Did I buy the right phone...n

I'm currently on a Samsung SIII with KitKat (omnirom), but because my daughter's phone broke down it's going to her after I get my new phone. I wanted to buy a Nexus 5, but it's sold out in the Netherlands even though it's € 400,- instead of € 350,- Because I was in a hurry I opted for an S4-active. I had some water damage with a HTC HD2 in the past and this one is probably better equipped in that respect. I already read enough to avoid putting it under water on purpose.
But...
I did get a bit of a scare when I looked for custom ROMs in this thread. Why are there so few options? Is this phone so different?
Maybe I should have waited a bit longer or even try to get a Nexus 5 from Germany.
Can someone give me an advice what to flash when my phone arrives? I don't like all the Samsung bloatware and don't mind to run cyanogenmod.

I find this phone to be an almost perfect match for me.
I don't take underwater photos, but I love watching online content while I take a bath. I would never do this with any other phone. It's decided to take a few dips in the tub with me, but just pulling it out and drying it off it doesn't miss a beat.
The lack of custom roms/kernals is a bit disappointing, but I find that with the safestrap and Google stock rom I'm able to reach an experience that I can enjoy.
The screen was a sell for me hands down. I hate the new pentile style screens that cause blurriness in the display. Despite many people telling me it's not humanly possible to tell on such a small screen. When I see a flat red/blue color on the normal S4 screen it looks absolutely disgusting (Think 540p resolution because of the 1:2 ratio of pentile to rgb)

You're talking about Google stock.. do you mean cyanogenmod?

The limited ROM development is quite disappointing but I think it's because the market that would've normally bought this device had already largely bought the s4.
I use the CyanogenMod ROM. It works quite well. The camera works but it's unstable. LTE is great .
I agree with Celeste, the display is amazingly good, especially considering it is LCD based. The phone is also the only device I know of that combines both the features of Exynos 5 (which features the BIG.little CPU design) and LTE in one package.

I don't use Cyanogen, just the Stock Google 4.2 Rom that's in one of the development threads.
I haven't seen any of the features of most customized roms to be appealing enough to me, and I'm always afraid the features will end up adding larger overhead to the system.
I really enjoy 60fps content whenever I'm playing around and the jitter that happens whenever other processes get in the way of displaying the next frame always seem to irk me a bit.

I'm actually about to sell my active to buy a nexus 5, due to the limited rom development. Just waiting for the 32Gb model to reach Sweden.
I've got the international version as well, and as you've noted we don't have much to choose from - safestrap won't work for us. I run cyanogenmod and it mostly works, has a few quirks particularly when it comes to the camera that has me rebooting now and then. I don't think anyone can answer if you bought the right phone or not, it really comes down to if you can live with one of the existing roms or not - because there isn't likely to ever be many roms to choose from. This phone just didn't get a breakthrough and there just isn't enough users out there to get the development really going. The hardware is good, the screen is phenomenal, but that's not all there is to a phone for me.
Try out the roms, and if they don't scratch your itch... sell it and get something else.

They could at least have given us the 32 MB model for that price.

2. How easy is it to unlock/flash new roms on this phone, since this will be my primary focus ?
3. How bad is touchscreen latency and camera performance with latest update ?
4. Should I be worried about bad after-sales here in UK ?
Please feel free to mention any other points about this phone that might help me in making my decision.

1. i had an OPO and i guess it not supported anymore, but i installed a custom ROM the first day i got it and custom ROM support is amazing, there is still a big community. Guess there wont be many other devices being better off.
2. couldnt be easier. All u need to do is just follow the instruction given for the ROM. Support in this forum is also given.
3. For me the latency is the same as it feels with my gf's pixel phone. Camera i cant say much cuz the only fotos i do is about documents and writings. But these are super easy to read. I have no idea thogh how beautiful pictures will get.

I came from the D855 (G3) was a huge step i was going to wait for SD835 smartphone but my phone died, so i wanted something super fast, and unlocked, when i mean unlocked is a company that gives you acess to the hardware this is bootloader unlock, as many companys do NOT, the phone is tremendous fast, fingerprinting in 0.2sec it opens before you blink, the screen looks way better than my G3 which was the first 2k screen, its vivid and bright, dash charging is awesome it charge your phone way to fast xD, its the first phone that i dont need to let it in charger over night, 3.4A battery is more than enought, 8h+ of SOT? i had at must 1.5 to 2h of sot on my D855, huge huge difference, for the moment this is by a large margin the best device you can buy, as for the cameras or any other features i dont care, they do the work just fine, i have a mirrorless camera for photography so i dont care about the camera, its still packs a 16MP on front camera which get you a very sharp face if you are a selfie person, anyother i just got this phone by its hardware, super fast and cheap for a flagship? i spent 439 + karbon case this phone worth every penny, so go for it it feels very nice in the hand, and the metal its of nice quality! it even comes with a screen protector by default thats a nice touch from them! oneplus is a great company you wont Regret it!

OnePlus does a decent job but don't expect Nexus-grade updates. You'll mostly be relying on the XDA community.

Very Easy. Unlock bootloader from bootloader menu, flash twrp via fastboot, flash a custom rom and that's it.
3. How bad is touchscreen latency and camera performance with latest update ?
Touchscreen latency was never THAT bad unless you're a pretentious user. You shouldn't worry this because most custom kernels improve it, and at some point it will be fixed completely by OnePlus. Camera is decent, the sensor is the same as the one in V20. It's the processing that sucks compared to other phones, so don't expect much.
4. Should I be worried about bad after-sales here in UK ?
Not sure what you mean. But i'm certain you will be satisfied of the phone for the price paid.

Note: I had the op3 and now i am using the op3t from dec.
1. Updates on the op are fairly quick, as of now we have an open beta for 7.1.1 with march security patch. We will be getting the full update sometime in this month.
2.This is where the op devices shine the most.The op community is great,you will get the community app installed on the device. you can find all required the guides for unlocking,roms and troubleshooting there.The op3t has support for all the popular custom roms so you can get the updates asap.
3.The touch latency issue is still there but it is not that bad.The camera is not bad at all.Its a great camera for the price and takes great pics in good light conditions but the low light photos are not that great.If you are a serious camera buff you might be disappointed.
4.After sales is bad here in India. Its handled by a company called servify. Had the op3 and i broke it in 3 weeks of purchase. I had got their one year "accidental damage protection" thingy so i went to the service center fairly optimistic . After looking at the phone they said "the back of your is damaged and we do not cover cosmetic parts under our insurance, we will fix the screen for free". I was angry but agreed to get it fixed any way. After that they say if you want to go through our insurance you have to open a claim via the op app,we cannot do it here. I returned home did what they said and after two days i got a call from some shady insurance company refusing my claim saying there is something wrong with my paperwork.Even after doing all the things they said they still refused it. But I loved my phone so tried to get it repaired any way. Here op3 costs 28k. After making a claim they told me i have to pay 12k for the screen,10k for the back and 1k for repair . Thats 23k,roughly 83% of what i paid for the phone in the first place.

One thing i am quite worried about is that like most companies the older models of OP have been not getting any updates from OP at all, e.g Android 7.0. Also custom ROM development on older models seems to be very slow and most major Dev have moved on to newer models unlike older Nexus which is still supported after all those years. I know I can get Nougat support via custom ROMs but support for old devices is one of the main things I am looking for, since I am planning to keep my phone for at least 2 years.
I think i am going to hold on to my G3 for a bit longer and see what other options are available later on during this year.

Edit: just look at the first OnePlus model and the 7.1.1 roms and kernels that are available and beeing actively supported, this is a 3 year old phone.
If you`re always looking for the next big thing or latest technology you can never ever buy a phone again. There will always be new devices that will be released throughout the year I ordered mine (coming from a iPhone 7 Plus) because i think and according to the reviews its a solid phone for a descent price.

Note 9 vs. S10+ which will last longer?

