I can't root my phone! 9.1 version - Huawei Mate 9 Pro Accessories

Hey guys,
My phone stuck during an update and I fixed it by a hard brick method-test point, so becuase I formatted it there is no files ?
I didnt find any twrp for huawei mate 9 pro Lon-L29!
I tried Magisk, kingoroot, and many programs plus applications that can root it, but nothing!
Is there any way to root it?
Its a 9.1 android version!

If you rooted your phone using magisk, you need to boot into recovery mode to have root access. You have to do this every time you restart your phone.

Hi, but the problem that there is no twrp for this phone so I cant root it with magisk, because when I tried to install the latest version of magisk it told me that the file(zip) is not supported!
I've searched in many websites but there is no solution!!!!

You don't need TWRP to root your Mate 9 Pro. I've had my Mate 9 Pro for over 2 years and always had it rooted but never had TWRP installed.
Follow this guide to root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9-pro/how-to/rooting-emui-9-0-1-t3913830
More details on installing Magisk and rooting without TWRP can be found here:
https://openkirin.net/

Thank you, I tried this method but it didnt work, I extracted update.app and after I got RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img I did this
"To patch yourself recovery_ramdisk and root with your own file:
3.a) Patch your *.img, that you have copied in any folder to your smartphone by pressing "Install" --> "Install" --> "Patch boot image" in Magisk Manager.
4 Transfer the patched file (You will find it in your download folder of your smartphone. It will be called "patched_boot.img".) to your PC, start Smartphone in fastboot mode and flash"
But there is no file in this name "patched_boot.img", I saw magisk_patched.img, and I flashed it in fastboot, but nothing!
I think if there is anyone who can root it he will be such a hero because there is no solution in google!!!

You did the steps correctly so far.
If you have flashed the correct patched_boot.img then you need to reboot your phone into recovery mode and select "Factory Reset" and I know it sounds like a joke, but it is the way you have to do it.
If you have flashed the correct patched_boot.img correctly, you need to select "Factory Reset", the phone will pretend to be resetting, but will boot into rooted mode. If you have flashed the patched_boot.img incorrectly, your phone will reset to factory settings and you have to restart the root process.
The magsik root method for the Mate 10 Pro works for Mate 9 Pro, look in their thread and you will find all the correct steps where the explain the "factory reset" trick.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/guide-magisk-root-mate-10-pro-t3886967
PS: You cannot use files for the Mate 10 Pro.

There is no patched_boot.img in the extracted update.app(new versions dont have it I think), but I found RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img and I patched it by Magisk and then I used fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk patched_ RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img, then>reboot to recovery mode>FR
But with no success!

You get the patched_boot.img when you run the extracted RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img through Magisk on your phone.
You have to extract the RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img from the update.app that matches your phone's software version.
Follow the guide here. (Whenever they mention RAM_DISK, you have to think RECOVERY_RAMDIS *RAMDIS not RAMDISK*)
https://openkirin.net/user_guide/how-to-install-magisk/
When they tell you: fastboot flash ramdisk patched_boot.img
You have to type: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk patched_boot.img

OMG
I dont believe that I succeeded!!!
My phone is rooted now!!
I did the steps again, in the end I did a FR and reboot, then I was shocked when I saw "your phone is rooted"!
I really thank you soooo much
Now there is a serious question :
Is there any option to recover files( doc, pic, vid, aud) after a hard brick and new version and FR???
I tried more than one program and app but they found nothing!

I'm glad you made it.
I have learned over the years to use cloud back up for my important files and never EVER get attached to files stored on the phone. Last time I formated my phone I lost about 5 gig of hand picked mp3s that I now have to hand pick again.

Thank you,
then I see that there is no hope to restore some of them? because I restored most of them from GDrive, but I didnt see all the videos and there is no docs!

