Memory inside phone - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Just be to be aware....when I got the phone it told me I had 256GB storage space and now on EU ROM is telling me I have 128GB.
How can I get an accurate reading on this?

CHEFS TAKE NOTE: HTC Camera Bug!!!!!

not quite sure where this belongs but since i never had a problem pre 6.5, maybe its related to the rom?
ever since 6.5, with my 16gb memory card, the camera seems to be having problem recognising how much space i have left. sometimes randomly i have sufficient correct space, sometimes like right now, i can only take 200 pics although i have 8gb left. which implies that the camera is only recognising my 16gb card as 8gb?
i tried to take more than 200 pics and sure enough it says insufficient space. checked and its indeed storage card. main memory has 400 space left.
i did a search but probably since i dont know any keywords, cudnt find anyone with the same problem. my rom itself (NRG latest 2.1 manila) recognises i have 8gb left and transfering files to and from no problem. its just the camera. athine, josh and even stock 6.5 rom has the issue. randomly the problem will solve itself and then it'll just come back suddenly.
reformatting to fat 2 and retransferring files back doesnt work.
UPDATE:
i found out some additional extremly interesting info. i have a 16gb card. curently have 9gb left. i calculated and realised that my camera shows 2000 pics to be taken, at 500 kb per pic, which means 1GB worth.
this means the HTC camera can only recognise up to 8GB! if you have more than 8GB worth of data in your card of 16GB then the camera starts screwing up in judging how much space is left in your phone! if you have less than 8GB, then its 16GB - 8GB - how much data you've used = number of shots left.
if its more than 8GB its
16GB -9GB = wtf sorry my software can only recognise 8GB card, i'm confused, argh i'll just assign you 200 pictures or so at random

cud it be the 6.5 issue, or htc camera issue in our effort to have the latest version? any suggestions?
i have seen that with a fake 16gb card happend to me
like i said the rom recognises it as 16gb. andd i can transfer 16gb worth of files into the card. the problem is solely with the camera. so"fake" is not the issue i believe

now as you mentioned it in this thread i realized that it happens to me with with my 16gigs sd card. the camera counter shows sometimes 5000 pics and at times 500. i didn't really pay a lot of attention to it coz i thought it was coz of settings or something.
so i confirm. and im pretty sure i saw that thing on pretty much any rom i've had so far
not just on 16gb cards
it also happens on 8gb cards. i placed 2GB worth of iso files and counter dropped down to 32shots. and i still have 4gb worth of space.
i was using nrg phoenix rom back then. i removed the iso files and the counter went back to 2k.

