Viper4Android FX v2.7.1.0: Google Camera crash. - Google Pixel 3a Themes, Apps, and Mods

Anyone is using Viper4Android FX v2.7.1.0 (Magisk Module)? Once installed, Google Camera doesn't work anymore. Tried to ask on the official thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-viper4android-fx-2-6-0-0-t3774651
but no answer....
Which version of Viper4Android are you using on a rooted Pixel 3a?

I've been using that version of viper since I got the phone and haven't run into any issues. I do however also have the audio modification library and audio compatibility patch modules installed as well. If those don't help, then I think there is a larger issue.
PS - I've used both the latest stable and the canary Magisk builds without issues.

Which kernel are you using? I'm using ElementalX 1.05.
Tried with audio modification library and compatibily patch modules but didn't work. Everytime i start the google camera, it crashes.

Ok, so... same as me.
Really, i don't know where to start. I've flashed stock rom wiping everything some days ago. So, my phone is clean. I've the latest Magisk stable and elementalx 1.05.
All i can do is try to dirty flash stock rom again and install twrp, magisk and elementalx and try another time.
About audio compatibily patch, there are really too many options and i don't know where to start to install it correctly..... but i don't think google camera crashes because of that......
Same problem if i install Viper4Android FX Legacy module.

I would be surprised if the audio compatibility patch caused an issue too. Honestly I had forgotten about the initial options that I had to choose when I installed it. I just uninstalled it and reinstalled it and only chose the "notification remover" option and then opted out of the lib use (last option). I use the headphone jack, so I don't need a USB DAC (does this phone even have one?), nor do I use Spotify, etc.
However, it is important to install the audio modification library last. It should find both the Audio Compatibility Patch as well as Viper4Android and patch both to work together. I might suggest that you uninstall it, reboot, and reinstall it to ensure it is actually patching both audio modification. Also, make sure the driver is actually installed in Viper if you end up reinstalling any of these mods as you might find that the driver isn't actually installed. It's a long shot, but perhaps that would fix your issue.
I'm also using the leaked camera version 6.3.017.253834016 currently (because it has the night sight setting as a main option instead of buried in the "more" settings). But this really shouldn't matter and the stock camera app worked just fine too. Viper4Android is always one of the first mods I install on a phone and it has never given me a problem on my 3a XL or caused the camera to stop working.

Tried exactly what you said. Same issue, Google Camera crashes on start. Every V4A version i tried, same thing.... Well, i don't know what to try more..... Asked on official V4A thread but no answer. Is there any way to provide logs to discover what happen?
EDIT: I've attached a logcat, if you know what could be the problem i will be happy

Dirty flashed August factory image, Elementalx, TWRP and Magisk. Same issue. Anyone who can help me taking a look at the logs?

Im on 2.5.0.5 and i have no issues so far with the camera app.
The only issue that i have is that v4a is marked as harmful by Google protect. Anyone else?

Pixel 2 xl user here with the latest viper4android on android 10, same camera app is crashing on me
stock 10 with sultan kernel installed and magisk 20.1

I've never had any real issues getting Viper4Android to work on Android 10, but I understand it is a common issue. Here is a Pixel 4 thread on installing Viper4Android on Android 10 and how they got it to work. The fact that it is on a Pixel 4 device is irrelevant. Perhaps this can help you get the driver installed.
PS - I should mention that I already was using the audio compatibility module and the audio modification module prior to moving to Android 10, so it is quite possible that is why I never experienced any issues.

Help with installing Viper4Android.

I have tried installing different ROMs like Cyanogen 14.1 (LineageOS), AOSP, and XenonHD all of which are based on 7.1.1 r6, but I haven't been able to install Viper4Android 2.4.0.1.
First of all, I don't really know how to make a clean install but I had installed SuperSU 2.79, SElinux Mode Changer and BusyBox by Stericsson.
The only thing I have achieved was for V4A to process only media files inside storage. Soundcloud, Youtube, and any other app did not get processed by it. :crying:
Please, can someone help me install a version of 2.4.0.1 that works?
PD: I dob't want the newer 2.5.0.5 because I don't like the new UI. Viper4Arise is also acceptable .:good:
Did you uninstall AudioFx that came in with CM? I was able to flash viperdroid and make it work by removing it first.