[Tutorial] Convert Honor 6+ Chinese in European (only PE-TL10)

Today I bring new tutorial to completely convert the Honor 6 Plus Chinese in European. (It's only applicable for the model PE-TL10).
So we must have unlocked bootloader and root. If we meet these requirements, we can proceed with the conversion.
1. Download the latest European version (B571)
2. Create a folder called dload in the micro sd and introduce there the update.app
3. Download the European oeminfo here, unzip and move the oeminfo.img to internal memory.
4. Install the app termux or terminal emulator
5. Open the app and write "su" to get root permissions.
6. Later, write "dd if=/sdcard/oeminfo.img of=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/oeminfo" and when it finished, turn off the Smartphone.
7. Press Vol-+ and Power to install the European update.app and we will have turned the PE-TL10 Chinese in European.
Neither me or XDA we are not responsible for any misuse of the tutorial. I want to thank @foncubiert to try it

Hi guys,
self reply. I got through it. It was not completely without troubles, but finally I have Android 6.0 with EMUI 4.0.1 (build PE-TL10C432B571) in my PE-TL10 (originally on Android 4.4.2, EMUI 3.0, build PE-TL10V100R001CHNC00B260). I don't need a ROOT and custom recovery now so it is unrooted and stock recovery now.
First, I have never rooted Honor 6 PLUS and as it is not the newest device and it is not fully supported anymore by Honor MultiTool you have to use another way.
Bootloader has to be UNLOCKED - I used the MultiTool - it's fine and without any troubles
Device has to be ROOTED - that was a bit issue, because you have to flash custom recovery to be able to flash SuperSU and root the device. I did it via fastboot.
To enter the bootloader mode (fastboot) just switch off device, then hold Vol- and plug the USB cable - it should enter the bootloader mode - you should see the android robot and "phone UNLOCKED" indication.
Now you can use fastboot commands (you have to have proper drivers installed, you can find instructions on in another threads on XDA).
Or you can enter bootloader mode with command "adb reboot fastboot" - you have to be in the system (running Android) on the phone to run adb commands. It will restart your device and enter the bootloader mode after restarting.
Once you are in the bootloader mode with UNLOCKED bootloader you can flash custom recovery (necessary to flash SuperSU). I had to flash the proper custom recovery which I found here . I tried to flash another TWRP and CWM recoveries, but without success. You can flash the recovery with fastboot command "fastboot flash recovery CWM.img".
Then you can restart the device into the system with "fastboot reboot". Once you are in the system, you can reboot into recovery with command "adb reboot recovery".
In the recovery choose "install ZIP from ..." and choose this file. I had to choose the version BETA-SuperSU-v2.42.zip otherwise it didn't install anything despite the installation process was successful.
After the successful installation of SuperSU, you should have ROOTED device. You can check it for example with Root checker.
Then I mostly followed this tutorial. But with few modifcations.
I couldn't find this /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/oeminfo folder in my phone so I had to change the command for terminal emulator in the phone to dd if=/sdcard/oeminfo.img of=/dev/block/platform/ff1fe000.dwmmc0/by-name/oeminfo. There is another folder in "platform" folder but it doesn't contain "by-name" folder.
Then the tutorial says Press Vol-+ and Power to install the European update.app and we will have turned the PE-TL10 Chinese in European, but the issue is, you can't enter the "download mode" after you installed custom recovery. It simply doesn't enter the "download mode" and it stays on the screen with honor logo.
It was necessary to get into the system to be able to use fastboot command to flash stock recovery. How to solve it. I could't enter the system anymore, but I could enter the CWM. So I wiped the data and cache through CWM (Vol+ and Power button) and I was able to enter the Android system again.
I used again the "fastboot flash recovery B250.img" and flashed this recovery. It didn't correspond with my build version B260, but it helped.
Then I restarted the phone, entered again the system and through "Settings - Updater - Menu - Local update" and choose the "UPDATE.APP" from "dload" folder (it should be automatically detected) and whoila, it should restart the device and load "download mode" and install the UPDATE.APP. You should be able to do this step with Vol+- Power button combination instead of doing it through "Settings menu". And that's all.
I rather added some of used files into the attachment
Hello there I have a Honor 6 plus PE-UL00 that i want to change to European rom from China variant. Its rooted Android 6 Marshmallow with custom recovery TWRP
Firmware PE-UL00C00561. I'm still a beginning t limited knowledge,. I've learnt what I could from the forums. anyhow..
As per the changing rom guide , I downloaded The European rom B571 update.app and placed it in sdcard DLOAD folder as well put the OEM.img on the hard drive and ran termux and entered the command as per the guide and it seemed to work.
The Next step says ton turn the phone off And then press the volume+/- and Power button.. and it will load into the system and install the rom.
As per The post above, i got up to that step and the phone would Just boot to menu then reset.. I was able to get in recovery mode via TWRP and ran my backup.
I've read Post that the PE.UL00 can be converted, but is it following the exact same way as the PE-TL10? Or I may be missing a step.
The above post encountered a similar issue and had success, but his was a PETL10 and had hise his own recovery.img. (250.img to access his system and update the rom. in that scenario would l try to flash my recovery.img to get back into the system and run the local update?
Lastly another person had commented about their success converting a PE-UL00 to European rom. But just mentioned that it was through TWRP. Would that be just a matter of one I've done the OEM.img boot back into recovery and installed the app through TwRp or must I do a full wipe First?
Sorry for rehashing an old thread.. any advice much appreciated.
.
I got it working. After the OEM. IMG update I tried flashing it through TWRP. After some trial and error, my power button isn't responsive sometimes so maybe i wasnt pressing the volume down/up power button combo correctly. As the phone would just biot to Honor screen and reset.
Eventually after a few reboots and tries it went into the emui screen download mode and success.. I think. I did lose root in the process. I'm unsure how, still a novice, but I was able to re root the phone install custom recover via. TWRP and install SuperSU.
Now I don't have to deal with those China apps

