Nope cant get to it, and my Sprint connection wont work. Out of Service Area Mobile Network is unavailable. If you know a way to get to it that would be great.:good:

I also have a v40 with the bootloader unlocked (can enable USB debugging in Developer tools), but whenever I try to boot to fastboot mode (either from recovery or adb) it just boots back to normal Android OS.
Were you ever able to figure this out?

The process to unlock your bootloader is a bit more "involved" than just simply flipping a switch..

I've been on Android for 10 years, originally with the Galaxy S1 and many devices across multiple manufacturers.. The ability to "Enable OEM Unlock" at all has been a key indicator of whether the bootloder was unlocked. This was true for all of my devices, up to my LG v30 that I continue use for my daily driver.
The v40 was the first device that allowed me to enable OEM Unlock without the bootloader being unlocked, which is why I was confused.
Thanks for the reply.

I'm having the AT&T version (LM-V405UA), can I unlock its bootloader? I can't seem to be able to boot into fastboot mode though.. Weird.

Almost every Android I've had allowed me to enable OEM unlock....since for the most part it needs to be ticked on so that you can unlock it...

Right. That was my point as well.
https://en.droidwiki.org/wiki/OEM-Unlock
Enabling OEM Unlock itself does not unlock the bootloader, but you can not unlock the bootloader unless it is unlocked.
This is the first device I've used that allowed me to enable OEM Unlock, but DID NOT allow me to unlock the bootloder. For other devices that had a locked bootloader, the first step of enabling OEM Unlock wasn't even an option, it was either missing altogether, or it was greyed out and unchangeable. That was my confusion.

With the OG LG Stylo the boost variant was the only one that couldn't be unlocked but OEM unlock was tickable we managed to root it but couldn't use TWRP that was available for the other 2 carrier variants....

Safe Way To Unlock Bootloader?

Is there already a safe way to unlock the bootloader. I may get my N6 today or tomorrow and would like to do it before I put too much on it.

Right. There is the new setting in Android 5.0, where you have to enable the OEM unlock setting in developer options. Then fastboot oem unlock is your friend.

don't forget to go into Developer options and enable OEM unlock in there first.

Can I relock my bootloader?

Hey, so my Moto G got an unlocked bootloader, but I'm selling it to get the Moto G 2015 (or any phone good as it). Is there a way to relock the bootloader, so I can handle it to the new owner good as stock?
In terminal type 'fastboot oem lock'. It's relocked then, not locked, that means the warranty is still gone but the functionality is the same as from a locked bootloader.

Will try it later, thanks! If the new owner wants to unlock it, he just should do the normal unlocking procedure?

Remote unlock is not allowed Asus Zenfone go z00vd

Hi
I was trying to unlock my Asus Zenfone go z00vd/zc500tg
I have successfully installed the driver for the device and
fastboot devices
Command working fine it shows the device number I think.
But when I try following command
fastboot oem unlock
It shows the error
Remote: unlock is not allowed
I have enabled the developer mode , but there is no oem unlock option,
I want to root my device.
Please suggest me something for unlocking..
Contact the oem to see if it can even be un locked first. Not all Android devices have unlockable boooaders.

Help needed i have the same problem
You do not have to contact ASUS. To unlock the bootloader, you must downgrade your firmware to version 36 where the unlocking option is available. Just follow this tutorial. You are probably using v62 now.

Is the boost mobile G6 Play bootloader unlockable?

Yes the bootloader for the XT1922-7 is unlockable and you can root it too. See my thread in this forum for more info.
I can also saying without a doubt that the Moto G6 play 4 Boost Mobile has unlockable bootloader.
Does that mean you can use it on a different carrier as well then? I know bootloader unlocked is different than carrier unlocked.

Bootloader unlocked is only for modding purpose, TWRP, Root, Backup, customizations and so on..

Yes of course. I know Verizon varients of Moto phones have the bootloader locked which I would assume is to make sure it's used with there service only.
Its just interesting you can unlock the boost models but not Verizon.
Is the phone locked to the carrier via IMEI then?

It doesn't matter, it's not related to bootloader. New devices always comes with locked bootloader, for safety purpose and warranty. Many brands allow to unlock easily (OnePlus, Motorola...) some other need permission (Xiaomi, Huawei).. In many case unlocked boot and root could result in a warranty loose.
I understand this. Perhaps I'm not asking the proper questions. Verizon's Motorola devices do not allow the bootloader to be unlocked, at all. They allow the device to be carrier unlocked after a year though.
Can you use the boost Mobile g6 with different carriers??

How did you try to unlock it?
I booted up the phone, went to developer options, enabled unlocking, rebooted to bootloader mode, ran the "fastboot oem get_unlock_data" command and put that into the motorola site for unlocking bootloaders, and got the unlock key. Then I followed the directions and used the command "fastboot oem unlock myUniqueKeyFromMotorola".
Can the Boost g6 play be network unlocked? I was thinking of picking up the boost variant at Walmart and using on MetroPCS. I've had success doing this in the past with the Verizon prepaid Moto G & E series but never tried with the boost prepaid.

What we're saying is that the two are unrelated. (But yes, you can carrier unlock boost phones. They don't make it easy though.)

Boost Mobile is 12 months with the device. And Sprint is 50 days. Boost runs off of sprint. You have to call customer service to request a sim unlock. You can buy an unlocked one from like bestbuy or from motorola's website. Sim unlock is different from bootloader unlock. Unlocking the bootloader does not unlock the sim card. Sorry I didn't realize I was quoting what you said sorry triggerlord

oem unlocking non persistent on g6

Hello I have a new Moto G6. I have enabled developer options and I've enabled OEM unlocking. But it doesn't seem to stay enabled between reboots? I just bought this yesterday. I'm trying to unlock the bootloader, but I can't unless OEM unlocking stays enabled. Am I missing something? I know there's currently no root for the G6, but still I think I should be able to unlock it, or am I mistaken?

That just allows the bootloader to be unlocked. You still would need to actually unlock it following the unlocking guide thread in the guides section

Yes I know this is not root, this is just unlocking the bootloader, yes I do have a key from motorola. But I can't do anything if OEM unlocking will not persist between reboots. I'm just trying to unlock the bootloader. And yes it is unlocked for sims.

I said nothing of root. Unless I am missing something from your original post, "Allow OEM unlocking" just allows the bootloader to be unlockable. After you tick it, reboot directly into fastboot mode (not back into android, that'll untick it again).
[GUIDE] Unlock Bootloader - This states after enabling OEM Unlock in settings (from within Android) to reboot into the bootloader (This guide says power off and then power back on while holding volume down, if you have debugging on you can just "adb reboot bootloader"). Rebooting back into Android with the bootloader still locked I believe does untick the OEM Unlock option.
ok thanks, I'll try again.
I have the XT 1925-6 US unlocked version. One of the first things I do with a new phone is to enable Developer Options and toggle OEM Unlock even though I may not Unlock the Bootloader right away.
The OEM Unlock toggle has stayed persistently on through numerous reboots with the Bootloader still locked.
Hmm.. Well I could have sworn I had seen what was described before, however it has been a while. I unlocked mine all in one go so I can't say. If it's supposed to stay on then I'd really be curious why it isn't for jloh
