Any root methods for the Note 8 without compromise yet? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

So I want to root my Note 8 to use mods like Camera Mod or ProtoDeVNan0‘s dual speaker mod, but I don't want to have the compromises like the battery charging issue, samsung apps not working, etc. Has anyone made a new root method that doesn't have the compromises or at least not as bad?
Thanks!

1) SM-N950U1/U/W
Nope still the root method for only nougat with the 80% battery limit.
If you want something to read check out the safestrap note 8 thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development/root-t3942403
Recommended reading for the SM-N950U1/U/W snapdragons devices (in my opinion).
2) For SM-N9500 (China and Hong Kong) snapdragons

Samsung Note 8 ROOT on Snapdragon update?

I know there's a root method out already, but I prefer to hold off given the potential limitations (especially the battery 80% issue).
Based on your experience, do you think there will be a better root method coming out soon?
Thanks!

because it requires a unlocked bootloader, not a engineering bootloader.
If the S8\s8+ doesn't get it, we def ain't gonna get it for Snapdragon users.
One of the main reasons i went exynos

Are you asking if someone has a crystal ball and can tell you the future development of the phone? Maybe they can give me winning lottery ticket numbers.

What that means is no one has been able to find a workaround (engineering or otherwise) or not smart enough to figure it out yet and they're not clairvoyant enough to know if anyone can in the future. But I think it's a great question that I had actually been wondering myself.

Soon? absolutely not. I recommend backing up your stuff using samsung cloud and trying the root to see how it affects you. Exynos has a Unlocked BL HOWEVER it does not work on CDMA carriers.

thanks for all the responses. very much appreciated.
i'm on Tmobile, so maybe i should get the exynos version if that root works better?
also, which phone/brand is easy to root?

if you get exynos there's a chance you'll have the issue where you have to wait 7 days to unlock your bootloader, you can get the korean version which comes unlocked out of box.
If you're not looking to deal with this kind of risk then go for pixel line, one plus 5\5t when it comes out, not sure what else really, the essential phone should have unlocked bootloader and roms soon as they've promised to release the source code and image files.
I have Note 8 snapdragon SM-N9500 unlocked from Hong Kong and I need TWRP for root but it is not out yet for Snapdragon AGH! waiting.. till 2018

Any under BQJA...so the latest updates break root...
AQH7, AQH9, AQI5, AQI9, AQIA...that's about it
Here with the model N9500 you can unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP and root with magisk

I very much doubt it unless you want to mess up your Note 8! I have the N9500 too & don't intend to root ... I always rooted & used custom ROMs on my Note 4, 3 & 2!

Hi!
No problem! Just finish it.
SurroundShotFixerN950.zip
Do a backup from recovery and flash it!
If any issue :
SurroundShotFixerN950Uninstaller.zip
So wait, does this mean the surround shot option I have now on my N8 won't work properly when my Oreo update finally arrives?

Ok. You dont necessarly need root but at least TWRP to flash it..
Flashed it with twrp but it's not in the camera app. Exynos.
How about an APK for Note 8 Oreo for surround shot? Snapdragon - Verizon - Build number

I also have a Note8 and the Apk didn't work either. No planson rooting or flashing. I wonder if it had anything to do with the app biting into Gear 360 sales...

Stay on oreo for dual sim and sdcard.
No for NONROOT phones!
You'll have to root phone for that mod to work.
If that mod and to have an unrooted phone is important to you stay on oreo and wait for someone to find a work around.

is s20fe with snapdragon 865 4G (SM-G780G) rootable?

Is the snapdragon version rootable? Has anyone rooted their snapdragon version?
I don't have that version but the answers are yes and yes.
the method to root with just magisk is the same for all phones more or less, with TWRP you can follow the instructions for the 5G version and use the 5G TWRP.

i had read somewhere, it think it was the snapdragon 855 s10, that werent rootable. Are you %100 sure this s20fe with snapdragon is rootable? Also is it doable with magisk?
Qualcomm chips on Samsung phones sold in the US and Canada have locked bootloaders, since the 4G snapdragon isn't on-sale in North America you are going to be OK. I've spoken with 4G users who've rooted and there are threads and replies here you could've read that confirm all this.

thanks a lot for the clatification ive looked around a bit saying they were successful but they say like "ye i rooted my s20 fe" and it makes you doubt is he really talkin about the sdg? (even tho its under sdg thread)
Btw do you know if magisk works too?
yes magisk works, flashing via TWRP and then updating is the easiest way.

Hope, gona help people understand more, which model to go for, as usually Snapdragon are prefered, but dont go for US models...