May I know how did you rooted the chinese version device ?

PRA-LX1 I want to install stock firmware.

I want to flash my phone with stock firmware, but I cannot find it anywhere.
I am looking for PRA-LX1C738B123.
I own Huawei p8 lite 2017
I wiped my system because I wanted to install other rom, it didn't work so I want to go back to the original.
Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to do a backup before so I am stuck atm. The bootloader is unlocked and flashing works, I can boot into huawei eRecovery and TWRP. (eRecovery gives the getting package info failed error) I have tried the dload method with other app files, it fails at 5% every time tho.
I tried using Huawei Update Extractor and Firmware Finder but I cannot find the exact firmware.
Could someone help me with installing my firmware? Oh and I am kinda new and it would be nice to get some guides,
Thanks.
I have the same problem but with a different firmware.. now only thing i can do is use dc-phoenix paid software (15$ for 72h of use). I will try that tomorrow as i also can't find exact same firmware it was on my phone.

Thanks for reply. I will take that into consideration, but from what I see you were looking for PRA-LX1C432B106 and they indeed have the c432 roms there, however they don't seem to have the ones that I have been looking for. They have a list of firmwares online. Anyway good luck.

Hello ! I think I could be of some help since I encountered the exact same problem !
edit: well I just realized I can't find your ROM with firmware finder either, sorry for the failed attempt
In your case I'd try with each firmware until one would work or a I tried them all.
You need some utilities first :
- Firmware Finder
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146
It will allow you to find the stock ROM that fits your model
-Huawei UPDATE extractor
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
It will allow you to extract the .img files from the firmware previously downloaded.
-fastboot and adb
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
The programs that will allow you to flash the .img files.
Now:
1. Find your ROM using firmware finder (the model is usually on the box you received the android in).
2.Extract the necessary .img files : system.img, boot.img, recovery.img.
3.Reboot into the bootloader, connect your device to your computer, open a cmd exe (powershell in my case) by holding shift+right click on the folder containing the .img files and flash each .img file, e.g. for the system file:
"fastboot flash system system.img"
4.then use "fastboot reboot" and after that shutdown your device
(in my case even after flashing the .img files I was greeted by a blank screen, so I shutdown my device holding the power button).
5. Boot into recovery holding vol up + power buttons (be sure to disconnect your device before shutting down and powering it up again) and choose factory reset.
It should then reboot into ROM installation procedure where you will have to follow the same steps as when you booted your device for the first time.
edit: formatting
Also, as far as my limited knowledge goes, there is no custom ROM officially supported for our dear device.

