That code no longer works in most of the the latest firmwares, besides last time a free sim unlock was possible via the diag menu was back in 2013, in other words don't waste your time, go online and buy the real unlock code/service.

Well, if its unlocked via imei, Im safe to unlock the bootloader... at least thats as far as I could gather by all the info scattered around.
To help narrow down the possible unlock method used, I can add that whenever the phone is rebooted, and there is a sim from a different Service Provider than the "original" one, it asks for a network unlock code. By tapping "skip" the phone then boots up and works just fine with any other Service Provider's sim.
This leads me to believe the phone was unlocked by other means than IMEI. And hence, all hopes of unlocking the bootloader are obliterated.

[Q] Help! After using Cyanogenmod Installer it's asking for SIM Network unlock code

In an attempt to use my locked AT&T HTC One phone on my T-mobile service I used the Cyanogenmod Installer to root my HTC one and hope to use it on the T-mobile network; I also unlocked the bootloader via HTC website. The newest Cyanogenmod is installed (11-20140417-NIGHTLY-m7) and wifi is working, etc. Unfortunately, no phone calls since it keeps asking for SIM Network unlock code (I bought an unlock code...not working). Any suggestions? What should I do? I did some research and I read something about using an RUU...is this a good solution? Thank you all!
Status of phone on bootloader screen is:
S-ON "TAMPERED"

No, bootloader unlock and sim unlock are different things. You'll need to be on the stock rom to input your sim unlock code.

And that's what worked. Thanks!
Hello,
I (still) have the same problem here. I have a DHD that was locked and branded. I followed HTCDev's procedure to unlock the bootloader and installed a Cyanogenmod ROM (unofficial 10.1) two weeks ago that works great. I've been trying to get my phone unlocked for days with no luck ever since.
I've tried using the HTC unlock tool v. 0.9.5/4 and rooting the phone too. Nothing. Drivers are working fine; program executes as expected, but I still have a locked phone after it finishes. I got an unlock code that I enter after booting and I get a "successful network unlock" message, but the radio seems to remain off. I cannot place calls. Attempting to choose a network operator manually from the settings menu fails; I get a "mobile network unavailable" message when doing so (service providers list does not even appear). I've read threads saying that the only way to get around this is by reverting the phone to its original ROM and HBoot, but I've read elsewhere that workarounds on branded phones shipped with Gingerbread or Froyo (like mine used to run) fail and/or screw up the phone, so I have not tried that. Any ideas or pointers?
Thanks!

help! my M8 didn't ask me about the unlock code

I try to unlock my Sprint M8,I tried T-mobile and AT&T sim card.
But my phone didn't likes youtube video, My phone didn't ask me about the unlock code. It just simply tell me the sim card is Invalid.
I have tried to use the unlock helper to unlock it, but it just unlock the internation lock.
I still want to unlock the domestic carrier lock.
Is it the ROM problem?
My phone use the Android 4.4.3,and it is S-OFF.
Please help me!
If you're trying to unlock your phone to use it on another domestic carrier, you're not going to be able to do that. SIM unlocking will work for international use.

Would I be able to update after doing network unlock?

Hello,
I'm with Rogers right now and switching over to videotron. Phone is locked with Rogers. Would I be able to do the Marshmallow update once I switch over to Videotron?
or I'll be stuck with whatever I have on the phone right now?
TIA

there are following ways to unlock these phones
1. Root phone and unlock with unlocking boxes ( no $$, if you have box)
2. buy the codes from websites online and unlock it. [works 99% of time]
3 ask rogers to unlock it [safest way, but you should not OWE any money to rogers, it costs more money than step 2]
if you go by step 2, then depending on the modem and security version your phone will not accept the 'unlock code' , then you will get stuck with your unlock code and $$$, so to make that code work you have to ROOT phone, but that might break your warranty ( I am not sure about warranty search forums)
so bottom line if you root you dont get OTA update, but you can flash 6.0.1 by ODIN.

i used idoneApps gt3.1.5
in this app theres a option to unlock sim and when u click it on the ls991 it brings up a menu to enter a unlock code
now i know this app needs root to some extent but this may work on unrooted also.
that said i may be wrong but if im not mistaken the gsm unlock comes from sprint and its called a uicc unlock which modifys the carrier folder and a few other things to unlock it... not unlock code but again i myself have seen this option in the said app above and it may work ive never put in a code. i used the available free methods.
i see you say svc code or service code rite which is also ure msl which is only obtainable by sprint.
what firmware are you on??? u may be able to get a refund on that unlock code and do it yourself for free
.

The app requires root. If you are on ZVB or beyond won't work.
