Mi9 t Pro Correct Twrp - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hi fellow Mi9 T owners i am a bit confused as to which version of twrp we need to use for the MI9T pro. Is it the same twrp as the K20 or should there be another one which we need to wait for. Also iff on global stable rom will flashing magisk root the phone withoout issues because i have read about people on global stable getting bootloops and the sytem booting into fastboot after flashing magisk. I hope someone can clear this up thanks.

Good question. Would need an answer, too.

Theoretically you should be able to use all K20 pro TWRP recoveries. But it's seems that some devs need to fix their TWRPs because of compatibility issue.
Check that here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80179821&postcount=35
And here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80166281&postcount=32

This TWRP helped me:

Ive been on the telegram group trying to get device specific answers but it seems most users are indian k20 pro owners and seem to just ignore any of my questions completely. I have created my own Mi9T pro telegram channel but i dont know how to get people to join it.

Great this working fine on 9T Pro Europe.

Hey guys, long time I have not been on XDA. I'm an early adopter of an European MI 9T PRO, and I just unlocked the bootloader.
Long story short :
I almost can't use any recovery, including the greek one. After flashing if I try to boot on the newly updated recovery, I get on fastboot.
I said almost because I can run this one : https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/development/unofficial-twrp-3-3-1-0-t3960391 but I cannot flash anything ! I always get stuck on error 7. Well, I have been able to see syberia OS splash screen, but that's it.
I think that all the recoveries have been thought for K20 pro, not MI 9T.
Did you guys achivied to run a flash with that greek recovery ? Coming from a european MI 9T PRO.
Thanks for your help.

Hello mine is a European mi9t Pro also and that is the reason I created this thread because in the telegram chat group all the discussions refer to the k20 Pro related recoveries. I'm not filled with much hope after reading your post because in a few hours I'm about to unlock my bootloader to. Have you tried the orange fox recovery that one might be another good one to try. Please get back to me if you have any luck with any of them and also I think the main thread should have been split and we should have had a separate xda page for the mi9t pro.

You could contact @mauronofrio and ask him for help.
I don't think there is much to do to fix all the problems.
Mi 9T Pro is recognized as "raphael_eea" and the K20 pro is just "raphael". Take some logs and show mauro. He knows what to do.:good:
I remember back on the Mi9 we had similar issues with "cepheus" and "xiaomi9".

I need to find the logs to send it to him.

Well I managed to root with the Greek twrp and although safety net passes none of my Banking apps or Google play will work.

I have a European Mi 9T Pro and unlocked my bootloader yesterday. I flashed mauronofrios TWRP (https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363) using fastboot flash, booted into the newly installed TWRP (holding VolUp+Power keys), immediately installed Magisk 19.3, cleared Dalvik+Cache and rebooted to system. As far as i can see, everything works flawlessly. I did however not flash another ROM, especially not one based on Android 10. For the time being, i'm satisfied with using the default Pie-based EEA ROM with root.

That's the same as me but I have rooted the stock eea EU ROM. Works great although I have one issue that twrp is encrypted and I have to put in my pin every time to decrypt even tho I flashed encrypt disabler.

Flashing the disabler does not decrypt an already crypted data partition. You'd have to format the data partition, then flash the disabler. Losing all your data, of course...

that is exactly whta i did after rooting i then formated data followed by encrypt disabler but still encrypted.

Anyone else getting the feeling there will be no Nougat for our device?

I have a sixth sense for when a device has been all but abandoned, and I am getting that feeling now. Considering they just released a huge MIUI update without the Mix, I can't say I am particularly hopeful for the future of this phone. May be time to throw it up on swappa while it's still worth something.

The "huge MIUI update" you are referring to is MIUI 8.2. If you check your device info, you'll see that the Mix is already running MIUI 8.2. This is why you didn't see the Mix in the list of updated devices.
Now, regarding the Nougat update, considering Xiaomi built a lot of hype with the Mix, it is unlikely that Xiaomi will abandon this device.
But Xiaomi has a history of abandoning some really good devices like the MiPad. So we'll never know.
Well, no, its 8.2 global. A global rom doesn't even exist for the Mix. So I consider that a huge update.
N for the mix is already in testing according to mods on the eu and official forum. Also recently saw a listing for the mi mix EVO with a qc835, plus the CEO wants to build another mix....My gut feeling is this phone isn't going anywhere and we will have N within a quarter. Remember the s7 just got N on carriers in the US this week.