Yes I had the exact same problem, but once I did what I described, by rebooting into recovery (without twrp), I finally had the option to restore factory settings.
I believe the issue is in the fact you don't have access to the stock ROM for your model.

Where did you find the C432 firmware? I can't succees to find it
Flashing to a completely empty phone via DC phoenix or manual via fastboot still didnt got my device started. Sometimes I end up in the eRecovery and sometimes its just stuck at boot.
I tried different version from the hicloud but none so far did the trick. Maybe someone can point me into the right direction so i can finally rescue this phone?
EDIT:
PRA-LX1C432
Sorry cant link to these files since i don't got 10 posts. Maybe PM ?
Copied the Mega TWRP backup (B100) to SD card
Flashed TWRP via fastboot
Disconnected the USB cable
Boot into TWRP
Restored TWRP backup
Restarted phone into fastboot
OEM unlocked it
Got booted into TWRP since no stock recovery there
Booted into fastboot again
flashed stock recovery
Android started to work!
Tried to update to B164 and failed
Reboot
Now it offered B110 and I tried to update to B110. Success.

Yes I had the exact same problem, but once I did what I described, by rebooting into recovery (without twrp), I finally had the option to restore factory settings.
I believe the issue is in the fact you don't have access to the stock ROM for your model.

bricked device with oreo, old unbrick doesnt work

hi guys,
yesterday i installed the oreo beta on my VTR-L29 but then i brickedd it *cry*. unfortunateley the unbrick methods found here in the forum don't work because the oreo update made some changes in the system file structure...
has anyone an idea what to do?
maybe someone can provide me a recovery image for twrp? (one for oreo, otherwise it wont work) so i can give this a try...
after over 10 hours of fiddeling around a found a really easy solution:
most of you know HWOTA helps with this, but the "normal" version wont work after flashing oreo. but this version is flashed via twrp and is still working!
but you will need a oreo compatible twrp, which you can find here
i know the links are to mate 9 software, but since the p10 and mate 9 are nearly identical, it works on the p10 as well
can you post the step by step guide?
i am on oreo 8.0.0.046 and want to flash another version, or downgrade to nougat because few things don't work on this version
i dont know if downgrading works, i just reflashed the latest oreo.
accordingly to the first link it should work, just flash the TWRP from the second link and then follow the instructions from the first link.

i did sucsses to install twrp but on the second step, when i press on install on twrp, the phone restart to erocovey and failed to find the files. what am i doing wrong?
i think that i am stuck with that version forever....
if you reboot to erecovery, you have not successfully installed twrp. you have to install it with "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk <path to twrp>"

Bricked, no TWRP access, any ideas?
Hi.
I know this about a P10, I have a P10 Plus (VKY-L29C605), but the process should be similar, I think.
I bricked my phone after succesfully upgrading from B174 to B321 using HWOTA. After which I decided, since I was at it, to flash the Hyperplus Kernel. This led to a bootloop. To fix it I decided to just go ahead and HWOTA B321 all over again and get over it, and would have probably gone just fine, except I decided to rebrand (C605 > C432) while I was doing that, silly (no, stupid) mistake. This led to the brick I am currently expriencing, I have no recovery access, erecovery or TWRP.
So now I am left trying to unbrick the phone. I extracted the UPDATE.APP for both update_all_hw.zip and update.zip using the Huawei Extractor Tool with no difficulty, except unbricking methods ask for boot.img, which I could not find, so I went along without it and flashed: cust.img, recovery_ramdisk.img (using fastboot recovery_ramdisk command for Oreo), and system.img. All of the commands completed succesfully, but no shebang, still bricked and no recovery access. I figure this has to do with the rebrand as the result after executing the command "fastboot getvar vendorcountry" shows the rebrand pulled through (hw/eu 432).
I am currently downloading HWOTA8.zip (3GB worth of download) to see if I can do something it. I am also downloading the L29C432B360 OTA-FULL, since I believe I am not getting any progress becuase I used the updates for L29C605B321.
The kind people at funkyhuawei told me they could fix it with their tool, but I don't have the money for that right now.
I will post updates, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Many of us have posted over this in the last couple of days. Seems like Funky Huawei unbrick tool was the mehtod to get it work for me. You could try that!
or use dc-phoenix for me it worked (= in the moment i try to capture the usb ports kommunikation so i have the tool with the aktual firmware longer for 3 days :silly:
would first give dc a try 20 bucks for 3 days is ok i think (=

