Can't use LDAC via WF-1000XM3 from Verizon LG V40(Pie) - LG V40 Questions & Answers

So I just picked up the Sony WF-1000XM3, which are great for me(as a wireless audio solution), but I just noticed that these are connecting via AAC, and changing the developer options for codec/ Bluetooth Audio LDAC Codec: Playback quality doesn't seem to want to stick.
I can change the settings, but if I window out, go back, or close the options, the Codec changes back to streaming AAC when I look again.

If I never noticed it, I could have probably have just been ignorant of the fact, but now that I know I can't ignore it, and it's driving me insane. please help.

I can tell you from my experience with wh 1000xm3 and v50.
First after pairing go through Bluetooth connection and hit settings on the headphones. Select high quality instead best stability.
Then also in the headphones and music center apps select best the Bluetooth connection to best quality- ldac. So in 3 different areas you should select.
You can should be good to go.

I've made you a short video.

I just got a set of the Sony WF-1000XM3 and use them with my V30. Check the specs, I believe that the Sony WF-1000XM3 doesn't support LADC, only AAC. They still sound great, the best bluetooth buds I've tried.

Sound setting

Where is the setting for the sound when you plug in and unplug the phone?
You mean, that 'Plug n Pop' feature which allows you to quickly switch between apps that output audio ?
Then it's here,
Settings-->Accessory
Check the screenshots for more info.

i never had a problem here, but all you need to do is adjust the sliders. Another quirk this phones has is, that you need to turn up the 'Call' volume to be able to listen to some system sounds. That's about all I have discovered.
I've seen those settings as well, but nothing points toward the plug in/unplug (USB) sound. Thanks for your reply!
Well, the sound seems to be "LG_Cable_Connect.ogg" in /system/media/audio/ui.
If you have root, you can rename it. If the file is missing it seems to work fine as silent with no alert.
But you could also rename and replace that file with another sound using that original name - such as
ia700401.us.archive.org/14/items/SilentRingtone/silence.ogg
or any other media file you like.
I don't know where that vibration setting is, though!

Thanks! I did find that sound, but there is a second sound that is played. I changed it before, but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it!
OK, I finally figured out what I did. I got to the plug-in/unplug setting in the Exposed module Gravity Box, in the Power Tweaks menu.

Bad Bluetooth audio quality?

Hi. I'm about to get this phone. I borrowed it for few hours from my friend to check some things.
Currently I'm on P20 pro and I have a problem with Bluetooth audio in note 9.
Take a note, it's not something that average "Joe" would be able to hear.
My headphones doesn't support aptx but it doesn't matter because I'm comparing the sound that I got on p20 pro and note 9 (exynos, but it doesn't matter for bluetooth I guess).
I bought my Bluetooth headphones (JBL) mainly because I was tired of choosing my future phones by DAC quality. In theory Bluetooth headphones should sound always exactly the same, because digital to analog converter is located in headphones.
Now the thing is it doesn't. I noticed FAR worse frequency separation on note 9. P20 pro output (and not only p20 pro, my PC, TV as well) is more... How to put it... Punchy? Especially with hi percussion and snares. Additionally high freqs are hissy and upped too much. I tried with Poweramp and direct audio (bypass all Samsung software audio eqs etc) with exactly the same settings on both phones.
It's seems that Samsung screwed up somthing on audio encoder level. Exactly the same was S8+.
And it seems that it's not only me:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/bluetooth-audio-bad-quality-t3622984
Is there any way to do something with it? This thing is keeping me from switching.
In developers settings have you set the bluetooth audio codec etc.? If not first try changing those settings and see. See the screenshot , you'll see the address numerous settings which should improve your sound quality.

That stuff usually gets reset when you re-pair your headphones. I've never heard a difference in quality when using them (and I can be picky about audio).