Which phone will be more long lasting in terms that it will not slow down after Android or Interface (Samsung Experience, One UI) upgrades?
I'm looking between these 2 phones for the one that will have a better CHANCE for lasting 5 years being as quick and as “battery life good” AS POSSIBLE.
I think all of us know that the OEMs make our phones slower by patches, upgrades with attached algorithms to slowly month after month (so we couldn’t notice) shorten the battery life, slower the speed and make battery consumption bigger with sole intention for us to buy a new model next year or in the next 2 years.
BTW I don’t need the Pen and I don’t play any games and I don’t need a super good cam. EDIT: no rooting and no custom romming for me on that device for ever.
If I don't need the Pen why to bother with Note you may ask?
Well, I hope that Note being the business phone is going to be treated better by Samsung in the above terms than a Galaxy S phone, but maybe it’s the other way around?

i'm using a Tab S 8.4 SM-T705 LTE as a daily driver it's coming up to 5 years, it's still going strong! im rooted modded my Tab S is an awesome bit of kit!
Both phones you have suggested, can easily last past 5 years so it's up to you what are you reqiuremnets do you need a S-PEN ? or you into photography then go for the S10+
i'm planning on keeping my Note 9 for next 5+ years! that's if samsung dont put a hole in the display, for the next Note lineup, if they do then this is my last Note from samsung i'm ever purchasing!
if you dont mind the hole punch in the display? Then go for the S10+ as that screen on the S10+ looks awesome! i find it much brighter then the Note 9! Also i doubt i'll ever upgrade my Note 9 to ONE UI PIE 9 it runs super smooth on Oreo 8.1 so i'm sorted for the next half decade!

1. As I said I don't need a S-Pen and I don't need a super good cam. So neither drawing nor photo making is my deal. I just want a super fast Samsung phone like these 2.
2. The screen od S10+ looks and feels in touch even absolutley awesome.
3. I'm happy to hear that someone is not laughing that a device would last 5 years..
4. I found out yesterday in shop that on stock rom (Oreo) Note 9 runs smooth but I fear that after upgrading to Pie+ One UI there's going to be at least micropauses, (it freezes for a second), lags, no smoothnes enymore like in S8 that recently upgraded from Oreo. All stock, no root, no custom.

2: That screen is awesome i had a play with one wow it’s really sharp and bright it's an beautiful AMOLED display SAMSUNG nailed the S10+ display!
3: Dude there's nothing wrong with having a half a decade old device! (Please ignore keyboard warriors! Oh no he’s keeping a device for 5 years lol) When people see video playing on my Tab S 8.4 it's so sharp and bright they are shocked how amazing it looks not bad for nearly a 5 year old device!
4: its early days for ONE UI PIE 9 as i did install it only played with it for 24/48 hours! Man they have taken so much away really feels childish! i think Samsung thinks if they copy Apple they will become even more successful stupid way Samsung is going!
5: See my 4th answer early days as i said before let ONE UI PIE 9 get ripe maybe in a few years i'll upgrade!

With all do respect it's harder to get hacked on 1) tablet 2) old 3) rooted and maybe custom romed 4) not so popular compared to the phones we're talking about
besides I think I wrote that I'm not going to root nor custom rom the device ever EDIT: I didn't, I'm sorry, I edited the OP.
1. I know how factinating the screen is but the longivity is my absolute target.

if i didn’t have the Note 9 i would have gone for the S10+ one thing i hate about these days smartphones batteries are not user removable! My Tab S 8.4 i could easily get 10+ hours out of it hard use!
Now i get around 3 or 4 hours that’s with just under 4000 chargers discharges!
So this time I’m not letting the note 9 drop below 20% and i try not to charge full 100% keep it at 80 or 90% i just want to see few years even 4 years down the road if the battery can give me a easily day use as it now!
Just be careful with battery charge discharges if you really want it to last 4/5 years!

I don't need to watch it. I compered these cams long time while being in a shop.
I don't care how great the winner is. The looser is still so good that I don't care about that.
And I said something about camera (read again please) for people not to try to suggest me getting a Xiaomi POCOPHONE F1 that has Snapdragon 845, from screens on the net it has a good camera and it costs 300 USD.