Must download some software for your phone, unzip update.zip, decompile UPDATE.APP to .iso files, (like recovery.iso, system, iso, vendor iso, boot iso) use fastboot and 10 minuts job, I brik my device over 10 thimes, and repair it.
So I was able to get the C432B360 firmware and I flashed it, but no I can't enter recovery mode because the battery is low (red lightning bolt/red led flash). Anybody know how to charge or force recovery mode boot from fastboot?
If anyone needs, can use my DC-Phoenix account, I don`t need it anymore.

Greeting,
Can you explain the procedure of how to do it?
Thank you

Brick too Far? After oreo update and failed root, Impossible to get into recovery.

Today, I had successfully updated my L09-C432 (rebranded to L29) to Oreo. I decide to keep going and try to root using the magisk method present in the guide section.
During that process, I had several error, so I decided to flash the ramdisk. I all went downhill from there, impossible to restore any of the images I had on TWRP. Eventually I tried following HWOTA but for some reason. TWRP for oreo is not recognize by ADB on my system, I then decided to launch the upgradeoreo.zip according to this method as I had the files on my SD-card prior. Which led me to be unable to get into fastboot.
I am now left with the following error>
ERROR MODE:
Attention!
Please update system again
green android of death
Error!
Func NO: 11 (recovery image)
Error NO: 2 (load failed!)
All I have left at this point is a functional fastboot,
I have tried:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
All of which complete successfully but none of them help me get forward. I am left with the same error.
All of which were extracted from the UPDATE.APP of the OREO update I had successfully completed on my phone.
Concerning TWRP:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (nougat version) fails.
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (oreo version) succeeds but I am left with the same error.
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (HWOTA8 version) succeds but left with the same error.
I have wandered the forums and tried a diversity of suggestion none of them seemed to work in my case.
What are your suggestion to fix this problem?
Any help you can provide is much appreciated.
I can probably find a way to pop my SD_Card into my laptop if necessary.
Same problem here, I have tried multi_tool 8 without any success. Maybe someone you can share a TWRP backup?
I was wondering if the dload method could be an option? Which firmware to use in that case?
There is Huawei official service ROM for P10 Lite and P10 Plus. Cannot find for P10.
Do you think the Funky Huawei unbrick tool would resolve this (($$$, but cheaper than a non-warranty repair...)
If so would I just use the circa 4 GByte update.app file from the update.zip firmware file, rather than the smaller update.app from update_all_hw.zip?

I tried the dload method that is a no go. Besides the other option DC-phoenix (which is a pay mehtod as well ) I feel like these are our last resort.

And yes you should use the 4.3GByte update.app file. Are you trying the tool? If so, let us know how it works out! It is the next step for me.

Well, I coughed up the cash to FunkyHuwawei and have made some progress....
After using their unbrick tool, I now have access to eRecovery, and am pondering the best way to fully flash the ROM.
The Funky Huawei eRecovery method doesn't seem to work (I did change my router's DNS as instructed), and I'm hesitant to try the manual update method again given the issues people seem to be having with it.
Any suggestions?

Well I guess I am going to fork up the cash too. ($100 in one day for him, not bad eh?)
Can you restore TWRP? maybe you can follow the HWOTA method without the first couple of steps? Also, can you not recover using the dload method then or just download the software from the recovery?
Well I can confirm, the fix worked splendidly, it got me in erecovery where I was able to delete the userdata (unfortunate but perhaps necessary).
Then a couple of reboots and I am back in an Android. So happy!

