LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8 (oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. How to install
You have to had TWRP installed from this thread TWRP and ROOT for Tab 4 8/10 (Plus) (TB-8704X/F/V,TB-X704L/F, TB-8504X/F, TB-X304L/F)
In TWRP clean Data if you coming from stock ROM and do Install of this ROM. If you have android 8 stock rom installed you have to format Data with data loss, because used encryption is incompatible with android 7.1
Thanks
Big thank to @mistersixt, who donated $$ for device.

This is technical build, just to test all of hardware works fine with open source kernel. Lenovo shared kernel source was incomplete and I had to make dts code from scratch. Please report if anything hardware related broken. Also I have on TB-8704X to test, reports about how it works on TB-8704F and TB-8704V are welcome.

This is great - thank you @highwaystar_ru for your work. I'll test it on my TB-8704X today. Are there plans on upgrading to LineageOS 15.1 or even 16?

Yes, I'm planning to integrate it with https://github.com/lenovo-devs and build Lineage 16.0 soon. There will be not many updates on 14.1, I will upload one updated build today, found that current is incompatible with linked twrp (I tested it only with my own twrp build).

Cheers dev. Seen other models getting LOS and felt a little disheartened, you've now changed that

No, the device is not certified. I am still using Netflix though.

This is awesome. Thanks so much! Only question is do I flash now or wait a few weeks for 15 or 16? ?

Awesome - Thanks. I was stuck on 7.1 anyway as the lenovo Oreo was really bad, I went back to 7.1. Now I'm in a better place, routed and no bloat. Thanks, looking forward to 16!

You are a hero, we all thought this device was dead.

Having issues with two apps: Rotation app not working with YouTube and Adaway freezes when building host files, forced to used power button to restart tablet.
Everything else is working.
Thanks for supporting this tablet model.

I inform you
I've tried your ROM on my Heluim
After updater-script mod - on first line
And ALL 8 CPU CORE working defaultly normally without any modification.
Congrats!
Can somebody test quick charge?can reach 2,4A?
Thank you for your great Rom.
downloading, hopefully there is no issues for Bluetooth calling.
i will give the feedback soon.
Can somebody inform about battery drain issue?...if rom is stable with good battery life then it is worth to try.....
internet connection very slow ,,,,
Guys if your reporting bugs, please be sure to attach a relevant logcat wherever required.
Simply saying 'xyz feature works slow/doesn't work' won't help the developer. Instead it will just clutter the thread.
Hope you guys understand

Since loading of cores works properly as stated by a helium user earlier, there's no other problem that helium users face while flashing hydrogen roms , so it's really a waste of time to build 2 roms which are exactly the same in all aspect, so I can release a build that can be flashed on both hydrogen and helium. But there won't be any seperate zip

You need to unpack this ROM, find updater-script, make modification (replace 2 hydrogen text to helium) and last you need relpace this new updater-script in the ROM.

Which of the two 20181011 versions have you had success with, j19 or j20?
Also, since there is no SU add-on for LOS-16 (yet), I'm wondering about root access.

The j20 one. I didn't need root access on this device so I can't tell. Did you try Magisk; From what I read it works on the los 16 of the standard s4 mini so you could give it a try.

1st impressions of build #24 (no GApps):
almost everything I tried, works: calling, being called, SMS, WiFi, BT, sync. with MyPhoneExplorer, K9-mail, DS-File, Öffi, OSMAnd, ...
so far, just the following problems
- the search-bar (prominently displayed on the home screen) is neither usable nor removable ... or did I miss anything. Installed Lawnchair launcher to get rid of it
- Spotify installs, but doesn't start
- QuickDic (de.reimardoeffinger.quickdic) does not download any dictionaries
Seems to be good enough for daily use (unless you can't live without the two mentioned apps)!!

TB-8704V (Verizon)
If you have TB-8704V tablet, you have to additionaly flash boot.img from link above after rom intsallation. This tablet has some hardware differences from x and f and requires custom kernel to work,
Thanks
Big thank to @mistersixt, who donated $$ for device.

Nice! I’ll give this a test tomorrow ??

Gapps
Are gapps included in rom
There is no gapps in the rom, you have to download it from opengapps.org if needed.
There are reports about bootloop on wifi version of tablet (LTE version works fine), I will upload fixed version tomorrow.
I'm syncing up the sources on my ROM Kitchen now
What are the install steps if I have lineage 16 already installed. i.e. sufficient to use the existing TWRP. Can I have Dirty flash? etc

Okay, I’m on a WiFi only tb8704f, so I’ll wait for the updated ROM.
+1. Same here. Waiting for updated ROM for f.

Full wipe and reinstall for a major version number release like this, I believe. Dirty flash will almost certainly fail. Your existing TWRP should suffice, but you'll need to reflash gapps when you install los17.1
I've uploaded new version, this should resolve issue with 8704f, please try and report if it works or not. Full adb logcat output on boot are welcome too.

Fixed issue running on 8704F (WiFi version)
I has no removing telephony apps after installation on WiFi only tablet.
Branch: lineage-17.1
Hi @highwaystar_ru - if I want to run some tests using your sources which branch should I be syncing to? lineage-17.1 for all of them right?
So far, working very well. No crashes or hangs, everything fast and smooth. Two things that don't work are DT2W but this was already known. The other is USB hubs do not work at all. They do not work on LOS 16 either but they do work on LOS14. A fix for this would be greatly appreciated.
Great work other than that as usual highwaystar.

Yes all lineage-17.1 branches. In latest built these lines are removed to make it bootable on wifi version https://github.com/lenovo-devs/andr.../lineage-17.0/prebuilt/bin/deunify.sh#L16-L30

I just did a clean install of the latest version (lineage-17.1-20200601-UNOFFICIAL-TB8704.zip) and noted that, although I'm on tb8704f, I can still see the "Messaging" app, which wasn't there when I wasn on 16. Looking at the code highlighted in the github link above I wouldn't expect to see Messaging on my device. I was also asked if I wanted to configure a SIM during the first boot and setup.
I rebooted to TWRP, wiped Dalvik, system, data and cache, pushed lineageos and opengapp (full) zips, then installed and rebooted.

Hi,
here you can find my preview build version of LineageOS 17.1 for our Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 devices.
At first I want to thank @forkbomb444, @rINanDO, @ChronoMonochrome for all your work which helped me a lot to bring this up.
This is a preview build, so don't install it if you want a stable rom and don't report my already listet bugs!
Because Android 11 is very similar, I will proceed here:
LineageOS 18.1
I'm working nearly every day on our N80xx devices, but my focus is still mainly on LineageOS 16.0, which runs already pretty good.
Here you can see how far everything is working for now.
Spoiler: Whats working

If you are going to use Gapps,
I recommend to use the pico package!
https://opengapps.org/
For the others, you can use microG if you want, I've enabled signature spoofing.
Do you like my work?
Than you can simply hit the thanks button and consider to spend me a coffee or a beer,
I'm doing this in my free time and it also costs a lot of money to buy hardware.

Spoiler: How to improve GPS
You could use a gps.conf from https://app.box.com/s/w57s1v1n3hie7l5lk28i for your location and replace /system/etc/gps.conf.
Or you try GPS Server Optimizer app for a faster 3D fix.
For both methods you need root rights.
Spoiler: How to install it?

I see that LineageOS 17.1 folder is updated only for the N8010 version. I have a N8000 which is the 3G version. Could I use it anyway?

Because I only build it for N8010, yes you can test this version also on a N8000,
for sure you wont have RIL functioning.
To flash it, you have to change TWRP to N8010 version or modify the install script.

In the end i installed 16.0 . It is a perfect rom and gave a life to my tablet after years. I was trying to use it as a car display unit in my car and thanks to you this will work perfectly. If I see a bug I will right it here but so far it is very smooth. Can't say that this tablet is more than 7 years old. Thank you very much for your time and effort.
I install the Gapps via TWRP. But when the tablet starts and tries to setup the Google, it crushes before it finishes . I can come until to the screen where it asks to sync the tablet with my other devices. I say skip, it loads a bit and crashes . Any idea ?

Which Gapps did you install?
And did you installed them directly after the rom without any reboot?
I made a complete fresh installation yesterday and it worked without any problems.

You are right. I had installed gapps after the first reboot. I re-installed the rom and installed the gapps before the reboot, and now everything is working just fine. Thank you again.
Good Morning!
Once again I come to thank you for the excellent work on our device. I'm taking advantage of your post to find out if you know anything about Lineage 18 for our equipment ?, as a compilation dated 12/13/2020 appeared in Lineage Os Statistics.

This is my build, it's running with the android mainline kernel, so 5.10. There is still some issues and missing drivers, too early for an alpha release, but I'm getting there.

You're telling me that you've got Kernel 5.10 running on these tablets?! That's amazing! Is the source on Github or anywhere? I'd like to take a peek.

In theory this should work as the devices are basically the same from a hardware point of view and the original sources and defconfig have only little differences. It would definitely be interesting to know whether it works.
Unfortunately I havent seen any hardware reports on this device, could you download the following app and upload your report?
Device Info HW - Apps on Google Play
Hardware and software information app for Android devices.
play.google.com
Because Android 11 is very similar and I received already a more stable state, I will proceed here:
LineageOS 18.1
