Rom selection - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hi together,
I'm new to the Xiaomi Mi 9t pro. Now I'm wondering which rom I should choose.
I would love to have an as close to pixel rom experience as possible.
The rom should be suitable for daily use.
And I would like to use the full potential of the cameras.
What would you recommend me and why?

Only MIUI at this stage fully utilises the cameras.
The Pixel rom is pretty good, but it can be tricky to get the correct vendor installed to obtain things like audio.

Can we just copy the MIUI camera apk then use it on custom roms?

Something or the other is going to break for some reason.
You can try pixel experience plus+chinese vendor+anxcamera 139
For me that has been the most stable.
And anxcamera+google camera will give you the full functionality.

I wish. Driver integration and so on is required.

Completely substitute the on board camera app with the Google camera

Help guys,
I am currently using miui 9 beta rom from Xiaomi eu on my Mi Mix.
For the camera, I am getting really amazing results with the modified Google camera apk, the one with ported hdr+ from the Pixel.
It's useless at this point to ever lunch the stock camera, which is really awful.
I use very often the "double click the power button" from lock screen to get into the camera. This however launches the stock camera.
Is there any way to force MIUI to launch the Google camera instead?
Thank you for your help.
try button mapper... or similar apps from store, no root, root or xposed.. depending wich level modification u want...

Hey. I've tried selecting 3rd party cam apps as default to get them triggered by double press to launch(screen off) but however it only launches the stock camera app. I also froze the stock and tried so but no luck. Im on MM build so you can just give it a try by Settings » Installed apps » Defaults(icon on the bottom) » Camera then select Google cam.

I tried that already, no luck. Thank you for the suggestion anyway.

I was looking for the same thing a few days ago didn't solve it and moved to ViperOS rom.
Maybe it can work if someone finds a specific MIUI file with the camera path shortcut on it, I have no idea where to start looking ...
So far even button remapper doesn't work for this

You need to enable camera hal3
Can I do this with Super SU or do I have to have Magisk?

Can anyone share some feedback on this app working on custom ROMs for the Mix like LineageOS? With a custom ROM and a better and more customisable launcher like Nova Launcher for example, I think the integration and implementation of the Google Camera HDR+ app will be much better than on the stock MIUI ROM.
Thanks in advance

What are the Best Roms with no Issues for the Mi Max 2?

What are some good roms for the mi max 2 thats not MIUI with NO issues. And one with the ability to install Substratum?
The stable ROMs from MIUI are the only one with NO major Issues. And none of them support Substratum yet. There are some custom ROMs, but they are not Stable, most of them are on Beta/developer ROM.

Hey man,
I'm not a big fan of MIUI. It really sucks big time. Its too simple and plain. Do you know if theres a way to change the background color of the system and phone?

Download Oreo/Nougat theme on Theme Store. Install Nova launcher and find yourself an icon pack. You should be able to have 95% android stock look.

Appreciate the link but this theme is in chinese. If I get this phone it'll be for the global version since I'm in USA. Will; this theme be in english?
Other than that MIUI is soooo outdated looking. It looks as outdated as win 95. Very disappointing.
The theme will be in whatever language your phone is.
I don't know which version of MIUI you are looking at, but it has come a long way. It's not as bad as it used to be and in terms of design it doesn't look outdated at all except for the ugly icons, which you can easily change. The Themes app allows for a lot of customization which on stock Android can only be done on a rooted phone, too.
Anyway, I still prefer stock Android over MIUI as well, but before Lineage OS is stable enough for me, I'll have to stick to MIUI. These are my settings in the themes app to make it look more like stock Android and darkish enough for me:
Lock Style: Default
Status Bar: Clean
Icons: Limitless
Messaging: Default
Dial Pad: Simple & Clean UI
Favourites Tray: Default

I'm on the "Global" version of the phone there are plenty of dark themes available in english, visit the themes sub-section on the official MIUI forums at http://en.miui.com/forum-7-1.html and take a look for any that take your fancy... On a side note there are way to many iPhone themes there,,,

None.
Yet.
At least, according to your criteria. Especially the "NO issues" part. (Current LineageOS for Mi Max 2 still has some issues - for e.g. IR does not work yet.)

That's the only issue (usless one)
IR has probably been fixed by now, it's just a matter of time until xuefer posts his updated build here. There are devs actively working on Lineage based builds for the Max 2, I'd say a couple more weeks until we start seeing more ROMs here.

Google Camera with Portrait mode and Night Sight for MIUI 10

Hey Everyone. I finally found a way to make google camera work on miui.
Just flash the zip and use this camera and settings.
Files were taken from LOS 15.1 so credit to its developers.
Suggested Google Camera Port:
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GCam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.4.032219.1950.apk
Bugs:
Miui Camera doesn't work
Slow motion doesn't work.
V2 Update:
Fixed no audio in video recording

I installed Gcam to my Miui 10.2.4 system. After this, my camera started to lag and freeze. Because of that, I installed Lineage Os 16.0 but none of the rear cameras were working. Then I tried installing some other custom ROMs but I just couldn't get rear cameras to work. What can I do about it?

Create a folder inside the internal storage and name it Gcam, inside that one create another folder called configs and copy the xml file there.
Fire up the camera and double tap the grey area between the shutter and pictures, and select restore from the pop up menu restart the camera and you are done

Question miui camera for A13

Hi all! Is it possible to install a camera from miui into custom firmware a13?
As far as I know, it needs to be baked in. There was a flavor of Pixel Experience+ that had it baked in. Otherwise, there is a mod called ANX for magisk, but I haven't tested that one.
