleared out everything - made a clean ROM install, then I installed everything again, and without "go mode", under the same conditions, it was 250-300MB Yes, that's twice. I've checked it all out a couple of times. This is not a one-time observation.
But it all really doesn't matter This is the same as the Viper v5.2 Oreo ROM.
With "go mode", no sudden, itself reboots, but very unstable behavior of some applications, bad RAM management.
Without "go mode", the system can reboot itself at any time, but the apps are working fine, very good RAM management. Tonight, late at night, after just few hours of working, it started to reboot to recovery mode.
So that leaves me with PixysOS V1, which so far is the most stable Oreo ROM for S3 I've tested. Probably because it's so incredibly bare bone

-for random reboot fix use android go mode and enable zram on kernel manager
-home to wake option not include in this rom because this rom dont have this feature.

Hi, I've just installed this ROM and it's working really well (better than any other I tried on the S3) but the call screen doesn't work. I can still make and recieve calls but the screen is black the whole time so I can't use speaker or keypad during a call. I can't even hang up. Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,
J

On this rom works hotspot? Thanks

Hybrid Properties – DPI / Layout / Colors
Settings / Hybrid Properties / (swipe right)
Interface – Here you can define your workspace layout and assign global properties (Phone UI / Phablet UI / Tablet UI).
Apps that have been set up manually will override global properties. These are simply preset options available to the user as a base.
Apps – Define individual properties to customize how the app displays. These settings apply only to the selected app.
Lock Screen - The lock screen is controlled by the "Android System" app. Make changes to this app to control DPI, Layout and Color.
Apps - Size vs Layout
Size allows you to change the DPI of the selected app
Layout changes the outlook of the app by defining which screen size it should use (changes may be slight or drastic, this is up to the app)
When layout is adjusted, sometimes you may have to adjust the size to make sure items fit neatly.
Colors
Settings - Hybrid Properties - Interface - GLOBAL COLOR (enable)
For every app installed (system apps & user app) you can set individual colors for the status bar and navigation bar. This can be done globally or on a per app basis. In order to enable hybrid colors you MUST enable per app color
Color - Transparent Status bar/Navigation bar
Transparency for both the status bar an nav bar should be set only on the launcher (default launcher or installed launcher of choice). Setting transparency on some individual apps will return "garbage" as apps don't draw under the status and nav bar. It's best to set a solid color for the status bar or nav bar in individual apps.
Color - PIE Colors
PIE color is based on status icon color, navigation glow color and navigation button color.

Expert Mode – this gives you deeper control over the hybrid engine. Options included are overall DPI and UI settings and extra options per-app.
Once expert mode is selected, under the interface option you would now have access to the lockscreen slider and Global Apps control.
The lockscreen slider allows you to change the DPI of your lockscreen, while the global apps section allows you to change the settings for all system apps or user app at once.
On a per-app bases you now have an extra menu with three options when expert mode is enabled (Expand / Force / Large)
Expand – displays app in full screen mode
Force – force scaling through other hosts such as widgets
Large – Force app to display as though it were displaying for a large tablet
I think everyone pretty much understands Expand.
Force
In short, it allows widgets to succumb to hybrid properties.
Widgets depend on the launcher to define its size/layout parameters. So normally, even if you setup an app to follow a custom layout, the widget ignores these scaling values and uses its default settings as dictated by the launcher. Force allows you to override this system and the hybrid values of the app would be forced on to the widget.
Use this feature cautiously and enable it only if you need it.
Large
Sometimes, changing the layout of an app to Tablet UI isn't enough to actually change the layout of the app. For such apps, enable the large screen option to see the difference.
For some apps, enabling Large give it a whole new layout, additional to the available layout options.
Again, use this option only if needed.

Expanded Desktop Mode (Full Screen Pie Mode)
Long press the power button and select Full Screen (PIE) – this removes your status bar and navigation bar and activates the PIE controls. All screen real estate is utilized without stretching or distorting your homescreen.
The stock Paranoid Android launcher has the option to use a pinch gesture to toggle this mode.
There is also a quick setting PIE tile to toggle PIE mode
- To activate PIE without activating Full Screen mode (PIE and status bar at the same time), you need to set your nav bar to 0%. Do this by going into
Settings -> Hybrid Properties -> (swipe right) -> Interface -> (slide nav bar to 0%).
Because the status bar is still visible, PIE will not show status information when activated like this as such information would be redundant.
Reserved
Paranoid Android - Main Features
PIE is an unobtrusive replacement for the stock on-screen navigation buttons. It stays hidden off-screen, only to be brought to life by a predefined gesture. PIE can be manifested on all four sides of the devices.
PIE isn't just about a new navigation experience, either – it also offers customizable colors, status information (like clock, date, et cetera), notifications, and toggles. One nice thing about PIE is that it's dynamic, meaning its size will be defined by the device's dpi; in other words, you won't see a stretched phone UI on a tablet.
Hybrid Mode
This Rom features true Hybrid Mode… it lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even system components individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app (Lockscreen, navigation bar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets and your regular apps of course).
Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
For every element that you like, chose a mode (Phone UI, Phablet UI, Tablet UI) and/or a size. Regardless of the mode selected, you are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to.
You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot.
What is DPI?
Dots Per Inch. As the name defines, DPI is the number of dots per inch of a screen.
In PA, we can modify DPI of any & every app or service independently.
Lower DPI value, would cause a general shrinkage, & higher DPI value, would cause the app to get bigger.
In general, we have a few standard DPI values:
xHDPI: 320 DPI | HDPI: 240 DPI | MDPI: 160 DPI | LDPI: 120 DPI
Per App Color
Part of the Hybrid Engine allows you to color the status bar and navigation bar for individual apps. This completely transforms the user interface and allows for customization on a completely different level.
HALO (2.0)
What this update brings...
Version 2.0 of HALO retains all the original functionality of HALO as described below, with the added bonus of
1. The actual notification is displayed as opposed to just the notification text
2. As a result of point 1, some apps can provide you with a "richer" notification experience (notification widgets).
The most common use of notification widgets would be found in music apps, however, any app can create this type of notification.
Remember, this is dependent on the app itself. HALO does not control this behavior and is not responsible for creating the widget.
As long as the feature is supported by the app however, it can be displayed in HALO without the need for any additional HALO configurations.
These notification widgets can be interacted with via multi-touch. One touch to drag HALO and hold the notification on screen, the second to select an option in the notification widget.
Activation
Pull down (status bar) or swipe up (PIE) the notification shade, tap HALO icon
NOTE:
Animator duration scale must be turned on, at least .5x or higher (Don't know what this is, don't touch it)
Deactivation
Reverse HALO Checked* - Double tap HALO, hold on second tap and drag over red X
Reverse HALO Unchecked* - Tap and drag HALO over the red X
*Reverse HALO option: Settings - Toolbars - Reverse HALO
Move HALO - Same as deactivate but DO NOT place over the red X. Instead, drag to screen location you would like HALO to dock at.
Settings - Toolbars - (HALO)
HALO Policy - Choose either blacklist or white list
Blacklist - select the apps that WILL NOT appear in HALO
Whitelist - select the apps that WILL appear in HALO
Hide HALO after activity - HALO will appear for incoming tasks and scroll out of sight after a short while.
Reverse HALO - Swap the task switching and moving gestures
Re-size HALO - Select between predefined HALO sizes
Pause Active App - When opening an app in HALO, the underlying/active app will be paused
Gestures
Swipe Up (marker 1) - Dismiss Notification
(persistent notification CANNOT be dismissed - just like your status bar)
Swipe Up (marker 2) - Dismiss All Notifications
Swipe Down (marker 1) - Hide HALO

Swipe Down (marker 2) - Silence HALO (New notifications will not cause HALO to pop-up until the user "wakes" HALO)

Yes, you are completely right. Thanks I'll update it. Device and kernel tree are the ones from official CM.

EDIT: sources stated in third post, hope it's OK now
Could just resist and flashed
About this advanced settings FC's , it is normal for non official PA. I have the same on Galaxytab 7.0, maybe it contains device specific settings I don't know
But I found serious bug... My external SDcard is not detected :/
EDIT: Wait !! It is mounted on /storage/sdcard1 , but just doesn't show up normally with X-plore like it did on 4.2.2
EDIT1: Bug with busybox and Xposed, same as in SlimBean 4.3 by Demetris, Xposed could not be installed because of busybox not being found.

well, this "bug" should not be that big of a problem OP should easily be able to fix the mountpoints inside the ramdisk
(if not, just PM me )
Also I had problems with HybridEngine and HybridProperties not remembering per app DPI and Layout settings :/ Now flashed SlimBean, I miss that rom
the backlight hardware button doesn't light off, and i can't find the setting to configure the timeout. another thing is, can you disable the soft navigation by default? kind of redundant, and the hardware button light not switching off bug just made it twice more annoying.