So it looks like the unbrick tool actualy installed the full ROM correctly - I can't have been giving it enough time to boot.
However the first time it booted the DPI was screwy just as it was after I mistakenly flashed the P10+ Oreo ROM (maybe the data partition hadn't been wiped). But a quick factory reset and all's well, and I'm over the moon to have rescued my phone with a little (i.e. lot) of help from FunkyHuawei - and a bit of cash.
Now to decide whether I want/need to risk rooting again...

Rooting is where it all went to **** for me. I am staying the hell away from it until a lot of people confirm it works fine!
Are you having only limited functionality as well? It seems like we have to reinstall the update data file as well as the update hw file?

Limited in what respect? Mine seems fine so far - the radios work (cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth) and the system and the few apps I've tried so far are working as expected.
The notification toolbar is gone? Is that normal? Did i miss out on android removing them?

Nope, my notification toolbar is working.
A factory reset fixed some weirdness for me, but you said you'd wiped userdata in eRecovery which I guess has the same effect?
used the dc-phoenix tool with the one part Update and now my phone is back (= it is worth it 20 bucks because i have now 3 days for testig and rebuilding (=

Ha! you are funny! Several of us mentioned here that fastboot didn't work in our case to repair the device.

OOS stable boot image and patched magisk boot image both for 11.1.1.1.

Leaving this here as i ended up boot looping from installing custom kernel, and it being a new release i was pulling my hair trying to figure this out.
Flashed through fastboot with "fastboot flash boot_a XX.img, fastboot flash boot_b XX.img"
Magisk included as thats the one i ended up using.
Save yourself the headache if you are planning on installing a custom kernel for now, and wait till the kinks have been ironed out.
I found a workaround. Firstly go to fastboot mode and flash stable.img from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...os11-open-beta-2-3-and-stable-latest.4316563/ and boot into recovery. Now download TWRP and magisk and transfer to internal storage. Now flash TWRP and then download full OTA from here And put in storage https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6-6t-oxygenos-11-1-1-1/
and flash it. Don't reboot once it says done. Go back and re install twrp.zip. Now reboot. Go to recovery and install magisk and clear dalvik. Now reboot and enjoy.
Thanks to
KizuYuna and Skanda Hazarika for providing stable.img and OTA respectively.

Thats what worked for me, had to improvise as the OTA was brand new when I installed it, and bricked it with a new kernel, and had tried to fix it by flashing an old boot img but ended up complicating things even more.
You could always grab the stock 11.1.1.1 boot img and patch it in magisk manager yourself but procedure would be the same in fastboot

Just for the benefit of all (if it matters), noticed that Magisk wasn't passing the Safety Net check and was showing failed for all 3. Used this fix and all is well now (Used the Sept 13 update on the page)
previously patching with stable 11.1.1.1 and broke some major functionality (eg: wifi crash, mess up video player and codec), now try to patch with magisk version, will update later

This one works great. Thank you.
The attached file in #13 above worked, thank you!
In case someone would like to now "How to do it" until next time this is how I did it:
How to install OOS update and root via created patch.img file in the Magisk app
1. Download the full version eg the OOS 11.x.x.x.zip file on the computer, and copy the file to the phone's internal memory as well.
2. Run the payload_dump program (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1899786940962605222) to extract a boot.img from the computer. You have to extract the payload.bin file from the OOS 11.x.x.x.zip file and place it in the Input folder, then run the exe-file and wait for payload to complete, then copy over the boot.img file found in the Output folder to the phone.
3. Go to Magisk app on the phone, click on the top install "Magisk", click "Select and patch a file", search for the boot.img file you created.
4. Now, Magisk will create a patched magic.img file from the boot.img file (can be called eg magic_patched-23000_xt8QR.img)
5. Copy the magisk_patched-xxxxxxx.img to your computer's "Root folder" where you have stored ADB files, etc
6. Now install the OOS 11.x.x.x zip file (should be in the mobile's Internal memory) via Settings> System> System updates and the "gear"> Local upgrade
7. When done, DO NOT reboot but go directly to Fastboot mode + connect cable to the computer
8. On the computer, type from your "Root folder":
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched-xxxxxxx.img
9. Reboot the phone - you are rooted!