[Q] Please Help: Internal Phone Storage Full/Text Messages Full

Hello Everybody. Thank you all in advance for any help you can give a noob with the Captivate. I tried searching for similar threads and I couldn't find any.
I just got this phone about a month ago and have not modded it on my own and have only installed applications through the marketplace and added music/taken pictures.
It is an unlocked (how it was unlocked I don't know, the cell phone shop had it done for me) and I use it with TMobile. I don't know if it is rooted, or if it is Froyo XYZ, etc and all I was told is that I am not to do a system reset of the phone to get it back to original factory settings or else they'd have to jump through hoops again to get it working again (I had problems getting it to receive MMS and get online before)
The issue I am having is that all of a sudden yesterday, I got a red notification icon on the very top of the phone and it told me that my Internal Phone Storage was full or nearly full. And then shortly after that.. I received another notification that my text message box was full and some new messages were refused because it's full.
I quickly deleted all of my text messages (about 20 threads or so) except for one old one that had some important simple text info on it (no mms). But that didn't fix the problem. I still received the text message full notice even after I turned off the phone, pulled out the battery and restarted it after a minute or so.
I also uninstalled many of the games and fonts and applications that I had installed through the marketplace and tried restarting my phone yet again and still nothing. I had most of the apps except one or two on there for at least a 2-3 weeks so got rid of the few that I just installed this week.
I was unsure what types of things affect what portion of the Internal Phone Storage and what types affect the Internal SD (I don't have an external sd card but may get one if that helps). Applications are stored and ran from where, if the amount of text messages affect either (tho I had already cleared out the mailboxes).
The settings showed:
Internal SD Card:
Total Space: 13.03 GB
Available Space: 11.88 GB
Internal Phone Storage:
Available Space: 189 MB
I called the support at Samsung and they were absolutely no help at all saying that the Internal SD Card and the Internal Phone Storage were one and the same and they share the 16GB total (which is possibly true in one being a smaller partitioned space for system useage while the other larger partition is for things like Media). The thing that got me was when I asked them what kinds of things take up space in the Internal Phone Storage vs Internal SD and basically asked them which one the text messages affect and which one the applications affect, they said that both affect both. Well in that case, I should have plenty of space seeing as I have 11.88GB of SD left. His solution was to to restore to factory settings.
I felt that they were not able to tell me and tried the Chat. They told me something else altogether for the most part... that the Internal Phone Storage is not used for Anything at all and everything is run and stored in the Internal SD. Her solution was to to restore to factory settings.
Basically they were no help and just kept pushing to restore to factory settings, so I just decided to uninstall just about all the apps/games/live wallpapers that I installed (I can't touch the crap that AT&T had on it when I got it new) and it seems to have worked.
Now my Internal Phone Storage:
Available Space: 215 MB (while it seems to have gone down from 216 yesterday after I uninstalled all the stuff)
I don't want this to be a temporary fix since my phone Should be able to do all the cool things and have cool apps and games and the like and shouldn't be a barebones phone, otherwise I could have gotten a much much cheaper non touch screen Nokia not so smart phone if all I wanted to do was talk and text on it.
I don't think that the media should be making much a difference considering I only have about 1.5 GB used up and what would be the use for having a boasted 16GB internal storage if it craps after less than 1/6 of it's capacity?
So if anyone could help with finding a permanent solution for this so I can go back to having a cool smart phone!
Would I be able to buy an external mirco sd and then install/store/run all the applications on there?
Does the text messages take up much space and where is that stored?
Again, I thank any and all help in advance!!!
well, there is a free sim unlock tool in the android development section of the forums.
Then you could flash stock (seeing as the phone doesn't require a sim card to turn on and function), then sim unlock.
Then do as you please with it.
I actually tried that when I first hot the phone before I gave it back to the cell phone shop to unlock and unfortunately it didn't work.
And the phone storage and text message thing happened again today and all I have done w the phone since yesterday was pair it w a blue tooth headset. Again the phone storage full notification popped up first and then the text message full notification popped up right after. I ended up installing the rest of the apps and still only have about 240mb of internal phone storage! Then the text notification also went away.

I'm having this problem as well so do you think that it is a simple internal phone storage shortage? I have only 165mb free and I KNOW for a fact that it is stopping me recieving texts as I get text notifications when someone tweets me and I have stopped recieving them, instead getting notifications that my text memory is full. Furthermore, I deleted a thread with over 400 messages in it to no avail so I shall get rid of some programs/move them to SD card until the memory full error goes.
SORRY I POSTED THIS IN THE WRONG DEVICE SUB-FORUM! MY APOLOGIES!

stop low space warning (external sd card)

I filled up my external card with music and videos for when I was away over the weekend (leaving about 130mb free) and I kept on getting a warning that space was low. I already knew that the space was low as on purpose I filled the card as much as possible!
I've always tended to fill my SD cards to capacity on previous phones and this has never affected the phone in a negative way or stopped anything working so I don't need a warning telling me what I already know.
Does anyone know how to stop this message from coming up or know what the limit is set to which makes the warning appear?
I've never seen this message on other phones before.
(Just to clarify - this question relates to low space on the micro SD card and NOT the phones internal storage)

Unfortunately, I think that there is not a solution to this issue. It is a """feature""" and a very annoying one!
As you said, what is the point of having an external SD card that you can't fill up without beeing constantly informed that it does not have very much space left?

Infinix Hot 2 Internal Storage shows its almost full.

Hello,
I recently got an Infinix Hot 2, and it has since upgraded to Marshmallow. This upgrade brought problems as my music has disappeared and my internal memory appears to be full but can't find what's taking up all the space. I have an 8 gb sd card which is treated as internal memory. Does anyone know how I can find out what's taking up all that space?
Thanks,
Edwin.

SD card error

Hello, I just bought a 128gb Adata sd card. When I put it on my phone, is showing 134gb instead of the 128, the format and eject options are greyed out.
If put the SD card on my laptop, it does show the 128gb.
What should I do?
It's normal, some GB goes to administration.. etc
Same here..
pretty normal
Hm sounds wired but if u format it in the computer then. It should not show more available it should show less then 128 and strange the options are grayd out

It´s not normal, instead of showing less space, is showing more than the actual capacity of the SD card.
Found out that the card was a fake. luckily I got a refund from ebay.
Yes that's what I thought