@FunkyRasta Can you be more specific? I belive that external SDcard is mounted on /storage/sdcard1 by default on CM 10.2. It shouldn't be much of a deal to change it, however I don't want to deviate from CM or PA standard is it's not really neccessary, where do you think external SD should be mounted?

No problem here mate, check the screenshots below.
Please make sure you followed procedure to install Xposed on 4.3
How to install Xposed on 4.3 based ROMs:
1. Install XposedInstaller_2.1.4.apk DON'T USE IT
2. Reboot to recovery and flash cwm-Xposed.JB4.3.Framework.Installer.zip
3. Reboot and use Xposed Installer to enable modules, etc.

I hope to introduce backlight hardware buttons control in next build, should be ready until the weekend.
Soft keys can be disable by setting navbar height to 0, tt will be defaulted in next build.

Installation
1. Wipe data/ factory reset
2. Wipe cache partition
3. Advanced/ wipe dalvik cache
4. Advanced/ wipe battery stats
5. Install zip from sdcard and reboot your system
Tips on using the ROM:
Camera:
If you are not satisfied with the quality and performance of the stock camera app, "Camera jb+"(from playstore). And use videocam illusion pro for recording videos.(Again from playstore). It will produce better quality images.
Performance:
To make the UI transitions faster, you can use the good old standard tip:
Go to settings->developer options
Set 'window animation scale', 'transition animation scale' and 'animator duration scale' all to "0.5x" or "0/off". UI animations will seem twice as fast after doing this.
If the ROM becomes slow over time, do a reboot.
And try not to do a lot of stuff in the first few seconds when SD card scanning is going on, sync is going on or when apps are updating in the background. Its not right to complain of "this/that doesnt work" or lag when you do that .
Gapps:
Use gapps this way:
1. Install gapps
2. Install playservices from a previous backup.
3. Freeze google apks like playservices, backup transport, contact sync, network location, picasa uploader etc except "playstore, google account manager, market update and google services framework" (basically freeze every google apk except these)
4. Add google a/c and use playstore normally.
5. If you don't have a playservices backup, let market download it and freeze it after that.

Hi Venkatesh,
I've found the USB debugging mode, OK. no problem.
But the sounds not OK. In the 'Default notification' menu I can find only one option "silent" !
Does it means, there is no sound for notification?
Could you help me?

BIG THANKS TO TALKINGMONKEYS WHO DID THE WORK TO PORT AND WROTE THE INSTALL GUIDE!! THANKS MAN!
We are not responsible for anything that may happen to your phone as a result of installing custom roms and/or kernels. you do so at your own risk and take the responsibility upon yourself.
AllianceROM© intends to give the user what THEY want. Tired of flashing Roms and having to ask for little changes to suit your taste? Tired of having to manually change colors of the toggles or the battery or move your clock or make statusbar transparent or any of the other multitude of other little color and style tweaks that Android users love? Tired of flashing AROMA installer for every little change you want to make? Tired of having to add your favourite images everytime a new rom comes out?
If you answer yes to any of these then AllianceROM is for you! We have a huge array of "on the fly" options for you to play with. Make your phone to YOUR style. YOUR color. YOUR perfection.
Available in Stock, AOSP or Black Glass themes the majority of modifications in AllianceROM are OPTIONAL. Many you wont find on any other TW ROM and some you wont find anywhere...Xposed, AOSP or otherwise! You can turn them on and off at will. We try not to impose many things on people because we realise that Android is all about INDIVIDUALITY. Make YOUR Rom and YOUR phone how YOU want it and change it on a whim.