The thing is, on my other phone, when I went to the System App Uninstaller with Root, I was able to find MusicFX, but on CM there is only a misterious thing called CM Audio Serivice and a thing called Ant HAL.
I can only get it partially working though.
I have found soume posts on the official Viper4Android XDA forum saying you have to make a clean rom installation, remove audio_effects.conf, install v4a, then supersu, then Selinux changer, then busybox, finally install v4a drivers and then remove Deep_buffer entries from Audio_policy_configuration.conf
I'll try it this weekend when I have time though.
In my CM 14.1 didnt have much difficulty though in flashing viper4droid. Hope u fix yours.

Uninstall the viper apk..And flash viper4arise zip on twrp..
Thanks, but I am looking for a systemless install.
This has been working and others report it's working (on other devices though).
I wonder if anyone has tried it on a 3T with Nougat.
So is it possible to get it working systemless? Thanks!
You can use viper4rarise with magisk. Safetynet not triggered. But the problem is selinux status. Its always enforcing for some reason. But yi can change it from terminals using setenforce 0 command. Then it works. You need to do it every time after reboot. I tried to make selinux permissive. Bug it triggers safetynet. So im swt with running everytime post reboot

Systemless user here. If you're interested, I've created a Magisk module of ViPER4Android 2.3.4.0, which in my opinion is the best version as it had drivers of different quality you could choose. My Magisk module runs on Super High Quality.
And yes, I'm running it on Nougat/OOS 4.0.2. If you want it on Open Beta, send me the following files:

Not a problem. Let me know how it goes.
I installed your module. How do I know if it's working properly? I tried changing settings while using google play music but didn't hear any changes. Driver status is enabled but processing shows "no".
Edit: tried listening a podcast and viperfx seems to be working. I can hear changes in sound. How can I get google play music also working?

I forgot about that. At the moment I cannot get streaming via Play Music working with ViPER's FX Compatible Mode set as normal. Only locally stored music played in Play Music will make ViPER work with it.
However, setting ViPER's FX Compatible Mode to Compatible will make it work with both local and streaming music in Google Play Music, along with other audio apps.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Viper works here for everything but Google play music. The files you're modifying don't include the XML files, from experience in Nougat just modifying the conf files didn't make any difference, but I may be wrong (Certainly sounds so). What changes did you make may I ask? Removing deep buffer and raw only makes any difference for me if I modify the XML files in Nougat.

AFAIK the only way to uninstall would be to dirty flash your Lineage OS ROM (reinstall Lineage without wiping your data. Just wipe your Cache and Dalvik Cache). This should keep all your apps and settings intact but remove V4A and ARISE and reinstall the stock drivers that come with Lineage. In my case I also had to reinstall Magisk.
---------- Post added at 11:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:05 PM ----------
This doesn't work for me on LineageOS for MicroG 16 (Google Pixel XL 'marlin'). ARISE crashes, and V4A tells me I need to reinstall the driver every time I open it. After reinstalling, it tells me I need to reboot. After I reboot, I tells me I need to install the driver again and this loop just continues forever.
Unluckily here doesn't work and crash all the time.
I guess no way to uninstall, right?
I am on latest havoc os for mido...

