Verizon Update - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

Has anyone actually received the Verizon Pie update? When I check for updates through OTA and the Software Update Tool, it still says that the May 1st update is the current one.

I'm on Verizon as well and haven't received the update OTA nor through the update tool. Verizon's changelog says it was released on the 27th, hopefully by Monday they actually push it out.

Nope. Been obsessively checking since Friday and tried the thing to clear data on Google Services Framework and force the download, but that didn't help either.

It appears Verizon has now removed any reference to the update on their Z2 update page.

Crap, you're right. I wonder how long we'll be waiting

Just got the update notification. Downloading now.

Can one of you send a screen cap of the update info you see, or if you already updated, send a screen cap of the version info?

Here you go

Would someone with the OTA be able to copy the below link and type in their serial number at the end? It is an OTA capture tool and the last bit is for the serial number if this is a serial staged roll out. Without the serial, Motorola's OTA server is sending a denial. If it does work, can you download the OTA file and share it?

Ty for trying. We found a way on the Z2 discord to pull the OTA link with another variant and adb.

Got it also

Is there any way to get it working on my z2 force sprint variant??

I highly suggest not trying. 4 phones already got bricked trying to take the Pie update on a variant it wasn't for in the discord. Two got baseband issues and two more won't boot or show any signs of life.

Received 9.0 upgrade push this morning, upgraded, great

Were the failed phones tmobile or sprint variants though?
The sprint variant is way closer to the verizon than the tmobile one, hardware wise. I can run stock Verizon Oreo on my sprint for example, and even enable stuff like wifi calling on native verizon.

Does anyone think the clock in the top left looks weird?

That is very much an interesting development. I converted my Sprint Z2 to a Verizon Z2 and saw on the discord that a few people were having issues with bricks, I just assumed the update itself was killing the phones. It's quite possible that there is something that is killing these phones. Some sort of check to verify the integrity of the phones or something. Though it's quite annoying that my phone is continuously trying to update itself despite the fact it can't take the pie update.

That is indeed the case, I am running the Sprint Z2 Force with Verizon Firmware and it's working fine, even WiFi Calling and VoLTE. The issue now is that Pie is trying to download itself. I would like to try to update the phone and report back if it decided to kill itself but I can't capture the OTA.

Yes, I hate it and have been trying all of the options to move it (system UI tuner and other status bar apps), but none of them worked for me. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Downloading Android Upgrade 353MB

My wife told me she got an Android Upgrade over night. I am downloading as we speak. Hopefully it fixes the touchscreen misses.
@Brutal-Force What version it is?
Android version 5.1

Kernel version
3.10.49

I have no idea what updated. Personally I think it feels like more lag now, but it was very hot after update. Security update???
Just got the update downloaded as well. Which is odd as I followed the guide on using debloater to stop the updates...

It same update we are talking about. Keyboard lag is fix. Few hour after update phone was hot. Now its normal.

Is there any carrier that allows you to rollback software versions? Carrier IQ is made for diagnostics for when something goes wrong with your phone. This helps them determine what is wrong with the device in order to further troubleshoot. With that said, AT&T also has this on their version.
Am I misunderstanding anything?

Was able to roll back on both my g2 and g3 wwith ease and this is the only one of the three that had carrier iq on it...carrier iq's main purpose is to tell carriers that you have rooted your device so they can refuse to fix it or even troubleshoot over the phone...verizon did this and voided my insurance that i was paying extra for

Well, that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear that you can't trust Verizon, AT&T or TMO. Unfortunately, these three are the biggest carriers. Are you going to start looking elsewhere for service?

AT&T Galaxy S6 OTA upgrade 3/3/2016

Anyone else receive this OTA this morning? I didn't see, or look for, a detailed change log before proceeding with the OTA push. Phone rebooted and is optimizing apps right now. I'll provide further details once it finishes.
I know, for sure, that I checked for new software within the past week or so and there was nothing available. I've been up to date with OTA upgrades since getting this phone on day one of its release.
Anyone know anything about this upgrade?
Model number: SAMSUNG-SM-G920A
Android version: 5.1.1
Android security patch level: 2016-02-01

Probably just updating security mostly since we were a few months behind. Could also be preparing our phones to take take 6.0 update since there's usually a small update before a big one. Wouldn't hold my breath on it though