Installation Instructions:
Pre-Requisites:
Read all of these long instructions to be sure you understand anything. If it doesn't make sense then be patient and get explanations instead of screwing things up then asking for help.
Follow muniz_ri's process to get to lollipop firmware and keep root. G900A or G870A
Doing this you will get flashfire also which is needed. Thanks chainfire for another useful app. If you can't follow the instructions to install it then you shouldn't be flashing this rom.
I will also be providing SafeStrap steps for the G900A and G870A. Use Flashfire to get to lollipop though because it can do things that SafeStrap can't. The reason I still use safestrap is to have a nandroid and quickly recover from bricks or any other issues where I can't fully boot and use FlashFire.
FlashFire Method:
Open flashfire, tap the +, and then tap "Flash zip or OTA" and browse to where you saved this rom on your device and add it.
Tap the + and tap "Wipe" and check everything except internal storage (unless you want to wipe your external sdcard)
Now make sure you have the actions in the following order:
Wipe
Flash zip or OTA
Just be sure that wipe is the first thing it does. FlashFire likes to set it as last even if you select to wipe before you add the rom zip.
Check to make sure within the actions you have everything checked correctly, you can leave everroot disabled as the installer in the ROM zip does this, and also leave reboot as default.
Tap the lightning bolt and then tap OK and wait for it to do its work.
For those of you that want to have safestrap also you can easily set it up to run beside FF. Until the G870A gets an "NCE Flasher" you will need odin for it. I will also provide links to the odin tars for the kernels for the G900A just in case you softbrick and need them to recover. If this is the case don't fear all you have to do is flash the NG3 Kernel in download mode through odin and reboot then enter SS through the splash.
G900A
Be on 5.0 then continue (if you're on my rom already you don't need to install busybox)
Download and install busybox from the playstore.
Install it then safestrap.
Install recovery in safestrap. It was probably removed if you used flashfire. If not you can skip this as its probably installed.
Download and install NCE Flasher (Thanks benwaffle and carl1961)
Download this Flashable OC4 Kernel zip (this one is fixed to work)
Load NCE Flasher and follow the instructions in the app which will flash the NCE Kernel for you and you'll be rebooted into SafeStrap
Flash the ROM, zips, restore your backup.
Remember to flash the OC4 Kernel back afterward or you'll be back into SS quick to do so.
Reboot
Now in case of problems download the NG3 Kernel tar and OC4 to use in odin. I chose NG3 for no particular reason. The NCE Flasher app uses NCE but all of the kernels before OC4 work for this step. The only times I find this is needed since finding the above method is when I hit a bootloop or some reason I can't get to the NCE flasher because of errors I created. Keep these kernels handy because you may run into a need to use them and unbrick.
All you'll need to do is boot to download mode and flash the NG3 kernel in odin

G870A
Be on 5.0 with root (stock, anything else). Guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aoc5-5-0-keeproot-t3083841
Download busybox from the playstore.
Install it then safestrap. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95832962473398954
Next go into download mode (hold volume down, home key and power) and load up Odin on your computer - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712465432
Flash the G870A NG3 Kernel in odin - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712466972
Boot after odin finishes and look for the SS splash screen
Flash what you want or restore your backup that you made before things went bad. If flashing this rom this way just wipe system, data, cache and dalvik then flash the rom.
Reboot into download mode and flash the 5.0 G870A OC5 kernel in odin - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934556234
Reboot and your device will boot up with your changes.
Now if you find yourself in a bootloop for any reason you can odin the NG3 kernel and restore your backup from safestrap. Until we have something better this is safer than flashfire. Sure flashfire is useful but having this extra safety in case you need it is a lot better and quicker to recover from.
If someone wants to look into making the NCE flasher compatible things will be as easy with SS as they are on the G900A

Awesome! Downloading now. I've heard a lot of great things about Alliance ROMs so I'm excited to give this a try.
One question though -- while it says it's "Lite" -- what about this makes it lite?
Glad to have this here. Thanks for allowing me to port it and make sure it was ready for this release.
@Goldie the links for the extra flashable zips I made aren't actually links. Thanks for getting this out man!
Extra Mods and G870A Support
We have the activekey working for the G870A. This also adds Active Mode app. Thanks to @Morningstar and @parkerj7uc for helping me with this. I added it under Accessibility settings in Settings. This also changes the build.prop to reflect the G870A instead of G900A a little and a few files changed to the G870A ones just because its how I was taught. Should be full support for your device like @cstayton did for us on this device with 4.4.2. I will be adding that to any future version of alliancerom as well. It detects which device you have when you flash the rom and puts the appropriate files on there. For now dirty flashing this after alliancerom should do the trick. Or with the rom for a clean install. Make sure that it is flashed after the rom though.
Confirmed working as intended. Enjoy guys.

