Mi A2 Oreo rooting question. Please take a look!! - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

I have been searching all over the forum but couldn't find. Can anyone tell me if i can use fastboot unlock critical after flashing patched boot.img . I didn't knew about this unlock critical. I followed the method till boot.img after which i was warned here that i cant go back to stock in case of issue and also can i reflash the patched boot image again to get temporary root access? Or should i flash magisk manually from twrp

Manually flashing 6.0, will this approach still work?

To start: 5.1.1 (LMY48M), rooted, with TWRP for recovery
For every 5.x update so far, this has been my procedure using fastboot:
Flash boot.img
Flash radio.img
Flash system.img
After successfully updated, I'd use WugFresh's Nexus toolkit to root and flash TWRP.
I'm a fan of not needing to flash userdata.img, as I don't think that should be necessary given that the OTA wouldn't wipe installed apps and such.
I've read other threads about using fastboot to upgrade and am concerned about the boot warnings, which seem to require a custom kernel to circumvent. My question is: will the above approach still work? Do I need to flash any other files? If I need to flash a custom kernel, where do I get it, how do I flash it (is it just a custom boot.img?), and at which point in the flash sequence should I apply it?
Secondly, has anyone tried gaining root through the Nexus toolkit once upgraded to 6.0?
I'm looking for recommendations so I don't spend hours trying to unbrick my device. Thanks!
You'll also want to flash the 6.0 bootloader and why are you using the toolkit to flash twrp when you can flash it in fastboot along with the rest of the files?
Ah OK, I'll flash the bootloader image as well. Anything else to be concerned with? The toolkit has a feature to root + flash twrp as a feature, so I just use that.
Do the bootloader first, then reboot the bootloader before you flash anything else. There are instructions floating around here some where or you can google nexus 6 flash factory images. You don't have to flash user data as this will format all you data/ apps.
Just download the latest SuperSu zip (2.50) and put it on your SDcard. If you flash as you suggested and then boot directly into recovery, you will still have TWRP. If you don't flash the stock recovery.img to replace TWRP, it will replace on first boot anyway, unless you root imeediately, but you are probably booting to use the toolkit, which replaces recovery only to have to use the toolkit to flash recovery anwyay.
So do your flashes, boot straight into recovery, flash the supersu zip on your sdcard. Done.

try to flash stock recovery via fastboot and then wipe to factory reset
Use twrp v0.2 as "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrpv0.2.img", then you can install lineageOS
FRP Locked
Even in my fastboot mode its showing "FRP Locked" and nothing is happening, phone is in soft bricked condition.
Even full wipe and flashing Lineage os via twrp is not working.
tried command for frp unlock through fastboot mode and also some frp unlock tools but nothing worked.
if anyone has any idea how to unlock frp and bring back phone in working mode plz suggest.
If your phone have "FRP locked" use dc-unlocker. This cost 15€

its simple.
take your saved frp.img (or get it from a friendly person) before lock and restore it via dd in twrp terminal.

Bro don't worry the exact same thing happened to me and I mean the exact same thing. You still have luck if you have TWRP installed.
Here's how I fixed it. Open firmware finder in PC and download the latest firmware for your phone's varient. You'll get 3 zip files and you need all 3.
Then just flash the stock rom using HurUpdater and make sure you put a recovery.img(TWRP only) file along with other files just to be sure, incase things don't work out, you need a way out so keep the recovery.img.(rename the TWRP image to recovery.img)Put the file in the same folder as the other 3 files(you also need to rename the 3 zip files as in the HuRupdater tutorial).
Once your flash the stock rom boot it up, go to developer options then enable oem unlocking and frp will be unlocked.
Then you can flash whatever you want.
Incase you are still having the issues this is how you can fix it.
Just follow the HuRupdater thread for instructions.

Mi A2 rooting issue! Help urgently

I just unlocked bootloader, flashed boot image and twrp image(temporary) from pc but when i come to my device mi a2 in twrp mode the twrp is unable to read the twrp image or magisk zip. I can see then when i go to file manager in twrp but when i am in flashing screen they just don't appear and other files names are also changed. Is there something missing. I used unlock bootloader and fastboot boot --.img . I am in November patch and my only reason to root was i am not getting further updates after November 2018. So pls help guys
Do this after unlocking critical unlock.. Your storage is encrypted just boot to twrp and do a factory reset under wipe->Format data then type yes!! now your storage will be ready to use as normal then copy your files to phone through pc Don't forget to unlock critical otherwise you cant able to flash stock rom if anything goes wrong

It's the same process. Flash stock boot.img then unlock critical. You flash stock boot and patched boot the same way. You can keep patched boot.img in same folder just change the code in flashing command flash boot.img to flash patched boot.img. If I recall correctly.
Files changed because you are encrypted flash DM-Verity to decrypt your file or do a wipe in internal.

(HELP) Bootloop on Alldocube KPad when flashing patched boot.img file via fastboot

Before, you ask, I must use fastboot since no one built TWRP for my device.
On my Alldocube KPad, when flashing my Magisk patched boot.ig file, it always goes into a bootloop.
Can anyone help me on how to fix this? I'm tired of flashing stock firmware over and over.
Thanks in advance.

Question Can't find valid os??

I was locking my bootloader to try to reroot and pass safetynet. So, I factory reset it, set it up, and then went into the bootloader and typed "fastboot flashing lock". I selected yes to confirm the locking of my bootloader and then my phone rebooted. But now my phone says "Can't find valid operating system" and I can't boot into Android. i was able to unlock the bootloader again but now i don't have magisk installed and I can't even boot into Android to install anything. Is there anything i can do to fix this?
Yes, if you're bootloader is unlocked then you can fastboot flash (or use Chrome web based Android Flash Tool) factory images from https://developers.google.com/android/images
If you want to root extract the boot.img from the zip and patch with Magisk, then fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img after you boot the phone once on stock unrooted kernel.
Thank you. I did it with the flash tool. Then later, it happened again and I realized I could use the boot.img. I'm glad these Google pixels are noob friendly.
Never lock your bootloader unless you know for a fact that you are on bone stock OEM firmware.
