Someone in China make all G8, G8s, V50 rooted yesterday, without breaking the phone. Sorry for I don't know how it works.
The guy is the moderator of a forum in China, which is about LG phones since years ago. In the past he always help to unlock, root and make ROMs for LG phones, but now this guy count on this to make money and just sell phones he polished, refusing to tell how.
Anyway, I'm going to buy his phone now, G8 is quite a good phone, I really hope a guide to root can be made soon.

I can confirm this as I saw his moment about the rooted V50. Teardown is required to root V50 and he can change the RAM to 12G and the storage to 1TB, quite crazy!
His main purpose is to sell rooted and modified LG devices.

hello, for a couple of days looking for the possibility to get root permissions but unfortunately I can't find solutions. I currently own a LG G8s ThinQ (LM-G810EAW). I find only previous root permissions to this smartphone. Thanks a lot for the collaboration
there is no possibility at the moment the bootloader is not yet released by LG
but we have good results with the G8S. In ADB mode there are some instructions what to do to unlock the bootloder

I don't really care much about the RAM or the storage. But how can you achieve root by messing with the phone internally?

Agreed. I'm not interested in root where I have to ship my phone off somewhere or buy phone from someone.
The mint (unrooted) V35 I have (but not using) is because someone on XDA offered to sell me theirs -- so they could buy rooted V35 from China. A few weeks later, they updated me on their progress -- said the rooted phone they received from China not nearly great condition like the one they sold me.

Some low level bypass or something where you mess with the circuitry. It would negate the IP68 rating, taking it apart like that.

It seems he can unlock BL officially and root V50 and G8 even without tearing down the phone. I guess he got some tools or files from LG company.

don't unlock your bootloader now there is a way to save your phone for sure you get 100% warranty, i'm running custom roms with a locked bootloader I'm glad I waited use this approach instead.

Its noobs who think that if you unlock the bootloader you'll void your warranty... YOU WONT... HTC will still replace the phone if there is a reason to that is the phones fault and not one of your own. Don't let the noobs scare you into thinking other wise.

There are 2 ways of modifying your phone.
1) Root it. You get the benefits of being able to run apps that require root but don't have to unlock the bootloader.
2) Unlock it. Unlocking it lets you run different ROMs. Something other than the stock android. Example, Cyanogen Mod. It's a modified custom build of android with lots of nifty things. But it might void your warranty by Unlocking it.
I'd suggest just going with ROOTing it. It's easier, less fuss, less to worry about and it doesn't void the warranty.

Are you on skype?
I got it from Negri Electronics and it IS unlocked already but NOT rooted.
I need to root it to get this font size program installed 'cause my eyesight sucks. That's really the main reason.
Yeah, I like nifty things too and I hate being tied down by locked stuff and so on so I'd like to open it and do whatever I want with it.
As for the warranty, I understood from Negri that HTC/Google covered the warranty and I THINK, that I could buy insurance through t mobile but checking on that.
Also, for those of you who are interested, Negri also sells t mobile contracts/by month contracts or whatever you call it.

It might not be a huge difference from note 3 but is definitely a big upgrade from my note 2.
I think everyone expect to have extreme changes in the devices every year and that is not possible anymore.
I think now the upgrade should be every 2 years.

Someone told me that if you get the TMO version it won't have a locked bootloader, and can be usedon ATT. I'm not sure if this is true, but considering going that route.

Verizon :/ I really am getting tired of it from them tbh. I buy the phone, why should they lock the bootloader. (Yes, I know there are reasons, but still) they are not leasing the phone to me, You buy the device and use it on their network.I am paying for a service. That's just how I look at it.

I sure understand that thought. But I also understand the carriers not wanting to warranty phones that we hose trying to mess with them.
It's probably too much effort to position themselves to offer an unlock code for the bootloader, which would cost 'loss of warranty'. If they don't have to warranty them, then why should they care?

probably because so many people lie when they call for warranty service, saying they dont know why their phone suddenly "stopped" working..
Now, what could be done, is to sell an unlocked phone/boot loader, NO WARRANTY AT ALL, and see how many folks buy that model...

The vulnerability of towelroot was patched on all kernels deployed after 6th June.
It has very less chances of working.

Would you be happier if someone here just guided you through it step by step? There are some awesome devs here who I'm sure would be happy to try and help and Gove you steps along the way. Also, there are some very well written guides on here that you can follow, asking questions here along the way and get some info if you are stuck
So if you would be happy doing it that way, we can guide you through it here!
Make sure you have a working laptop and a good USB cable, using 2.0 ports and preferably Windows 7, with working/up to date drivers and adb files
Well 2 problems. I've read the tutorials, watched the videos, and am still not confident lol. The main concern is getting s-off. The other issue is I only have a macbook working at the moment. That's why I figured I'd give in and have someone do it for me. Its not worth risking IMO, I'd rather pay someone with the expertise to do it.
I genuinely appreciate the offer however! I just don't have the confidence. Sometimes things just seem beyond skill level, and you have to swallow your pride lol
I have no problem guiding you over the phone or skype! It is a piece of cake ! If you read the tutorial and just scared to brick your phone, i dont think itll happen! Done it to 5 HTCs!

It's prob easier on a mac than a PC, both Android and OSX are based on linux unlike Windows.

Just for sh*ts and giggles I entered a chat with one of their "specialists"..........
Looks like a scam. Remote rooting, pf...
It isn't a scam, they just guide you through it, you scan a QR code, and it downloads known root exploits and such. They hold your hand through it, I used it for the LG G2 incidentally, helped me downgrade the rom, but they need to be clearer about what devices CAN NOT be rooted.

So if you crack the passwd, which can unbrick my device internationnal. I give 20$
It is just untolerable that OnePlus support lies to users saying they don't have the tool.
By the way, no one have been rescue his bricked phone by support at now ... just check one plus forum.

Oh yeah.. The first thing i admit is i'm so stupid to have locked back oem.
I though that after locked to stock, i'm sure to have boot corrupt, but i though to reupload stock firmware.
And this was the big surprise, no tools exists...
Any other brand have it...
So this is just contradictory because with OnePlus you can install modded twrp and unlock your bootloader, that's the phylosiphy.
PS: And by the way, If OnePlus repaired my device remotly, i would be happy, but 4 days i'm now bricked

Honestly, I think we have all done that at least once in our android careers lol. (I did it with my 6T) and ws lucky to have MSM available.
