Will we see android 10/Q for the note 8? Nothing official I guess - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Looking at the latest reports from Samsung we won't be getting an official version, but I assume people will port from something similar or build from source all being well?

I think Android 10 can release for note 8 , samsung was change the updates policy ,but the bad think is it only change after note 8 release , so may or not get 3 updates... s9 and note 9 Will receive 3 os updates

Is their any official news abt note 8 getting A10?

No have any official News if will receive or not, but samsung only updates 2 major os , samsung change updates policy to 3 major os updates but after note 8 release..

The thing I've noticed about Samsung though is that even though the next version of Android is released, the new flagship seem to ALWAYS be released with the prior version of Android ( note 10 with pie, this should have been released with Android 10). This means about a month, 2 or 3 months on they Officially upgrade it and thus have fulfilled their commitment of one major upgrade. About a year later out comes the next major upgrade and that model has now been dropped from the upgrade program. Seems a bit of a con to me, now they do the 3 major upgrades this might actually mean support for the full 2 year life expectancy of our phones...

Hope not! Note 8 its prety stable with Pie 9.0! Realy hope Samsung do not update Note 8!

Lets just hope that Samsung won't suddenly push an OTA that would slowly kill the device / make this device a brick, I owned the Note Edge Exynos variant (The OTA for Android 6.0.1 and their security updates slowly killed the device). Hope this doesn't happen to Note8, I am using Android 9 OneUI 1.0 (February Security update :silly

If that's the case then Android 10 would definitely possible for the Note8 via Custom ROMs and stuff, but then again Note8 is newer than the S8 (why would they even think of doing that). I still kind of get it, cause I believe S10 kind of got the Beta for Android 10 before Note10.

Isn't there a way/possibility to port the lastest Android 10 & One UI 2.0 based Note 10+ Rom for our Note8?

N910C Update..?

Most other variants including N910F and N910G seem to have received BOE update while N910C lags behind. Last update BOC5 has a build date of march 2015. It's really annoying that the Note 4 in general isn't getting the treatment it deserves. Specially the N910C. Other exynos variants seem to have received it.

Any special improvements in those updates that you need or is it just that you need to have the latest version?
Actually both! 5.0.1 isn't a smooth lollipop update already. Of special concern to me is the overheating isuue. And then there's the flashaholic inside ?
BOD2/BOE2 arent too much different than the BOC5 update. They are newer builds since they were compiled later than the N910C ones but that doesn't mean they're more stable than BOC5. You just need to wait. There's a lot of time until your device gets obsolete for Samsung and his 18 months of updates policy.
Samsung was busy with Galaxy S6/Edge 6, and now they are busy with Note 5, and after Note 5 they will be busy with Galaxy S7.
Samsung is so busy, there is no time for Note 4, remember they already got your money, so you are not important to them anymore ............................ WELCOME TO SAMSUNG GREEDY WORLD.
If you are looking for stable faster updates cycle then try any other OEM other than Samsung like HTC, Motorola or even LG.
For me I feel really sorry that I got Note 4, I though Samsung will deal with me like a King and send me fast updates & others will envy me, but they sent me BOC5 with bugs & issues, and then Samsung went directly to fix Galaxy S6 issues and forgot about other Smartphones.

Downloding BOE1 right now for the 910c. :good: Hoping samsung will skip 5.1 and jump straight to android M.
Well it's generally agreed upon that you get 18 months of support and updates. While with samsung i got ONE buggy unoptimized update in 7 months!!
With every other OEM having phablets at 5.7" or more. Samsung is definitely not my next android phone vendor.
But again that's just passive-aggressive. I want my ****ing stable lollipop Updates!! If anyone knows is there anything we can do?

Don't think samsung is planning on updating the note 4 to 5.1 with 5.2 being announced in a couple of weeks. At least it should solve some of the minor bugs in lollipop.
Should've been working on it for a while, my friend. 5.1 has been out a month ago or something
Please use one of the existing firmware discussion threads. No need for a new one.

There have been always some ways!
For this One UI there are two ways.
1. Wait Until the next year start as Samsung will roll out the OneUI update according to a website somewhere around Jan-Fab 2019
2. But if you want to wait longer than wait for a developer who will port that OneUI ROM or ROM features for Note8.
And one thing we all have to admit that delay in updates for older devices is part of business. As if Samsung spreads Every new feature to even a year old device, no one will buy the new ones.

The obligatory 18 month Open Handset Alliance policy soon expire for the Note 8.
We have a better chance of eventually getting Android P, than the UI
I'll update my com . Its booting now . Few weeks i think until it will be bugless

The One UI is part of Samsung's Android P update, so one way or another, you'll get it.
i tried to logging in to Samsung Members and sign up for OneUI beta but unfortunately it is not stated... Oh well... guess i'll have to wait till next year..

A little update for "1 ui" on note 8 . There is alpha 4 testers http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/DBT/SM-N950F/version.test.xml . If its alpha and samsung like buggy updates I would think that beta might come ..... soon XD . Maybe this year

Android 10 Final Update?

