AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Android Lollipop, the ROM has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LOS) we became LineageOS based with some tweaks from AOSP and we are now based on the "Ground Zero Open Source Project" (GZOSP) for Android Pie.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or the GZOSP team, if it concerns their code base. This ROM isn't GZOSP supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.
*

FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP. Custom ROMs modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROMs. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot" as the destination, then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash and reboot afterwards.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. I keep losing root with Magisk, how do I fix it?
A. Check this out. If that doesn't work for you, ask for help in this thread, read or ask in the Magisk thread on XDA or just re-flash Magisk!
Q. I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
A. Read this
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.)
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Pie. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
6. Reboot and set up your device, enable developer settings and in them OEM unlock/Advanced reboot/USB tethering.
7. Reboot back into TWRP recovery.
8. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
9. Reboot your device.
The procedure might vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every OTA update (= ROM Update)
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 17.2 doesn't usually require to be flashed on every dirty flash. Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time. Unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine.

Clean flash recommended.
Only one good kernel available for our device which is HardRock kernel.

I would like to try this ROM. I'm on Orange Fox recovery, is that ok?

orange fox 10 is ok

Just flashed. So far, so good. First observation: if dualsim, on lockscreen only one provider shown. Not such a big deal, but on Superior both of them are shown.

So funny how this device got upgrate on camera with pixel 4apk plus AICP ROm
(Night night)

The best ROM so far, its my first day using it but i think its even better than Havoc.
I clean flashed it with aroma gapps, and everything looks perfect so far.
There is a bug with slim recent, when i try to switch to last app quickly, it happens mostly when app side bar is enabled.
Many thanks to everyone who are participating in developing this rom, and to everyone contributing to our Mi Max 2 phone development.

error 7

I also use orangefox 10 but had no problems. Everything went as it should do. Check the ROM file. Maybe you need to download it again. It took me more than one hour to download.

Using it for one day now and it's amazing, only the both cameras don't work I don't know how to make any of them work. Please help

KNOWN ISSUES
1) Google camera doesn't save 30fps videos. Use Snap camera, or record 60fps with Google camera.
2) On all LOS-based ROMs, while the Pixels are recognized as Pixel devices in Photos and it says you have unlimited storage, apparently backing up photos DOES take away from your Drive storage allocation. All I can say is that this is being looked into, but no solution has been found to date.
Aside from that, as far as I can tell there are no longer any bugs! Please report any that you run into, assuming you have tested on a clean install. :good:
Don't expect any support if you:
- are not running the included kernel
- have installed any mods such as Xposed!
- have modified system files

OK folks, by request, here is crDroid for sailfish! It has been installed and seems to work fine; flash away.
Root / Passing SafetyNet Notes
Passing SafetyNet and/or playing PokemonGO with LOS su
This is a note to folks who play (or like me have kid(s) that play) PokemonGO (PoGo) on their devices. Since root is built-in, by default SafetyNet won't pass with crDroid, hence no PoGo. As an added bonus, since the kernel we use on this build is SELinux Enforcing, this will also allow crDroid install to completely pass SafetyNet!
All you have to do is boot to recovery and flash the unsu-los-pixel.zip.
If you want root back, it's as easy as flashing restoresu-los-pixel.zip.
Download both files from AFH here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=158048
SEE IMPORTANT NOTES BELOW!
Note 1) Through no intentional act of my own, this will sometimes trigger TWRP to boot to the wrong slot. If your phone doesn't boot, or boots back to recovery, just go to the Reboot menu, select the opposite slot and reboot system.
Note 2) This will -only- work on the Pixel & the Pixel XL. Pixels are weird and nest parts of the /system/ directory in /system/system/, hence the need for me to make these for Pixels only.
Note 3) I have tested this on crDroid, but in theory it will work on any LOS-based ROM, becuase they all should implement built-in root the same way.
What flashing this actually does
What this mod does could not be any easier. The un-root script takes the two su files required for root - in /system/system/bin/ and /system/system/xbin/ - and renames them to "s_u". The restore root script renames both files back to "su". That's it. You can do this manually by mounting system and using the file explorer in TWRP, but that takes an annoyingly long time relative to just flashing these.
We actually have a developer, @bhb27 , on the crDroid team that has an app that allows you to pass SafetyNet, but we are having trouble actively mounting system while the phone is booted. If we get that sorted, this won't be necessary, but in the mean time this is the quickest way I can come up with.[/hide]

To use Magisk, just flash the remove SU file above, then flash Magisk. Magisk info below.

