W280A new cheap on ebay (Usage in Europe?) - LG Watch Sport

Hi there,
Just bought a new lg sport on ebay from China, and was wondering if anyone else had bought from this seller and if cellular works in Europe? (It's sais it's unlocked...) Some people say that band 2100 is supported but lg's website doesn't...
Any opinions on using this watch in 2019? If I understand we should get one last update?
Ebay: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/LG-Watch-Sp...967940?hash=item1cae286804:g:P04AAOSw4ahbG7BB

I have the W280A and it didnt receive any signal while I was in the UK. With that said, I dont think it'll work in China neither.

Ok, are you with AT&T ? I read that if you activate it with another SIM it unlocks ? I am in France myself.
See this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/watch-sport/lg-sport-280a-att-version-unlocked-t3851436

I had the 280 and it did not work in the UK, with any of the 4 network providers.
Sold it and bought the 281 instead that I still use today.
Been great with latest FW and a new battery.
Full day no problem with LTE.

Do you know anywhere to get it at a good price? Only one on ebay is over 300€!

I bought mine on eBay, 2 years ago now.
It wasn't until I was on holiday in the US with my 280, and it came alive with my UK SIM, I just had to get the 281 when back home.
They are nearly 3 years old now, about time alternatives are available, alas they are all eSim that complicates things somewhat.
Mine now, is what it should have been over 2 years ago.
Unfortunately the latest FW was too late with watches that had 2 year old batteries if used daily. Mine was shot, a new battery and it has been great with the latest FW.

I was looking for a budget option so it was between the huawei watch 2 and the lg sport ( thought about the ticwatch pro 4g but more expensive ). Don't like the look of the huawei watch though. I should receive my lg sport soon but a bit disappointed if it wont work in Europe so will have to look out for a 281 model or something new unless we can unlock the bands somehow. Someone seemed to be saying that if the bootloader is unlocked then the bands are aswell...

Have received the watch and I can confirm that is doesn't work in France. The bootloader is also locked. Despite that I'm still enjoying the watch and am getting good battery life with wake gestures disabled.
Still interested in unlocking it if possible, someone has found a usb cable and has managed to unlock the bootloader recently: https://forum.xda-developers.com/we...atch-sport-bootloader-unlock-success-t3949709

[Q] T-Mobile USA LTE suppport

I'm looking at http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-z1/specifications/#tabs LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20), http://www.gsmarc.com/sony/xperia-z1/reviews/ and http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5627.
It seems unlocked Z1 shouldn't have problem supporting T-Mobile LTE in USA. Is that correct or is there still a chance that somehow unlocked (international) Z1 won't support LTE on T-Mobile?
I showed a T-Mobile rep the list of bands and frequencies, they said it shouldn't have any problem connecting to their LTE. That's obviously not a direct conformation that it will, but they said they would do everything they can if there is a problem. I do know a rep will say almost anything to get you on their side of the force but she was looking at bands with me on her computer and getting other people over as well. Only time will tell. Mine ships out the 16th from the UK to the States.
It will most likely work.
Also they are expecting it next week any day.

I think you don't even have to wait for the north american variant but can go straight for the C6903 when it's available.

Where did u buy from?
I'm looking at Negri Electronics but wanted to know if there is better deal out there
I grabbed mine from unlocked-mobiles.
They start shipping out the 16th which is, I believe, 4 days before Negri. I got the UPS 2-3 day shipping. When I priced out Negri it was a total of $38 less which wasn't enough for me to cancel my order that is already processing.
they expect a shipment any day next week.

Look at clove.co.uk They're offering the Smartwatch 2 with purchase and it's less $. I had original pre-ordered with Negri when they advertised the phone at $729.50. As I watched the price continue going up I started looking elsewhere and ended up at Clove.
I wish I read few more posts before buying I bought it on Negri, oh well I'm getting new phone

Got mines from HandTec UK for the same reasons you've stated. I'm now trying to decide whether or not to use or sell the Smartwatch 2.
I got mine from unlocked-mobiles.com and it ships tomorrow. When the Smartwatch 2 is released on the 30th that gets shipped for free and in phases over £100 free content. I'm in America.
GSM NATION got the Z1 in stock
This site in US got the phone in stock already too

I got mine at clove also.

[Q] Convert US to Global version?

Hi guys,
I am from Europe and lost my Smartphone on a holiday in the US. So I went to bestbuy and bought a Moto G 2nd unlocked. I told the lady I am from Europe and need it to work in Europe. Nevertheless now back at home i found out she sold me the US version instead of the Global one and i get no 3g connection here in Austria. (yeah they had both versions at stock for the same price, but now its to late)
So is there any possibility i can get my XT1064 (US version) to XT1063 (Global) by flashing ROMs or anything else? Or are the phones different in terms of hardware and I have now a nearly useless phone here in Austria while being without wifi coverage?
Thanks for any information
Daniel
I'm curious about this also as I'm planning on traveling in EU. From what I've gathered it would be a no on 3G.I would guess it is going to be a hardware problem since the US version does not feature 2100 MHz data.

Yeah thats the exact problem. I do not get a 3G signal cause the US version misses the 2100 MHz band, so in Europe you just are able to use EDGE as a maximum with the US version
I'm guessing that it's only returnable in store if returnable at all. If it's that new you could go the Ebay route and offer a good discount. It may sell fairly quickly, especially with the prices some of those sellers ask.

Sending stuff from Europe to the US is a pain *****, since US authorities check everything. So yeah, i just have to stick with i wasted 190 bucks on a wifi internet only phone
That's probably why it took a month to get a pineapple corer I ordered. It sat in NY for 3 weeks. You can never be too careful with those pineapple corers.

4G/LTE Samsung tablets also region locked?

I saw a surprising note on clove.co.uk I think it was, they said all Samsungs shipped after 2013 are region locked. This was a note on the bottom of the page for a Tab S2 LTE. They went as far to say they were no longer selling sealed boxes because they are region unlocking all devices before selling to international buyers.
Can anyone confirm/deny there's a region lock on Samsung's 4G/LTE tablets? Thanks.

I dont think that's true. My Tab S LTE is international unlocked made in mid 2014 and sealed.
Tab A 9.7 lte I bought last year same thing.
Thanks. I didn't buy from them after I read that, I bought from another place to make sure I didn't get an open box item for the prices everybody is charging. It has not been shipped yet although it was supposed to go out Friday. I guess I will use it on wifi just to be safe until I get to the region where I bought it. Heading there for work anyway. BTW I didn't mean carrier unlocked, I meant region unlocked. Not sure if that came through ok.

I bought my 715Y from Amazon in USA.
It is unlocked but I still haven't gotten MM and it is out for 715Y for more than a week.
However my local SIM card works fine.
There was a time when you had to activate the SIM in the country you bought it from (mine is built in Vietnam, impossible for me) and then it was OK anywhere.
None of that merry go round with the 715Y.

Pretty much all of them are built in Vietnam.
In the end I couldn't find anyone to ship me an LTE model so I got the wifi only model which kinda sucks but is ok for now. I couldn't get the Exynos version either, the stores that would ship here only had the new one. I got a T819 with the Qualcom. I'll try to pick up an LTE version when I go to Europe for work later. Thanks guys.

Yeah it even says "designed and built in Vietnam" Kinda interesting, I had no idea Vietnam was a high tech center or that Samsung had a facility there.
Samsung UK support says LTE tablets are definitely region locked. I don't know if I believe them since they were trying to push me to buy a tablet in my country- which has no Samsung store, and no Samsung presence except for a company that is the "official importer" that has nothing in stock and doesn't import the tab s2 in lte anyway. I call B.S. and I would bet money the tablets aren't region locked like you guys seem to be saying. But I can't prove it until I see an LTE tab box with the region lock warning.
My S2 bought in Hungary died the day after i took it to the usa and put in a local sim. Specially the imei and the baseband went null. Hungary tech support says it's due to the out of region sim. Believe it or not.
The whole thing is kinda stupid. It seems to make some sick kind of sense with phones from a corporate strong-arming the customer point of view. On the phones they say you have to make an actual 5 minute voice call to unlock, they specifically say using data won't work. The whole point of an LTE tablet is not to make calls, although you can. It's supposed to keep you connected when you're away from wifi. So what are people supposed to do? Hold up a ten inch brick to their heads and make a 5 minute call to region unlock it?
The phones that are region locked are supposed to come with a warning sticker on the box. Unless your tablet packaging specifically warns of the region lock I call B.S. on Samsung support on this topic. Otherwise they've been reasonably helpful.

