I ran the geekbench CPU benchmark and my scores have dropped dramatically from before. I am getting 1656 for single core and 6816 for multicore. Have they underclocked the CPU to improve the battery endurance? I even tried resetting the phone to factory settinga but it made no difference.

cant play games after pie update.. pubg, asphalt 9 lags now too much..

Is battery life increased significantly? Is there any camera improvement or any other improvements after the update?

Yes battery seems to be improved but thats probably because they downclocked the CPU to SD820 levels. Quality is more or less the same i.e. good. There are some extra camera fratures which I havent explored.

Camera menu is changed. Not vey good cos we have to go through each mode to reach the main camera menu. But we can set up how we like. Also triple shot has some added features while creating the final video. There are probably more.

Yup.. Battery life is improved significantly.. Used to get 3.5 to 4 hours of sot before.. Now always getting 4.30+ Hours sot.. But the phone's performance reduced drastically compared to oreo.. You can feel stuttering here n there, even scrolling is not smooth compared to oreo.. Gaming is worst..

Nexus 5 CPU thermal throttling

Ok bad news, I use system tuner + stability test apps and the cpu slow down to 1119 Mhz. This explains low scores in some benchmarks.

Why is that bad news? I've set my cpu speed to 1200mhz and have been running chrome without hiccups. I don't think it actually affects performance that much.

But benchmarks man....Seriously though the phone is screaming fast so I say let it save some battery by throttling down.
Every phone, including the Iphone throttles. Unless there is evidence that N5 throttles a lot more than other S800 phone in non-benchmark tasks this is nothing to worry about imo.
Established behavior. Other phones detect benchmarking software and go full throttle to look better on paper than they are in use.

I have now played many games on my Nexus 5 and I haven't noticed any impact on the performance when playing for long periods of time. Whereas Nexus 4 would slow down dramatically once the throttling comes.

Funny, my gnex is just as smooth as the new n5. Gnex is running 4.3.1, but I also loaded a couple kk roms and also just as smooth as the n5. Doesn't take much to run an android os, but other things go a helluva lot faster on the n5 with the 4 cores and faster clock speeds.

incredicontrol, kernel tuner and nofrills arent working for me, you can set the max freq but the cpu ignores the limit

SetCpu works like a charm.
I've only made 3 conditions for it.
when locked: 300/300
chrome: 300/1200
otherwise: 300/800
What's amazingly surprising is the phone is still very snappy with these frequencies. Sometimes I disable the profiles just to play around but when I'm looking for battery savings I enable them.
With stability test only 30 seconds for the CPU to drop to 1119 Mhz

I only care about throttling if it affects overall performance. So far users report smooth browsing and gaming in the most demanding situations, so it's cool. Nexus devices never fared well at benchmarks anyway.
Another dissapointing... I suppose this is what they were talking about when said "power saving".
PD: Cooltool + setcpu

check that if you want to see the effect of throttling in gaming

That's the problem with having more cores, developers are still making things for older (and more prevalent) hardware. Same thing happened in the early days of multi-core CPUs in computers as well. To begin with you got far worse performance on a dual core 1.5Ghz machine than on a single core with 2Ghz because the OS and applications didn't use the second core. Fortunately phone evolution is way faster and I expect games and apps to take advantage of all the cores much sooner than it happened on PC.
As on the nexus 4, I have no doubt that we will be able to turn off thermal throttling with custom kernels

Which CPU binning do I have (3 different values?)

Hey there, from what I read there are 3 methods for finding out your CPU binning. I did them and each one gives me different results. Which one is the correct one?
cat /proc/cpu/msm_acpu_pvs - result "8"
/sys/module/clock_krait_8974/parameters table_name - result "qcom,speed2-pvs13-bin-v1"
/sys/module/clock_krait_8974/parameters pvs_config_ver - result "3"
From what I testes -50mV is possible but crashes with battery below 15% and in AnTuTu stability test. -25mV works stable.
Thanks
The top one is your PVS.

Thanks so I am with PVS 8 which is nothing to be sad about I believe.
Too bad that -25mV is all that works
why would you be sad about your phones binning? all it does is tell you which voltage table it yses, absolutely nothing else. mines a bin 5, and im very happy with my device.

generally, the higher pvs your device is, the lower voltage it uses by default. how much each device can undervolt will only be up to your device. each device it will differ, doesnt matter what your binning is.

Highest Antutu Scores EVER on a Huawei P8 Lite!

