Root for EU or CN version? - ZTE Axon M Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
Could someone please confirm for me if it's possible to install TWRP + root (Magisk) on the International and/or Chinese model of the Axon M?
I've read through the posts here and they mainly talk about the AT&T model (which I know you currently cannot unlock the bootloader/root and has been in limbo that way for a while now), so I'm a bit confused about the EU/CN variants.
I bought an AT&T model recently during the clearout sales to try, and ended up loving it more than I thought I would. I really need Magisk though (for reasons), and running emulation like VMOS is not an option. I'm now considering buying an EU (or CN) model if I can get Magisk working on either of them. I don't mind running 7.1.2 on the EU model, I just need root/magisk.
Thanks for any help.
Lucy

I have Spanish version ( I think ) and I can't enter to the bootloader. I try to do the adb reboot bootloader, and it reboot the phone.

Install Stock ROM on XT1775 Qualcomm

I have been searching the forums for about 2 weeks new and haven't found any clear answers. I have the Prime variant XT1775. All i want to be able to do is remove the ads. It seems based on my searches that rooting is not an option at this point, but i do see that TWRP may be an option. Is it possible to just install the ROM from the stock version without the ads? If it is, can any post a link to the ROM and thread with instructions please? Any information is greatly appreciated even if it cannot be done.
just download any qualcomm version of moto e4 plus and install

If you an unlock the bootloader and install twrp, you can remove most bloatwear, and root. If not, the only way is to disable it with adb/fastboot. I think someone described how to do this in the E4 Perry forums. I can make an Amazon version stock flashable ROM and debloated oem, but if you can't unlock the bootloader, they won't be of any use.

That is not a good idea. Have you tried this, and know it works? The firmwares are device specific. Sprint variants firmware are all the same and compatible with other Sprint models I believe, but may not work so good on the Amazon variant. They all have differences mainly in the oem.img. It is always best to flash only the correct firmware for your model/carrier.

Thanks for the info the thread below actually sounds like a custom version of TWRP and root is possible.

The Amazon variant does not seems to be carrier specific and is unlocked. Will just have to try it out and hopefully not brick it. I will be using on T-Mobile. Will report back with the results.
You're using words interchangeably that should not be used and create confusion. The phone is carrier unlocked yes: meaning you can use any service for phone, att, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, boost, etc etc. The add version with Amazon offers however is not bootloader unlocked, meaning you can NOT throw on a custom recovery (twrp) and then flash whatever ROM is appropriate. It's also NOT rootable, meaning: it doesn't give access to the higher most level of the OS so that can attempt to root and other things. While you don't need root to attempt to see if you can flash a recovery, you do need an unlocked bootloader to successfully flash one.
Amazon has been extremely successful in locking down the Amazon version of most phones to where you Cannot do anything other than use them unfortunately. Some have been successful at blocking adds but that's about it. There are rare instances of exploits to get you places but the key word is rare. As for this phone, I just started searching to see what I can do so I have no answers for you.

Should i get the Mi 8 Global ROM or Global Version?

Hello! I want to get a Mi 8 soon but unsure which version of the phone i should get. As i want to make sure that all the Google Play Services are working and also Google Pay. Would i be fine getting the Global ROM Phone or will i need to get the Global Version Phone. I do also play to add a Custom ROM for the phone as well when it starts rolling out.
Note: I am in the UK and want to get the Black/6GB/128GB Model
I would also prefer to get the Global ROM due to the fact of it being much cheaper than the Global Version but want to make sure everything will work before I do.
The current status is quite simple for the Global ROM.
1. The Global Rom is out;
2. You can flash it. but you need to unlock the bootloader first, which usually requires you to submit a request and wait around 360 hours.
3. Once you've unlocked the BL and flashed the Global Rom, all google services would function normally.
the convert is: you CANNOT re-lock the bootloader (at least as of now)
someone says Gpay won't work with unlocked bl.
personally I don't make any payments with my android so I'm not sure.

Google Pay will NOT work with any phone with unlocked bootloader, there are tweaks to get it working but i haven't tried.
Does google pay work on global version?
Install magisk and gpay will work on unlock BL. Should be common knowledge.

Plans, am I doing anything wrong?

Hello all,
I live in the U.S and am planning to get the international version of the phone (Mi 9T Pro) from this link: https://www.amazon.com/Xiaomi-Display-Snapdragon-Factory-Unlocked/dp/B07X55XTBP and run Ting (Operates on T-Mobile, so primarily band #4). However, I haven't rooted a phone since a Galaxy S3 in 2015 and am currently running a Moto G5 Plus: So this is a massive change and I have a bunch of questions.
To begin with, my goals:
1. I want to root the phone, primarily, but still maintain fingerprint sensor to unlock phone
2. Using that, I want to install a Google Camera 7 port (with astrophotography).
3. I'd like to keep MIUI, ideally with OTA updates (not sure if this is possible with a rooted phone?).
4. If there's any way to make cell service better (unlock bands that are locked, like band 12?), I'd like to do that as well.
5. Google Photos automatic backup is also a necessity.
Are there any other improvements that you all would recommend? I've taken a look the threads here and will be doing the following:
- Create a Xiaomi account in order to unlock the phone bootloader
- Boot into bootloader (is there a setting that I need to go to before the next step?)
- Using TWRP .img from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363, run 'fastboot flash recovery twrp.img'
Now what? The phone is.... rooted? How does one install xpozed and magisk?
As for google camera: https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/themes/collection-modded-google-camera-ports-t3991817 Android 10, link #3. (What's xml support?)
Thank you all for your help, a lot has changed since I last worked with this stuff
Unlocking bootloader and rooting does not break fingerprint. Unlocking extra bands is IMPOSSIBLE.
Regarding how to root, after 1 week wait of unlocking bootloader, you will have to flash push TWRP and then flash a magisk file. There's a thread for it.

