Fix ColorOS 6.0 Background Apps Killing and Bypass Startup Manager 5 Apps Limit - Realme X Guides, News, & Discussion

Requirements:
- ROOTED DEVICE
- Install any root file manager with text editor (I used ES File Explorer Pro)
- Install any system app disabler (I used Disable Application [ROOT])
Steps:
1. Open app Disable Application [ROOT] and disable the app Athena
(this will prevent your apps from force stopping when you clear them from the recent apps. *clear all button won't work, close apps by swiping)
2. Open ES File Explorer, give root permission and open /data/oppo/coloros/startup/bootwhitelist.txt with the text editor
3. Find the package names of the apps you want to run in background and add them at the bottom line of the list
(package names of apps can be easily found in the Disable Application [ROOT] app)
4. Then enter the Phone Manager app > Privacy Permissions > Startup Manager. You will see that the apps which you put on that list will appear as recommended to turn on.
5. Now you just enable those
That is all you have to do. Reboot if you want to, but it is not necessary.
ENJOY!

First flash your stock boot.img and reboot to twrp. Then flash Magisk 19.4 beta version. Magisk 19.3 stable doesn't work on Realme X.

Did it work? Were you able to root your phone?

tried it in realme 5 pro and it worked, thanks so much.

Does it work in Realme 3 as well? Also, is it safe to try this out? Just wondering coz I just bought my phone a few months ago.

It also works on Realme UI, thank you, it's very usefull

The easiest was to remove the background Apps Killing is by removing com.coloros.athena
You can remove it through ADB as well.

Thought I'd share how I upgraded my T-Mobile Galaxy S6 to Nougat (G920TUVU5FQE1 ) with root, deep sleep and SafetyNet bypass.
*** Read all step before starting as you will need to download and copy several files to your phone first ***

Download from Android File Host | Google Drive.
Reboot into Download Mode
Flash TWRP img.tar with Odin
Flash Magisk zip with TWRP and reboot to system
Install Magisk Manager (and enable Magisk Hide in Magisk Manager settings)
NOTE: The steps below will re-enable Deep Sleep
Install Flashify
Flash stock recovery.img with Flashify
Download from Android File Host | Google Drive.
Wipe cache (twice for good measure) and reboot
(Optional) Flash TWRP img using Flashify and reboot to system
Enjoy Nougat with root and SafetyNet bypass on your G920T! :good:

Do we not need to flash SuperSU prior to Magisk? I'm not too familiar with the process so I could be mistaken.

You don't have to, no. Magisk uses its own superuser called MagiskSU, which gets installed with the Magisk zip file.
It seems kinda... excessive to put TWRP on, then go back to the stock recovery, then back to TWRP again.. Is there a reason for this part?

Yeah, to fix deep sleep not working after the first TWRP flash.
Heres what I did lastnight.................I followed your setup. And then installed Noble Kernel set to permissive so i can run V4A. Well the kernel trips Safety Net and you get a continuous notification because of the permissive kernel. So I uninstalled magisk(I dont care for it till the dev keeps it updated for us). I then flashed Super SU 2.8+ through TWRP. Used @stangdriver44 V4A Aroma Installer. So you still get the security notification, I found that system app and froze it. No more annoying notification. This is where im at now. Stock Nougat Rooted w-SuperSU/Noble Kernel for Tmobile/Viper 4 Android. All working flawlessly. @The Sickness Are you gonna maybe try and get something going on nougat with that sickness. Maybe an S8 themed option. I bet between you and stangdriver44 it could be awesome. Because you know we probably wont get another Rom upgrade for the S6 after Nougat.

Everything was working fine last night, but I seem to have lost root during some point today. Magisk Manager still says that Magisk is installed, but that I am "not rooted." Any ideas? Should I try to reflash Magisk or will that trip SafetyNet?

[Pie] Magisk installs fine in TWRP but missing upon reboot

I suppose I'm missing something obvious, but I don't know what it is.
Unlocked bootloader, fresh install of Pie via unrooted Oreo 8.1 and official OTAs. Use fastboot to boot into latest TWRP (3.2.3-1) and install Magisk 18.0 via zip. Wipe cache, reboot. Magisk is missing from the app drawer.
Thoughts?

lol All good! Had me confused too when I initially flashed the zip and booted. Always refer to the Magisk thread.