Bluetooth audio codec setting won't stick

Hi all,
I have a Mi 9 lite and a pair of bluetooth headphones. Both are supposed to support a range of bluetooth audio codecs (1) , but I can't get them to use anything but SBC. Trying to find a solution has been frustrating: across the web there's many people who encounter the problem and some find solutions as well, but none work for me / the Mi 9 lite.
In developer options I can see the alternative codecs (2). I can't change any of them until I connect the bluetooth headphones. When connected I can choose any codec (3) , but after setting the value and leaving the settings page , it switches back to SBC.
- I've tried every suggestion I could find: set with BT on, off, either connected to headphones or not connected , battery saver switched on / off, you name it.
- Some people report that when they switched off dual audio the problem was solved (4). But I can't even find these advanced bluetooth settings, they seem to be a samsung galaxy feature.
- Others simply don't have the problem, they can switch freely as long as their headphones support the codec.
- Some people don't have as many codecs, etc etc.
I've pretty much tried all the suggestions and then some, and I'm out of ideas except for chalking a pentagram on the floor and dancing around it with the phone in the middle .
If you have a suggestions or ideas where to look next I would appreciate hearing from you. If I should provide some additional information I'd be happy to do so.
PS I'm no developer but I've been on the android SDK website and found some posts suggesting that the thing to accomplish would be to edit some config file that has the bluetooth codec priority list. No idea if that is of any use though.
EDIT: Having a great time bouncing around in the SDK and finding out what ADB does. Little idea what I'm doing but I'm getting a little taste of why people like messing around with their devices so much. Would rooting the device allow me to explore the filesystem and see what's in /etc/ and so on? Or is that just the fast lane to Brickville?
Dark background screens are mine, light one shows advanced options others seem to have. Numbers correspond with those above

any luck with this issue? any discoveries during further investigation? I've run into this problem frequently on many xiaomi devices (and others). from what I understand, just because they show up in that list, doesn't mean they apply to the given paired device capabilities, which ultimately dictate which option will be used. basically, it doesn't mean anything, until the devices are paired, then it is trial and error to see which setting "sticks". very frustrating to say the least.

Although historically the Dolby and other sound enhancements didn't work well on other phones or required complex procedures beyond the lay person, for this new phone it is a different matter.
XDA has a tradition of porting Sony's strength in phone sound quality to enhance other phones. In particular sirdoha's work comes to mind. Unfortunately in 2020 it is now up to new users to enjoy some harmless porting. Given that porting will not be successful due to DRM, I believe that extracting DSEE Ultimate and Sony'tuned Atmos would at least be a good start.
I require assistance because Android is very difficult.
From xperifirm software a set of folders can be unpacked into .sin files.
Then use https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-unsin-sin-v3-unpacker-t3128106/amp/ to unpack sin into img or ext files. The problem is that although there are some individual files and an apk for sound enhancements within the 'super' sin file, the actual content of the features is nowhere to be found.
Why does any of this matter?
https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ee-hx-ai-dsee-ultimate-dsee-extreme-do.14832/
tells why.
dsee-ultimate is a game-changer, and with it as the tool for playback, streaming services can equal hires downloads. It is in the interest of streaming services to have enthusiasts use dsee-ultimate even on non-Sony devices, until Sony ports dsee-ultimate over to Music Center/Songpal app in the Play Store. It also helps wireless headphones equal the quality of wired headphones. There is no doubt at all that our work here is urgent and imperative until Sony ports dsee-ultimate over to Music Center around October this year.
Please help me.

General Xiaomi 12 Pro MX Player Stutter Issue [Resolved]

Recently purchased Xiaomi 12 Pro [currently on MIUI Global 13.0.6]
Posting this thread here just so that it could be useful to someone facing a similar issue.
Since the very first day, I was facing playback issues on MX Player. Videos on HW+ and Software decoder were stuttering a LOT. In case of many videos the HW decoder was not available, while the remaining decoders suffered with the stutter issues. Though it's much more bloated than it used to be, I still prefer MX Player because of its playback controls and minimal buffering times while playing over network. I could not find any information online to resolve this issue. Other players such as VLC, JustPlayer, etc worked well though. Tried clearing the app data and reinstalled MX Player, but no help.
Finally here is the solution that I found that resolved the issues for me, for good.
Open MX Player and go to: Settings -> Local Player Settings -> Audio -> Audio Output
Here, select 'AAudio' output (few other options might also work) and save.

I also did encounter a similar issue with PowerAmp music player, in which I changed the audio output to OpenSL ES Hi-Res output, which resulted in some minor stuttering, hence reverted it back to the previous one. Looks to be some kind of software bug to me.
While I was using the global rom, I had several problems with Bluetooth, mobile data was draining a lot of battery overnight. So I decided to test xiaomi.eu before selling the device.
Everything now works as it should, has a few more features, uses less battery and is still more fluid than the global rom. I really recommend you to test it my friend
