No little delay in screen locking after display off? - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I noticed the Mi 9 screen is locked immediately when the display turns off after the idle time. It's quite annoying.
Usually with other phones, the phone locking happens only after some delay, so when the display light is just shut off - I could knock to wake it up without the need of unlocking the phone again and again.
Do you know any solution or workaround?
Thanks,

There is no solution, as far as I know. Yeah, it's really annoying. "Just MIUI things" .

I mean, if it's the stable version, that's the main instigator. Global version is AIDS

Face unlock with raise to wake

Sometimes after the "raise to wake" happens that IR face unlock function remains off. So in these cases i need to use the fingerprint sensor.
I have all batteries save options off.
Any solutions?
Works fine for me.

Yeah it works, but sometimes has the behaviour written above
Face Unlock is working fine for me, never had any single issues with it. I'm always with Xiaomi.EU latest weekly releases.

Many problems with my Mi9

Hi I bought a Xiaomi Mi9 not even a month ago.
These days I found a really annoying problem, my Mi9 unlocks itself in my pocket. I state that I have done all the possible tests, that is with and without double tap, with and without unlocking via mi band4, with and without lifting option, password, fingerprint and face detection. Trying various combos (thinking that maybe some of them would conflict with each other) I arrive at the same conclusion. Start the emergency keypad on your own, or if I receive notifications it even opens me up or I find myself navigating through my apps.
This is the main problem.
I have found other problem, like if I talk at the phone, I put the auricle in the right ear, everything is ok, while if I move it in the left ear I no longer feel anything. (proximity sensor
defective ultrasonic?)
Another problem that perhaps seems to have solved was that of bluetooth devices, the saved devices menu was missing. With a reset I fixed the problem at the time.
The fingerprint detector every 10 attempts, 3-4 never go through if the screen is in total standby, while if you wake up the screen in any way and then use the fingerprint it always works.
The most important thing I would like to solve is that of unlocking in my pocket, it particularly bothers me. I read that in June they had to fix this option, optimize it, but apparently it doesn't seem improved. I know that here the pocket mode is automatically inserted compared to other devices. But apparently it doesn't work at all.
I have the device correctly updated.
Help me discover something more or at least solve this problem and sorry for my bad english i'm italian boy =P

Hi
Which firmware, rooted or unrooted?
I can recommend to root and use firmware of xiaomi.eu
If you have the latest firmware with pocket mode included your only two options to fix the pocket unlocking’s are: 1. Get at flip cover. 2. Delete all fingerprints and use another unlock option like face recognition or so. This will also get you noticeably better battery hours.
The speaker problem I think is a problem with the position. It is very critical that you put the tiny speaker hole exactly in front of your ear opening, a couple of millimetres aside will make the sound almost silent. This is if you by feel mean hear. Try to hold the phone at an angle out from you face with the upper part pointing to your ear and move the phone up and down to se if you can hear better.

Let me suggest a fix for the fingerprint issue.
Turn off the show "fingerprint on lockscreen option"
There really isn't a pocket mode for the mi9 because of the in-display fingerprint reader
About the "unlocking in your pocket" issue, I think you should try a different unlocked method, maybe a password to see if it's still there, and also ensure you don't have "On body detection" enabled in settings.
where did you buy it?

I don't meet any problem with GPS location before and after flash this firmware.
I just started experiencing a proximity sensor issue on MIUI 11, EU version 11.0.4.0
It occurred a few times after longer phone calls (more than 10 mins) when I removed the phone from my face, the screen would not light up. Neither the lock button nor the fingerprint sensor would wake it up, and I had to wait for the other person to hang up. Or maybe it only reacted to the lock button after 5 seconds or so.
I don't remember this happening previously. Is this something you guys have experienced?

I faced same problem and i never paid attention to it. Now and I'm reading your post, i come to realize that the redmi-note-7 has a sensor problem and i have a miui 11.0.4.0 global version
I have heard about other people having proximity sensor issues on earlier versions of MIUI, also different editions (China, Global, EU). I've even advised some of them to re-calibrate the sensor through the service menu. I've been using the phone for 9 months now, I believe. I've updated it regularly and never reset it to factory settings. If this keeps up, I'll try re-calibration. If it doesn't disappear with the calibration or the next MIUI update, only then I'll consider factory reset
Hello
How I have Redmi Note 9 Pro MIUI 11.0.4.0, how can I turn off the proximity sensor? I have the screen problem other people are mentioning above

Question AOD turns off after five minutes!

Hello guys
I come from a Pixel2XL where AOD stays always on the way it should be.
However, I don't know if it's a bug or the developers have forgot to keep 11Ultra AOD "always on" even when the option is selected in the settings for it to be, as it goes off just after few minutes!
Any idea what's the cause and is it happening for all devices (mine is GLOBAL variant)

I wouldn't sweat it as it sounds like a good feature. I use to always have AOD on but it got to be quit annoying for me after a year. It's set to tap on now.
100% availability means 100% no peace.
I got tired of playing the time game as well unless it's dinner

the only thing that was lovable about always on display was to check if I had any notifications to respond to without tapping the device

Hope some developer gets an eye on this as it's a very useful feature where you don't even have an AlwaysON notification LED!
You can set the rear display to be on all the time if you want to
Change the 30 second timeout to 30 million seconds....

Yes... however, unlike the main screen the Xiaomi developers haven't set the pixels to move slightly for the rear screen and that might cause a screen burn!

The time and date is always changing tho.... It should not be using the same pixels all the time
If I wanted to use the rear screen i wouldn't think twice but I don't like setting the phone face down anyway

Question Current usability of the xiomi 11t pro

Hey guys i was thinking of getting the 11t pro,and for a few reasons i can only go for a mi phone at the moment ( i actually am getting quite a large discount from mi store in India). So my question have most of the issues like the overheating been ironed out or are there still issues with it and what other minor/major issues are there with the phone cuz for some reasons finding issues with this phone seems quite difficult on YouTube or else where. And how is the display and have there been any cases of black crush issue on the display. Thank you
Got the phone in January and have no issues whatsoever. The last update we got and I have no more heating issue. Screen has never given a problem either.

I am glad to know that. Is there any other quirk to the phone? And I would also like to ask you is there an option to disable the 120watt charging and like limit it to like 60 or something?

That option only exists in xiaomi.eu rom, and it's an option to either turn on or off, you can't adjust the voltage, with stock rom then no. If you want slower charge just get a slower charger imo.

Do you game on your phone much? I'm thinking of picking up an 11t pro, and wondered what temps were like for gaming when playing something heavy like genshin or similar. I was wondering if lowering the graphics/screen rate would prevent the phone from overheating....?

Same all the reviews said there isn't overheating but there is heavy throttling. But those were from months ago hence i am not sure if that is still the case or they fixed the issues with a software update.
Amazing phone for the price but also annoying and bad. The screen is horrendous. Proximity sensor is the biggest let down of this phone. I'm constantly tapping the screen to wake the phone up. It's just not responsive to wake and also unusable while making a call. Every single app is pressed with your ear while making a call, then it becomes impossible to hang up or go back to phone dialer. This is a deal breaker for me, I would not recommend this phone. Running the latest global 13.0.4 MIUI.
At this moment I'm thinking of getting a 12 Pro but I'm afraid it might have the same issue due to virtual proximity sensor. Might need to go for a OnePlus 9 pro or 10 pro. But this phone needs to go cause the screen will drive you insane