Hello! Is it possible to root this phone as for now? Are there any custom roms for this model?

If you can unlock bootloader, yes you can flash Magisk to root or flash GSI as custom ROMs.
Have you unlock your phone bootloader? May I know what model of your phone? Starting with RMX...

Thank you for the response. I could not find TWRP for this phone. The model is RMX2025. I couldn't unlock my phone's bootloader because the official "Bootloader Unlock Tool App" does not support this model... The lowest model it supports is rmx2051. Is there any other way to unlock bootloader on this phone? People say it's impossible...

Welcome. As far as I know there is only deep test app to unlock bootloader for RMX2051 model of X50 5G only. As long as Realme does not provide deep test app for RMX2025, there is no possible way to flash TWRP or any custom recovery. IMO Realme probably care the vendors rather than the end users so that they have their phones unable to be unlocked.
I sold my RMX2025 and RMX2144 already. Right now I have Redmi K30 5G which is basically the same platform specs as Realme X50 5G. Android devices give the users the ability to customize their devices over iOS devices. This is one of the major attractive points that I chose Android devices over the iOS devices. But some major phone manufacturers chose to remove this selling point.
Well...There may be some hope that Realme may give the deep test app that supports other models of their X50 5G later. But no idea when.
I contacted a Hindu Youtuber who makes videos about unlocking phones, and he said that he will soon post a video of how to unlock RMX2025. As for now, I have restored my phone to default settings and removed (or disabled) almost every Chinese app. Google Assistant still doesn't work but I can live without it

That would be very cool. Please uodate whenever he post the unlock video. I am looking forwards to watching this. This phone is good though. If I can unlock the phone, I will probably buy another RMX2025.
I have seen a post showing how to debloat this phoneas well. You may also look in some section of this phone forum for additional space.
have you tried changing region of your phone? to make it CN variant?

SM-G973u1 snapdragon root

Sorry to just drop a question, but I can't find the answer. Can the snapdragon S10 SM-G973u1 bootloader be unlocked? If not is there another way to root it?
Thank you
Chris

HelloChris333333, just when you post on a forum the courtesy of saying hello. Yes you can root just with the firmware of your model S10 SM-G973U1 US model so not compatible with EU firmware.

I'm not sure that's true, but I would love to find out I'm wrong.
In my research, the SD phones cannot be unlocked unless you are on (and remain on) an older BL version. The last unlockable BL version was 4, as I recall... if you're running updated firmware you are likely on BL 6. Even on 4, the process was not free and once you did it you could not update to a newer version of FW without losing the unlock.
For this reason, I gave up on getting root/BLunlock on my phone... and honestly, I have not missed it. This is also why I have not seen much development of FW for the SD phones anywhere.
Again, if I'm wrong, I'd love to learn how it's done!
Hello meric57
Can you share a link to the firmware I need? I just bought this phone and there is no OEM unlock option, it is a US phone. If I cannot root it I will have to sell it and get another phone.
Thanks
Chris
I guess another question would be where can I get a S10 with the Exynos chip?
Thanks
Chris
Using ADB I keep getting "waiting for device" and then I find I need to unlock the bootloader. This crap is an endless circle.
U4 can be unlocked before , I can unlock it , Special engineering documents need to be made
I'm V6 nothing available. I bought a G973F instead. G973u1 going on ebay.
Exactly, there is really no root/unlock for snapdragon phones unless you're on a very old BL (and you have to stay there so you can't update). IMO, that's not "can be unlocked" even with "special" steps, particularly since most phones today will have newer BLs (even a year ago, I couldn't find a BL4 phone)... but, yes, it's technically true to say it can be unlocked, but only in very limited cases.
@Chris33333 For this reason, I get that you may want to go to the Exynos instead... I'm curious, if you're in the US, how does that work with carriers? Does it? I've found most US carriers refuse to activate phones that don't match their list of "compatible" IMEIs... I imagine an F-series phone won't be on that list.
I'm in the US using Straight Talk with T-mobile. I've had a Galaxy S5 rooted for years. With straight talk I can use AT&T, T-mobile, or Verizon. But this international phone does not do Verizon.
And StraightTalk will activate the F-series phone without complaint or issues? If so, that's great to hear... because I know VZ and ATT typically won't...
I haven't put the SIM in it yet. Still trying to delete all the crap off the phone.
Lol
