developer options enabled > weird notification name - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Is it just me? or when dev options is enabled and you swipe the quick tiles all the way down it has the build number where the "user" should be?
i.e if you swipe the tiles all the way down, you will see 10 (QD1A.190821.007)
is this normal behavior?

I'd guess this is intended. I saw this on my old HTC 10 running LOS 17, aka Android 10, as well. As soon as I activated developer options "user" is substituted by "current build number".

[Q] CM13, Xposed module that either colors status/nav bar or grants per-app immersive

This is the first time I have to resort to Xposed General section for help on finding module(s), so any help of value is appreciated.
The title pretty much says it all - I'm looking for a module that can either 1) color status bar and navigation bar according to the app, or 2) offer per-app immersive mode or expanded desktop option, on top of CyanogenMod 13.
For 1) all I've seen is Flat Style Colored Bars, but the jerky scrolling and some UI elements not showing prevent me from using the phone normally.
Other options I've seen haven't added MM support yet, let alone CM13.
For 2) GravityBox had been a very trusty option since KitKat, and while the dev claimed that nothing besides GPe and Nexus is supported, it used to work with CM11 & CM12.x rather well. However, as of GB[MM] 6.0.2, turning on Expanded Desktop results in a hot reboot. Because I'm using CM13, I'm not supposed to submit bug reports to the dev. It's also not per-app, sadly.
Immersive options on the other hand, just like 1), haven't added support yet.
CM actually has a built-in Expanded Desktop option, but *very annoyingly* it doesn't list system apps and only lists some user apps. They are also stubborn to add back a power button toggle.
Now after you read through the above, I guess you know why I had to resort to this subforum for this kind of simple purpose. If you have answers, even if it's not in the forum of an Xposed module, don't hesitate to throw it at me. Thanks in advance!

Finally Android 10

Just installed Android 10 on my phone. Following are new features of 10
1.Black theme.
2. Notification bar have changed.
3. Notch can be disabled via Developer Menu
4. Alternate Display available in Moto under settings
5.Dobly Audio changed to Motorola Audio
6. About phone menu look changed.
Still Checking changed features. Will update if got anything new.
What's the size of the update? Does Gesture Navigation work with thrid-party Launchers like Nova launcher?
approx 500-700 mb and will update 2 times. No gesture navigation doesn't show recent application like it does on default launcher. Gesture back button is working on Nova launcher.
Thanks a lot for the reply. So the Gesture Navigation still doesn't work on Android 10 with third-party launchers, that's a let down!
It's a Beta update, right?
Yeh i think it's beta update only. As on official Motorola website it doesn't show anything about Android 10
Are your enrolled in Motorola Feedback Network?
It's beta testing program for Motorola devices or so I have heard but I've never enrolled in it. If you haven't done that then it is definitely a stable update!
Ive enrolled in MFN.. it's then beta update

Any chance we could get the update files, copied off the device prior to installation? Because when I first installed the Pie update, I got an update.zip file posted on this forum. Would the files still be on your device, even after the update is finished?
Zip file will be available after it releases official. I have beta Android so that files can't be copied.. Like Android 9 released in December i guess officially and i got it in January arrpox on my phone. When it releases official then it will easily available to download and flash.

OneUI/Android10 OTA too buggy?

Judging by the numerous complaints of issues with the new A10 updates, it looks like OneUI with Android 10 is NOT ready to replace Android9, yet it's rolling out as OTA upgrades. I predict it won't be long before people regret this new update and want to roll back to A9. I have a U1 variant and haven't gotten a prompt to update yet. It seem like a good time to fire up adb and disable the packages that are responsible for updates.
Anybody love the new OneUI w/A10 they got on their N9 via OTA? What's good about it?
I haven't had any issues and know a few others that haven't as well, but we are a small amoint of people, so yeah.
I really don't feel a difference between Android 9 and 10 with the exception of how dark mode is implemented now. That's honestly it for me. Battery life for me on the Note 8 and 9 have always been meh, but so has every other phone for me with the small exception of the Xperia Z Ultra and LG Optimus something big. Whatever the big one was.

I went back to Android 9 a couple days ago. To me, and this is just my opinion, 10 feels like 9 to me. And the sad thing is Samsung considers this a major update so that means the 9 will not see anymore other then security patches.

Google did state that Android 10 would be a significant improvement over Android Pie. Whether that is the case or not we have yet to be certain. But it is safe to say that Android Pie for the Note 9 will not be receiving any security patches now. As Samsung will only be releasing patches for Android 10 for the Note 9 from now on.
That is what I meant. 10 patches not Pie

On 10 and loving it. Miss a few good lock options. Battery life has been great while gaming compared to 9. I read a lot of posts here and have not run across any issues yet.
This is what I am waiting for, more news of good or bad experiences with A10. I am very happy on A9 (I have U1 variant) and I dont want to click update yet because I like it how it is. I hate that they stop security patches tho. Dark mode means squat, I have themes that work for that. I also use good lock features alot. I guess I will keep postponing the update till I see more threads about it. The silence is weird, normally there are pages of complaints after a new version comes out.