Dirty flash of Rom should remove the mod. But don't you have any remnants of other mods left? Something like that caused crashes to me some time ago. Additionally, I had to remove Audio Modification Library from Magisk to get this work.

top magisk modules

Just rooted my Pixel 3a last night running Android Q Beta 6. What are some good magisk modules that I should install to make the Pixel 3a even better? Thanks
Active Edge Mod for Pixel Devices - allows you to customize the side sensor buttons. I have it set up to the default Google assistant except when the camera is open - then it takes a picture.
Viper4 AndroidFX - there are several versions available. They all use the same driver and have the same options. The difference is is only in the GUI.
Vanced Youtube - provides ad free Youtube experience.
Advanced Charging Controller (by VR25) - allows a user to customize how and when the phone is charged. It helps prolong the battery life.
Systemless Hosts - more of a Magisk setting, but it does install this module. Allows ad blocking through Adaway or similar ad blocking app.

the active edge guy is SUPER on the ball and posts updated versions in his telegram group if you're that way inclined. but yeah youtube vanced is my only functioning module right now. i'm sure most of them will be updated for Q in the coming months.
I'm a fan of energized pro for ad blocking, but you'll need the systemless hosts and BusyBox modules for it to work. These days I root my phone mainly for ad blocking.

I don't think you need to uninstall the actual Youtube app, but you do need to uninstall any "updates" for the Youtube app. I've found that after installing the Magisk module, I can go into the Playstore and pull up the Youtube app. There will be a "uninstall updates" button where the normal uninstall button would be. However you need to install the module first. Otherwise the button will uninstall the app instead of uninstalling the updates.
That's been my experience at least.....

Here you have the APK. Install it and then the driver installation should install the magisk module.
I have the 2.7.1.0 version of Viper4Android installed and working just fine on Android 10. It was installed and working on Android 9 and it continued to work when I upgraded to Android 10. I sideloaded the .020 version of the Android 10 OTA image.
The Magisk module was last updated on May 31, 2019, so it obviously hasn't specifically been updated for Android 10. Perhaps it won't install on Android 10, but will work if upgraded from Android 9. I also have the Audio Modification Library module and the Audio Compatibility Patch module installed as well. Perhaps that makes a difference?????

Yes. You have to install V4A FX v2.7.0.0 because v2.7.1.0 driver installation is broken on Q for now.

I'm using V4A 2.7.1.0 on Q and it's working fine. I had to flash Ainur, Audio Modification Library and Audio Compatibility Patch to get it work though!

Just rooted my Pixel 3a last night running Android Q Beta 6. What are some good magisk modules that I should install to make the Pixel 3a even better? Thanks

Open Magisk, go into settings, scroll down and click on Systemless Hosts, reboot, then install Adaway. Boom! system wide adblocking.

Viper4android Android 11??

There is viper4android for android11 or I need to wait?
Based on the research I've done we'll have to wait. There was an update to the magisk module September 12th but based on the change log it doesn't pertain to Android 11.
I wasn't able to enable tethering or install viper therefore I rolled back to 10 and will continue to monitor.
Thanks ?
Just tried this and it does seem to be working. Haven't fully tested it yet though. But I didn't bootloop and viper seems to work. Pixel 3a XL on Android 11. Rooted with Magisk Canary, e66b0bf3 (20425).

This worked for me the first time. Pretty much flash/reboot and you're done... no separate APK, no extra reboot to install the driver. I'm somewhat amazed.

I can only imagine that whoever made this ZIP removed the need for the driver? I'm not quite sure either. But I scanned it for any malware or viruses and it is cleaned. Worked on the first flash and no bootloop so it seems to be legit.
I found mention of alpha versions of Viper being released elsewhere... I assume this is a product of that. I took a look at the scripts and it does mention moving native libraries around to various places and the embedded APKs and misc files looked similar to what I'd expect from the Android 10 version. It was just nice that the Magisk script did everything in one go instead of having to follow order-sensitive instructions with other Magisk modules then retrying the driver install until it stuck.
That said, the alpha thread said it cannot be used with the audio modification library module... bootloops to having your sim cards not be detected were reported until only Viper was installed.
Here is the alpha release post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83525879&postcount=4371
The YouTube link has a matching CRC to this one.
I flashed this one, but it's distorting my external speakers and is buggy, but it does process...so BE CAREFUL. This will get you there until a more stable version is out.