unlock additional bands for LG sport watch

Hi ,
I've ordered the LG sport watch W280A and the lte bands and one of the umts band are not supported in my country , I need band 3 and 1 for LTE and band 8 for umts,
Someone knows maybe how to unlock them?
I understand that you need root device too, I'm still new in smartwatchs, I don't know if this even possible..
Thanks a lot

I really want to try it, I found some guides but I don't got the watch yet, I know also that few people in this forum talked about this subject,
The first thing to find out is if we can root this device and also if the adb is capable of entering diag mode.. if you can check this , we will continue
I should get mine in a month or less. Once I have it I may try rooting if I have some guide.
If I had the guides, I would certainly try with mine for sure.
Try this, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
I saw that you post this link before
The problem is , how to enter to diag mode, you can't connect the watch with cable to the computer..
Hi guys. My LG Watch Sport arrived it is W280 from Google Store. The supported bands are GSM 850/1900 WCDMA 850/1900 LTE 850/1700/1900. Have you found any way to unlock more bands. I would need WCDMA 2100 and LTE 1800.

Where are you from?
I live in the UK and ordered the W281 which apparently supports:
2G - 900 MHz
3G - 2100 MHz
4G - 1800 MHz (B3) - no idea what "B3" is
3store in the UK has the following:
800MHz (4G)
1800MHz (4G)
2100MHz (3G)
Do you think it will work?
I will definitely update here once I get it (hopefully) as I ordered from eglobalcentral which is not really a reliable company (according to Trustpilot reviews)

I ordered it on 24/06/2017 from eglobalcentral.co.uk and waiting for it to arrive tomorrow (17/07/2017). The company is definitely unreliable - when you check on their website both of the colours are available, but that is definitely not true. I had to wait for them for a week and a half to ship it since they did not have it in stock. And how I found out - I sent them several e-mails, raised tickets and lost ages to find their "chat" option (this does not exist), only to find out that if you leave a bad review on Trustpilot they will respond. But do not expect them to reply back if you e-mail them again.
Finally on the 5th they sent me a tracking number with DHL - the watch stayed from 05/07 to 13/07 in DHL`s warehouse in Manchester (this is what the tracking shows - maybe they teleported it from HK to UK in one day and then DHL decided to play with my watch ). Only when I e-mailed them it started moving slowly to different warehouses in the UK. I had an estimated delivery on Friday (14/07) and was so exited, but did not receive it. I track it probably 10 times a day and at the moment there is no estimated delivery date, but I live in Portsmouth and the parcel is in Southampton, so I am hoping tomorrow is the day!!!
Fingers crossed...
P.S. Check this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/watch-sport/help/uk-release-t3595923/page9#post73054026

Yes it arrived on the day. I am happy with the watch - a bit slower than my Gear S2 tbh, but I love the design. Plus - you have 4G if you need it...you also have Android Pay - again slow, but works.
Btw if you switch off HR, LTE and wi-fi and do not use always on display your battery will last more than a day (1.5 days),so people complaining about battery life never owned a smartwatch before. I was doing the same on my gear s2 to achieve the same battery life. It had a smaller battery ofc, but also a smaller display...

Hi, did you manage to make it work? I have an LG Urbane 2 (W200A) and an LG Sport (W280A) using the same frequencies and bands (according to the published specs). The Urbane 2 works fine (3G/HSPA), while the Sport doesn't connect to the network with any of the available networks (LTE, 3G, 2G). The carrier is Orange France and the SIM I'm using is the same in the two cases..

Those buying/bought from never-msrp ebay. Anyone else similar price no issues?

