[ROM] [TEST][LINEAGEOS 17.0 for p8 lite 2017 ] - P8 Lite (2017) Discussion

Hey guys,
i made a test build from lineageos 17.0 for prague.
if you want to test and give some log to me download https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261611324 this build
backup your current rom including /vendor partition.
then wipe /system, /data and /vendor partition.
flash my Rom and then if it's not boot please send me sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops
my source: https://github.com/feroxx

Bootloop on p10 lite , no possibility for logs even under sys/fs/pstore.
Sorry but it seems many files are missed in vendor of this build.

Compared to stock vendor many folders are missing :
vendor/etc/Bluetooth/
vendor/etc/camera/
vendor/etc/cellular_cloud/
vendor/etc/dhcpcd/
vendor/etc/gnss/
vendor/etc/ikedconfig/
vendor/etc/modemConfig/
vendor/etc/xml/
vendor/usr/
vendor/phone.prop
Maybe others
-------------------+
And about your build :
compatibility_matrix.xml & manifest.xml which are in separate zip don't install correctly in system nor in vendor
--------------------+
That was just an opinion
Best regards

Im sorry to intrude, i cant install OS .zip files on my pralx-1, i seem to only be able to install .img files from adb fastboot (on stock ROM and bootloader) and then install twrp. Otherwise it always gives me bootloop. So i cant be of any help but wanted to thank you for taking your time and to bring lineage back to this model. I've sucessfully installed pphhusson Android 10 gsi trebble available on github (cant post links because of post count) maybe you can take a look and see if he is doing something different in order to avoid bootloop. Theres also a havoc 3.0 release from developerluke (though i havent tested that one). I wish you all the luck and once again thank you for your work, cheers

Do we need updated GPU drivers for fixing graphical glitchs? I read that its common problem with Android 10.
I haven't tried booting Android 10 GSI on P8 lite 2017.

there's an unofficial lineage 17 from Andy Yan in case anyone wants to take a look at it
Code:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-17.0/
I've tried it and it boots just fine but ended up going back to un official havoc 3.0 from developer Luke just because i prefer the added customizations it has

i made a new build
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261647300
can anyone test my rom?

For flashing a treble build, what flavour for our P8 lite 2017 ? Tryed GSI type A arm64 but bootloop (for LOS17 by Andy Yan)

TWRP v3.1.0 for cherry Kirin-620

This is the official TWRP v3.1.0 build for Kirin-620 devices.
Download it and put it on your SD/ Internal space and flash recovery from your current TWRP or copy it to your pc and flash it with fastboot. Both ways work.
https://dl.twrp.me/cherry/
The newest Version 3.1.0 released a few days ago and our device and other cherry devices are already supported. It has some new functions like adb backup.
Most changes are for HTC and Nougat devices and not worth mentioning here.
Edit: thanks to Bi-Turbo. He updated the recovery and changed the device id to our device. That means you can now flash roms for our phone without problems.
Here is his new Link
I can confirm that the recovery is for kirin version of cherry devices. Works great on ALE-L21

Works even on flashing roms?
The last version had some trouble with it, I remember I flashed it and then i was not able to flash any rom nor zip because it was a 'cherry' device so I had to return to the old twrp.
Well, this recovery is for cherry so i think same problems will be here too

You can easily fix it by editing the updater-script of the ROM. This version is preferred because it is faster, newer, better and it has more functionality. It can even backup some partitions that the other TWRP can't backup. I would recommend you to use this recovery and just fix the update script.
Or he can just decompile the recovery, edit the default.Prop and edit the cherry names with P8 Lite names, then compile again and you are good

Oh, nice. Hm, should I flash this? Without stable custom roms not needed. Other Stock ROM can be flashed with fastboot, kernel, too. But it would be useful for rooting the phone. But, do I need this?
Hi. Just I ported TWRP from Honor 4X (cherry) to P8 Lite. Tomorrow I will give a link to download.

Be sure to send the link so I can update this post. Thanks a lot for your work. I didn't had the time to do it.
As promised, I share link to download recovery TWRP 3.1.0-0 for P8 Lite ported by me.
Link: mediafire.com/?xn663efo2fl63ub
Changes:
- Removed mounting USB OTG (not supported by device),
- Changed kernel and ramdisk from P8 Lite,
- Changed the name of device to ALE-L21 and codename to alice.
Good luck.
Hm, stable enough? Never change a running system And TWRP 3.0.2 works well. Normally good enough for me. Maybe for Android 7 we need the new one?
According to me it is stable. I updated from TWRP 3.0.2 to 3.1.0 and it works very well.

If someone is interested in the flashable zip from Recovery and eRecovery...
What is the difference between the two? I have installed the first recovery and worked amazing. Can't see much changes, but no bugs so far. Don't have test flashing a rom with it, so we will see Normally it should work everything.

If im correct, it means our devs have just to work on /vendor so we can flash gsi of ROMs that aren't built specific for santoni. Also updating hardware related things are completely independent of Rom Updates.
I understand more now, how difficult it is for devs.
Thanks for explanations.

Yup stable enough, some small bugs are there like cannot turn Bluetooth and WiFi on at the same time and YouTube seems to stutter.
Other than that everything works fine. Does heat up a little bit though.
I'm just trying DP4 and flashed all 3 zips after the GSI but the device doesn't sleep. Anyone else?
BT and WiFi at the same time isn't.possible, it seems.

