Questions about the anti rollback - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hello
I have the Mi9 T PRO running MIUI Global 10.3.1.0 stable (PFKEUXM).
I don't intent, and there is no reason, to mess with the different MIUI versions.
I am interested to root the phone or try a custom ROM.
My questions are :
1)If I unlock the bootloader only for root and then relock it, my phone will be bricked?
2)If I try a custom ROM and then relock the bootloader the phone will be bricked?
3)In a previous post is mentioned that if you downgrade from beta Q to stable P the phone will not be bricked. What about the anti roll protection?

Its EEA (EU) ROM
MIUI Global ROM PFKMIXM

You can re lock your bootloader wothout problem but only if your original rom. If you are on EU or EEA you can flash and lock BL.
The problem is only if you flash different rom and re lock bootloader

This applies for AOSP ROMs too, right?
AOSP+relock=brick ?
And something else.
TWRP+ROOT+stock MIUI, can I relock bootloader?

As far as I'm aware relocking the bootloader doesn't work using fastboot commands. I can't remember if it will brick the device if you try, so best not to try.
When using the Mi Flash Tool you can only lock the bootloader when flashing a fastboot ROM, so this will restore the phone to factory and you'll lose any custom ROM installed and any recovery and root installed.
Really it's only safe to lock the phone when staying on the original ROM of the phone.

Official Miui 9 stable after bootloader unlock

Hi . . . I am new in redmi 4 but i know all about roms flashing and unlocking bootloader because i am tried a lot of roms on my previous mobile . . I want to know is possible to flash official miui fastboot update after unlocking bootloader on redmi 4 ?? And after flashed fastboot update is bootloader will be locked again ??
Yeah, you can flash official miui with fastboot. MI flash app have an option to re-lock the bootloader or simply flash the rom without touch anything. You can see this option at the bottom right of the program
Also can happen that you flash the rom and accidentally lock the bootloader, because this option is marked by default. In this case you only need to unlock the bootloader again with Xiaomi's program, don't need to wait 72 hours. This already happened to me.
With locked bootloader I prefers xiaomitool for upgrading or downgrading any miui rom.
Use xiaomitool it is safest tool
Tnx for the replys i got it

It´s posible install xiaomi.eu rom with bootloader locked ?

Id like to know if i can install rom in a redmi 4x with bootloader locked (not official rom)

Phone will not allow you flash unofficial img when bootloader is locked. I dont think it will let you lock after flashing rom with unlocked bootloader. At least i cant manage to lock bootloader after debloating miui stable.
With locked bootloader only official update can be installed through the updater app and that to stable ROM.
You can relock bootloader again regardless if you use official MIUI beta or stable ROM.
You'll have to unlock bootloader in order to flash any other ROM let it be any ROM.

[Question] re-lock boot loader

Mi 9t Pro global Rom Miui 10, android 9.
will flash K20 Pro india ROM miui 11, Android 10 fastboot.
why all recommend keeping bootloader unlocked?
i don't want the hassle of banking apps and use Magisk. so what's the problem here of re-lock bootloader after flashing the new ROM?
technical details are most welcome.
Locking bootloader with a different ROM region installed will brick your device. Unbricking will require further wait for bootloader unlock time or you'll need EDL method which I'm not very aware of how it's done.

why locking bootloader with another region rom installed will brick my phone?
and what you mean by brick that it'll never boot?
i got below reply from reddit, what do you think about it??
You are flashing a different version of MIUI. It's not what a lot of people call a ROM (although you are technically correct) . It's not like if you flashed a third party ROM like Lineage or xiaomi.eu... You can relock the bootloader if you have an original xiaomi system and recovery and did not modify your bootloader through a rooting tool (such as having Magisk installed as they get installed and run through a procedure called k-exec that patches the bootloader instead of the system so the hack is unknown to the OS).
Bootloaders are locked to prevent tampering with such exploits. Magisk is not malware but malware and spying tools can be implemented in the same way.
When the bootloader is locked only a ROM and a recovery made by the company that makes the phone can run.

I am not sure about that now. But it bricks because that's how Xiaomi have put. I may be wrong but if many people are saying the same then there should be a reason.

With official ROM either Global MI, Global EEA or China, with Xiaomi MI Flahs tool you can block the bootloader without any problem.
If you do not usually change the rom, or to custom rom or recoverys custom, it is advisable to block it since you cannot download netflix from the play store and some bank applications mark errors. Otherwise you can unlock the bootloader.
The most important thing about keeping it unlocked is that you lose the equipment warranty.
And the benefit of having it unlocked is that you can change from rom or custom rom, and you don't have to wait for xiaomi time to unlock it again; but lose the warranty.
But you open custom possibilities.
thank you guys, but i really need to know what is exactly meant by hard brick?
is it not to boot again or what??

Hy!Are you sure that if I own an Chinese variant of k20 pro and if I relockmy bl I won´t brick my device by relocking it?I just unlocked it today and I plan to instal the EU rom and relock my bl.
Just to make it clear...
Chinese K20 Pro needs to have Stock Chinese rom if you want to relock the phone! Without Mods or anything. Just clean Chinese firmware!
The same for indian variant. Only indian firmware without mods.
Also for Mi 9T Pro! Stock rom without mods!
Even TWRP isn't allowed If you wanna relock the bootloader!
If you cross flash roms and relock the bootloader you will brick your device! Your phone won't boot! You will need to open the backcover and boot it into EDL mode and blablabla. There is a thread about that.

replace russian rom official with global rom official

i bought a mi 9 lite and it came with the russian rom.
I wanted to unlock the bootloader and install the official globlal ROM with mi flash. can i lock the bootloader again with me flash when i install an official global rom?
or
is there a guide to install a global rom without unlocking the bootloader? and without using tools?
You need to first unlock your bootloader in order to fastboot flash the global rom (using MiFlash). After that in the MiFlash tool there is an option to "Flash all and lock" which will lock your bootloader again. Unfortunately there is not a way of doing it to my knowledge without unlocking your bootloader.
Here's the official guide here: https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
Never, ever re-lock your bootloader as this will result in a hard brick that can only be resolved with EDL/authorized account!

Not to my knowledge. I have done it before with my device. Sure if you want to use custom roms/recoveries you will need to unlock your bootloader again which you can do if you are using an authorised account. However, if you are really worried about this happening, you might as well just keep your bootloader unlocked.
I bought a mi cc9 lite that came with a russian rom.
Before i could unlock my device, i was able to flash a global rom with a non official tool which name i can't remember.
Global rom was the only one i was able to flash. So yes it's possible.
ok
On which ROM and Device you CAN and CAN'T Lock Bootloader!

Question Lock bootloader after flashing Indonesia ROM?

I am using Redmi 9 Power. Global version.
I was wondering if I unlock it's bootloader, flash Indonesian ROM so I can use Mi Dialer, could I then relock the bootloader so Google Pay and other banking app work?
I understand that you can't relock the bootloader after flashing a custom ROM. So I guess my question is,
If I flash official Indonesian ROM, will it be considered stock ROM or custom? And could I relock the bootloader?
Can I do that using Mi Flash tool?
I don't know if it can be original or custom ROM if you flash it with official Indonesian ROM, but if you flash with Mi Flash, select "flash and lock", the bootloader will be locked

Stock Recovery will never allow custom ROMs to be flashed. Only Stock ROMs can be flashed using Stock Recovery.