Don't try to apply this update if you've applied one of the leaked insecure boot images (for getting a root prompt). There's a check of the boot image built into the updater and if you attempt installation it will wipe your phone back to stock.
D**k move Samsung, d***k move.
I was a fool to initially think that the update juuuuuust might be Marshmallow. And then I thought, "I have AT&T. They would've made the announcement before just releasing the OTA. Hell, they would've made a big deal out of it, even; as if they're doing us a favor. " And so, I took a Valium and went to sleep.
This update seems to break mms for many of the users myself included verified with AT&T that is indeed related to it Samsung is on process of updating. Anyway if you happen to get it just boot your phone to safe mode and then use mms there and restart back to normal, it works after . And hopefully marshmallow will be soon

I'm still getting MMS texts, what was broken?
So far I've noticed my battery life is better than it was before, on the OJ7 update i had a very odd drain as well as issues with my bluetooth and wifi that were only fixed with a reboot......so far knock on wood they seem to be resolved but it should take a few more days to fully confirm. I did also try Enhanced LTE again and just as before I had a nice drain on my battery so they still don't have that working great yet (my area has weak LTE and switches between LTE and 4G on a normal basis).

AT&T Galaxy S6 Marshmallow OTA In Next Few Days Confirmed

The support page for the Galaxy S6 has been updated to reflect that it’s going to receive the Marshmallow update on AT&T in the near future. The support page shows that version number G920AUCU3CPC2 will land on the handset, bumping it up to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Now that it has been confirmed that the update is going to start rolling out soon it’s not going to take long for the OTA to hit the airwaves
Nice.. I hope the edge is updated at the same time
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk
Well I see that the OTA can be manually downloaded and installed on the S6, hopefully the file for the S6 Edge is uploaded soon.
i gotta wait fot the odin ?
What's funny is that the build that is available for the s6 is nearly 2 months old so clearly AT&T has just been sitting on it. It has the March security update, not even the April. If this is indeed the final build and what we will see on the S6 Edge I'm very disappointed in both AT&T and Samsung. The 2016 Nexus can't come out fast enough for me.
I know that back in the day we were able to flash 920 Images onto the 925 but would lose the edge features. which . . . havbe been pretty ****ty TBH
+1
So apparently in the regular s6 thread going on they found there are much newer versions of 6.0.1 available right now, the latest being PD6 vs the PC2 reference by samsung that's nearly 2 months old. I guess Samsung jumped the gun and posted the wrong build so we have literally no idea when the update is actually coming right now.
I have absolutely had it with AT&T, their utterly STUPID reps, and their mind-numbingly slow software updates. If anyone else is in the same boat, I ask you to call them whenever you have free time and literally bug the living **** out of them. This is the only way we'll get the update sooner and if nothing else, it's payback. Here's some arguments I've used:
Other carriers have had it for weeks
Two months (today) since the last update
Marshmallow came out 7 ****ING MONTHS AGO and they have a whopping 4-5 phones updated to it (s7, g5, g4, g3, and v10 pretty sure)
Android N is already late in the beta stages
Also, ask for a manager or supervisor. They're more likely to escalate this issue to the higher-ups.
At this point, I honestly think it's just a way of them forcing us into buying the s7. From a business perspective, it makes perfect sense. They do it every year, they don't give us any information on the development of the software, and if no one makes a big deal over it, what's in it for them? Absolutely ****ing nothing.
Together maybe we can move them along.... slightly.

I really wouldn't waste your time/effort on this. AT&T is already aware, and they do not care.
Do you really want to get their attention? Stop buying their branded phones (a lesson I keep having to tell myself since purchasing this AT&T GS6 Edge..). This is a HUGE revenue stream for them - both from the sale of the actual phones at jacked up prices, as well as the kickbacks received from 3rd party bloatware contracts. Get an unbranded unlocked phone and make AT&T your dump pipe. They hate being that.
Suffice to say, I plan on getting either the HTC 10 or one of the new Nexus phones this year. Update and bloatware problems solved.
EDIT: MAJOR props to jetta311xx! He found a new .bin for MM for our GS6 Edges. See below:

Troy - I was looking around, and you may want to try rebooting your workstation if you're sure you're running the most recent version of adb. This should resolve the cannot read issue.

