It won't connect to the Wi-Fi 5G band!!! - Nubia Red Magic 3 Questions & Answers

As the title says, the phone doesn't connect to the 5G band of my WI-FI.
It recognizes it and lets me enter the password, but when I do so, it gets stuck in authentication and saving, it enters into a loop of that.
Although it works perfectly fine with the 2.4G band...
My WI-FI is working perfectly fine on my other devices (Ps4, Huawei Mate 20 PRO), and I enter the correct password every time too. So has nothing to do with that.
The problem has to do with the phone. Does anyone know how can I solve it?! My version is the global one.
Thanks in advance.

Mine works perfectly on the 5G band, and it's also the global version.
Maybe there's 2 much interference from other networks?
Something to try : go to you router's setup settings, disable the 2.4G network and try to connect your RM3 to the router while you're standing next to it...

What's your firmware version @roadworker ?

I did that of disabling the 2.4G band and still doesn't work. There isn't any interference in the signal, it's my own Wi-Fi and there aren't any walls whatsoever between. The thing is that even my 6 years old LG G4 connects perfectly to my Wi-Fi...

Are there anyone with the same problem?
If it work for you, what is your firmware version?

@sakilxda,I'm on 2.09 for about a week now.....

Chinese or European firmware?

European - Global

No 5GHz wifi networks detected nor able to transmit 5GHz hotspot

First off the oligitory i have this phone, P20 pro currently rooted running EMUI 8, stock rom, stock kernel, magisk
Such a weird problem as the title says I can't detect or connect to any 5GHz wifi. I have tried to force connect via "Add Network" function. I have reviewed some files inside /etc that were suggested in a P20 lite thread, can't remember where they were/name, but the "enable 5GHz = 1". Something that is tied to it also, is that I can no longer transmit the hotspot on the 5GHz band, inside the hotspot advanced settings tab.
Now for the things that changed before i noticed no 5GHz networks.
-Changed the 5GHz hotspot to 2.4GHz to penetrate a wall better.
-Traveled to Honduras, switched networks to claro while in Honduras.
I am thinking it might be a geolocation type restriction as ihave never had this happen anywhere else before. It will also be about a week or so till I get back state side to hook the phone back to T-Mobile to see if that changes things. Might be tied the the GPS somehow, might be a stretch but i don't know.

Can other mobile phones find 5Gwifi?
Yes they can. MANY other devices can find and connect to the WIFI. I have got an update after taking the phone out of airplane mode i was able to switch the hotspot back over to the 5GHz. Still cannot connect or find the 5GHz network

Happen to me few days ago after Pie update. It can't find my hotspot created from my Redmi Note 5 Ai over 5Ghz. But it still can find my office 5Ghz network.
Fixed after rebooting the phone. Now it can see both network
So I want to close this thread out. As soon as I connected back to a stateside 4g carrier, the phone decided to re-enable the 5ghz side of the wifi. All of this happened all on its own. I made sure to check it within a short time off reconnecting stateside. Crazy stuff.

WIFI connection issue

Hi my Redmi k20 pro keeps connecting and disconnecting frequently . Is anyone facing the same issue?
no i dont, but i miss the feature to off wifi when screen off.
Mine is ok
Mine is good as well, maybe an update could fix it if your aren't updated already.
You could also switch to miui eu rom, hopefully that will fix it.
Also other phones connected on the same wifi don't have this issue?
Mine seems to have the same issue. I used an app "connection stabilizer booster" from play store and that keeps it alive.
Yup same issues... Constant dead wifi, constant drop offs, can't fix it. Driving me nuts.
I think I have the same issue.
I have the exact same issue and it's infuriating. I have a feeling it's down to the Chinese ROM. A couple years back, I had a phone with a Chinese ROM which had the same problem. Although I don't really know. If anyone can identify the problem or even provide a solution that would be great.

Hey. I got the app but the problem seems to still be there. What did you do in the app to resolve the issue?

The problem came back unfortunately . On further research the issue is mainly because this phone has a piss poor wifi 5 GHz connectivity. I am thinking of switching to oneplus7 pro because wifi is a mess
I was already thinking my device was broken or my wifi extenders incorrectly configured... Good to hear other people having the same problem. My WiFi speed sometimes drops and I have to switch it off and on to resolve it. I'll set my Router and the two extenders to 2,4 GhZ and report back.
Alright, that fixed my connection issues. I previously had my WiFi set to the same name in 2.4 GHz and 5GHz. I switched it to a different name for the bands and used the K20pro in 2.4 GHz only.
No dropping connections any more.
Hi i am also facing this issue. Anybody got a solution.?

1- are your phones up to dates with latest official chines ROM (not beta or global rom)? (rooted or not?)
2- did you checked with another WiFi modems?

could you please explain how you used k20 pro in 2.4ghz only?
Hey, u might have gotten me wrong.
My Netgear Router and two extenders where configured to sending a WiFi network on both frequencies at the same time with the same key and the same SSID.
I reconfigured the router and the extenders to sending with a different SSID on 5GHz and never entered that password into the K20pro. Now it's only able to connect to the 2.4 GHz networks.

I immediately replaced the shoprom with xiaomi.eu. Haven't flashed anything else, only their OTAs.
I believe since they are based on chinese beta they would include a new modem partition but I'm not sure.