just flashed the rom on my g870a and when it flashed using FF it flashed good but when it went to load it when to the galaxy s5 active splash screen before when the samsung animation should show but it doesn't. it stayed on the galaxy s5 active splash screen. i did however here the samsung sound effects go but not visual. never booted up past the galaxy s5 active screen.
i did a battery pull and now it is loading. currently it is at the android is updating screen optimizing the apps. but it still didn't show the samsung screen. and now is on the initial start up to set up the phone. now is confirmed u have the same bug @muniz_ri's had when he made the lollipop rom with root rom. it doesn't show the samsung splash screen animation and it has a 10-15 second delay when the screen loads after boot to lock screen that the touch screen is unresponsive. i can't unlock or touch anything til it loads that part of the phone to use the phone. might wanna get with him to see what it was. i help test his rom to get that fixed but don't know what it was.

Did you wipe before flashing? It doesn't really sound like it since it was upgrading apps. It flashed fine for me when I tested it with a full wipe.
I had the same hiccup as jasonj711 - only I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 (not Active) and when it rebooted after installing the Alliance ROM it showed the Samsung Galaxy S5 splash screen and although I could hear it play the chime for the Samsung animation, it stayed on the Galaxy S5 screen. I had to do a battery pull and when I booted the 2nd time it was optimizing my apps.
I'm in the set up right now and I can see minit3d battery or whatever it's called so it appears the ROM flashed successfully. Just a hiccup with the initial boot.

I am doing a re"reboot now then if same result I will refashioned see if something went wrong I know I put fill wipe. I will flash and let it sit for a bit to let it load. But the first flash acted exactly the same as @muniz_ri when he was making the lollipop\root stuff.
edit: rebooted got same result. i am reflashing now and so far it is sitting at the galaxy s5 active screen screen. i already heard the samsung logo splash animation sound but no samsung screen. i am letting it sit to finish loading to the actual phone screen. will update when finished.
edit 2: it loaded to setup screen and same delay as before will setup and reboot and see what happens.

I'll take a look at it later. I have a lot going on today. It worked fine when I tested it so it's going to frustrate me tonight.

I think it might be just something on the g870a install of it. If I remember correctly @muniz_ri had same thing was just for the active variety. Other then that the rim runs great. Take ur time Bro not in a rush. I know it is gonna bug ya til it is fixed I know How it is I am the same way.

This or tms5.0?
What's the difference between this rom and tms5.0 by talkingmonkey? Pros and cons of each? Battery life? Thanks.

This has more customization then tms5.0 . Imo tms5.0 runs a Lil smoother.
Also on the notice toon setting none of the icons are there just the words so there is no way to see if they are active or not. U can touch them to turn them on or off but no way to see if they are or not.
Same issue

I had the same thing happen. It turns out that the SFinder bar overlaps the quick setting buttons. I removed the SFinder bar using the Alliance Control App (under Notification panel) and it sort-of fixed that problem. I now have a gap where the SFinder bar should be. If you try to re-enable the bar, it'll show up at the bottom (under the brightness). I haven't figured out how to get it back into the right spot yet. I tried to remove the brightness and quick setting buttons, to see if the SFinder bar would jump back up to the top, but it won't let you configure for less than 5 of the quick settings buttons.
Just enable and disable app bar and sfinder to get then in sync

How do i get rid of the content hidden on the lock screen lol?