Just wondering if people considering buying from never-msrp or those that have bought from them realize they do not offer any warranty on their devices? Literally zilch and not even the manufacturers warranty is apparently honored?
Further, contacted them 6 days ago with couple of questions and no response. Sent a follow up couple of days ago and still no response.
So apart from price wondering if I am missing something here..... They dont honor manufacturers warranty, they dont offer any warranty (unless you buy extra from 3rd party) and they apparently can't be bothered to even reply so they can take my money...Wondering what they would be like then if something goes wrong
Is there anyone else people recommend with similar pricing but honors warranty and has good customer service?
I am after the 64gb dual sim SM-N950F/DS and they are selling it for $820 delivered.
Manufacturers typically don't give warranty for grey market devices. Or more accurately, they will only honor the warranty in the market the device was made for, so if you buy a Korean phone, Samsung USA won't honor the warranty but you can still get warranty on it if you send it back to Korea.

Right. Except I read never-msrp will not do that and will have nothing further to do with the process once you have bought it unlike some other sellers that will deal with Samsung in their region to honor warranty for you and ship replacement back to you and so on. Never-msrp hasn't even bothered to respond yet...
In one case, if true, the customer had a Sony phone and Sony USA wouldnt honor the warranty and Sony HK upon being presented the device and ebay/paypal purchase receipt wouldnt honor the warranty either claiming that it was sold overseas and warranty is no longer valid (of course that isn't Samsung so not sure what Samsung might pull especially since you wouldn't have any support from never-msrp or their original purchase receipt...)
Warranty is a concern when you are spending near $1000 or more...
OP, you don't want to buy from that seller anyway. That variant has the OEM unlock time released cancer.

What do you mean by OEM unlock time released cancer? Don't they all take 7 days past activation and usage for the OEM UNLOCK to show up?
Then who apart from Clove is good? Still clarifying with qd_us if theirs shows OEM UNLOCK or not (last response was their's are Taiwan SM-N950F/DS, region free and no one has reported any issues yet).

Factor in the DHL shipping and it works out to $950. This is one big mess. Korean version no issues, EU version no issues if activated in EU first and 5 min call is made, HK/CN version apparently might work, UAE version apparently ok, the U version apparently locked down junk, the SG/TW sourced versions may or may not work (at least TW from never-msrp may not work)....

ATT sucks in AZ anyway lol
I've purchased a Galaxy Tab Pro and a S from them before. Devices were both brand new and had no issues so I'm not certain as of the warranty service. But I do believe they offer a limited 30 day warranty or something if the product malfunctions. Like the posters above said, the manufacturer warranty is usually covered by the country the product is shipped from. They sell mostly international variants so it makes sense.

Yeah, they are **** heads. I remember about 7 months ago contacting them vis eBay in respect of buying a Samsung tab s2, their response was sub par at best. I ended up buying it from someone else.

I bought a Note 8 from Never MSRP. So far it seems to be good but I was little worried since the "security seal" on the box is the old white style found on S4 or S5 plus the Ink quality on the security label looked pretty shabby. The colour of the black fades. When I turned the phone on it loaded right away to a loaded phone screen which might also indicate that it wasn't factory sealed. Normally you would have to go through all the initial settings like language and what not first, am I right here ?
So other then that, it does seem like its a legit note 8 as far as performance goes. I am slightly worried that its a really really good fake but everything works so far and I'm using a T mobile sim.
It is a mystery to me as to how this unscrupulous ebay seller never msrp has a 99% favorable rating. I purchased a galaxy s8 plus, and when it arrived I noticed the ebay listing stated there was an adapter included. This aroused my suspicion that this was an international version, with no manufacturer's warranty. Amazon sellers clearly indicate when items are international version/no u.s. warranty. Not sure why ebay does not demand this kind of transparency. I returned the phone in an unopened box, and in addition to shelling out $10 in return shipping fees, I had to wait 8 days for a refund. Stay far away from this seller, awful experience
I got mine from amazon for 700ish from my company. It comes with no warranty either but I'm not worried about it. I'd go for the pixel 2 xl instead of the note 8. It's def not worth 850 of your hard earned money. If it was 600ish sure.
Bought the Samsung SM-N950U for $649.99 at Amazon today. 300 bucks combined savings, incl. $100 amazon prime membership.
The note 8 from never MSRP is going for 539.99. I bought an S8+ from them a year ago and tempted to get the note. Is it silly to upgrade from s8+ knowing the 2 phones are almost similar?

Tough decisions:laugh:, always too many choices, they also ran promotion for LG V35 ThinQ $599.99, but I realized they slipped some amazon software into that phone and I really wanted that stylus.
