new user xz3 - Sony Xperia XZ3 Questions & Answers

hello so i solde my pocophone to get xz3
pocophone+40€ against xz3 state 95% like new
i plug it in charge whith my topk qualcomm3.0+cable support 3A
but the charge is very sloooow
say just chargement not fast charging in lockscreen
thats normal!!

XZ3 does not support Q.C 3.0
XZ3 only supports USB PD charging which is faster. You will need a USB PD block and cable for the XZ3 to accept faster charge time.

Ok sir thanks how much time to get full charge
15% to 100% with usb PD ?
And anyway still good deal to change pocophone+40€ to get an xz3 used in very good condition just Small scratches not bother ?

Only USB PD.
"Google has chosen to only support the Power Delivery (PD) charging solution for Android 9.0 Pie. Since Xperia XZ3 launched with Android 9.0, Sony has created a compatible PD charger that will be available from early 2019"
I have a Sony uch12 charger that only chargers at 1500mah, which is q.c 3.0 certified. Charges the same as my uch20 block.

Woopsi, Thank you
Seems on stock the XZ2 was the last one
https://support.sonymobile.com/us/x...charging/02310188014550f700148fcce243e002e57/
I wonder if it is just a software problem and it works on SODP based custom ROMs.
But I can't test it.
The SMD845 supports it.
Even Quick Charge 4+.
Someone should test it on SODP.

Yeah the SMD845 definitively supports it, but i think its been nerfed by software (android pie). I havent unlocked my bootloader yet as my phone is still in warranty period. But if Gcam is available, i'll most likely be tempted to root my phone.

I have two devices
one is xz3, another one is pacophone f1
The f1 already root and easy root sucesss
but xz3.....hmm... unlock bootloader...write twrp and vbmeta...
I have given up

Yeah, the lucky pocophone f1 uses older qualcom stuff and we the security things introduced with 9.0.
But my instructions are quite straight forward.
What do you miss?
(Vbmeta only needed if unlocked on Oreo and want to use camerafix.zip, unlock it on 9.0 and ignore vbmeta or use one of my distributed custom ROMs and ignore it)

In my country
The Sony product warranty for one year
When I unlock first, it's meaning I will lost my warranty
I only use xz3 for a few months
So I haven’t tried it yet.
But after one year, I will try it
I started to miss Sony Z3
Because very very simple way...to root

Sony quick charge for indian version z3c?

Does quick charge works with indian version of z3c ?
I really don't think it works for any version. Even Sony's own website never advertises QC 2.0 capability
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-z3-compact/#tabs
see this thread where someone compared the charging speed of various chargers and they all came out pretty much the same.

Mi5 and QC with original charger+cable - What values expected in apps like Ampere?

Hello everyone,
Ever since I got this Mi5 (125GB 4GB version) I've been trying everything I can so see it its behavior matches what is advertised. I should start off by saying so far so good.
Coming from a Moto X xt1092 I was used to some sort of indication that I was plugged to a QC enabled charger, not just a regular one. On this Mi5, however, and keep in mind that I'm under Lineage OS, I have no indication. I can count the minutes it takes to fill up a dead battery or maybe just 50% percent of it, but I'd like a sure and bullet proof indication. Also keep in mind that I'm using the original charger and cable - said charger that has the QC symbol on it.
Reading other threads, I noticed some posters were advised apps like Ampere - which I installed. Now, what kind of values should I expect from the app when charging? As of now, it hits a maximum of 1610 mA. What should I be looking at and what are the cutoffs above which I can be sure it's quick charging, as opposed to just regular charging?
Thank you in advance.
Added info: just set it to charge at 4%. 38 min later it was at 29%. It seems to me that 25% in 38 min is below QC 3 or even 2 standard (as it is often said that despite the mi5 being QC3 compatible, the original charger is QC2).
So, any chance one of you mi 5 owners can grab that app and give me some reference numbers? Just so I know for sure that I need to try and get a refund for the charger the phone shipped with.
4.1260 V
2860 mA