BIGGEST SCORES EVER IN ANTUTU 6.2 !!!
News: I touched 50.000 points in latest Antutu version with the same tweaks from below, just that downscale texture is disabled.
News: @HaiderHady has touched 40.000 POINTS IN ANTUTU! Congratulations!
Code:
[I][U]OLDER POST[/U][/I]
Same settings as below--
Ran Antutu 5.7.1 and...
But first,[U] I know[/U] this is not newest Antutu but at that time when the older biggest score on (35186) was on Lollipop, same as now EMUI 3.1 B204, in Q1-Q4 2015 there was no Antutu 6.2. All 35XXX scores were made on 5.7.1 of Antutu, and in dates differing from Q1 2015 to Q1 2016, where there was no EMUI 4.
THE SCORE IS..... (drum beats...) 42.474!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOWOWOwowowow. But, don't get too excited, the resolution scaling and everithing was turned down or off to get that performance, the kernel needs A LOT of optimizations to get that performance
~This is just a proof of concept that you can squeeze such performance for such of a low-budget device. It is just 1000 points far from a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but that I'm sure it's ran just like this, with no extreme downscalling~
There will be a screenshot, just squeeze your eyes and see that is for real 42.474 and it beats the Note 4 in some categories
Rooted, GlTools installed went to antutu bench and 3d bench and put:
-Anti Aliasing disabled
-Lower render resolution 0.25x
-Force 16Bit Rendering
-Optimize GLSL shaders
-Texture decompression disabled
-Texture recompression disabled
-Downscale textures 1x1
-Half-Float texture hack
~Other settings:
-Force GPU redering on in dev. options
Code:
[U][I]OLDER POST[/I][/U]
The score: 33055
I will let screenshots later. Why? I want to test one more time with the power management option on "Performance" because that was on "intelligent" and the battery was on red indicator when I ran the benchmarks (>20)
EDIT: Got even higher scores!-- Disabled force 4xMSAA -> Got 334XX something
Will let screenshots

Why use 4XMSAA...... It decreases performance as it is an anti aliasing option ....
P.S. -I will never use a custom kernel on EMUI because the device becomes slower
-THIS IS NOT THE HIGHEST SCORES OF A P8LITE! The Highest score is on EMUI 3.1, not 4, maybe I will test and EMUI 3.1 and try to get an even higher score (but I don't know if there was used an custom kernel or not)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, i got just 28000 with Force GPU rendering in dev. options. I searched on google Huawei P8 Lite Antutu and went to pictures and almost every photo was saying "35XXX", but I saw the scores are on Antutu 5.7.1-5.7.3 .Maybe the Antutu is "more heavy"
I will re-run the Benchmark with GlTools and everything on disabled and see what I score.
Still, I feel that EMUI 3.1 is a lot smoother than 4, I don't know why the scores a lower
EDIT: In detail, the score is 28802

Is the default.
All that benchmark app only use 4 cores, they can't stress enough the cpu to bring all 4 cores in Huawei.
For example my old 4 cores Alcatel reach the same values and it have the same cpu speed.
90% of the apps only need one core to work so...

Sorry for non-responding, done how you told me, with no gltools tweak and got a score of 28308. I'm seeing that 3D scores ale lower than usual, and a small difference in other categories. I'm sure if we would've got OpenGL 3.0 we would get a lot more in scores, because unlocks the "marooned" test
P.S. The 42.XXX score is achieved in Antutu 5.3.1 with gltools tweaks, the scores I gave you are in 6.2, with no gltools tweak and dev. options turned off

Gaming in mi5 is worse

Im using Xiaomi mi5 for a long time. when i first downloaded PUBG mobile my expectations was high. But when i started playing the reality is worse. The game is lagging all the time in my phone. And still now i can't play a single match of PUBG mobile without lagging in my device. Though it has Snapdragon 820 chipset and 3 gb of ram but it can't handle this game. Why?? My friends are playing in there note 4x or other low end device smoothly. My rom is global stable 9.6 with latest update. And rom is totally free. But my ram performance is poor. I can use only 700-800 mb out of 3gb of ram!! The biggest question is what should i do now?? I used all the tricks and methods that are available in YouTube and Google. Should i go for Chinese rom?? Should i root my device and use custom rom?? What should i do for play PUBG mobile in my Xiaomi mi5 device without lagging and heat issues. Please suggest.... ??
Played Pubg moblie with RR oreo darkness
here's the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1et7UJfSQlIuUvkGLlCst60sLgXEEuJ16/view
Getting 60fps with high setting with no lag whatsoever and ram management is also far superior for example I tried playing asphalt 9 and pubgM simultaneously and they both were in memory hope it helps you. if still don't want to flash custom ROM you can try GFX tool from play store to reduce the screen resolution and other graphics settings of the game without rooting your device.
I've been having this problem since the day PUBG released. Anyway, I've tried many ROMs and kernels with PUBG performance as the sole requirement. I've found that any custom ROM based on Oreo had serious battery drain issues. Only MIUI has acceptable battery on Oreo, but still unacceptable performance on PUBG. To overcome this issue I installed LOS 14.1 with MrMathematica's kernel. This is the only ROM and kernel combo I think is perfect for battery life, PUBG performance and overall stability. Can be used as daily driver definitely as well. This does give me better PUBG performance with less overheating than Oreo ROMs, but I wouldn't call it a major upgrade on the graphics front. I manage to get stable fps on smooth/medium settings for almost throughout the match. Overall fps stability and its duration is still much much better than MIUI Global. Hope this helps!
---------- Post added at 06:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:46 PM ----------
I also would like to point about the poor thermal management and throttling issue on Mi 5. Compared to a similar device (oneplus 3), the performance is worse on Mi5. My friend has a one plus 3 and Mi5 always feels inferior in PUBG to me.
---------- Post added at 06:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:50 PM ----------
Also, I wouldn't recommended using GFX Tool. I did see MAJOR improvement on using this, but that was short lived. Heating is the culprit here. Every time I used GFX Tool on the many different ROMs I tried, I invariably went back to using the stock game settings. Stable medium fps for longer is still better than high, fluctuating fps and overheating.

