Quick Charge and Performance Mod for Onclite (Redmi 7) - Xiaomi Redmi 7 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other

DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for any damage to your phone, or any nuclear war.
This is a Quick Charging and Performance mod for Onclite (Redmi 7) which will work for MIUI and future custom ROMs(Yeah, I am working on that too!!!)
This mod basically allows your phone to pump more current into the battery for longer periods of time even from the stock charger!!! Hell yeah, and the phone charges at much faster speeds. Also, it allows the CPU to go to higher temperatures before thermal throttling, so you can PLAY PUBG FOR LONG TIME WITHOUT LAG!!!
Summing up the Features:
Quicker charging
Much higher performance
MIUI and custom ROMs support
Instructions:
First flash genom kernel
Then flash the zip through custom recovery and you are good to go!!!

Battery health concern
Could you also specify like how much did you raise the max temperature by? And is the charging faster (more watts than normally always) or just more watts when close to 100% (basically when phone normally slows charging down), which I'm worried about what that would do to battery long-term

I made a flashable zip for reversing this mod. If you want to reverse quick charging to previous state, just flash this zip from recovery.

[KERNEL][CM][UB][Linaro] Black Kernel for CyanogenMod 13/12.1

USE THE BETA FROM A RECENT POST IF YOU ARE USING CM13!
This is a kernel for Cyanogen Mod 13 and 12.1, which was originally based on the EvoMix kernel by Alx31, olivieer and SuperHanss. Due to Alx31's lack of time and in order to archive maximum compatibility and to benefit from latest updates, I decided to recreate a new kernel, forked from CM's very latest official one (thanks to qsnc). It has a focus on stability, performance, endurance and overclock-ability (roughly in that order).
It uses the original ramdisk of the installed kernel (thanks to osm0sis), for maximum compatibly in the long run and instant adaptability to most source changes. It should also work with other CM13/12.1 based ROMs, like crDroid and PAC.. Please don't report bugs to qsnc, if you are using this kernel!
Features (compared to CyanogenMod's official kernel):
build using the original Linaro 4.8.5 toolchain
CPU: over/under-clock 1728MHz-192 MHz possible
additional governors: abyssplugv2, alucard, dancedance, darkness, lionheart, nightmare, pegasusq, wheatley
Voltage Control (under-/over voltage)
GPU: over/under-clock 487MHz-27MHz + simple governor
additional file-systems: exFAT, NTFS
intelli-plug hot-plugger and power saver
restrict maximum screen off frequency
Sound Control 3.x (poweramp controls, loudness enhancements)
kernel mode NEON optimizations
optimized AES and SHA1 routines (faster encryption)
compressed by using LZ4 (faster boot)
fsync on/off support (turn of for higher disk performance, but increased risk of data-loss)
KSM support (Kernel Samepage Merging)
multirom compatibility (kexec-hardboot)
fast-charge support (not recommended and only works with dock, not with USB-charger!)
numerous small performance improvements
...
Performance: about 10% faster than original CM12.1-kernel with same settings, and some additional 20% speed by using maximum over-clocked frequencies (use at your own risk, every device is different!)
Configuration: Kernel Adiutor (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor) or PerformanceControl 2.2.6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=600#downloads)
Install: just flash the attached zip with TWRP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...very-twrp-2-8-7-0-pollux-polluxwindy-t3187811) or CWM
Uninstall: re-flash the complete ROM (just re-flashing the original kernel is not enough!)
Changelog:
2016-04-08:
removed MSM GPU powerscale (more stable and governor selectable)
removed intelli-plug (outdated and obsolete)
fsync no longer enabled by default
synced with latest official CM13 source (many fixes)
2015-12-21:
fast-charge support (not recommended and only works with dock, not with USB-charger!)
synced with latest official CM13 source
2015-11-28:
initial release
IF INSTALLATION FAILS: If the kernel installation is not working (i.e. installation takes less than 5 seconds and you don't see the new boot-logo), re-flash latest ROM, reboot into recovery and try to install the kernel again!
Install a custom recovery first! The simple CyanogenMod Recovery, which comes with most ROMs, is pretty useless anyway..

Hi mate yes evomix kernel has the fast charge. Gone back to it for the time being - it's one feature that makes a huge difference to charging time. Look forward to seeing you add the feature when you get the chance. Cheers

Are you really sure that it actually charges faster? I think the maximum it uses are 1500mA, and that is not even enough for the tablet to run with maximum brightness without discharging the battery! I doubt fast-charging makes any difference..

Seems to make a decent difference with mine. Previously the charge took forever - using crdroid ROM - now quite fast. Might time the next charge.

Tablet Z doesn't have the fast charge function, so I suppose it's just your feelings or the tablet not fully discharged. To me no difference at all.

Under normal charge via microusb port, maximum current is 1,5A, even using 2A charger. But when using dock contacts and ipad 2,4A adapter, it easily exceeds 2A, which significantly reduces charging time.

There is no newer Rom since 12.1 ?
So i think answer must be: yes

[Q]What is Fast charging?

some custom roms for our k3 has fast charging option..like blitz CM13 or AICP 11 and some custom kernel features this too...
what is this fast charging?? is it like Quickcharge?
shouldn't it be hardware based feature?
how fast does this feature charges our device?