2: brilliant i only recently found out 20-80% battery theory!
3: That’s hard question wow I’m leaning towards the Note 9 due to Bluetooth S-Pen it's so cool and real handy in real world use! Plus Note feels more pro type of device! But after seeing the S10+ the other day! Sorry here I go again the screen i know i keep going on about the screen sorry i can’t get it out of my head it's so crisp bright! But the only true upper hand the S10+ has over the Note-9 is the camera setup and here i go again screen and off course the newer Exynos CPU!
4: i did go for the Galaxy S8+ on launch (waste of £870 as I didn’t use more than a handful of times. I swear I didn’t charge it no more than 50 times no lie over a year and some odd months I had the s8+) See all my life i kind of have been a Note user don’t get me wrong the Galaxy S8+ was a brilliant device but dam did I find it real boring! It like felt this phone is not for power users, it’s for the general folk!
i agree with you 100% Samsung Note user do have more respect than there Galaxy S users! Everyone knows! Samsung Galaxy Note Smartphones are for the power users and the business users!
You can truly run a company of the Note 9 it’s got so much power plus DEX plus Linux on DEX! Yeah I know you can get it on the Galaxy S range! But it feels more premium when it’s running on the Note sorry to sound geeky but you can’t mess with the Galaxy Note range as it’s in the league of its own!

4: i did go for the Galaxy S8+ on launch (waste of £870 as I didn’t use more than a handful of times. I swear I didn’t charge it no more than 50 times no lie over a year and some odd months I had the s8+) See all my life i kind of have been a Note user don’t get me wrong the Galaxy S8+ was a brilliant device but dam did I find it real boring! It like felt this phone is not for power users, it’s for the general folk!
i agree with you 100% Samsung Note user do have more respect than there Galaxy S users! Everyone knows! Samsung Galaxy Note Smartphones are for the power users and the business users!
You can truly run a company of the Note 9 it’s got so much power plus DEX plus Linux on DEX! Yeah I know you can get it on the Galaxy S range! But it feels more premium when it’s running on the Note sorry to sound geeky but you can’t mess with the Galaxy Note range as it’s in the league of its own!

You said a couple of things (you don't need a pen, for note in this case, and don't need super camera, S10 in this other case) that for me means that you don't really need both of them and for the pen, this was the real deal that made a note the most reliable respect to others in business terms in all the years since this solution was adopted to a phone / faphlet making it more nearly to laptops or desktops in its business functions.
In business terms, less bugs is the right solution and to have this situation, that means less firmware updates and not the opposite because when having a lot of updates, that means mostly correction of bugs and not only monthly security pacthes....for example, passing from oreo to Pie only when Pie gets to be solid rock is right for the note because it's intended for business uses but not for the S10 because it's intended for people who wants mostly a new OS for the new functions and don't mostly care of some secondary bugs knowing that there going away in the next releases so they can wait. Seams ridiculess, but believe me that there are a lot of people that wants the beta versions (full of the wrost bugs) because they can't wait for the stable versions coming out.
Saing this, the bugs that can afflict a phone after a major OS update is equel to every model so battery drains, freezes, slowing down situations and other things can or can't happen equally to all and mostley bepends on the modifications (new launchers, apps in conflict with the new OS, ecc) made to the phone before the upgrade that goes in conflict and even depends on cash /data conflicts and corruptions so that's the reason why when having problems, wipe cash or data of the single app or of the entire phone resolves.
For the phone itself, the note 9 is the only one having a revolutionary cooper pipe cooling system that makes cpu and gpu working cooler and faster (less autotrotheling for to much heating... in other words, less cpu gpu frequency drop downs for heating protection ) and makes all being more durable and only for this, the note is the best since now, even more then the S10, and this should be even the answer of the title of this thread.
On the other hand, the S10 is the new model and like for the coming out of all new models, it's going to have new hardware solutions so better cameras, stronger and faster cpu / gpu respect to the older models. Notoriously, the note series having same hardware of the S series so the note 9 is basicly an S9 with a better cooling system (the first time happening) , bigger battery and screen and also having a pen with correlated functions...so, definitely, the choise is yours and depends on what you need or want.