Iv been on 10 for awhile now, and i have noticed its a little sluggish. Flashed in odin, then i performed a factory reset and it is still sluggish. Hoping for an update soon
Yeah, comparing A10 to A9 (stock) is a different comparison than OneUI A10 to OneUI A9 (Samsung's) ... and that is because one of the major differences with stock Android is that A10 finally integrated dark mode.... But Samsung did that with OneUI on A9, sooo... I have OneUI with Android 9, everything is dark, it all looks good, and I like it. Also, nothing seems buggy.
It doesn't look like there is any reason at all to upgrade to OneUI w/A10, unless I like to take my chances and see if Samsung bugged up a rushed release.
I actually really, really, hate white apps. So if OneUI with A10 integrates dark mode into apps much better than it does with A9, then I would consider the upgrade, for Google apps like gmail, maps, docs, etc.
Good points from all. It's not that Android 10 is bad, it just doesnt seem much different then Android 9. For me the gestures were horrible. I'm sure peeps like them but just not for me.

Android 10 OTA has been great for me - getting better battery life and everything smooth and fluid. No problems whatsoever, and I just did the upgrade OTA, no clean wipe or anything like that (thankfully). Did use Galaxy Labs App Optimiser and I do believe apps open noticeably faster afterwards.
P.S. Still using navigation gestures as I was on 9 and notice little difference.
How are the gestures in 10 different from 9?
I have no buttons on my screen. Bottom right corner swipe up goes back to previous screen. Bottom middle swipe up goes to home screen. Bottom left swipe up shows all running apps.
Is OneUI/A10 different than that?
Someone can tell me how is the volume on Android 10 compared to Android 9? Is it louder or similar?

i think you are using 3rd party launchers? because the new full gestures can only be used on samaung one ui launcher
I am in San Francisco, with unlocked US Note 9, and have not received A10 update.
Has anyone on here in the bay area received it?
If needed, point me to another thread for this question.

Stock full screen gestures (no buttons showing) in settings > display > navigation bar. This is built into OneUI/A9

so you mean to say you dont have the new full screen gestures of android 10?
bdw your fullscreen really shows fullscreen apps?
I've had A10 for a few days now, and besides one small glitch (commas and periods are doubled when I press the icons, and sometimes the space doubles also using the space bar), I've had no issues with it.

I mean to say that I am running stock A9/OneUI with fullscreen gestures built into the OS (not from a third-party app), and from what people are describing about the fullscreen gestures in A10/OneUI, they are not any different. And yes, my fullscreen really shows fullscreen apps--no software buttons.
Ive found that A10 and UI2, cannot handle gestures and fullscreen mode any where near as well as A9 UI1.
Ive tried A10 twice now and both times, from a full wipe, the fullscreen/immersive mode messes up the A10 gestures. Whereas A9 can run fullscreen (no buttons, no taskbar, full immersive for all apps) and use gestures without any issue, and with just one swipe.
You try using proper fullscreen/immersive on A10 with gestures, and it takes two swipes to do anything, and Edge Panel Apps just gets ruined, as you cannot swipe open any more. There must be some conflict in Fullscreen/Immersive mode.
I use bxactions to toggle Fullscreen/Immersive from the Bixby button.

Notifications on lock screen...?

Coming from iPhone 12s where are IG, Tweets, FB and messages would appear in a large 1/2 lock screen then disappear after 10 sec.
On the Pixel we have show content on lockscreen but just get a icon showing messages pending but don't show the message?
Any ideas what we are doing wrong?
AOD just showed icons. Screen on lockscreen can show the entire notification as long as you did not enable to hide sensitive information on lockscreen.
Thank you I am wondering if its something in Android 11?
Have the setting toggled to show all content vs hiding and still not working.
1st picture is what I want on iPhone 12
2nd picture is what I am getting on Pixel 5?

Thank you need to be able to preview without having to touch the phone like we could with iPhones and OnePlus 8
Looks like these phones won't work
Thanks you for the help!
I can't personally see why you'd want to see a notification taking up half the screen, but a quick look in the play store seems to show a bunch of options for customizing the lock screen to match the ios display. I have no experience with any of them, so your mileage may vary. Good luck!

The end user had a stroke and minimal use of fingers this way they can view the feed and not have to touch the phone!
We went back to iPhone 12 it was more easy for there need.
Thanks apps didn't work.
That makes sense, I'm sure there is an accessability option for it, but at that point it's probably easiest to stick to what you know.
