Can I install an 8.0 rom when it's already updated to 9.0 and still use Xposed correc - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi
I finally found someone who has an unlocked p20 pro and is willing to sell it to me (clt29).
But it's running stock 9.0. but I want to use Xposed very badly, that's why I chose this phone. Because it's the last flagship with an 8.x rom that has all the features i need.
But I read somewhere that once it's updated up l to 9.0 You can't roll it back to 8.0 because the security level or something stays on 9.0 or so and that messes with the rom so you can't root it anymore and can't use xposed. Is that true or can I safely buy this device and install an 8.0 rom and root it and use xposed?
Thanks for the help! Very much appreciated!

No you need to be on a matching base.
Oreo - Oreo pie - pie.
You can try but it'll most likely fail or cause some horrible anomalies you just don't want.

You're on Oreo asking if you can install a pie ROM!!
Answer is no.
If you're on Oreo then stick with Oreo
If you're on pie then stick with pie.
The base is the version you're on, stick to the base youre on rather than trying to mix it up.

What?, not yet,, just stay 8.0 if you want oos,,
Um what? OOS 8.1/5.1 will only be released when OnePlus does it. There are no OOS 5.1 "based" ROMs as of yet. No one can make a OOS 5.1 OTA other than OnePlus.
FreedomOS/theOne3TOS, they're all just modified OOS OTAs with Add-ons. Nothing else. Their Android system isn't modified, just with Add-ons, like Root/Equalizers/Magisk Modules and so on. These aren't ROMs per sé, just fitted with an Aroma Installer to select add-ons and for easier installation.
All in all, don't keep hope on OnePlus releasing Android 8.1 for the 3/3T. They promised N for the 2, and it never happened. .

The OnePlus 2 was, is and will be the unwanted child.
But that's an other discussion.

It was a failure yes, but there are still users who bought it and most of them do not know about Custom ROMS. They should keep the customers happy, not looking at the device status.
I honestly don't have any hope that the 3/3T will see the light of 8.1/5.1

A tutorial is available for 7.1.1 but I'm not sure if flashing an older version would brick this phone or not.

Project Treble for XZ1 Compact

I was just surfing random android stuffs on internet and eventually found the "Project Treble"!!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble
After then I installed the app known as "Project Treble" in app store, this app tells you if your device is capable for this project or not. And good thing for us that XZ1 Compact is supported.
I have unlocked my bootloader, so there is no chance for getting any OTA updates.
Well, I was never worried about not getting OTA updates because XZ1 Compact is already a year old and sony will eventually stop rolling the updates after sometime, but unlike sony, Project Treble seems more promising for regular security updates and many more other things that sony will probability never provide.
As for example look at this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...device-development/rom-aosp-extended-t3821934
Here you can see that they are providing kernel 4.9, while we, who are still on kernel 4.4 even after latest pie update.
And this also : https://www.xda-developers.com/google-test-android-q-project-treble-gsi/
Keeping all these apart, I just wanted to ask if any XZ1 Copmact user has tried this "Project Treble" or not??
And if yes then please share your reviews here.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
There's various posts about Project Treble in this device's forum. I'll leave the searching for you.
I didn´t try with the latest Pie firmware yet.
With Android 8.0 as base I was able to run almost every Treble-ROM based von Android 8.1, Android 9.0 bootloops. May be it is working together with the latest Pie rom as well.

Because project treble doesnt affect the stock rom functionality you must do the same as if you were on stock. Install drm fix and Magisk in twrp and permissive kernel patch via Magisk when in Android.
I suggest AOSP from the creator himself or resurrection Rom.
I have got no idea about Volte

Note 9 stuck on Android 8.1.0

I just got the Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F/DS) and it's still on Android 8.1.0, security patch level December 1, 2018.
It won't update OTA, nor via Smart Switch.
The build number is M1AJQ.N960FXXS2ARL4, CSC is N960FOXM2ARK2
Is there a way to update it to at least Android 9.0?
Thanks in advance.

I do not know what you mean by genuine, it's original and unlocked.
How do I update it via ODIN if the firmware for this model hasn't been released yet?
Can I use any firmware to do it?

Man, the firmware for that phone with Pie has been release about a year ago..
Just because you didn´t get the OTA does not mean it hasn´t been released.
Just do a search here
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note9/firmware/#SM-N960F
for your country code to get the latest
Also search the forum for the latest ODIN version, and you must know if your phone has a SnapDragon CPU or an Exynos CPU if you would like to install custom roms and/or TWRP recovery
Go for it..
OP your so lucky to be on oreo I'm jealous
Better to Stay on Oreo That Update it to Pie/10

Waw.. How lucky you are.
i think better you stay in Oreo that updated it to Android 9 (Pie) Or Android 10.
IMHO, true Power of Galaxy Note 9 is on Oreo. The Multitasking menu is far usable in Oreo than Pie. The Pro Video mode is basically available on Oreo. also, you can slide the Shutter button to Zoom-in/out. Thats only on Note 9's Oreo.
Believe me, you'll regret it once you've successfully update to Pie. CMIIW
Can safely say that Android 10 OneUI 2.1 is the best software for the Note9.

When I play Asphalt 9 it gets really hot but I'm not a gamer so that's a rare event for me xd That said that's the only game which really heats up my phone so much, others make it normally warmer.
Otherwise i haven't seen any issues at all the last 4 months since I bought the phone, Exynos version as well. I'm on OneUI 2.1 since 1 month ago. I never had the famous screen tint issue that others were reporting.
Mine was stuck on Oreo too. Always said that my device was up to date every time I would check... I downloaded android 10 from some where and used patched od to install it. Had to do a lot of updating of apps when it booted up but that's how it is.

Downgrading android 10 to pie

Hello forum.
I am on the latest BTU UK version
Of android 10, but I wish to
return to pie. Do I basically just flash
A pie stock ROM? I Want to
Use the light ROM or galaxy project ROM .... So is it straightforward?
Thank you
GARY
Check current bootloader version if it is higher than on old pie firmware than it is a no go otherwise just use Odin

So...SK1 wouldn't work???
Bootloader version is 5th character when you count back from end of build number. It will be S4 or U4..the number is the bootloader you are on.

Did you manage to return back to Pie?
And do you mind me asking why you didnt get on with Android 10 UI2?
I'm on Pie UI1, and I'm concerned about updating and 'breaking' some of the current features that work on my Note9
Thanks

Android 10 takes a bit of getting used to (so does Android 11 DP1 on my Pixel 3XL) -
I downloaded Odin versions of pie SK1 and latest android 10 build, as well as the twrp for the different OS, have gone back and forwards between 10 and different roms on pie, and no problems, as long as you got backup, odin and a stock rom
I tried downgrading to pie Odin reads everything but doesn't flash. It says write failed after a long time. I am using Alienware laptop I'm not sure if there is something I'm supposed to do. Any ideas. Thanks

This is best your note 9 is on a newer bootloader. it is not possible to flash the old bootloader required for android pie
I was able to downgrade my Note 9 from android 10 to Pie pretty easily, but that was with the 1st release of android 10 for the Note 9. I think the newest version of android 10 has a different bootloader. So you would need to unlock the bootloader before you can downgrade to Pie.