Our device originally supports upto 1700mA of current. But in some kernels the charging has been modded to give more current than that. The only thing I don't understand is that they tell us to use the stock charger to get faster charging but our wall charger only provides max 1.7A.
But some people have reported getting current upto 1900mA using the stock charger only. You can test the current through Ampere from play store.
Well you can't say it is like the quick charge technology as in the snapdragon devices but it should lessen the charging time
is it harmful?? for battery? I mean...since our battery isn't designed to cope with such high rated charging....!! is it?

I dont think it is harmful and hopefully the developer of that kernel also knows what our device is capable of

More or less, you should know that you are drawing more current than what the manufacturer specified. This may cause unexpected results like overheating, degradation of battery or worse bursting of phone!
Just be safe

Oh goodness, I knew my Flashaholic sense's were tingling.
On a whim, I decided to install this on my U. The progress bar in TWRP isn't indicating an install, so don't panic. The install will eventually complete. It does seem to take a bit longer than usual. This appears to be a Lineage base and not AOSP. Magisk 14.0 does not pass the SafetyNet check for some reason. No big deal for me. I just thought I'd mention it. Aegis looks interesting. It seems to be a Greenify on Steroids app exclusive to Mokee. It is Substratum capable.
Much of it is standard fare with a few annoyances. I couldn't find a way to disable the network speed indicator in the status bar. Freezing the Mokee Center app disables settings altogether. I thought I'd at least disable wifi and data but like a few other apps, the switches are replaced with the colorservice switches. I don't like this and decide to ditch the rom.
It ran well and seemed stable. There were no hiccups during install and setup. Not much else I can say as it was a short lived install.

It's a fairly basic LOS-based ROM. No particular requirements needed as far as I know. Should be an easy flash.
Haven't used MoKee regularly since Lollipop (it was great on my G3) so not much experience with it since.
Maybe the slow/metered downloads kept me away. ?

I ran Mokee on my previous phone (ZUK Z2 Plus) as a daily driver for about a month and liked it, but the restrictions on download speeds for ROM updates and 60-second waiting time from their website really pissed me off and prompted me to switch to another ROM. I know they're trying to get people to donate but c'mon, we don't need our download speeds crippled just to encourage us into making a donation.
A few months back I actually heard from someone on the ZUKFans.eu forum who made a donation towards the project, but didn't get his download speeds derestricted and attempts to contact the team were completely ignored.

Wait a minute, if that why my downloads aren't as fast as they were before, then i'm jumping to a new ROM immediately. That does sound quite ridiculous.
After reading all this... Is MoKee still the better LinageOS lol
I'm over feeded from Linage/CM based ROMs and MoKee is the only ROM i would use again from this Edge (Was running last Night). The best is still AOSP based! AOSPA, AOSP Extended and so so... Clean, no Lags, and Features placed in without screwing up the Settings Order... But anyways, i like to share MoKee since it's almost unknown (Still) and always delivering Nightlies (There aren't that much ROMs here which are providing such a Support). So, love it or hate it

I must say, this ROM with the Hellsgate kernel is pretty damn impressive.
SOT: 6hrs, 34m and 24s
Computed power use: 814 mAh
Time off charger: 16hrs(changed at the last moment before dying)
Kernel Config: Alucard gov. With maple as I/o Scheduler, Intellthermal, CPU Boost enabled with 652 mhz of touch-input on cores #1 and 3.
Battery Profile: Balanced
Not too bad at all.

Oh, well that's great to hear you also have the 3,140mAh capacity and are getting such decent battery life! I was slightly disappointed when I received my Axon 7 because it quite clearly said 3,250mAh on the website listing, but in all the battery apps i've used it states 3,100mAh which presumably means it's the 3,140mAh one. It came from AliExpress in China. I also thought I was getting UFS storage but it turned out to be eMMC, although to be fair it didn't mention this in the listing unlike the battery capacity. How did you find the Lionfish governor?

Yeah wish ZTE did something about that. I forgot to tell you that i flashed Hellsgate kernel with the ROM to get more govenors and tweaking. The kernel that came with it is pretty battery friendly as well. Every 5 to 6 minutes with the included kernel dropped to 1%.

You can try.
I hope it doesn't take a toll on battery in long run.
Ps: it works on custom roms too right?
Is it work for custom ROM?
For example: RR Remix and AOSP

[SHARE][Kernel] [11] Stormbreaker kernel for OP5 (Cheeseburger) [Pixel Experience Plus]

I installed the PixelExp+ Rom on my friends OP5. was good and smooth but the battery life was utter garbage (if u have AOD on, u cannot maintain batt life).
i tried installing the lazy kernel ( post here ). No improvement in performance or in battery life.
So moved back to PixelExp kernel.
Flashed Stormbreaker kernel (from here).
->Booted fine
->WiFi and Audio works fine
->Will update on batt usage/drainage
Note:
-Stormbreaker kernel, from what i understood, is unified for both OP5 and 5T.(Please do check before)
-All credits to where its due. None of these files are mine. I'm only trying to improve batt life for day-to-day usage and updating here for easier finding on what worked.

Adding INDEX link here.
Adding OnePlus 5 & 5T Cross Device Development threads link here.
Update:
Thoughts after almost a day.
->better batt usage and life overall (non-gaming)
->still smooth experience
->previously lost almost 40% charge overnight while doing nothing. Now only 3% was lost with Spotify running.
why I can't use mobile data next day after flashing this kernel