Arise? I'm guessing typo.
I use Magisk, Arise (with only base+Viper4ARISE+ice Sound) and the Magisk compatibility module and it works great.
See post 3 regarding Magisk.
Awesome, thanks.
crDroid v3.3 is Up!
crDroid v3.3 for Pixel XL (marlin) is live and ready to go! Per our dev, neobuddy89:
v3.3 release will roll out this week. In span of last two-three weeks, we noticed two naughty teams forked our repos directly and branded it as their own work. We do respect open-source but not stealing and rebranding/renaming. Yes, we used parts from other major ROMs with credits while starting ourselves from the scratch - that's how open source should be (and not mere renaming of ROM.) This is message for those who tried to sabotage our work: we invite you to contribute directly to our code base or support us with your resources to build / translate / fix device specific bugs. Together, we can achieve even more heights.
Changelog:
* Donate link under crDroid About (paypal.me/crdroidandroid). Help our team to provide builds faster! <3
* Optional battery info on lock screen while charging
* Optional locking tasks in AOSP recents view
* Weather provider default set to Yahoo.
* New optimized libraries: libpng, ImageMagick, bash, jemalloc and few more.
* Updated substratum resources to date.
* Fixed black of right icon on lock screen
* Jelly (Browser) homepage default set to google.
* Demo mode is back in Settings (For app devs)
* Bug fixes and improvements from google and LOS.
Official devices with v3.0 or later should get OTA notification when build is ready.
Remember, roll out for most devices will happen this week not immediately. Builds needs to be thoroughly tested on device before release to squash common bugs, if any.
Some known common issues:
* Ambient display brightness manual override may not work for all devices. We are working on this.
* Live display tile can crash on boot for few devices. We need LOS to provide proper update since it has major dependencies in framework and CMSDK.
* Any other issue will be device-specific - so check with your device maintainer / LOS team.
Cheers! Have a great day.

Changes specific to our device:
* You need the N2G47O vendor image - DOWNLOAD HERE
The LOS Google Camera bug is still present (where it crashes trying to save 30 FPS videos; 60 FPS works fine) and will be until LOS fixes it. Photos are as they should be.
Gapps still have to be included for now. Required updates should be few.
As always, download link & instructions are in the OP. Dirty flash should be fine, but remember to always clean flash before reporting any problems. Enjoy!

No. Gapps have to be included or full resolution photo backup and ok Google won't work. Probably other things too, but those two come to mind.
Yes I know but I am using no Google stuff. Currently using OctOS and it's great but I thought i ask to try another rom.

A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android.
- Backup your personal data (Important)
- Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
- Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
- Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
- Flash the ROM + Gapps Zipfile.
- Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
- Reboot your device.
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every update (= ROM Update)
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine

Well, I will report the problems I had here with the ROM:
WIFI and 4G do not work, as soon as you finish installing the GAPPS the ROM starts but the message appears that Google stopped working, then when you install it without the GAPPS it works but without WIFI and 4G, I hope they get it put in good condition, the project seems very good and very well done, thanks to the developers for trying to bring hi Android pie to us !!!!
Sorry for my bad English. :crying::crying:

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
Include your OOS base versions in reports. (Eg: 9.0.0, OB7, 9.0.2, etc.)
If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

Q: What OOS Base firmware do I use?
A: Anything above OOS 9.0 should work fine, i recommend being on the stable OOS builds but the Beta OOS updates should work fine too
Q: I'm having high idle drain, please fix.
A: I'll need more data from you to figure it out, Install BetterBatteryStats and let me know about what it tells you after 3-4 charge cycles. Please do not report issues when having apps like Greenify, Naptime, Wakelock blocker etc.
Q: The vibration sliders aren't taking into effect, they are the same value as they were before increasing/decreasing
A: They aren't the same value. The vibration tested during sliding the slider doesnt reflect the actual value, you can experience the actual value during an incoming call/notification/system vibration.
Q: Does Android Auto and Google Pay work?
A: I've had several users report that Android Auto works!
Google Pay is now 100% working from 20180127.
NOTE: I can't test both of these but i trust my users and testers
Q: My phone is stuck on the "Bootloader is unlocked" warning page, why isn't my system booting?
A: Since there are a bunch of scripts being executed when the device is sent a power on signal, it might take some time to boot. Don't panic, your system will boot fine after some time.
Q: When I'm updating via OTA in the Updater, do I have to reflash GApps and Magisk? Will TWRP stay after I update?
A: When updating via OTA, GApps and Magisk will remain intact. Have a look in /system/addon.d/. Anything that is present inside that folder will stay after the update.
TWRP will not stay since A/B devices don't have a recovery partition for it to actually stay. You will be reverted to the stock recovery.
Awesome man!

