No TWRP, how do you backup/restore? - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Please pardon my ignorance. I'm coming from my trusty [now nearly 5 year old] Nexus 6, running Android 8.
I feel a bit like I've fallen asleep under a tree, and have awakened to find everything has changed.
I was bummed to learn there's no TWRP available for our Pixel 4 XL, and probably won't be for some time [*1].
So.... what are you guys using to do full back/restore?
I ask because I recently found myself wanting a full NAND backup, after soft-bricking my Pixel 4 XL while trying to install a buggy Xposed Framework, which caused a bootloop [*2].
[*1] - https://twrp.me/site/update/2019/10/23/twrp-and-android-10.html
[*2] - https://github.com/ElderDrivers/EdXposed/issues/376

I haven't done a nand backup in years. My full backup is 1) letting Google handle most of it 2) TiBu and SMS backup and restore. I have TiBu run backups of all of my designated apps and sync them with GDrive twice a week. It really makes doing a full wipe not really a big deal at all.

I got bootloop with Xposed too and was tripping out since I haven't played with phones in years. Finally was able to reflash stock. Is there a stable version of Xposed to use for our phones?

Google's backup covers me well. Used to do Titanium Backup but the last time I did that was over 4 years now.

Great question... one that deserves to be in a dedicated thread, as I think many of us could benefit from knowing the answer.
Edit: @eg1122 just started a new thread here

Nice. I didn't know Tibu was still useful. When I saw it on play store it hadn't been updated in a while so I figured it was obsolete....had to dig up my pro license from the galaxy s2

Tibu wasn't working too well for me... that is until an update for V8.4.0 came out earlier today.
It was FC'ing whenever I'd try to open the app yesterday.
After today's update, it seems to be working for me.

Sorry for the late response. If you go to the pixel 4xl section and look for "theme and mods" section it's in there. Follow the steps exactly

[VIDEO] How To Flash Android 4.4 To Your Nexus 4

Hey everyone, me again! So with Android 4.4 out for the Nexus 4, I thought some folks might need a little help installing it, or maybe just need a visual aid to help. So I made a How To video. Hopefully it helps some people :fingers-crossed: If it does, maybe hit that "Thanks" button?

I have an easy root fix for once you update to 4.4 if you have Mac
I modified the Root.Nexus.4.zip file for Mac on here, updated it to CWM 6.0.4.3 image, and SuperSU 1.65 image. Just unzip, and run the Root.Nexus.4 terminal shell script with the N4 in fastboot with USB connected to the Mac, I think you can use a similar script for PC and prob need USB drivers if you don't have them already. Hope this helps
I'm unable to post a link on here since I'm a newb, PM if you want the link to the zip
Thanks
Another build available here : http://www.androidauthority.com/android-4-4-kitkat-nexus-4-nexus-7-download-unofficially-313352/.
Flashed this in CWM, everything, including root is absolutely fine. (I flashed SuperSu 1.65 zip). But for the proper google experience, have to wait for the factory images.
The lockscreen widgets functionality (except for the camera widget) seems to have been removed, can anyone find that option anywhere?
Edit: Lockscreen widgets can be enabled in Settings->Security.

Where are you getting the zip from? I googled viper4android nexus 6 and found this website: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/viper4android-t2952137
However, I followed the details exactly and it is not working. The driver status says abnormal.

odd. works fine here. works fine for everyone i know that uses it. thats where i got it from as well.
You will need something to switch it to either enforcing or permissive. Which ever one it calls for. Not all roms are set the same. Never found a use for it myself but there is a thread in the apps and themes section.

Some say it makes it less secure but to be honest the rom I run has it set to permissive so that the built in theme engine works and I have never had an issue. Mind you I dont do alot with my device really. Just the normal. Calls, SMS and work stuff. The rest of the time is sits in my pocket.

But if you flash 3-4 times a week, you would easily need 10 hours to flash, download and setup all apps...
ive been on dirty unicorn rom since the day i bought 3t, now back on stock stable rom just for the raw support in camera. the fingerprint is much much faster than any other custom roms. DU is a very solid rom, been using that on my 5x. But, stock op3t rom is really fast and stable. if only stock rom got immersive mode setting for preventing burn in on status bar, then its a perfect rom for me at least.

Android P Beta available for Nokia 7 Plus

Hey guys!
It seems Android P beta is available for selective models of Nokia 7 Plus.
https://developer.android.com/preview/devices/
The eligible devices list contains this phone.
I have ordered mine and will be receiving it in 2 days. Meanwhile, if anybody wants to give a try, please let us know how it is.
Cheers!!
Edit: If you are planning to upgrade to this Developer Preview 2, better download both files including the DP2 Beta and the Rollback Zip in the 1st instance. Once you have both files, proceed to upgrade. Many people are facing issues to download the rollback zip.

That's bad but nonetheless, a good news. Uploading the update here won't do anything as the device has to be enrolled into the beta programme and IMEI gets bound with the update. So, that Nokia knows which phones are on beta programme.
Do share your first Impressions after the update gets installed.

I guess the rollback will work just the way beta programme works. You will have to unregister your device and an OTA would be sent to your device to get you back to stable software.

Cool! I was not happy with the wiping stuff so I didn't end up flashing it but I'll wait until more people confirm it actually works without wiping.

Just a warning to everyone else wanting to try this. In the Release Notes of the dev preview (https://developer.android.com/preview/release-notes) they say:

I could not find one. I found the module on Google.
You can take a look inside the zip, it is just face unlock and required libs from opengapps packaged as a magisk module.
You could even download the latest gapps and replace the files in the module zip with those from the gapps zip.
Works exceptionally well on my 3a XL. I did the model training about 10 times from different angles and it recongises me within half a second if not less.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did the same a few days ago and am seeing much faster and more reliable unlocks.
Is there anyway to have the option where it goes straight to the home screen instead of having to swipe after it is face unlocked?
Is it working in android 10?