You won't receive any updates as long as you're on the Vendor ROM. You need to flash to the EU ROM or one of the custom ROMs in this forum using the guides provided. The guides are quite straightforward. So you'll safely boot the ROM you want providing you follow the guides EXACTLY.
I personally prefer the Xiaomi.EU ROM and I just checked the languages available on this ROM for you. Found "Norsk Bokmal" in the list of available language options. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is Norwegian. I am not sure though as I don't know the language.
Cheers!

Whilst in no way invalidating the examples of times when their support wasn't great, there have also been times when Xiaomi's support for their devices has been well-above-average - someone recently posted a thread on reddit detailing one such example.
So we can't read too much into previous devices as a guide for what will happen with the Mix.
These sorts of threads appear for almost every device - it doesn't matter which device or which manufacturer, they inevitably pop up. People convince themselves they know what's going to happen and, most of the time, they're wrong.
Not to mention, Xiaomi have publicly stated the Mix will be one of their devices to be updated to Nougat.
A pretty unnecessary thing to say if they're secretly planning to ignore it.

Rooting the phone is not a necessity to flash the EU ROM.. You should flash the dm-verity and forced encryption disabler patch on TWRP if you don't plan to root. Follow the guides exactly and you'll be fine.

Ok, ty for pointers! I have not full understandig of what the different words mean when it comes to flash, twrp and even root. I will have to read a lot before starting.

No, you have to unlock your bootloader only and flash TWRP using fastboot. But after installing Epic you're rooted anyway. Epic is pre rooted. For unlock procedure google unlock Xiaomi for example. Best is you start here:

Mine updated to 8.2.2.0 OTA just fine soon after I got things setup [it wanted or offered the update soon after being turned on - but I needed to sort stuff out first]. Abandoned ... hardly ... having run 7 on the Honor 8 and the Mate 9 ... its not THAT huge a thing to wait for it to come along through the usual process. Give it time and be patient, phones only a few months old anyways.

Vendor Firmware for mi 9 11.0.5.0 QFACNXM

Dear all! Thhank you for all the amazing custom roms in XDA! Really appreciate all your hardwork and the community spirit that keeps android modding going! :good:
I have been flashing custom roms for years and am very thankful that XDA exists as a means for me to learn on my own with the help of all the users. I have flashed before on Pocophone F1 and Mi 9T Pro. Currently I am doing one for my brother and he bought a Mi 9 Explorer edition. I have already inserted TWRP, decrypted the phone and am now at the process of trying to install Pixel Experience unofficial for the phone.
I have a few questions which i hope the community can help me with:
1) Are the Cepheus roms able to be used for the Mi 9 Explorer edition? Somewhat similar to how the K20 Pro and Mi 9T Pro are?
2) I am having difficulty trying to find a vendor firmware image before flashing the pixel experience rom. Is there any way somebody can point me in the right direction?
Thank you all in advanced!

Thanks for pointing me to the post by gianton but unfortunately he did not post any CN versions. I hope you can help me point in the right direction this time. Thank you and sorry for the misunderstanding!

General If you brick your device flashing .EU ROM. Here is some advice.