Mi 5 not that worse
actually mi 5 not that worse like u think, that make lag every where when playing PUBG its thermal trothling from ROM its self, many rom make mi 5 temp keep cooling while playing game and that make for some game that need more performance become lag ( choppy ) . im just use MIU MS rom and do little trick with replace 2 file thermal config on system/vendor/etc with custom thermal file that someone here build on xda ( u can search on this forum about cust thermal throttle mi 5 ). u will get no lag for playing pubg with hdr and extreme mode ...but if u dont care about batterylife and want to know truely performance about mi 5 u can install cosmic os ... that rom will show u truely performance when playing hard graphic games
I found that it's quite important not to charge the phone at the same time and to remove the cover if you have any so that the phone can cool down better.
Also, The new MIUI 9.6.x.x is not very good...go back to 9.5.x.x until they come up with a good stable Oreo MIUI. The weekly Oreo seems much better at this moment.

Leeco le 2 Benchmarks and performance

I know that our 2016 le 2 is not going to break any land speed records but I'm just curious about what figures it can post. I am a fan of benchmark scores and before you crucify me, yeah! I know benchmarks don't show real world performance. But would it hurt to run them? FOR SCIENCE??
Anyway, let's get away from the politics a bit and share the best benchmark scores we've managed on our lowly le 2. It doesn't matter if it is the famous Antutu, Geekbench, 3DMark, benchmark pi, a1 SD bench, or whatever you had a go at. Just share it here for the world to see.
Sharing Format
Please attach a screenshot of whichever benchmark you ran and the score you got. Also tell us which ROM you were using, if you had installed any custom kernel, overclocks, and any other tweaks that could have led you to that marvelous score.
Example:
I recently did a 3DMark test on my le 2 (find the screenshot(s)) attached. My phone is running SmallEUI version 3, illusion kernel v. 2.5, and I had all cores locked on performance. I also had a fan blowing at my phone for a cooling breeze.
PE 9.0

Nice scores. My phone on PE 9 scored 67k on Antutu. Must have been a glitch. Were you running any mods?
Edit:Since you cannot post links yet I've taken your images and put them here to help anyone viewing this in one stop. Hope you don't mind.
Nop. Immediately after flashing rom ran the tests. Is your phone new? Which version, x526?

My phone is less than 2 months old. I must have done something wrong to get such a low score. Your 3D bench looks like mine when I was running smallEUI. I'm installing Arrow OS Pie today. Someone recommended it to me so I am going to try it today.
Edit: again reposted your photos from imgur.
Mine is week and half. I really want to flash bunch of roms, but this one just works too good so I can't justify it. Have fun and good luck. Btw I noticed in other threads other people having ~70k score, so it's not just you.

Yesterday I tried Arrow OS pie and Lineage 16. They had same problems as most other pie ROMS so I removed them both. My phone is a x526, the 3/64 GB version. On Arrow OS with overload kernel, I got 110k Antutu. Lineage got 105k with stock kernel. But performance is nothing without stability. Especially the camera because my phone is a daily driver. How's your camera working?

Damn, 110k. My brothers rn5 got 115k lol. Latest PE is great. It's stable, I don't notice any UI lag. Camera used to close before when trying to record or night mode, especially if I was in a dark room, but now never. I wiped cache before and after dirty flashing update.
Mine is 3/32gb version
Here's mine, I'm using Havoc OS 9 latest build with Overload Kernel

111k is quite impressive. I'm pretty sure we cannot do much better.

I'm pretty sure overclocking will work but that will ruin its stability. But for the sake of benchmark, I guess we can push higher scores

Yes, overclocking works but just a little bit. Stability goes out the window as soon as you start overclocking the SD652. Since it's a 28nm fab chip, it can't go much faster without catastrophic failure.
I read that according to Qualcomm it can do a maximum of 2.2 ghz at 16nm fab process. That's just 400 mhz faster than the current max speed.

How did you get such a high memory speed? Is the phone stable at that performance level?
After many and many test ... this is my result:
Havoc 2.8 (pie)+ some tweak to thermal engine = 119k-120k on antutu score
Havoc 2.8 (pie) + illuminate kernel + some tweak with smartpack kernel manager + some tweak to thermal engine = 120k-121k on antutu score
If u want more info: ask here and i share screenshot of antutu score and my configurartion and mod to obtain this score.
Peace!
From where I can download illuminate kernel.please provide the link .
