Best rom for Galaxy note 5 - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, note 5 community . i wanted to ask a thing or two that why it's so hard to port a pixel or lineage os into our notes 5 and why only At&t variant are unrootable to this day but but there is some hope . and if anyone is using oreo rom or one u.i rom have you guys tired Gcam the pixel 3 mod version ? plus why our Gcam is stuck at 8.0mp instead of 12 or 13 maybe ? i'm using the stock rom with Gcam(pixel 2 config) which makes the a camera an absolute beast picture taking machine it's just it falls in night time cuz of that 8.0mp resolution limit.

Is it possible to port HDR 10 in Mi 5

Hello guys,
I am using Mi 5 for almost one and half year and using custom rom for 1 year.
Because of the beast,Snapdragon 820,I have got almost every exclusive features of android.
But one things it still lacks. No,it is not the trending 18:9 aspect ratio display. It is the HDR compatibility.
Mi 5 has a brilliant display.Has a good SoC.And as I know,HDR 10 is an open source product.
Can anybody make to port HDR 10 in Mi 5?
Or is it possible?

Best stable rom currently?

Hey guys i want to know if anyone can guide or suggest best working rom other then ofcourse mi rom . I have tried evolution rom and pixel experience rom. Evolution was working great, only issue is screen dead randomly. While pixel experience is strange , screen lag, front camera pop issues .
So if you guys happy with one rom, ticks all bars. Would be great.
I've planned to buy this phone, but I kinda disappointed about custom roms development. there is no stable PIE yet when ppl expecting android 10 already. This is not a "Top Seller" phone deserves ...
It's still only a mere few months since it launched. It'll take some time for more development to pop-up. AFAIK most of the devs are holding back until sources for android 10 are released completely.
Compared to devices like Poco F1 this one didn't get extra promotion especially on xda (like how the F1 got distributed to top devs just like the RN8Pro now for seeding development), also probably has lesser sales in comparison .. so it'll just take a bit more time and should soon speed up in light of the stable android 10 based updates.

My k20 pro is on way to me, and i think people should be more patient, its new device, to make a good stable rom you have to work for months on it. This device will definitely got support for many years.

Agree, but OP7 Pro and K20 Pro released at the same time, almost same devices and challenges like FOD, Pop-up camera and etc. Also OP7 Pro got official custom roms too rather than unofficial ones. kinda jealous ...
There's no stable alternative to the miui 10 rom. Even miui 11 is quite buggy.
I've tried all of the roms on here. They each have their quirks and bugs. After trying aosp gestures, miui 11 is leagues ahead too. That's another thing to consider.

The fan following & 'professional reviewers' following of One Plus is much larger than that of Redmi.
It's almost like they consider themselves the Apple of Android thus sometimes the mad, blind hype to get the latest one == larger dev interest.
Jealousy is totally normal, even I felt the same when there was so much interest in poco f1 & kernel development by several elite devs & also the time when I'd a SD821 Mi Note 2 but Pixel had a more highly thriving community but nevertheless good things like roms & kernels started coming out in about 9-10 months & still decent today..
If the hardware is strong, the device sources made available asap after official releases then we'll have development for quite a long time! :highfive:

All I hear in this forum is "mimimimimi"... What's wrong with this community? Be patient please!
The Mi 9T pro / K20 pro is a great device considering the price of $ 370.
+ 4000mAh battery
+ No notch
+ Amoled screen
+ Quick charge 27 W
- But I dislike miui in every single way
On the other hand, I think about oneplus 7 considering the price of $ 400:
+ Dual speakers
+ Amoled screen
+ Main camera with OIS
++ Oxygen OS (like vanilla android)
- 3700 mAh
- only in black color for this price
- screen with notch
In my opinion, I decided to wait a little longer while I follow the development of custom roms.

Question Status of Custom ROMS for Note 10 Pro? - Upgrade Advise Needed

I'm looking to upgrade to the Note 10 Pro from my Note 8 Pro.
One of the main reasons why i don't like running a custom ROM in my Begonia (Note 8 Pro) is the fact that i loose a bunch of Camera features and even the ability to use the macro lens.
The devs in the Begonia thread and us Beta testers have risked our devices and had spent an unreasonable amount of time on getting custom ROM's running and to make much of the features functional in that device. But i know since this one has a Snapdragon processor, much of the resources needed to port features from other devices to this is already there.
I know the advantages of running a custom ROM. But i would like it if someone explains to me what device-specific OEM features that you are not able to use once you flash a custom ROM in the Note 10 Pro?
Appreciate the feedback!
1) cRDroid (has Mi CAM too)
2) ArrowOS
3) DroidOnTime
what device-specific OEM features that you are not able to use once you flash a custom ROM in the Note 10 Pro?
Not sure, don't use too many frills that it has. For 1, I think the IR blaster might not work. Not sure though.