I've tried restarting, reinstalling, re-anything lol. Also tried using .bin and .zip with no luck. Is there a video tutorial anywhere? Good luck to you, and let me know if you figure anything out!
I wish I had better news for you guys. It just seems that ADB can be a little finicky - it's not the update file. I ran into the same issue and once ADB decides to start doing this, it doesn't even bother reading the file.
These are the steps I took and I eventually got it to work:
Make sure that the update file is in the same directory as ADB
Verify that you are running the latest version of ADB
Rename the update to a short filename like "ota" and add the .zip extension
Verify in cmd that the file renamed with only a .zip extension and not something else (eg: not ota.zip.bin or ota.zip.zip)
Restart your computer
Before plugging phone in, run "adb devices" and verify daemon is started with no devices listed
Plug phone in and enter adb sideload mode
Run adb devices again and verify the presence of your device
Run adb sideload update.zip
If doing things in this order doesn't work, all I can suggest at that point is to completely remove all ADB installations, reboot, and do a fresh install of the latest version of ADB. Some people have reported success with going the nuclear route and loading the latest SDK, but it's all very much YMMV.
Its here and working!!!

Software Update 12-14-17

Hey all,
Sprint variant. Just had an update pushed to the phone. Now ends in QK3... Any idea if this might address network performance issues? I was having initial connection delays when loading web/internet apps... Have been using a dns changer as a workaround that uses a local VPN to use openDNS as it may have been a DNS issue that was borked in the previous patch. Thanks!
I saw the update too, it showed up on mine around 9am EST. I've yet to do it, though, since I don't know what's included.

Hi all. Have any of you try flashing the N950U1 2BQK1 firmware on Sprint Note 8 and get VoLTE or WiFi calling? Back in August Sprint start pushing the VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling update on the Galaxy S8, not sure if Sprint did change their CSC so you can used the U1 firmware and get Full VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling like T-MOBILE or Verizon. I have an AT&T Note 8 and Verizon Note on Verizon service running on the new updated N950U1 2BQK1 firmware. I currently don't have Sprint service now but planning to get 1 line's

Just want to find before I get a line, I prefer Samsung only firmware instead of carrier bloatware firmware. I like spam feature on stock Samsung unlock firmware, plus better battery life and performance.

I am on the BQK1 firmware on Sprint.
WiFi calling is enabled automatically
VoIP is working with manual settings through shortcut master lite...I've posted the settings in various locations...
BlueFox beat me to the punch. I use N950U1 2BQK1 firmware*on my note as well.

TMO 6t update incoming..

Guessing it's 9.05. won't be sure until I reboot.

9.05 is OnePlus's software version.

Doesn't seem to include 9.0.5's feature set, so it may be based on it stability and system improvements wise, but doesn't add some if not most of the perks of the actual OOS build, no wonder it took so long to be released...

Yeah that's definitely a plus, it was one of the reasons I converted, worked so much better on 9.0.5, good for everyone who's still on stock, device works better now and they said nightmode got an update too, so pics should be nicer in the dark.
So they added the stability updates, but ripped out everything else it seems. Not cool. Wonder how long it'll actually take us to get the 9.05 build.

Someone said black friday, so roughly a week from now, sit tight and see what happens in a week.
Eh in that case I'll just wait a couple more days to get my token and move straight to international 9.0.5. I wonder what they did to the Unlock app. Lol.

The update mentions something about updating the Unlock app. I mean obviously for us it's not a big deal anymore, but I wonder if they fixed the problem where people were only getting temporary unlocks approved but perm unlocks pushed through.

Orrrrr maybe they fixed that possible bug where people would request permanent unlocks immediately at purchase and got approved despite being on eip and under 40 days, some even tried within the first 24hrs and got approved automatically for some odd reason, lol.

Yeah true. Gonna make it harder for perm unlocks!
Got this off reddit. Seems to add the new gestures from 9.0.5(?) as well as other improvements. Can someone who got this update on the TMO firmware check to see if the gestures are actually the ones in the latest update. Then we can confirm that the TMO variant just has a different naming convention.
Also, the build of that is 181029 while the 9.0.5 intl. is 181103

What's quick launch? Boost mode? If so its not in this update. Nor are the live wallpapers or new info screen.
Just got it minutes ago:
