Buying from at&t

If I am reading everything correctly, the att version is xt1097 and has a locked bootloader. There is no way to unlock the bootloader and there is no root method for a moto x bought from att. Am I correct in this assumption? :crying:

Yes you are correct. The original Moto X (carrier locked) bootloaders can be unlocked using "Sunshine", there is a potential it will become available for the 2014 version in the future, but I don't think it will be anytime soon.
Secondly, there is no reason to get the AT&T version because rumor is Motorola is going to enable all the AT&T supported LTE bands in the Pure version: http://www.androidcentral.com/moto-x-pure-edition-xt1095-may-soon-get-more-lte-bands

[Q] Lollipop For AT&T Moto X 2014

Is there a way to force the update for android lollipop to the AT&T variant. I bought a AT&T Moto X used and got it carrier unlock. Is there any way to get AT&T to just let Motorola to update my phone it is basically not their locked phone any more. Is there a pure edition stock image that can work perfectly fine to flash on to my device and yes i seen the person who was able to flash the pure edition stock image but had to flash some extra stuff but is there another easier thing that works. AT&T should let people who unlock their phone decide if they get update or not. Thank guys.
No. You need to wait until it's pushed to your phone. The AT&T variant does not have an unlockable bootloader, ergo you are at their mercy for updates. You should have bought the Pure edition.

[Q] Flash another Stock ROM on Verizon Developer Edition Moto X (XT1060dev)

I am planning to buy a Moto X Developer Edition from Verizon (XT1060dev) and it's sim unlocked; in fact I have ordered one and waiting.
Can I flash Stock 4.4.4 or the latest 5.1 Moto ROM from any variant (be it XT1053) on to my XT1060dev. I am planning to unlock the boot loader. So I guess it's possible. Still, I need to confirm before going for it as I have seen many warning posts regarding downgrading etc.
Is it possible?

What are my options with a simfree, locked bootloader AT&T 1058 moto X?

I got a used sim-free AT&T moto x 1058 (2013) 1058. it has Android 4.4.4 and a 30.B7 (sha-bae5e20, 2014-6-23 18:44:49) locked bootloader.
I am not a AT&T user and don't like the fact that I have their bloatware on my phone and that I am totally depended on them to update my phone.
I went to Motorola official website to try and unlock my bootloader like I did in the past with devices I purchased directly from Motorola and got a massage saying "your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking"
So what are my options to unlock my bootloader?
As for your options with the locked bootloader, you have none, period. Nothing will unlock it because the AT&T variant is not one that's capable of being bootloader unlocked (a requirement set by AT&T afaik) with any bootloader other than the original one (30.07 iirc) and running a build before 4.4.
So, you have a Moto X that potentially could be carrier unlocked to use with another cellular provider but that is only possible if your IMEI doesn't start with 35321 because those apparently can't be without a lot of hassles if at all) but that's it.
I actually just got a Moto X from Motorola as a replacement exchange - it was Android 4.2.2 with bootloader B0.07 which was the original one and I could pretty much do anything with it I wanted but I wasn't going to pay the $25 for Sunshine (which would unlock the bootloader, tested and verified). I never really had intentions of keeping the Moto X anyway so I went ahead and did the updates which of course ruined that original pristine state.
Your option is to sell the XT1058 and buy a XT1053

XT1095 Bootloader Unlockable?

If I buy the XT1095 model is it guaranteed that Motorola will allow me to unlock the bootloader?
I know how to check once I buy the phone, but I don't know if I should buy it. There is no developer version for the Moto X 2014 as far as I can tell.
P.S. I just learned the hard way that the XT1097 (ATT) bootloader cannot be unlocked. Motorola won't unlock it. Third party tools (Kingroot + Sunshine) don't work with the August firmware update, and the phone cannot be downgraded to older stock firmware without an unlocked bootloader (from what I can tell).
If no, is there comparable device I should buy?
I buy before 4 mounths a xt 1097 ftpm china shop and everything was ok.
I unlock bootloader and everything is ok until now.
I dont know something else.
I have xt1095 and just unlocked the bootloader 3 days ago. So yeah
