K20 Pro random crash & reboot - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

I got my K20 pro on 15th running on MIUI v10.3.5.0(PFKCNXM). Installed google stuff & all & it was running fine but after 2 days, from 17th it started random freezing & rebooting. It's really frustrating. Is it just software problem or hardware?

Same here, so i'm guessing it's software issues

Factory reset
Try factory reset, if the problem, continues then maybe it's time to claim warranty.

Is this the China version (PFKCNXM)?
The one sold in India is PFKINXM

Firmware 10.3.16 fixed everything (no NFC)
All my problem with the phone got fixed with chinless Firmware 10.3.16 well everything but NFC(i think they sent me a version without nfc capabilities)

Could you explain in detail how you fixed your phone? My phone still freezes a lot after installing FDE.AI module and i can't seem to get it to work properly without freezing

Did you guys get a factory sealed CN rom version? Mine is 10.3.15 and is running fine (updated OTA last week, its a CN stable version)

How do we get that?

Do you mean how can you get a factory sealed version, or the OTA update?
I wrote about my buying experience here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79918346&postcount=68
About the OTA update, it was automatic on my official stable CN rom (i didnt choose the "fake" Global Rom beta from the Chinese stores)

What I did was
1. Install TWRP Recovery For Redmi K20 Pro (https://www.getdroidtips.com/download-and-install-twrp-recovery-for-redmi-k20-pro-latest/)
2.boot into recovery immediately
3. wipe cache + dalvik art
3. then format
4.reboot to recovery (if you get the chinese recovery just re-Install TWRP Recovery For Redmi K20 Pro}
5. mount the phone and connect to PC
6.Transfer the rom 10.3.16 eu
7.install 10.3.16 eu (https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/redmi-k20-pro-firmware-10-3-8-0-9-6-13-t3939647)

System UI isn't responding

I recently got a Pixel 3 updated to May OTA with Magisk installed. Everything was working fine for a week when all of a sudden, I kept getting "System UI isn't responding". I have tried removing all the root applications and modules but no luck. In the end, I had to flash the Magisk uninstaller via TWRP to stop that error.
Next, I downloaded the June factory image and used the flash-all.bat script to start new. But the same error showed up after flashing Magisk, even though I only had Titanium Backup installed (no other modules or root applications).
Am I doing something wrong or is the phone faulty? I still have time to exchange it for another one.

Are you using magisk hide?
Are you using any magisk module to pass safety met?
After uptating my Xiaomi Mipad 4 Plus to Havoc OS 2.8 and also on my Mi 9 changing the rom from Pixel Experience to Havoc OS 2.8, then I don't get system ui not responding anymore and everything is working fine.
Even with magisk.

Front camera doesn't popup in custom ROM (only Cosmic OS tested)

Hi guys
I'm quite new to the K20 Pro. Last night, my friend asked me to install some custom AOSP ROMs for him. I chose Cosmic OS first since it just got updated recently. Installed and booted up just fine, BUT here's the problem :
- First boot up and installed GCam : front camera pops up fine
- Installed 81Hz mod and Immensity kernel : still pops up fine
- Some Magisk modules like NFS, Viper4android v2.7, Google dialer framework : still pops up fine
- Substratum app and apply Liv Dark theme : front camera STUCKS after a reboot, can't even use the Motor Control app to get it pop up again
So I thought the problem lies in the Substratum and the theme but uninstalling those didn't help, EVEN clean flashing the ROM again. Changing to MIUI 11 EU rom, front camera works fine again.
If anyone knows whether the problem is in the ROM itself or conflict with the modules/theme/mod/kernel or it's a common issues in custom AOSP ROMs then please let me know asap, I'll be very appreciated.
THANK YOU !!!!!!

Nope ! I thought you came back from MIUI 11. If you're jumping within Pie, it's not a problem. There should be no other reason why the Cam won't Pop-up other than the Camera sensor fail. Did you wipe Vendor?.

Yes, I did wiped Vendor
At first I used TWRP 3.3.1-15 by Mauro, 5 wipe and flashing Vendor 10.3.17 + Rom + Gapps but failed at the vendor so I switched to LRTeam TWRP. This time only 4 wipe since there's no Vendor option. Flashing was ok and the phone booted up

Never ever touch vendor again. It's the set of drivers for your device. Go back flash the complete MIUI stock Pie rom and then continue with the Cosmic flash w/o any system/vendor wipes. Data,Cache,Dalvik wipes should be more than enough.

People are just copy pasting tutorials from old devices which have dedicated System, Recovery, Vendor etc partions and and wiping one of these won't crash the device. K20P is a system as a root device and wiping system wipes of everything except vendor. Moreover, wiping System isn't required at all as most of the roms these days have System wipe scripts already baked in and would wipe the system irrespective of whether you wipe it or not. There's no real added advantage of wiping system before you flash the rom. System wipes should only be done occassionally whenever you have really messed up something or getting FC's.