Hi! I'm seriously considering buying a refurbished Note 9 but noticed that Android 10 would be its second OS update after just 1 year and 4 months. Samsung's update policy is 2 OS updates with at least 3 years of security updates, does this mean Note 9 won't be updated to Android 11? This would be pretty bad if true. Just looking for someone to clear this up. Thanks.

Normaly in the past for all other models, things went as you said... 2, max 3 OS updates so maybe note 9 might have Android 11.

not sure what youre talking about. the note 9 has had constant updates all year on both the U and the F versions. To double check historical updates, you can look on sammobile.com/firmwares to see the last few releases. sammobile is pretty decent about keeping historical device links active.
Here is the link to the F version and there is a selector for the different variants as well right above the download links

I mentioned OS updates a.k.a Android version updates not security updates. Note 9 launched with Android 8.1, received Android 9 last year and Android 10 this year. That's 2 version updates already which is usually Samsung's limit (3 years of security updates not not withstanding). Note 9 based on past flagships shouldn't receive Android 11.

oh, you mean the separate versions of Android. You said updates, and they are starkly different things. Also, even within the Android "version" are releases which are also "Android version updates". Not trying to split hairs, rather clarify and help avoid people answering the question you asked vs the one you meant to ask.
So, the answer to that is very unlikely. Android releases are just a hair faster than the phone hardware releases and ive never seen more than 2 years of support on any phone, much less a Samsung one. Check my sig for currently owned Samsung phones.
Well you could see the history repeating it self, in this case we have note 8 wgich didn't get android 10, so i gues this will be the same with note9 when android 11 comes.

Are You ready for One UI 2.1 on Note 9?

"We don’t have a timeframe as to when Samsung will start rolling out the One UI 2.1 update for these devices, but it’s safe to assume that the Galaxy Note 10 and S10 series will have priority over their predecessors. There are two reasons for this: one is the obvious fact that the Galaxy S10/Note 10 are newer, and the other is that the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 have only recently made the jump to Android 10 and One UI 2.0.
One UI 2.1 brings relatively few changes
Certain One UI 2.1 features that work hand-in-hand with the newer hardware, such as the option to switch to 120Hz mode, won’t be available on older Galaxy devices even after the update. Obviously, there are technical limitations that prevent some features to be ported over to older models. But other UI changes like the additional Screen Zoom options and/or Samsung Quick Share should be made available on older phones via the One UI 2.1 update.
We’ll keep you up to speed as soon as we learn more about Samsung’s rollout plans for One UI 2.1 on the Galaxy S9, S10, Note 9, and Note 10 series. We should be getting new info on the matter over the course of the next couple of months."
I found this on Sam.
The new software is available for the Samsung S10 with the official OTA from Swizerland.
Anyone knows more like a developer way to have in on note 9 before official release?
Why you need earlier i mean this way you void Knox and other stuff it will like a custom rom and also it will come soon so i dont need to rush anyway. This way i will have it original from Samsung
I hope it zaps the bugs that presented with the initial Android 10 update.
I wish they'd make their video player remember the last used screen mode. Sucks having to press Stretch after starting each video.
I read that they will not update note 9 to One UI 2.1. is possible to update the note 9 in a unofficial way?

This is ridiculous. We have a powerfull and expensive phone, from the most expensive line of Samsung. After only about 1.5 year from its release, Samsung will not update our device anymore?
Last "major" update. We'll still get security updates for awhile yet.
Updated Note9 to One UI 2.1 yesterday.
Does anyone know the apk file name for Samsung Music Share?
I searched via the web and looked through the packages via adb, but cannot figure out which one is Music Share.
Thank you!

Any hope for OneUI 2.5?

Hey guys,
Anyone got any hope or info if OneUI 2.5 is going to come to our beloved Note9? Samsung mentioning that third-party gestures would be fixed in 2.5 in early 2020 and also the fact that there are hidden experimental OneUI 2.5 Gallery features (you can unlock them by going to About Gallery inside the app and tapping the build number 7 times, then a new settings section will come up) makes me wonder if there's a chance. I just wish & hope that the Note9 would end its support on OneUI 2.5 as a Christmas present for us After all the S9 and S9+ got OneUI 2.1 even though their 2 year support cycle expired before that.
August 5th!

I think it will get one ui 2.5 if it is a separate roll out.
if it is rolled out with android 11 then it becomes doubtful.

It will definitely be on Android 10. OneUI 3.0 is coming with Android 11 next year but since the Note20 etc will have OneUI 2.5 it's 100% on Android 10 as we're months away from the official Android 11 from Google.

Yeah, not sure why, but AT&T was really asleep at the trigger this time - I just got mine two nights ago!
I wouldn't hold out hope for it. Even though the Note 9 is hands down the best, its simply old in terms of phone years.
It may be rough to hear, but we've seen the last of updates like 2.1 .
If we do, we will get a watered down version with some features missing... It will also be a while as it has to trickle down through from the 20 series, through the 10 series to finally dribble onto our Note 9's and S9's...
If we get it, it won't be until after the new year...

Since S20 is already receiving it, S10/N10 will probably get it with the September update. October for us would be optimistic.