Don't take adventure on your ass.
Indonesia ROM and you will be happy.
In terms of speed, smoothness and lack of problems, nothing beats this firmware.
And the camera is pretty good. Well, if it is infused correctly.
Good luck.
This is my first MIUI based phone and I bought it as a secondary device to only to flash a custom ROM.
I tried the latest Pixel Experience Plus (Aug 22 initial OSS build) and it I couldn't be happier (Well, maybe a bit if I could get a 108MP mode in GCam). The performance and battery life are fantastic. Not crash or moments of lag, stutters. So snappy, way better than MIUI.
GCam is working for Regular 12MP, wide angle, tele macro and portrait. The night shots are better than on stock. In case you need a 108MP mode, there is ANX camera. The quality might not match the stock 108MP, but it's a usable option. The selfies are also bright unlike GCam, though GCam has way more detail in the selfies than ANX or even stock.
I'm going to test Crdoid or dotOS soon to see what a degoogled experience is like, but I reckon it is going to be similar to PE+. PE+ has set a benchmark for me.
Also, a couple of bugs I've noticed on PE+ which might or might not stay with other ROMs is:
1. Auto brightness is a bit off and goes lower or higher than it should at times.
2. The front cam was crashing when I turned on face unlock. But because I prefer the fingerprint scanner, turned it off and no issues since then.
3. Features like AOD and Pocket mode have been known to be battery hogs, but I don't use them anyway.

Give you some information. Xiaomi released A11 kernel for begonia a few days and camera problems (maybe) can be fixed, wait for next custom rom A11 based before get new rmn10p.
And custom use ANX and Gcam, some problems maybe same with other device not only rmn8p.

Right now I'm testing few different Camera apps, ANXCamera + many differenet GCam MODS.
I'm looking for the best GCam MOD ... I think that I have found it!
The ANX Camera quality is the same as the stock MIUI camera ... have made a lot of test of both and have to say that ANX isn't bad at all!
You can see all my test and findings in this GCam Mods for Redmi Note 10 Pro tread here.

Thank you, i will try
I decided to buy the phone and see after reading all your thoughts. I specially want to see if the high refresh rate works well with an AOSP ROM too because that's one of the main parts of the phone that i want to take advantage of. And I would be happy as @dnana9 mentioned if there's options for me to take advantage of all the lenses. Lets see how it goes.
You won't regret it. I have been hopping from stock to Pixel Experience to Xiaomi.EU to AOSP Extended, and every ROM has minor quirks, but overall better than stock MIUI. And beteeen the 5-10 options you have, you should find the sweet spot.

Haven't tested other AOSP ROMs than the AOSP Extended but have tested few MIUI based one and have to say that AOSP Extended is super truper fast!
I'm using the same ROM on my other phone Redmi Note 7 and the ROM there is also so fast and smooth as a pretty new car from Tesla ...

Hello all, I am new here looking for some advice and help

I have a redmi note 4 indian version with the normal miui rom(Nougat 7.1). Recently I noticed some apps in playstore are not available for my device(Ex. Amazon) saying my device is incompatible. So, looking to install android 11 custom rom(probably lineage os) which works for day to day usage(including normal bank apps and etc).
I once rooted my old samsung phone but that was 8 years ago I guess, so lot has changed. Wish me all the best. Hoping to learn new stuff here and install a custom rom in my phone.

Question A few questions about PixelExpierence on Redmi Note 10S

Hello guys,
i am probably getting a new phone soon, which is the redmi note 10S. The thing is, that i am a custom rom fan, which means that i will install PixelExpierence on it. I have a few questions:
1. How long does the battery last?
2. Is the phone overheating when idle/playing games.
3. How are framerates?
4. Does the phone have a A or A/B Slot?
5. Is system updates using a lot of mobile data in the background (On the A32 i have, i had to root the phone to edit the hosts file so that the system updates app doesnt take up 3GB in a week *also using pixelexpierence here* )
6. Is the camera quality better than on the stock rom?
7. Does the lock/unlocked icon overlap the text underneath on the lock screen (visible when charging)
8. Does the fingerprint sensor work?
Thx in advance
1.The battery is around 2 to 3 days with normal use and drop to 1 day if you play games.
It recharge really fast tho
2.When playing games sometimes yea but im never going above 45 degrees
3.Depends on what games.
4. idk didnt checked
5. I never saw any mobile data suage for that
6. stock quality is 64mp
7. good question
8. Its on the power button, its pretty sensible however it gonna work well if you hands are a bit wet
4. Does the phone have a A or A/B Slot?
A/B slots and Can Switch between 'em with TWRP.
6. Is the camera quality better than on the stock rom?
Not in m'y understanding, and camera app IS lacking params.
8. Does the fingerprint sensor work?
Yep
Extra: does fast charge works actually on PE rom, no.

Thanks bro, you saved me. I cannot buy a device that has buggy or low development, and that info is crucial to many. It seems that Mediatek won't release source code to the mass public.
One question, if you have time to answer: Is development on Note 10 as good as it is on Note 10 Pro?

The 10s seem to have significantly better battery.
GSIs are probably the future.
@Surpalsingh @tutibreaker
You don't agree that we have a lot more devices being made today than 5-10 years ago? Obviously only very few have custom ROM development. The answer to cover all? GSI.