1. I don't need a pen cause I'm not an artist, drawer, graphics guy. I bought a Stylus for S8 and I enjoy it and use it 1/3 of the time. Maybe I get addicted to S-Pen like many people as I've heard.
2. I like smooth and fast responsive phones with super AMOLED and nice interface ..... etc. so S10+ vs. Note 9 stays on the battle field.
3. Do You think that upgrading S8 the first day Pie+OneUI came trough OTA and started lagging, 1-second freezing, not smoothing would never happen on the first day on Note9 and now after some time I could with no hesitation update Note9 and be sure that I will notice no drop in the 2. point areas?

So true! Once you see that screen on the S10+ man it's like a sledge hammer imprint on the brain! crazy how bright and really vivid + super sharp Samsung has pushed that oled panel to wow!
Yeah defo the Exynos in the S10+ is way better! Samsung is really pushing towards the AI side of things! I havent really read up on the 10nm vs 8nm will do sometime! Bixby they are pushing as there Ai, Bixby isn't that bad it comes pretty handy once you know the commands!
For Dex you need a USB-C - HDMI cable or you can purchase Clicky--> Samsung Multiport Adapter EE-P5000BBEGWW Also you will need a Bluetooth keyboard, and mouse, once all hooked up you got a full desktop experience!
Same with Linux witch can run in DEX so you got a full desktop O.S from your smartphone!
DEX is pretty polished off you can browse the web play games edit documents office etc. really you got a portable laptop in your pocket!

Yeah Dex first launched on the S8, S8+ it was a big deal for Samsung! They haven’t updated the page, it is compatible with the Note 9
I’m not sure if you can charger wireless, I do know it has inbuilt fan to keep your phone cool while in Dex mode... And it does charge the phone once docked!

Dude, one very important thing, a "expert" on the net and in real life calimed that:
- the DeX station for Note8 is exclusive in name and in destination
- the DeX for Galaxy S9 is exclusive in destination and name
So now let's focus is there a third type of Dex or a fourth and what it is name and what does it do and for which phone is it?

For 1. Pen is not mostly used for drawing reasons and normally it's used in many working fields and even in multy tasking environments and its the only way you can put an hand made signature in a document for example...
For 2. The response that you can have is mostley the same and if there's a difference, you will not be able to notice it if you don't put them both near to do the same things... So for me, this thing is worthless for deciding only if you consider it when phone is cold... Heat them by using them and, you can look if the note is faster because it's cooling system let's the cpu run on the same frequency as its cold...
For 3. The first version released of every OS is laggy whatever model you consider, Even for the note with Pie, then the other releases corrects buggs. Explained in my post why other things can happen and doesn't depend only for os having bugs by itself. OTA is the worst way for updating... better using a pc with smart switch or Odin.

Well, explaining some things could be to long so, for not going OT and for returning on the threads title and question, if the software is the same and offers same problematics , hardware is different and even if S10 has the most last hardware, the note has the most efficient cooling system ever made for a device and that makes more durability and also makes the device faster because not heating where others will causing, in the others, a decrease of cpu's frequency for overheating ... So, for me, note 9 is better.

In terms of business, the one thing Samsung takes seriously is Knox. This is irregardless of device.
Knox is what makes Samsung money once a device is sold to a business.
Want to build a custom APP using Samsung APIs or manage your Samsung device inventory, you have to pay Knox licensing fees.
One of the primary reasons you see security updates released for older devices is because multinational corporations and government outfits have thousands of Samsung devices in their possession. If we have a issue, we raise it with Samsung. They address it based on OUR severity versus THEIR OWN. If they don't, we go to the Carrier we purchased it from and apply pressure. Either way, internally or externally, the problem is addressed and the average consumer/enthusiast benefits.