[SOLVED] How to get pre-Lollipop features back

And get rid of a few annoyances in the mean time?
EDIT: SOLUTION it cost me half a sunday if not more.
I have a stock Moto X 2013, Europe version. I was very happy with it, apart from a few minor annoyances. Untill I received the Lollipop update months ago.
Missing features or new annoyances since Lollipop:
Wake display by waiving your hand. This was in my opinion a killer feature.
SOLUTION: This website which presents a solution using TASKER. Untested
Shutdown menu - extremely annoying if you just want to reboot
Enable flight mode via Shutdown menu, since the menu is gone, you miss this option as well
Mute phone with 1 button, the volume down button. The alternative, selecting MUTE also disables screen or glow notifications. There is NO way to only mute sound/vibration a Moto X 2013 with Lollipop. You have a SMARTphone that cannot be muted like any other phone!
Bluetooth and mobile data toggles have been removed. OMG even Windows Phone 8 has it.
Lockscreen: swipe to right for camera. Gone.
White popup (general Lollipop annoyance): if you swipe it away, the notification is gone from the bar, you cannot read it/respond from the notification bar after swiping it away.
Minor but not dealbreaker features I would like to have: hide NFC and Bluetooth icon in the notification bar, be able to hide app icons and/or rearrange them in the app drawer.
What do I need to do to get all these features back? I want to stick to the stock experience as much as possible. Custom ROMs with tons of customisation features is not what I am waiting for. A custom ROM with near-stock experience and fixes for the issues mentioned above would be welcome.
But if it is possible to solve all of them with XPosed and/or Tasker, that would be fine. Unfortunately I searched these forums for 3 days now and I cannot find a dedicated Xposed topic with this info (there is 1 but it has little useful info). I hope others have a similar experience and found a solution!

This is a question, shouldn't it be in the Q&A?
1) This can be restored by flashing the 4.4.4 firmware
2) Xposed -> GravityBox (Power)
3) Xposed -> GravityBox (Power)
4) Tasker?
5) Xposed -> GravityBox (QuickSettings), or if you mess with the settings for either of those they may pop up in the quick toggles after some time
6) Xposed -> GravityBox (QuickSettings)
7) Xposed -> GravityBox (Notification Ticker)
Status bar icons can be hidden in GravityBox (Statusbar)
The drawer changing can be done with XGELs (Google Experience Launcher)
If this information helped you get it working, be sure to pay it forward by donating if you can
I am definitely going to unlock bootloader, root and install Xposed, see if I can get all of this back. Saves me the risk of potentially unstable ROMs and saving a lot of time testing different ROMs. Thanks a lot!
And yes, I believe projects like Xposed absolutely deserve a donation. I just finished flashing my own HTC One M7, it will also have Xposed (first time going to use it). The Motorola is owned by the lady. I will definitely donate if it works for me.
Wave-to-wake is present in some roms, for example the modded stock rom
There is also the lockscreen with the swipe for the camera.
In order to modify the power menu, you can use APM+.
For the toggles use Gravity Box.

Good to know, but why would I go to all the trouble to install that ROM (which would include wiping my phone) if I can reach all those goals with XPosed/GravityBox
I have stock Lollipop 5.1 European version about:
5 - bluetooth toggle exists, IIRC it only appears if you use it; mobile data toggle also exists, just need two clicks - one on mobile data tile and one on toggle
6 - don't know about secure screen options but if you don't use password/pin/other you can swipe left for camera and right for dialer
7 - you can swipe that popup up to just hide it and without dismissing or use one of this app to remove/modify them "Heads-up Notifications" "HeadsOff - TickerOn" even without root
I believe that the Nexus Experience rom (NX ROM) offers most, if not all of the features that you're looking for, and it offers a very stock experience. The only reason that I don't run it is because I've grown accustom to tapping gently on my phones shoulder when it's sitting on my desk to activate the Active Display to see what time it is or what notifications I've been ignoring. With NX ROM, Active Display works great, but it's not as sensitive. So I have to tip my phone up, or sideways, to about 15 degrees before Active Display activates with. A very minor issue, but I'm very picky.
As far as I remember, it has the hand wave feature, power off/reboot/airplane mode menu, all kinds of toggles, and I believe volume down to mute as well. It doesn't do swipe right for camera, but you can swipe from bottom right corner, or from bottom left (customizable) to activate the camera. Not sure about the white popup thing because I didn't use it that long.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I am extremely annoyed by Google removing useful functionality, harming productivity and introducing new design which is clearly not meant for OLED screens (all white). But with all these suggestions I can hopefully stick with the Moto X for a long time, since no brand but Sony will bring us high end <5" phones.