PUBG Lite Crashing

My Redmi 9 is the chinese varient. Yesterday I unlocked my bootloader and flashed the Indian Global Rom via fastboot and rooted using magisk boot patch method.. But my PUBG lite keeps kicking me out of the game after sometimes. It keeps crashing. I have to reopen the game. In the chinese ROM this didn't happen. Everything ran smoothely. Wondering if it's because of magisk or ROM.
Did you restore backup from your chinese rom ?
If you did this . you will face crashing apps problem so don't use any backup unless that you did from your indian rom.
restore your stuff by another method ( backup apps ) or download it manually.

I never heard about this problem on my Xiaomi experience only when I had restore miui global backup to Xiaomi.Eu. Then I got carshing thing.
so maybe because there is not offical kernel code to deal with magisk perfectly.
Good luck

I never had this problem before either. I guess magisk didn't install properly that's why crashing was happening.

Question Mi 11 Ultra reboots to recovery mode several time before rebooting to Miui

Hi guys,
Hope someone can help. It's been month now that this issue has started and I have no clue what it is. So basically I have unlocked my phone and flashed with a custom ROM. However, every time I switch on the phone (I'm one of those who likes having it off at night) it reboots several times to recovery mode, so I have to reboot it again (like 3 or 4 times) until it finally starts up normally to Miui.
Anyone has any clue please??
Thanks a lot
Backup your data, then do a factory reset.
Thanks, I've tried that multiple times actually. Unfortunately it doesn't fix it
Same problem here. Flashed my phone with EU ROM, it will reboot to recovery mode several times before it starts up with normal MIUI. Note: Bootloader was in unlock status. Anyone has a solution?

Same with yours. My phone was purchased in China. In order to use Andriod Auto (Chinese rom does not have AA), I flashed my phone to EU rom (V13.0.7). Because of the region restriction, I have to keep the bootloader unlocked. Then installed Magisk to hide the root in order to use Google Pay. It can reboot without any problem for the first month. Then suddenly it will reboot to recovery mode several times before reboot to normal OS. Never update the rom after flash to EU rom. So I have no clue why it works well at first.

Flashing the latest EEA from, and installing 2 modules to hide that I'm being unlocked the boat loader, from that point if I restart than occurs the recovery boot loop.

Did you test if you flashed fresh your EEA ROM, and doesnt installed one of the modules, does it then also reboot into the recovery bootloop? Im troubleshooting maby the module is corrupt (Magisk props hide / fingerprint).

Im testing a few days, and it seems to be that the Universal Safetynet fix Author Kdrag0n , gives this bootloop Recovery. If I flash fresh a EEA ROM from scratch, and install ONLY this module, then it boots into the recovery WITHOUT TWRP into Recovery MUIU 5.0 and with TWRP in to Recovery TWRP.
Can you test it for me by disabling ONLY this module Safetyfix, and give your phone a reboot, if this still happens boots into the recovery?

I am noticing a large increase in battery consumption with xiaomi.eu 14. Before my battery would drop about 3% while idle about 8 hours sleeping. Now it is 16%.
When I checked battery usage, the bulk was for Android System, but after rebooting the battery usage data seems to have been reset and it's just a flat line.
I also experienced significant issues and even a fresh clean install from TWRP didn't help. I am happy on LineageOS 20 now.
I did another clean install, and after restoring my apps I uninstalled magisk and didn't debloat it, just in case there's an issue there somewhere. After charging it from ~20% to 100%, I used it for awhile. Then for 6 hours of rest, it went from 82% to 80%, so 2% which is about right.
I think the battery may need calibration after the upgrade. I'll probably try to debloat again next. I'm having a lot of issues with magisk lately, though, upgrade or not, so not sure about that.
I installed the update and faced the problem of installing apps from Google Play and apk files
Is there a solution to this problem ?

Hello,
I installed the new Global Rom from Xiaomi EU today. Unfortunately, no apps can be downloaded and install via Playstore.
installing a normal apk does not work either.
It looks like the system has no permissions or they are missing. Does anyone know this problem?
Best regards
Philip

you need to install PackageInstaller.apk and then proceed to install applications
the app is removed from xiaomi.eu rom
System apps in local ROM are modified with their own translation . If the Package installer is used to update, there are collisions/corruption of the translation and some functions.
Therefore, the package installer was removed from the local ROM.

I faced this problem in the official ROM itself, not only in Eu ROM. Applications could not be installed and an error message appeared that no storage space was available, although there was plenty of space available.
Try it out
Factory reset... on your phone!!!
Wiped cache.. Dalvik cache...

in twrp - wipe --internal storage
I don't seem to be having any issues. I dirty flashed over V13.0.16.0.SKFMIXM with TWRP 3.7.0.
