Hide Home Bar? - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Any way to hide the home bar? I don't understand Google's logic. They copied the iPhone's gestures, but in doing so they created a stupid mini bar that runs edge to edge taking up screen real estate for a mini white bar to sit in the center. Why can't it just run on top of apps like the iPhone and fade when not in use?

I'd rather hide the stupid search bar at the bottom. Or figure out how to do it

If you are rooted both of these can be done with this mod.

Use Immersive Mode Manager from Google Play. Doesn't need root and can be activated using ADB.

Totally agree with all of this.
Just have it float always above everything. Simple. Why is that hard Google?!?

The frustrating part is that they kinda do it with some of their apps. Notice how it hovers over Android Messages, but in Chrome, it creates a small black bar. Wtf.

Download "Hide Navigation Bar" from the Play Store, give it the appropriate permissions via ADB and hide the bar. I did it on mine and everything works 100% perfect without the stupid wasted space at the bottom and the ugly navigation pill. Supported the dev with a purchase too to say thanks.

No, sorry. I should have read the thread closer.
Edit: there might be one way. I'll try on my spare phone. The pixel Launcher can be uninstalled. I'll try modding it, signing it, and see if it will install.

Do you have a standalone module or is it in your ADB module? I don't mind the bar but with gboard it takes up a ton of space. So removing it would be super helpful there.

[Q] Removing the Clock and Battery Icons

Is there any way easily to get rid of the clock and the battery icon in the top status bar? Those are the only two i'd like to hide, because of Beautiful Widgets and BattStat there's no reason to have them up there anymore.
Thanks!

then tough luck for me then?
never mind
bump for any ideas..
I'd like to know this as well. It seems like it's a trivial thing to do with CyanogenMod + Spare Parts, and also supposedly easier with 2.2 (and who knows when we'll get that....).
I've seen a few hacks that basically move its position off the screen, but I was hoping for something a little more elegant than that.
For the battery icon, I just replaced it with one that's actually useful.
My googlefu seems to be failing me at the moment so I can't link you to that hack. It's somewhere on these forums though.

Is there a way to change Vegan 5.1's status bar?

Does anyone know if there is a way to change/theme the appearance of the status bar in Vegan 5.1?
Using one of the launcher apps (LauncherPro, ADW) I can change lots of the UI's appearance, but I haven't found a way try different icons and colors in the status bar.
Is it possible?
Thanks to the devs for all of their excellent work!

Thanks it2steve! So if I am reading this correctly, there is not currently a (simple) way to swap icons without creating a new custom ROM using their status bar icons, correct?
That is, I don't see instructions for applying them.
Excellent work though!

What about moving the icons?
Hi,
Is there a way to re-arrange the icons on the status bar?
I love having the back/menu/home buttons up there but, for me, they would work much better if they were all on the left.
I've been poking around in framework-res.apk but so far I can't find the config for this.
Thanks,
~ray
PS: I'm new to vegan and the gtab but not to android or linux (and I'm also an SE). So I expect I can figure this out with a little nudge in the right direction.

Install button savior from the market and you can place another set of onscreen buttons on either the left or right side of your screen and adjust the height
Thanks. That looks interesting but, at the moment, I'd rather change the status bar icons, if possible.
Agreed - I have Button Saviour for now but it's not ideal...
I'd much prefer to have the icons moved to the left side of the notification bar as it is in TnT Lite...
Perhaps now that Vegan build has access to VS source (for TnT config) and the collaboration with CyanogenMod 7 source, we'll see more tweaks in the next Beta (RC?)

Is it possible to hide the click in the top right? (Captivate)

Is this possible? I find it redundant to use beautiful widgets with a clock already on the screen...
Thanks.

I'm sure it would be by modding the framework file. You should maybe start there and see where that goes.
You can do it by modding the framework file, or take the easy way like I did and use launcherpro and have it set to hide the notification bar.

Thought of that, but then I cant see my notifications at the top which I use a lot.. id just like to remove the clock, and slide all the battery and signal info to the right to take up its space.
I found work-arounds for that problem too lol. I customized my dock with 'call', 'texts', and 'gmail' icons and set the preference to show the 'unread' or 'missed call' count on the icon. I think it just makes my home screen look cleaner. Plus I get the full screen view of Katy Perry's half naked body woot woot.
Or you can also just set the notification bar to be hidden, and set the home softkey to pull down the notification bar.

In the past it was possible by editing some of the framework files to remove the icons completely from the library. Finding them can be somewhat time consuming. I'll look into it ... I've promised I'd look into a couple things and just haven't had time yet, busy time of year at work and the desire to get outside before the true summer heat hits has been strong ... but I will get there.
this thread shows you how to get rid of the NFC icon. I'd guess that others can be removed in the same manner

I'm not sure if there are options for the other icons in the CSC file. On other galaxy devices you needed to literally edit the framework files because the icons were hard-coded in there.
Great find though, CSC tweaks are always helpful and everyone should be able to do them.

Yeah, kind of sucks. It hasn't been updated since last year. It used to work great and even allowed different profiles that could be changed with Tasker.
How about hiding the whole status bar? Lol. so you don't see it unless you swipe down. you might need another launcher. Don't know if with touch wiz you can do that.

Touchwiz launcher won't do that but you can do that with a third-party launcher like Nova for example. Another third-party launcher I really like is action launcher 3.

After Update: How to move clock back to right side of notification bar?

Hi ,
I've installed te latest update (Android 10, One UI 2.0)..., now the clock is on the left side of the notification bar, which is really annoying...
Any easy solutions to move it back to the right? Good Lock is not available in my country (Germany)
Cheers
Use SystemUITuner. personally I have everything disabled on my status bar, and QuickStar isn't up to date anyway. So systemui tuner is the easiest method I'm aware of.

System UI Tuner works perfectly fine. Its the first thing I did since updating to 10 on my S10 and have had 0 issues with it (aside from the battery icon re-appearing after restart, which i just toggle again)
Not working on One UI 2.0.
The system icons blink for a second when changing the clock position setting but the clock does not move.
Ahhh okay I see what you mean now. It seems like that's the one thing that isn't working.. that and the battery icon. Other than that everything can be toggled normally.. hmm wonder why
Anyone else has all the notification bar icons come below the notch when dragging down the notification bar?

Clock on S10 devices has always been in the top left corner of the screen, even on Android 9...
It hasn't been introduced with One UI 2 nor Android 10 dude
Sure, before these it was on the right side, and before the last Update I could use SystemUI Tuner or GoodLock (one of these) to move it back to the right side. And I think many people were complaining. Just was wondering why nobody is doing it now
Alright, no worries, if there's no solution avaialble yet, I will just wait and see.
btw: Is there any special reason why GoodLock is not available in Germany? I always have to remove my SIM and use a VPN to use it.

Samsung choice maybe, idk really...
As a workaround, try to download it directly from APKmirror here : https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...ung-good-lock-1-0-00-53-android-apk-download/
This version is from 5th August so it has been made for Pie, maybe you'll have to wait for Samsung to update it and make it Android 10 ready.
This is so ****. It seems there really is no solution to move the clock since the update to 10!

I've got an S9+ and also been dealing with this issue. As small an issue as it is, the clock on the left really bugs me
I just installed Good Lock, which led to QuickStar, which I guess is updated now - clock moved!
Just install "Fine lock" from Play Store, then install QuickStar plugin
Great tip! I have installed the apk and have got the clock on the right side finally! (S10+ One UI 2.0).
I had SystemUI Tuner doing this before in combination with the nav bar color option (black). So using both as of today.