So you mentioned in bold NOT to wipe system. Wouldn't that cause a dirty flash leaving bits of OOS installed? I'm new to A/B devices and how roms work, so forgive my lack of expertise here.

All went well while flashing. After flashing the ROM and wiping cache and data, and then TWRP installer and rebooting to TWRP, my filenames were then all scrambled, and I can't figure out where Magisk and gapps are located. I think it has something to do with encryption. I swiped to allow modifications. Thanks in advance
so i flashed the rom and everything is looking great, but the camera app is not working for some reason? every time i open the camera it just crash. any way to fix that? thanks.

my buddy is having the same issue flashing another rom...
we tried everything we could think of but it might be best to just hold off until official twrp is released.

Had the same issues with TWRP, even after fastbooting TWRP. Also, the same issue as with the Pixel Experience rom that is floating around...VoLTE at least for Verizon is not working.
Well making calls with this rom doesn't work. I can not hear the caller and he cannot hear me. I tried with the stock dialer and Google dialer.

A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's.

I would recommend PixysOS for clean experience, BootleggersROM has customization but it also has very nice themes and other features to make the UI beautiful. SuperiorOS is one of my and users favorite, it has customization (a bit more than BTLG in my opinion). MSM Xtended has the most heavy customization from the ROMs I maintain and some users really like that. You can choose the one you want depending on your needs but all of my ROMs are pretty good and don't have any serious bugs (only Wifi problem when phone is locked, but that happens in every Pie ROM AFAIK)

Magisk versions higher than 17.1 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine
ROM: DOWNLOAD HERE
Change Menu button with Recent Apps Fix (OPTIONAL)
GApps:
OpenGApps

Yes I guess there is.
In the meantime, I've read some feedback from other phone owners, who use PixysOS ROM, and it turns out that this is a very, VERY minimalistic ROM, with very few things to customize. Well, it's not a big problem, I'm just missing a few things to customize, that I've used in other ROMs. I'm gonna test it for a few more days. So far, this ROM is stable and fast.
TWRP 3.3.0-0 i9300
Format data & advanced wipe
PixysOS-1.0-20190623-UNOFFICIAL-i9300
AEX-8.1-RecentApps-Fix
Open_gapps-arm-8.1-pico-20190706
I've installed 20 apps.
Usage: Internet only.
First impressions, after couple of days:
It's a very minimalistic ROM, with very few customization options (which could be a good thing, depends on the individual's preferences). Privacy and security settings are absolutely basic (e.g., you cannot set which installed apps run in the background or run with the system startup etc., I miss that cool LOS panel). There is no way to remap hardware buttons (and you can't wake up the phone by home button). Some customization options known from other Oreo (and even Nougat) are almost non-existent, for example status bar, main screen has also very few settings, no LiveDisplay, no system profiles, alarm is not functional (looks like a bug) etc., that's not a problem for people who don't need it. The GPS sometimes is pretty lazy, but eventually it works somehow. Battery operating time is... acceptable, I thought that despite all this minimization, it would be better, with moderate use, battery lasts one full day, which I don't think should be a problem (and fortunately I didn't discover any suspicious battery drain during sleep mode). Oh, and unfortunately the security updates are almost a year old! (September 2018), so apparently this is the final version of this ROM.
This Oreo ROM is quite fast and stable (for me). Every other Oreo for S3 GT-I9300 I've tested, had noticeable performance and stability issues, but this one is kinda different. RAM management is OK. Stability was also OK, no sudden freezes, reboots, no overheating etc., I had only one problem - sometimes I experienced the same thing as with other Oreo ROMs - slight performance drop (I don't know why), and the phone had to be restarted, it happened every 2-3 days, so it's not a big deal I guess, I tried to install "android_lowram_enabler" (aka GO mode), but I'm getting "error 4". Also, just like with other Oreo ROMs, I had weird issue with Instagram, some videos in stories didn't play and live stream doesn't always work as it should (no such problems in Nougat).
Overall, for me, this ROM behaving quite stable so far, I'm also surprised at how fast it works. It's rather good for daily use. But LineageOS 14.1 is still better for me.