Yeah that's way higher higher than what I'm getting. Also, under technology I have "Li-ion", and a much lower Voltage.
Weird.
Something is definitely up.

the brick you get in the box is qc2. The device supports qc3 though and if the device is hot it will go upto 1610ma only buy a qc 3 brick roughly your charge should be done in 1hr 15-1hr 30 minutes
I knew the charger was qc2, I just thought it would go higher than 1610, which is exactly the top mA registered. Thanks for that info - I guess there's nothing wrong with it.
I have a qc3 charger on the way too.
The shipped charger has max current of 2.5A and indeed, during the first 10% ampere shows value near that (23XX mA on my phone). It will then gradually decrease down to 0.01A when the capacity is above 95%. Using real QC 3.0 charger (I have both Tronsmart and Aukey), the first 10% it can reach 28XX mA. The ending is similar, though.
I use the stock charger and cable that came in the box. I bought it here in macedonia. But i dont have an idea for wich market it is destined. I can confirm that it charges the phone to 85-90% in less than an hour, then it gets slow as stated above
Yeah I don't get those times, not even nearly. As you can see from the screen shot it took about two hours, most of which with screen off and no activity.
Do you have the same oem charger that i pictured above?
try to use different cable or different charger like aukey or tronsmart..
FYI original charger which support QC 3.0 Just MDY 08-EH

No only mainland china mi5 ships with QC 3 other regions where mi5 is sold only gets qc2 charger Google it if you want
Well mine was bought in Macedonia (south east europe) and i got a qc 3.0. indeed it is not with a local standard socket so i use a smalla dapter for the plug, but the point is that it depends to wich parts of the world xiaomi "officially" export, and to wich parts of the worlds (most of them) local companies undertake an adventure to import a batch of several hundred or thousands units from xiaomi, thus meaning destined for local chinese market

Yes, the exact same. But as that's not an European plug, I wonder if that's why I get different performance - it came with an adaptor.
I'm awaiting a new cable and charger in the mail soon that should clear it up.

Here's hoping it's not lineage os related.

It's stock charger bro.
Using the stock charger, a qc2.0 one (given with the international version of MI5), I get about 2200ma - 2300ma. I haven't tried a quick charger 3.0. However, check your kernel as well. The stock one of Lineage OS have an issue with quick charging, working once only after boot. I use DragonXia kernel and the qc works all the time.
To check if it is kernel issue, shutdown your phone and them connect the charger. I will start charging but using the recovery/boot kernel based on marshmallow, which (at least for me) hasn't got the issue of qc. Observe then the speed of charge and report.

Tested a mi5, same variant as mine, just today, with same lineage OS version. Also original charger and cable. Values are the same as yours, well above mine.
However, my original cable is defective, and has been refunded as the phone wasn't being recognized on the pc (which was a problem when flashing roms). A new one is in the mail, and in a day or two I suspect it'll solve the issue. I'll let you know.
Keep in mind apps are a bad way to check for QC capability.
My xiaomi stock charger puts out 1,8A @ 6V with 70% full battery(the higest current is being used between 20-50%, i'll try that later on)
Ampere only shows battery voltage(3,7-4,2V) instead of charging voltage and the ampere display is way off actual current

A few questions from a future buyer

Hello,
Thinking about getting this phone (own Mate 8 which is fantastic but need a phone a bit smaller also my bank's app don't support Huawei phones)
- I live in Europe (UK, PL, Germany), which version should I get, anything I need to know before buying. Is A3010 what I need or A3003
- Is call recording working? this is a must for me.
- whats the difference between 64 and 128 apart from the storage?
- is dual sim active?
- is nougat available
- battery life - in Mate 8 it's just fantastic, I get easily 7h sot, is it similar here?
- can I use car charger I use for Mate 8?
- any extras I need to buy that are different to my previous phones? OTG cable, car charger etc?
- wld u recommend any shop in Europe?
Thank you guys!
A3003 is for Europe. Call recording does work. Only difference on 64 and 128 is just capacity ram is still 6gb on both same color for both as well. Dual sim works of course or they wouldn't put it in the phone (duh). Nougat is available on oos and custom ROMs I think oos is at 7.1.1 and most custom ROMs are at 7.1.2 now I prefer a custom ROM. Battery life is good especially with dash charge to top up again real quick. Can't use car charger for mate 8 unless you don't mind not having dash charge otherwise you need the official dash car charger from oneplus. Don't use otg so not sure about that but I'm pretty sure one end of otg plugs into the phones charging port so unless the mate 8 is USB type c then you still have to get one that is. And I suggest getting everything from oneplus website directly meaning phone and accessories. Wouldn't trust getting the phone from anywhere else at all.

Quickcharge 3.0?

Does this support QC3? I have two chargers I bought for my HTC, wondering if they'll likely to work currently.
No that's a qualcomm product. This doesn't use a qualcomm CPU. It has a faster form of charging called Huawei Supercharge.

U have to use Huawei original super car charger for this to work. Quickcharge 3.0 can be use but only give you normal slow charge.

Yeh just seems a good idea to have one that also supports Quick Charge as other family members have Samsung devices with Qualcomm processors.
Anker Powerport Speed 5 is working perfectly in Super Charge on the 2 USB Quick Charge 3 and Super Charge (slower) on the 3 other USB slots
Does it detect as fast charge or slow charge on the Anker powerport?
i'm using a Mi powerbank pro, it supports QC3.0 and also huawei fast charge, not as fast as super charge, but it'll get the job done.

About the charging with UCH12

Hello. I just bought this XZ1 Compact from a sale. The phone was bundled with UCH20 charger which was a bit disappointing but luckily I had the fast charger, UCH12, from previous Sony phones. I have read that this phone supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 so it SHOULD charge quite rapidly. However, when I plugged the phone in the charger, it was charging really slowly. I mean 4.5 hours from 11% to 95%. Should the phone say "charging rapidly" or something at the lock screen?
Anyway, then I decided to test the UCH20 that was bundled with the phone and interestingly it charges a bit faster than the UCH12. This time it took a bit less than 3 hours to charge completely. This UCH12 charger charges rapidly my previous phones so I guess it shouldn't be broken?
What kind of charging speeds have you gotten with the UCH12 charger?
Did you have Battery Care enabled?

Yes I have. Does it affect the charging speed when below 90% battery?
It shouldn't, but since you only mentioned the total charging time to full 95% and "completely", I figured it wouldn't hurt to make sure.

Ok. Next time I will toggle it off and see if itmakes any difference. Sadly this battery lasts forever so I have to wait a couple of days to test it
Just bought an XZ1 compact myself, and I'm interested in the answer to this question, too. According to the Sony site, the XZ1 compact is compatible for QC with the UCH12W, but not the UCH12: https://support.sonymobile.com/glob...-charging/02310188014550f700148fcce243e002e57
However, these posts from Sony support suggest that there are no differences between the two, other than the cables that come with them: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...tween-a-UHC20-and-UHC12-chargers/td-p/1297608 https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Wired-accessories/Chargers-UCH12-vs-UCH12W/td-p/1194598
The UCH12W appears to be an international version without US-style bladed contacts, and I can't find it on the US version of the Sony store. Also, when you go to the US Sony store and search for compatible chargers based on phone model, the XZ1 compact shows *no* models, just a car charger. So maybe it's possible that the US model of the quick charger really is incompatible with the XZ1c, even though the phone does have QC capability?
I'd love to hear about a confirmed working (third party is fine) QC charger that's compatible.

This UCH12 however is acting weird and makes my touchscreen go crazy. I will not be using it anymore.
