Change resolution (without root) - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

Hello, is it possible to change the resolution of this phone without root? I play FIFA Mobile on it and it lags. So i'm looking for a save method to change the resolution.

Enable developer options, there you can change dpi (smallest width).

OK, thanks! The basic dp is 360 on my phone. For better performance without lags what should i enter?

I can't enter a value less than 320. So it not really helps...

Tips: Set individual apps to run as tablet mode on any rom (root)

I found this out by watching ZedoMax's video. Just want to repost in case people didn't see it. Sorry, root is required. Also yes I am aware of Paranoid Android, but this method work with all roms. You can set tablet mode per app that you want and not affecting the entire system. You can change font size per app as well.
Instruction:
1. Download Xposed Installer (apk) and App Settings and install both of them.
2. Run Xposed Installer and press "Install/Update". Then also select the "Modules" tab, check the box to enable "App Settings". Then reboot.
3. Run "App Settings", select any app in the list you want to change to tablet mode. Change the value for the "DPI" and resolution (Screen (dp)) to the desired value, then press "Save", then Launch the program. Keep trying different values until it successful set the app into tablet mode.
Tips:
-If you are making change to an app that contain important data, use Carbon or Titanium Backup to backup your data first, just in case.
-I find "DPI" set to 200 or 240 and "resolution" to 1280x800 tend to work. Though not all apps come with a tablet mode.
-You can change the "font scale" value to make fonts bigger or smaller as well.
-If you experienced any app crashing, toggle it off in the App Settings menu and "Save". Also, setting the "DPI" to 0 is equivalent to the default DPI value.
-Some recommended settings to try for the Nexus 7:
Browser: DPI: 200, Resolution: 1280x800
Contacts: DPI: 240, Resolution: 1280x800
Launcher: DPI: 200, Resolution: 1280x800, Font Scale: 120 (bigger icons, tablet mode)
Play Music: DPI: 160, Resolution: 1280x800, Font Scale: 140 (This will fit lots more songs on the screen.)
Play Store: DPI: 200, Resolution: 1280x800, Font Scale: 80
Handy!
Great little tip for people who don't really want to install a custom ROM.
Thanks!
cool! how does this affect performance? does it create any lag or stutter?
Edit: how do you install the zip file? it fails whenever I try to install it through recovery.
edit 2: you actually have to rename the zip file as an apk file, then install it normally in android. Not really sure why he didn't just upload it as an apk to begin with. anywho this is working great!

Except that after you do this, you're not on a stock ROM anymore
It doesn't affect the performance, but I can imagine running apps on higher resolution might require more performance, but I've tried it with plenty of apps.
One thing I notice is it only affect 2D graphic. The resolution setting won't affect 3D games so no chance for getting better fps.

This is very helpful wish I knew about it before i switched to PACman ROM.

[Q] Edit dpi in semcphone.apk?

Is there any possibility to fix the dpi in phone app? I changed screen dpi from 480 to 420, and it works great everywhere. Except in phone app. It doesn't adjust to the new settings. Why is that, and is there a way to fix it?
Best regards
You can use App Settings xposed module to set dpi per app.

Density/DPI change

Hi,
I am new to the p7. I am used from my Samsung and nexus devices to adapt via build.prop DPI in order to see more things on screen.
Build.prop has no DPI setting. How (which app?) Proved to securely change DPI? And what is stock DPI for 1080 and 720p (rog)?
Thanks
No one feeling the need to show more on screen? [emoji22]
Hi,
Have you found a solution for this yet?
I've recently got myself a P7 and I'm trying to get something similar to 240 dpi(like my s3).
People have mentioned ROG tech, but I can't find that option anywhere.
ROG setting is under Settings - Power Saving, then menu (upper right corner) setting.
Rog? I tgought its resolution (I.e HD 720p instead of full HD1080p)? Is there also a setting for density hidden besides ROG?
rog doesnt do the trick
I've activated ROG, but all it does it help the battery to last longer, by reducing performance and screen res.
What I (and op) are looking for, is something to change the dpi (pixel density/LCD density). Like on samsung phones, you can do it through build.prop
No one managed to edit dpi?
Still have a problem...
Where.is the rog option in emui3?
changing dpi on P7 ??? such little screen ?? NO POINT it is tiny already ..

[Q] Share your experiences about using 240 ppi screen density

Hi guys,
I use stock Marshmallow ROM with the latest security updates available, and the device is rooted via SuperSU.
I don't want to use the Exposed+App Settings solution in order to enable per-application PPI settings, so the only way to get more screen estate AND all options working in the Motorola Camera is to use the 240 ppi density.
What I'd like to know is if there are any issues that block using 240 ppi density on a daily basis—like misbehaving apps, higher battery drain (I have Force GPU Rendering enabled in dev settings), hardware issues, etc.
Please share your experiences, and thank you in advance!

Changing screen resolution

Hi guys, could you answer following questions, please?
When I change my Honor's screen resolution to 1440x720 in settings, is this a global change? I want to know if afterward executed apps that don't allow resolution changes will use this resolution and maybe perform better than on 2160*1080.
Other question: If I execute an app that allows changing screen resolution like PUBG mobile and then I select FULL-HD, does this overwrite the global setting "1440x720"?
Thanks a lot for your future answers :good:
