found great tablet holder for Tab S5e for vehicles - Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Accessories

I also have an F150. Can you post some pictures of this in your truck?

yeah I will get you some later this evening, I`m at work right now, I put this in 2012 F150 Platinum, my platinum didn't have the factory touch screen, instead mine has the 6 disc changer in the dash from the factory. I had newer Kenwood with the garmin navigation and android auto, but I just didn`t like how waze looked on the 7" screen and etc. so I use the tablet for waze and SiruisXM app and torque app for information for boost pressure and etc. really like it, I just hotspot my phone too it and I`m off and running, I post pics later.:good:

here is the pics, I need to paint the silver screws .

Wow- that's BIG! Looks nice, but I think it covers too many controls for my taste.

yeah I don`t use any of the controls on the radio, I can switch media source and volume from my steering wheel and that's all I need. yeah it's nice to have waze and my other apps on the big 10.5"
screen.:good::good:

[Q] Bluetooth keyboard about the size of nook, anyone?

Now that BT finally works, I'm looking for a very thin but large keyboard or case that I can use w. my nook without adding too much bulk to it....
If you google for "samsung-galaxy-tab-bluetooth-keyboard-case-review" you'll see what I mean. I'm actually considering getting that and ripping the keyboard part out of the case, because nook definitely would not fit inside that case.
Seems to be a bit of a waste though to pay $40 for the whole deal, if I could only find who makes that keyboard part or something similar
diNovo Edge from Logitech maybe?
But I didn't even know BT had been enabled finally, what the what? Going to see about that now...
nook color bluetooth keyboard portfolio
I've been looking this morning...basically something that I could roll together with the NC and a bluetooth keyboard for conferences. A couple ideas come to the forefront:
http://shop.brando.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-case-with-bluetooth-keyboard_p05269c0299d057.html
And then some keyboards originally for the iPad, but would work nonetheless:
http://www.ipadaccessories.com/othe...rds/best-bluetooth-keyboards-for-ipad-roundup
The iGo looks decent, and I can get my hands on an Apple keyboard for cheap...but then I'm looking at having to prop up the NC and carrying along the keyboard as well. Might look into ETSY and having someone sew one together.
-Ian
Yeah, A sample came out last night, and Nightly 17 is out now. Some people are reporting problems with nightly 17. (they skipped 16? because they skipped a day?)
I have the BT version installed now (not nightly 17) and it works great (the OS, I don't have any BT hardward yet.)
On the keyboard question, that keyboard is too big and way too expensive.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823115003
That's still bigger than the NC, but closer, and much cheaper.
I think I'm going to look into one of the bluetooth keyboard / pad holders though instead of making a holder.
Please notice that the Nook is about an inch longer than the galaxy tab. I learned that the hard way since I bought my Nook without a case and I live - well - let's just say on the other side of the planet. So far I haven't been able to find anything that fit the Nook.

How do you have bluetooth enabled but not flashed to CM7 Nightlie 17? Did you just install the dependencies? If so, could you post how?

They posted the pre-17 BT before they posted a build 17. It may in fact be the same file, but I haven't updated to 17 yet. I don't even have a bluetooth device yet, but I think I'm going to walmart to get a wiimote for NES action!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960537
That is what I'm using. it's the bluetooth build 3/11/2011
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=encore
This is the CM7-Encore-17 which includes bluetooth. I'm unsure of the difference but they are indeed different file sizes.
About that galaxy pad keyboard:
That looks promising!! These guys are not very heavy. One could, if one were so inclined and feeling a bit hackery, cut off the leather holder for that galaxy pad and use some 3m dual lock or hook and loop velcro to connect the NC to that keyboard holder.
I think I'm just going to get a keyboard and design a stand to hold up the NC on the desk.

Theoretically speaking, would flashing over to the CM7 Nightly Kernel work for other Mods?

Apparently Samsung and Verizon/Sprint decided to lock out bluetooth on their Galaxy Tabs. Go figure.
Not our problem though.
nice find on the keyboard! looks to be just .5" wider than the NC, and a bit shorter front to back. I can picture this in a custom case that flips up and locks into a laptop-esque position
I'm thinking of either buying that Galaxy Tab one and altering it (shouldn't be too hard) or just making my own custom case with keyboard built in. It wouldn't be too hard either way, there are videos around on making a case for the nookcolor, adding a keyboard shouldn't be hard and could probably just be done with some Velcro
I definitely just purchased the Gizmo Dorks BT keyboard and case (for galaxy).. and I'm a huge xda newb so I can't post links, but I bought it from amazon for about 60 bones USD- very cheap for a keyboard and stand-up case.
I don't really care about keyboard size- maybe I'll get some mini-finger clipons for my fingers if it's too small but I think the case is a little bigger (8" long) than some of the other galaxy combo cases out there- and a guy said he fit his archos tab in it, but it should be here next week and I'll keep ya'll updated.
I've been using an apple keyboard for a few days now. It's fantastic for a few reasons.
It's a real keyboard. I type 25wpm on the soft keyboard, i doubt i could improve much on that with those little case keyboards, with mushy buttons. I do 55wpm on the apple keyboard which is pretty close to my model m desktop keyboard but more portable.
It's amazingly convenient to actually use. I use it "backwards". Throw the nook flat near me, between my arms, and reach past it to the keyboard behind it. It's even easier to use than my laptop for what it does, sometimes i even find myself preferring it over my desktop for certain tasks. The cramped netbook configuration the case keyboards lock you into makes me shudder now. I could still do the netbook configuration if i wanted too though. It's a more flexible setup, which is the point of the tablet over the laptop/netbook to begin with...
The keyboard throws in my backpack just fine, is super light, small enough not to notice. It would be the same if i used a messenger bag or whatever to carry the nook, and there is no extra bulk if i know i won't need the keyboard, i can just grab the nook by itself. Flexibility again.
It is $70 dollars which is maybe a little more than other options, but if I'm gonna get a keyboard, i want to make sure it's an upgrade over the touchscreen. $10-$20 is worth more typing speed, less fatigue and more flexibility to me.

So how is the keyboard, chisleu???
I just ordered these keyboards from amazon, they both connect and work wonderfully:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HJEVY6
I sent it back though because the keys were too close together.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MN1F6Y
I think I am going to keep this one!
It's keys are raised rubber and smaller, but they are spaced out so you can feel the individual keys.
The case is too small for the nookColor (since it's for the galaxy tab), but the keyboard is actually velcro-ed in, so I just removed it and I am using it in my nookColor case. (http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Minimal-Trifold-Cover-in-Night/e/9781616864927/?cds2Pid=36174)

car mount

Anyone using a car mount with this yet? I've seem some generic looking ones on ebay. Hoping for one that will work in a cup holder rather than suction cupping to the window. I also dislike the idea of using an adjustable goose neck (like the floor mount uses) because of past experience with an eeepc on one of those. It didn't hold the eeepc still.
Anyone using one?
if you look about 2 pages back youll see a post where a guy made a car mount.

did a search and didn't find anything. I saw a video on youtube but I couldn't make out how it mounted. I'll look for that thread.
couldn't find the thread... link?
Ordered this:

Hopefully it will work. The guy selling them said it is very sturdy and shouldn't be a problem and comparing my eeepc to the nook, the nook is much much lighter. maybe it will handle the gooseneck.
I'm curious, are you using it as a GPS? Or perhaps as MP3 player? Both? please let us know how that mount works. I'd love to turn my nook into a car navigation and mp3 player.

yes I am. I have to rig up some car charger power for it now.
I worried over how I was going to mount mine for quite a while, then I realized I could use a storage compartment already built into my '05 Altima. It's the perfect location above the radio, right where I'd want my navi to be anyways. The compartment door opens up all the way and allows the Nook to sit right in between it and the bottom of the compartment. I use a BN silicone case so I don't scratch it, but it's the perfect fit and there's no way it can fall out. Just thought I'd show off with a pic, it looks really sweet at night especially.

[VIDEO] Exogear Exomount Tablet Car Mount Review

Product Page - http://www.exogear.com/products-exomount-tablet-car-dash-mount.html
I bought one of their mounts for my SGS III that I have coming, little did I know I was going to buy a tablet that would even more awesome to mount in the car..
You can find it on Amazon for $50 .. free shipping with Amazon Prime (ships from Las Vegas) .. I just ordered it because it's sooo cool and I didn't want it to sell out on me! LOL..
Pictures of my setup are below (using a borrowed iPad2 to demonstrate, The Nexus 7 Pics are attached below):
Picture 1 | Picture 2 | Picture 3 | Picture 4 | Picture 5 | Picture 6
Video Demonstration:
Part 1 - Ipad 2
Part 2 - Ipad 2
What ya'll think?
In terms of Quality... it comes assembled and functions exactly how it is in the video. It's very solid and secure. So your getting exactly what you see.
To make adjustments, it takes two hands. I doubt you'll be switching back and forth between landscape and portrait though. There is a knob in the back that makes adjusting easier and you can just tighten it when your done, but I didn't mess with that too much.
For those who don't have aux ports on their radio, I use a GOgroove FlexSMART X2.
Update: Since Youtube flagged the video with the Nexus 7, then deemed it okay, I'll have to re-record it when I have a spare moment. So maybe Saturday or Sunday I'll have a new one up!
If I helped in anyway, please hit the thanks button
It looks sweet but I was spoiled by Samsung's oem gs2 car dock that has charger input and audio output.
That's cool .. I have a bluetooth FM radio adapter as well. So you can stream pandora, google music, and phone calls as well (if you have the right setup)..
I was planning on using it for a gps also.
Is the quality and does it work well even for 50 bucks?
Streaming through bluetooth and then fm? that has to sound horrible.

No, it streams through the 3.5mm jack, then FM. The transmitter I have is pretty high quality, I don't hear any static. I don't have an aux port on my radio.
The bluetooth is so I can answer calls using the fm unit.
I should have the mount on Monday, and I'll borrow a tablet from someone in the coming week and post pictures of my setup.
As far as the mount goes, go to that site and look at the pictures, watch the videos ... go on Amazon and read the reviews ..
I might have to pick this up...my car receiver support bluetooth audio so I don't have to worry about cables (except the car charger) and a 7" tablet is perfect for a car environment. I'm kind of getting sick of messing around with phones in the car.
Okay Ya'll .. Thanks for the discussion and responses from my last video review. I finally got around to updating the review of this one. Check the OP for additional pictures and video. Please remember I'm doing this totally to give back to the XDA Community. Press the thanks button if you enjoyed the review or if I've helped you out.

The Kropsson you linked to is the 800 which only goes up to 5 inches (I guess thats why it's 36 bux). I think you were thinking of the Kropsson 900, which is 50 bux. Looks nice! Thanks for the link!

Here is the Kropsson 850 WITHOUT the charging ports.
http://www.amazon.com/Kropsson-Universal-Tablet-Mount-Holder/dp/B007C94EY0/ref=pd_cp_cps_0
Yeah..these are all the same make (with different names on them), with the exception that the Kropsson comes in different sizes and includes the charging port, which is pretty cool.
My video can serve as a visual for all of the models. It's going to operate the exact same way.
I prefer the 800 since its better suited for 7" tablets in landscape. I want it to sit as low as possible in landscape mode. Seeing how the Exxon rotated upwards for portrait mode was the deciding factor. Not to mention I feel better knowing that its being supported on the bottom when in landscape. But yea, i think its from the same manufacturer, and labeled differently. If you prefer portrait mode then the Exon or 900 is the way to go.
ps. There is a 750 model that is even cheaper, and made for 7" but you lose the charging ports on the back and the red/blue led lights. Need more blinking light! :silly:
My only issue is the disk on the dash. I have one for the arkon mount that only lasted a few weeks. Now the car mount wont stay because I think the HOT Texas sun warped the plastic. I can only stick the mount on the window.
Anyone have experience in these mounting disks?

Hot sun will always melt the glue on those adhesive plates. Not sure what other options are, you can use an epoxy but that is a permanent solution.
Plastidip also sells a can of there stuff, maybe you can fashion a smooth spot where the suction cup will adhere too.

I've had mine mounted for the past 3 weeks in the Hot California Sun. I will tell you that I actually keep a microfiber cloth covering that portion of the unit. I've never tried removing it and you'll see from my video that everything is stable. There's no need to remove the unit (as that would be very annoying) as I've experienced so far.
Also a note on the mounting disc, I think there's a picture of it in the OP. It's an aluminum disc that has a SUPER adhesive that is installed on your dash. Then you place the car mounts suction on top of it, press down, and there is an additional lever that sucks the air out and really locks it down. It's not going anywhere

[VIDEO] Nexus 7 mounted in car via Spiderpodium

I mounted my Nexus 7 on the double DIN opening of my 1999 Civic Si. Us Honda car enthusiasts call this car EM1. Anyway, decided to do a video on it so here's the YouTube link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2TGloe4p80&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I used a radio block off plate from a base model Civic, wrapped that in carbon fiber sticker, drilled two holes on it and mounted the Spiderpodium on it. The Nexus 7 then mounts on the Spiderpodium. I use an AUX cable to connect the tablet to the headunit. The radio is relocated to the cup holder area by using a '98 JDM Civic cup holder.
It's a sweet setup. Navigation works, along with Pandora and all the music streaming apps, and YouTube works as well. Pretty sick ICE if you ask me. Works perfect.
I connect the Nexus via hotspot from my SGS3.
Enjoy the video! Peace

Nexus 7 Car Dock

I'm looking to use my Nexus 7 in my car for GPS, music, etc. I'd use bluetooth for audio and I ran a long USB cable from my center console's USB port. I just need a reasonably priced dock that mounts in the CD slot that I can stick my N7 in. If it helps I have a 2013 Honda Civic Si.
Anyone?
I've seen several posts where people have permanently mounted theirs in their cars..usually with a lot of customized mounts.

Yeah so have I and none of them said how they did it or where they got them from. I really only need something to go in the CD slot. It's usually just a little piece of plastic that fits in just far enough. Just looking for a recommendation of what people have used or know is good.
Anyone??
Brodit, definitely!
VW Polo 5 (6R), 2012, Brodit Proclip and Nexus 7 Passive Mount (all together ~40€).
Can share the parts later with you.
Check the picture.

Is this any good?

I want to do the exact same thing.
I have a car charger with two usb outs, a nexus 7, and an HD2 (yes, i still have it, use it, and its awesome!)
I connect both of them to the charger with usb, connect HD2 to my car audio system and my nexus 7 (BT).
My musics (and my calls!!) are on my hd2, so they play on car audio system.
my navigation apps are on my tablet.
and also i use tablet talk to connect my phone and tablet to each other, and have my sms and calls on nexus.
i used a few mounts but... im really looking forward to use ExoMount Tablet S...
(the only problem is that i cant watch videos or listen to musics on my tablet... trying to fix that with using AUX cable from tab to car audio system)
I kind of have a temp solution. I can actually lean the thing against the screen that has the backup camera, radio station, etc in the dashboard and there's a little lip that holds it in just the right position so it can't slide or tip over.
The problem with the whole "stick it in the CD slot" idea is that the mount then obscures your stereo controls.

What do you recommend then?
I got this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0072LATRY/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and it works nicely.
In my Mustang, it attaches to the dash and hangs down between the AC vents. Different cars of course have different layouts, but it is very configurable.

For years I would buy a new mount every time I got a new device. Finally I just decided to switch over to the Ram Mount system. They have thousands of different mounts and holders, and make it easy to swap stuff around and find something that works for my new device. They are more expensive than the cheap stuff you get off Ebay, but they last. I have the ball mounts in my car, van, trucks, etc. and they are great.

I have Honda civic as well. How do you charge the tablet if you're putting it there?

USB cable coming from the USB port in the console.
Just make a custom mount to your likings if you are having this much trouble finding a solution.
Buy the dock and a cheap snap in case for the N7.
Use carbon fiber to mold your custom mount.
Snap N7 into new mount made out of dock and cheap case.
thats a simple run down but just to give you an idea. benefit of this is you make it the way youd like to suit your needs at the location of your choice in your car.
Civic si, goly that car is rubbishy cheap toy. That car have tons of third market addons for any hardwares to portable addons.
The way you replies, sounds as if you are in mid 20s with a civic si. You should know the Asian civic group in downtown Maryland and the nearby China Town for advices and cheap hook up deals!
I seen civic mods each headrest with nexus 7 mounts for gaming and movies.
Try a Mobio magnet http://www.hellomobio.com its strong and allows you to remove the tablet easily.