Razer Phone 2 purchase advice: Razer Phone 2 in 300€ promo for a non-gamer

I'm a humble xda forums lurker. I've been resorting to xda forums for all sorts of helpful tips and advice for my devices. However this time, I must ask instead of googling xD.
I've been a long time Samsung user. First the S3, then the S7 and now ... Well that's my issue right now. I can't decide on my next device. Looking to upgrade from my S7 to a better device, even though the Galaxy S7 is still a respectably good device. I came across the big promo for Razer Phone 2 and I've become tempted to purchase it. I had never heard about a gaming smartphone nor am I a mobile gamer. I don't play mobile games at all and I don't plan to in the near future. I'm looking for a device for media consumption like Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime, podcast listening on commutes, ebook reading and overall as a sort of mobile, always with me, computer. As such, I value more good specs in terms of CPU, GPU, RAM, available storage (including expandable via microsd) than a camera phone which is what other competing phones tend to in terms of overall design. Despite being aware it is a smartphone "by gamers, for gamers", the special focus on specs not related to camera quality that the Razer Phone 2 seems to have is what made it more appealing to me than the competition, including the Oneplus 6T.
I have already purchased it within the promo available from Razer. However, I'm currently second-guessing my purchase, because I read a detailed review from gsmarena (Razer 2 Phone Review) that praises this phone, especially for the innovation it brings to the smartphone market, but made me wonder ... In their conclusion, they say "If you are simply looking for a great daily driver and simply stumbled here out of curiosity, our best advice is to keep looking. As a 2018 flagship Android smartphone, the Razer Phone 2 simply lags behind the competition in more than a few key aspects." Would you all agree with this assessment? For a non gamer even if a smartphone power user, another more well rounded device like the Oneplus 6T might be a more suitable purchase as a well-performing daily driver?

I'm not a big gamer, not in the slightest. I have used the OnePlus 6 T and saw dreadful battery drain! I previously had a Mate 10 Pro, fantastic battery, not the best performance.
Am I unhappy? No. Not in the slightest
Is this a good daily driver, yes.
I'm completely stock without root. The audio is incredible, battery life is great, and frankly I see no issues with the camera quality, but then again I am not expected DSLR quality from a phone like many other people.

This phone is perfect as a daily driver. Front facing speakers rock. Don't have any lag issues at all. Being in IT myself, I don't really game either, but it keeps up with how I multitask. My only negative is that the theme engine sucks, and can't use substratum yet. Otherwise, great Android experience being mostly stripped down.

This Phone is absolutely a monster, One PLus 6T is not near, for the price is a great deal!

It's a great phone and you can greatly appreciate the 120hz display outside of games, and if you run the screen at 90 hz and turn off the chroma logo it has fantastic battery life.

Btw, since I'm here how do you feel about outdoor use. I'm asking this, because in some reviews I read, it was mentioned that, despite the improvement in max brightness to its predecessor, Razer Phone 2 still is worse than competitors regarding use under direct sunlight. It's not decision-changing most likely, but I'd like to know what to expect.

In terms of brightness after the pie update I keep my phone at 10% brightness (auto disabled) for indoor use. In direct sun I push the slider to about 50% and the screen is perfectly viewable to me. The rare times I up the brightness to about 100% is when I have to have a barcode scanned off the device for in-store pickup orders.
The only thing that matters is that the device bright enough for your eyes if so and you like the rest of the device and get a good deal on it keep it.

Everything is perfect except the hearing issue. I owned 6T Pixel 3 XL Note 9 ane non is over hearting. I have to reduce the screen resolution to 1080 FullHD instead. It seems better but not the best among flagship categories.

The only time that I feel like the phone is hotter then it should be is if I have the chroma logo on all the time, but even that has stopped with Pie. Additionally if you do want to reduce your settings to help with it, changing the refresh rate to 90hz and completely turning off the chroma logo should be first before turning down your screen resolution. Also pay close attention to your battery life when it gets hot. If your battery life is very bad then you should be looking into what apps you have installed to see if any of them are constantly using a bunch of your battery. If none of these work, then you should really contact Razer about the problem.

I'm a big gamer, but I don't play mobile games. I love the high refresh rate and stock Android after coming from the Samsung S8. I really like the phone in general, my only complaint is the lack of LDAC which is noticeable with my headphones.

What is the best buy between Xperia Z3C, X C and XZ1 C?