So the only thing to be done here is get a replacement and hope that device doesnt have the same hardware issue?
This seemed to fix the 5GHz connection problem for me:
On router settings:
Changed encryption to AES only
Changed channel to 100/80
Problem solved
I had same issue...but it is very easy to solve.just change ur region to usa...my region was india then i changed it to usa.. now using 5g network without any issue...???

Redmi 9C connected to wifi but no Internet

I just bought this phone and I'm trying to use it in my network. I use Ubiquiti products (16-port switches and a bunch of AP access points). I connected the phone via wifi to my network and it has no problem for a while until it just doesn't have Internet connection. It stays connected with its IP address intact but for some reason it cannot seem to reach the Internet. The workaround is to simply turn off the wifi module and turn it back on. It's randomly happening and the workaround is very annoying.
I have a couple of other mobile devices (iPads, iPhones, Android phones, Windows laptops, etc.) and I never experienced the issue with these. I tried connecting the Redmi 9C to all my wifi networks:
Guest wifi with captive portal
Main wifi with RADIUS authentication
IoT wifi with regular WPA2 personal authentication
I tried resetting the wifi settings of the phone. I tried reinstalling the latest MIUI fw/sw.
and the result is the same, every time. At this point, I can safely consider that there has to be something wrong with the phone. I'm not sure if it's because of the MIUI 12 update because I updated the phone to the latest firmware as soon as I got it out of the box. Is this a known issue with this phone? I have another Xiaomi phone (Mi Mix 3) on the same network without any issues.
Any ideas?
Same thing is happening with my Redmi 9c
I am encountering the same problem with my device.
I have my region in Bangladesh (the country I live in) ,tried changing it a few times. Also upgraded my MI UI version but nothing changed.

I don't face this problem in my device which framware you using
Try to update in leatest framware
I always use the updated firrmware but it's too late, I returned and asked for a refund for this phone and replaced it with a Huawei Y6P.
I'm having a similar issue with my redmi 9, wifi works fine but all of a sudden it stops working even though it's connected. Apps dont load, messages dont go through and i have to toggle the off and on wifi. I'm on miui 11, there are no updates available when i try to update but i'm about to ask for a refund. This issue is very annoying

Redmi note 9 wifi glitch

My redmi note 9 is on miui v12.0.6.0 QJOINXM (Indian version). The wifi router in my house supports 2.4GHz/5GHz dual band. My phone often disconnects from wifi. It is like the phone is showing connected to wifi but there is no upload or download speed. I have to turn off the wifi option in phone settings and turn it back on for the connection to work again. It happens every 1 minute or so and it is very frustrating. Please if anyone could give any suggestions.
I am also facing the same problem. Did you get any solution?
Same here, bloody annoying.
Connects to access point no problem, remains connected to access point no problem but it's pot luck if you get data flow.
Using my Redmi right now, so hopefully this posts ok.

Samsung Dex HDMI wifi problems

hello good evening colleagues
I have an issue that had already happened to me on my samsung S9 and now it happens to me on my s20 FE 5g
the problem occurs in samsung Dex HDMI
when using any app or game
the internet is slow and does not load or loads very slowly and disconnects me.
It had happened to me before, but I don't remember how I solved it.
this happens when i connect my HUB + HDMI adapter and start samsung Dex . Network speed drops drastically.
Hello partners
after an insatiable fight.
after buying another HUB + usb + HDMI. and HDMI 2.0 cable
the problem persisted.
until I remember that the problem lies in the internet modem.
hahaha
The problem is exactly in the channel where the modem is configured, you have to find which channel is less saturated
in automatic mode it showed me very slow.
I hope this information is useful.
since in automatic channel the speed of the s20 FE can drop very drastically (of course it also depends on the modem if it is modern or old)
Can this thread be closed?
the problem comes from android 13 update
apologies...

hello colleague
yes, you are right
my problem is with wifi usually in 2.4 ghz networks.
in online games.
It lags, in an unenjoyable way.
Since android 13 this problem arose.
At the moment I only have a router 1 band 2.4

You can try getting closer to router , also on phone go to dev settings and limit background apps to none or 1 at bottom. That usually gives a little speed boost. You can prob find a 5g router at goodwill , and if it doesnt work out of box you can go look up dd wrt for it !

hello colleague
Thanks for your reply.
I already tried everything on my Router.
With Android 12 everything was running fine.
It is a 2.4ghz router.
Already modify any type of parameter. (scope, channels, etc)
but everything stays the same.
I clarify, the failure is in online games, there is a delay.
on facebook it may take a while to load between other apps.
in another house there is a dual band router.
In 5g there seems to be no delay, everything flows fine.
but i connect to 2.4 and it starts the delays.
something that did not happen to me in android 12.

Yes 5g is faster up close . The 2g is slower also bc everything ran off 2g . Think about 2g house phones everyone had. Theres more traffic on those . 5g has less traffic which helps increase your bandwidth.
Hi,
just wanted to mention, that i have the same issue
* on a Galaxy S22 with android 13 (regardless of Dex, but whenever screen is shared via a usb-c to hdmi adapter) and
* on a Huawei P20 Pro with android 12 (sometimes, not always)
replugging the usb-c adapter always immediately solves the issue but only for a brief time.
I hit this problem while traveling and using the hotel tv to watch movies that I stream via the phone over the hotel wifi (80mbits, but when the bug is on: <1 mbit) (changing the router is obviously not feasible in my case )
Could that be a general android / kernel bug?
Does anyone have a hypothesis for a technical explanation?
The bug is not occuring on 4G cellular network. Didn't test for 5ghz Wifi