7 Pro OB6 is out, uploaded ZIP on my google drive

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QkXY-SdEbkRRj8DXJL2btxLKXkN7fH6g
File is currently uploading (I made this thread in case someone is digging around.
I couldn't install it from TWRP for some reason, kept getting error 1. I went to the stock updater, picked "local install" with this zip file on the root of my storage, then it updated.
Right after updating, but prior to rebooting, I flashed the TWRP Installer as a Magisk Module, rebooted into recovery, and flashed Magisk in there.
I know you can flash Magisk right after an OTA then flash TWRP after it reboots, but if you called my luck bad, you'd be giving me too much credit.
Regardless, file is on it's way to the drive and I hope it was worth the time!
ready for download!
Thanks, I was testing.

True... It's not possible to install it via TWRP. Maybe it has something to do with Android sec. patch 2019.11.

The only ones that can be installed from TWRP are the ones from Oneplusfirmware webpage. The downloaded ones from Updater app are marked as OTA , thus can only be installed with official updater app due to verification keys and all the stuff.
I'm wondering if there is any advantage to installing the update twice, so that it's on both slots?
This Walkthrough works with me perfectly
Updating from open beta 5 to open Beta 6 successfully
Rooted 20.1 & Twrp 72 no issues
Thanks a lot
1- uninstall Magisk modules.
2- install Oos stable/open beta with Settings > Local upgrade . DON'T reboot! (Must be newer than actual Oos you have installed allready on the phone)
3- open Magisk > downloads. Install TWRP A/B Retention Script. DON'T reboot.
4- go back in Magisk. Touch install. Choose (Install to inactive slot after' OTA)
5- reboot to system.
I was on 10.0.2 stable with Magisk Canary, twrp 3.3.1-72

This works like a charm. Just did it to install it to the other slot being slot a. I'm ocd so I like both slots flashed. Easy solution to not being able to flash it in twrp. I'm kind of curious why it won't flash in twrp though. Maybe something to do with the security patch

Magisk v22.0 update confusion

So i was minding my own business then i notice "Magisk Manager" have red dot notification on it's icon upon opening there's update for "Magisk Manager" app and "Magisk" itself... so i decided to first Install the "Magisk Manager" update and it went real smooth
but when i try to update Magisk itsaid "Magisk Manager is Dead. Love live the Magisk app" then it ask me for Method
"Select and Patch file" or "Direct Install" now at this point idk what to do. I have at least done 3x Magisk update installation already it never ask me this option also when i try download root checker on playstore itsaid im rooted i just want to update Magisk should i patch my stock boot.img again or what??
For me this has been the case all this time for Magisk updates - I get that choice, and I choose 'direct install'. This time also I chose the same - 'direct install'. It got installed and prompted me to reboot.

I downloaded the apk from GitHub and installed it over the updated one. I was able to do a direct update. I was just suggesting it. Couldn't hurt to try it.

Same here. Worked on Xiaomi Note 10 Pro (Tucana) with Android 10.
Did not work on Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G (Monet) with Android 11. (The phone booted into fastboot-mode, so I had to extract the original boot.img from an original ROM and flashed it via fastboot-command to get the phone back booting to system).

Can you tell more? How did you extract the boot.img? Did you get it from the newest Android full OTA? DId it just straight up work after flashing the new boot.img? I'm asumming it was an unpatched one, right?

How do I flash a ROM from bootloader? I am on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (mido) and have the same issue. Device won't boot into anything except fastboot. I tried flashing recovery using fastboot flash recovery <reccovery>.img but it got stuck in bootloop again.

There isn't one, because there is no separate zip anymore:
https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/releases/22000.html
Why?
I'm so confused.
I'm on Lineageos 17 on Oneplus 6
I used to install magisk with the zip and it went smoothly now I don't have the option anymore..
How can you do when you use OTA update?

Sorry, I skipped that part and when directly to the one saying you had to patch BOOT.IMG..
Many thanks
Didgeridoohan;
I understand that the 'Manager' now has become the 'App'. I also understand to just rename the '.apk' file to '.zip' to flash from an OTA update event. I also understand that the '.apk' now with this latest release has everything you need to install Magisk.
I have had Magisk already installed like this: https://ibb.co/gvPzDs7
So, after I updated, can I ask what do I do about the problem of 'update' indicating via the Magisk Home page on the App?
I mean now I have this: https://ibb.co/HXLCvLS
Just don't worry about it?
Thank-you for your help.

Magisk still consists of two parts, Magisk app and Magisk internals, they're now just distributed together.
What your screenshot shows is that you've now updated the app, but not yet the internals...
Do not update simply as the update is Device bricking.
Magisk 22.0 update killed phone will only boot into fastboot
Have never had an issue went to update to latest Magisk app, followed directions and restored it first, everything seemed fine, then went to flash Magisk itself from the app (Direct install) like always, didn't seem to do anything, checked the...

I updated my magisk to version 22, and it looks ok, except for the bottom menu that disappeared, does anyone know where it went or is it a bug?