I don't wanna buy again stuff before of 5 years and I hope it will get support for Android 10.
What is the best buy? All of these are in a range of 259 - 179 Euro. I saw that the Z3 C even if it is very old is the best in weight and measure which I was looking for, it also has not that privacy horror of digital reading and irid scan etc... which I despise.
Please can anyone help me especially in terms of Android upgrade as I can't last long with Android 6-7 nor 8 and also 9 won't be good enough for long I guess.
Tons of incompatibilities start to come out and I don't know also if the Z3C is ok to support a Android 10 with 2 Gb RAM and apps installed or if the same is true for the other 2 phones.
I know that Sony is not in good waters in terms of mobiles compartment... they might even close it... but the phones should stay good maybe for 5+ years, I guess. (?)

Obviously below is personal opinion, but here it is.
Xz1 if you could get it. But many versions of the phone sold on ebay are refurbished units sold as new. You can get Android 10 though. But do u really want a refurbished phone. Read the buyer reviews of the seller, there are negative reviews of purchases stated as new, but actually referb.
X compact you can get a real new unit for super cheap. Half the price of xz1c. It's specs, camera etc are good enough. Just it's latest Android is 8 officially, 9 with root.
For me, I would go with x compact. Because I want a truly new unit.
I won't choose z3, because it does not have USB c, and it's camera is slightly below average. It's a flat, dull camera. Admittedly it's size and software support is best, but USBc and can are deal braker for me in 2020.

Yes It's very hard to get it new. Thanks. I am going for the X Compact mostly probably. Infact an android 10 capable I can understand could last very very longer than a android 8 capable, maybe if I get the X Compact to 9 (I doubt it will) I will be able to keep it for 5 years at least. For me the consumerism, sorry is really a horrible sickness people have.

I hope i can get or the x1c or the x c, and also I dnt know what will be the result of the upgrade to 10 or to 9 respectively speaking. I heard it can lead to "breaking" also warming up etc.
Stuff my note 3 did constantly, also battery was dead in a few minutes, also changed batteries.. bah... I just know that they need to stay away from the sun, away from humidity, away from dust,.. just like pc, away from magnetic "storm" or sources... often stuff we criticize is caused by our use.
I also ignore if actually phones need to be kept between 15% and 80% always.. never allowing battery to go below. Only in the first day a super charge need to be given (keeping the phone for 24-48 h switched off and at 100 ...keeping on charging.

... Got it for 185 Euro.. no way to get it for lower price new...
Glad I can jump from 5.0.2 of my note 3 now broken to the 8... I hope i can also jump to 9, but I have no idea if this is doable without risking a lot...\ instability etc.

I didn't see this until now. X Compact is the right choice. I love the XZ1C - it has the best hardware, performance, and Android 10 support right now. But unfortunately not possible to have GCam HDR and raw image support on it, that's a deal breaker to me. Also, it's a lost more expensive than the XC currently.
I use the XC as my current device, it requires tweaking to set it up correctly but if you spend time testing, you can get a lot out of it.

Hey thanks, it's coming home, and I am thankful. I was a stupid to break the note 3. It's strange, now it seems to consume battery much slower then before... ok whatever. I use it like a music player now as I work in the outdoors or do sports alone these days.
I really hope the tweaking (If necessary - maybe the android 9 version might be needed in the future if not immediately) doesn't brick or damage it, it would be a horror (I know many do this when it's out of warranty (2 years would be since we are lucky in EU, much better treatment than US or other places) if it breaks.
I'd love to learn also and maybe be able to go back to 8th (to which supposedly it will update autonomously to) how one should do this updates and decide how or when it's the time to do that. Also my note was over heating .. some say that this happens when some app is spying etc... probably bugged by police or gangs. I dnt know, I know that we are all targets.
I just hope I can put a cover on the lenses (I used a idraulic tape on the note and the cover was doing the rest) I know how much privacy breaking those open lens can be. I dnt have nothing to hide, I am just aware how precious privacy is (so many aren't)... and it's not phobia. I just think all need to work and do their little to keep it good for all in the future.