Also have the European version, but I have a completely different experience. Swiping heads up notification always removes the notification from the statusbar (on all Lollipop phones, not just Motorola). On my HTC One M7 with GPE+ ROM I could lower the popup to 1sec allowing me to access the notification in the statusbar when needed. Works fine.
Another Lollipop bug (not even fixed in Android 6.0.1) is that the dialer shows ALL contacts of ALL your accounts (Google, Exchange, Outlook, Facebook, Skype etc) regardless if they have a phone number or not. The Contacts app does allow you to select specifically which contacts to show per group per account. In 4.4.4 this also applied to the dialer, since 5.0 it does not anymore. Google it and you will see people going nuts about this. A Google employee replying it will be "fixed" in M.. which is nuts since most phones with this issue will never receive an M upgrade.. also, now that M is available for Nexus, it's not fixed. The only solution: find a better dialer in Play Store.. this nums me completely... a phone OS should have at least a good dialer.. and apart from this issue the dialer works fine.
SOLVED
SOLVED:
Documentation + all links below in case anyone or myself ever need to do this again.
The most important part explained in detail:
- uninstall any phone drivers from other phones, uninstall Android SDK etc
- install Motorola USB drivers (Motorola Manager)
- install Minimal ADB & Fastboot in C:\adbfb and install mfastboot in that same folder, use mfastboot instead of fastboot. Scroll down in the Minimal topic to find the link to the Fastboot guide. It lists the command to flash recovery (TWRP): NOTE !!! unplug the phone from the PC right after flashing recovery and use the volume down button to scroll to Recovery in Bootloader, use VOLUME UP to select recovery after uplugging, not the shutdown button and do not reboot first (I used shutdown button and rebooted and spend 2 hours figuring this out)!
- copy all required files (the ROM plus its addons) to c:\adbfb.
- Flash using TWRP, first the ROM, then the addons, then factory reset via TWRP.
Short overall steps:
1. bootloader unlocked via the Motorola site (official method)
2. installed TWRP 2.8.6.0 (the newer one has an issue)
3. installed the modded/debloated stock ROM
4. also installed all the addons for that ROM, listed in that same first post.
5. After first boot and initial setup, Copied Xposed Installer, AdAway and installed them via Amaze File Manager (Play Store).
6. Installed the Xposed modules: GravityBox, Moto Checkbox, Sensify, BTAudio. Used GravityBox and Moto CheckBox to get most features back and personalise Quicksettings and some other great tweaks.
7. Used Sensify to install the HTC Sense Launcher (read the first post to install the correct version!!) which is basically stock launcher WITHOUT persistant Google Search Bar WITH ability to rearrange/group/hide apps in the app drawer and with black background, good for our OLED screen. No free launcher in the Play Store is as simple and plain as this one with these features (Nova Prime can do it but it costs €5 and adds a huge load of features I never need).
8. Wave-to-Wake is still not present in the debloated ROM but I will use the Tasker workaround. Haven't tested this yet.
9. To get the maximum out of your battery and have apps that are easier on the eyes, create a backup using TWRP and carefully follow the instructions of Team Blackout (Black Chrome, Black Calendar, Black Hangouts, Black Keep, Black Whatsapp etc). Haven't tested this yet.
10. Play Store > Settings: disable auto-update in Play Store, also disable the notification of updates.

Notifications panel not showing up (among other issues)

I'm rocking my op3t with RR for about 3 years now with relatively the same setup - RR 7.1.2 rom (haven't touched twrp in about 2 years).
My phone sometimes gets stuck in camera apps then I do a quick reboot and it's all fine.
Earlier today I encountered the same issue, restarted and now I can't access qs tiles (I can't scroll the notif bar beyond the top row) and (perhaps more importantly) - no notifications are showing (although I see that there are on my home launcher).
Moreover, my recents and home buttons don't seem to function. The buttons themselves work (i.e. they light up and double tap functionality on my home button to screen off works just fine), just these functions don't work.
I tried to tweak in the settings - *specifically* the notification panel, home and recents functions doesn't work.
I'm reaching out for help before flashing the ROM again (I do not want to handle any more tweaks on this phone so I would rather a more simple fix).
Tried rebooting several times, haven't solved the issue.
I'm not sure what exactly is at fault here and I have no clue as to how to further investigate (beyond reflashing).
Any help would be much appreciated.
Edit: to be clear, the notifications don't show up to the point where they don't even show up in the lock screen.