I spent ALL DAY yesterday on this forum and .EU Forum. BANGING MY HEAD trying to figure this out. I spent $90 of EDL services bricked my phone twice. Let me spare you the trouble.
SOME people are flashing from China ROM to .EU successfully but it seems like Luck.
SO if you end up bricked. Use MOD EDIT: Telegram Reference Removed. Have him put you on Global Rom 12.0.1. Cost $30 USD. I used him twice and another service that cost $35 once. I recommend MOD EDIT: Telegram Reference Removed because he seems like he legitimately cares to help you. THEN try flashing .EU over it(12.0.1 Global). It worked on my first try. There's reports from others here and .EU forums that this works.
So edl flash 12.0.1 Global. Then flash .EU via fastboot.
I crawled so you guys can walk. Because I really didn't mind the China ROM in the first place. I think I even prefer it over the .EU ROM that I'm now on. I sacrificed a day of sanity and $90 so we could find out a sure path to flash .EU as community. Now I think I still might go back to China 12.5.2 hahaha
To update my own thread. After spending LOTS of time tweaking .EU. I'm starting to really like it. Notifications are more consistent.
I tweaked the font to resemble China ROM instead of the awful Global Roboto. One of the reasons I kept thinking it didn't look "sharp" was because it wasn't
There was a "dynamic resolution feature" toggled on which dropped the resolution at times to save battery. NOPE turned that off.

Please help me out, I tried installing TWRP and then got a bootloop with no recovery or fastboot

I followed this video on youtube
and then got stuck in a bootloop with no recovery or fastboot.
After that I followed this video
that is supposed to unbrick redmi note 9 with no Auth
I installed python, pyserial json, installed cdc-acm.inf
and got the phone mediatek port showing up in libusb and installed the filtered driver
After I went into updated BTP folder and ran the two .bat files and now my phone screen is black,
nothing happens. Not even a bootloop.
I did try to complete the video and opened SP Flash Tool but got a rid bar stack at DA 100% for a few minutes then got an error
Is there any solution out there to unbrick this phone
I would really appreciate it. Thank you
EDIT: When I try to connect the usb port to the phone now I get this
`

I tried following this, "adb devices" doesn't show any listed device when I connect my phone, and now windows 10 gives error code 43 when I connect it, which didn't happen before.
Went to repair shop, he pressed power button with volume up or down, and the bootloop started again, I've been trying that all day yesterday but couldn't manage to show the screen.
Anyways I went back home after he did that, and followed the second video I linked and now my Redmi is working fine. The issue is solved.

You're absolutely right. It's just that the video had many likes, the top comments were saying good things and in the description he only mentioned version 12.0.6 to cause a brick where I had 12.0.1 which is the one every youtube video installed custom ROMs on. I should've been more careful tho, I guess I'll stick to MIUI to avoid any issues although I hate it.

[Question] Bootloader unlockable? Custom ROMs? Root?

Hey, I'm currently wondering about leaving my Samsung Galaxy S9 running on LineageOS 18.1 behind and invest into more up-to-date hardware.
The Oppo Find X5 Pro catches my interest.
However, I'd want to switch to custom ROMs at some point, latest by the end of its update support and possibly root the device.
Considering this, would the Find X5 Pro still fit my needs?
Currently Bootloader Unlock is not possible. Maybe after three months...
Try to get to fastboot is hard . So far i figured out how to get to fastboot.
Run cmd from either Adb/fastboot folder or Adb from platform tools .
run the command:
adb devices
next run :
adb reboot bootloader
while it reboots hold the down volume and power.
it put into fastboot. After that Im lost. Thats as far as I got.
I cant read Chinese
If a phone is not rootable or custom rom possible etc - NO BUY!
Sry Oppo. Hope you Developers find a good way soon!

I came to the same conclusion. The release offers coming with all that extra stuff such as watch, wireless charger and protector seemed to be a good deal.
Especially, when my current phones battery struggles a lot, front camera issues came up and sometimes people I'm calling feel uncomfortable with extra noise.
Though, usually I'm someone who uses their phone for the extra mile. Knowing that Oppo is as restrictive toward a custom roms, protected me from making a not thought through gut decision.
Thanks for the help ...I just didnt have time to do google translate. I will unlock the bootloader tonight
After i get into the " you have entered fastboot " no matter what button combination i do... it will either just reboot or reboot to recovery
To unlock bootloader of OPPO phone, we need to use "Deep Testing" apk to request approval from OPPO, but there's no such apk for Find X5 Pro yet.
I'm OPPO Product Ambassador and asked OPPO to release it, but they replied their developer is not interested in it.

I'm not sure if its device specific but this one seems to be working on Realme GT2 Pro which has at least the same OS and SOC. Probably worth a look.