[ROM][GUIDE][UNOFFICIAL] ResurrectionRemix, LineageOS 15.1 + MORE! - Project Treble

Hello fellow Redmi S2 community
We finally have some custom rom/ Project Treble roms available to use
Please NOTE: Most are unstable as daily drivers as we still don't have developer support for our little device
Disclaimer
You know the drill, I'm not responsible for what happens to your device
good luck!
Let's begin!
I have been testing different project treble roms AND the Miui base roms (ranging from stable Miui9 - 10 and beta's) to find the most 'stable' daily driver
The best combination to date is using the Sep 11th MIUI 10 global stable with Resurrection Remix.
However if you do want to experiment, I highly recommend doing so as the Project Treble roms are updating constantly.
I will leave links to recommended ARM - A roms below and the recommended MIUI 10 base roms to flash over.
What you need:
Miui Base rom both Fastboot & Recovery (I recommend MIUI 10 stable)
Project Treble GSI (gemeric system.img)
Fastboot installed on your PC - there are plenty of tutorials, use google
GAPPS (please note I have had a lot of difficulties installing gapps and HIGHLY recommend you download a rom with gapps go pre-installed. You can use apps like LINK2SD to delete the Go-version and install the fulll version later)
A little bit of patience and time - first boots can take 5-10minutes

Open GAPPS - I RECOMMEND USING MICRO-NANO-PICO. There are plenty of installation issues
https://opengapps.org/
Known Issues
There are many, let me know and I will compile a list
Brightness scaling
Auto-brightness
Instructions
Backup ALL data & partitions
Boot into TWRP recovery
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe data (backup)
Flash MiUi stock rom VIA fastboot
When rom flash is complete DO NOT BOOT THE ROM
Reboot into Fastboot
Make sure your GSI or system.img is in your Fastboot folder
Run this command: fastboot flash system the-name-of-your-rom.img
For example: fastboot flash system-180818-arm-aonly-vanilla-nosu.img
Now the ROM has been flashed, you can install TWRP, Magisk and GAPPS or just reboot into your new rom
If I helped you please thank me, it helps a lot enjoy your new project treble roms!

Hi guys
First of all I am NOT A DEVELOPER!
There are plenty of issues with every AOSP treble build but they can function OKish for daily use.
You can install almost any Project Treble GSI that has support fo devicesr: ARM - A
I recommend using ResurrectionRemix - it has been the most stable for daily use I have experienced so far
https ://sourceforge. net/projects/resurrectionremix-oreo/files/armaonly/
^ ^
-remove the spaces-
You need the system.img (Generic System Image - these are used for project treble roms) to proceed further.
THIS WILL DELETE ALL OF YOUR DATA. MAKE A BACKUP OR SAVE YOUR FILES ELSEWHERE.
and of course I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone, do this at your own risk and be prepared to face bugs! and use google to find out how to overcome them.
good luck my friends!
Known issues:
You tell me
Instructions :
Download the latest .img build and GApps
Download the latest Miui 10 Beta recovery rom current - MIUI 10 8.8.30
Reboot to TWRP recovery
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe data (backup)
Advanced wipe- system cache dalvik data
Flash latest stock rom - MIUI 10 8.8.30 beta
Reboot to fastboot
Plug your phone into your computer
copy your downloaded GSI.img to your adb&fastboot folder
Flash via fastboot: fastboot flash system the-name-of-your-rom.img
Reboot into TWRP & install Magisk
- PLEASE NOTE I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH INSTALLING Gapps, PLEASE TRY AND FIND A ROM THAT COMES WITH Gapps. YOU CAN USE L2SD TO DELETE THE GO VERSION AND INSTALL THE FULL VERSIONS FROM PLAY STORE LATER-
Reboot

Looking forward to seeing more Project Treble roms out there!
Please support rom
Some applications are not supported because they support 64-bit architecture, which refmi s2 cpu can run 64-bit version. However, the developer has only 32-bit in operating system, which causes a lot of problems. One of the major problems is that you can not install a 64 bit application. Please help make this a ROM.
Users of Redmi s2 have asked the developers of Xiaomi's way to make a new ROM that supports 64-bit architecture, but has ignored it and has never talked about it.

Ui is laggy
hi, thanks for this rom, installed on A510F successfully.
ui is a little laggy but the rom is usable everyday
This ROM can run on A710, and it works fine. I used your files on GitHub to fix bugs, and now it works perfect.:good: Thank you bunnyy
Hi Bunny,
Congratulations for this first version!
You did a great job.
In fact I have not found any triple crashes, any kind of problems with third-party apps, no spontaneous reboot, no jamming and / or blocking.
Obviously there is still work on the front of the optimization, in fact the UI laggy in practically every sector, consumption is as anomalous (even if they are not bad to be the first version) and the recharge has problems of overheating, in addition to do not indicate if it is a fast or slow charge
I hope you will continue to develop and that every month you will update the security patches, and maybe one day you will also grow into making it a LOS Official (as it was for dotOS).
hi
bunny the rom is very good .but only one request

When a new build comes out, can I just flash the new build over the old build without wiping everything? (TLDR= Dirty Flash Update/New Build?)
Installed yesterday on french A510F.
No problem until now except in configuration wizard if I choose to configure via data instead of WiFi.
Thank you!
Can't find a way to root in order to restore my Titanium backups, is there a way that works? (I've tried these zip: SuperSu v2.82, addonsu arm 16.0 unofficial, magisk v18.0)

Yes, it can be installed on all a710 devices ,and I'm trying to port it for a7108 and a5108. I can tell you how to install it on a710, but can't give you the zip. Because some files are from GitHub. The partitions of a510 and a710 are totally the same, except a5108 and a7108.
Really looks good idea
Hi! Can you please elaborate a bit.
The link you have provided (filename probably in chineese) is a boot image.
So, on my A7 (2016), after TWRP(which my device already has), this boot image is to be flashed - is that right? Or ROM is to be flashed then reflash this boot image? and then gapps?
Are you using this device and ROM? I am worried because not a single ROM based on 8.1 for this device is working 100%. Every ROM has its own problems and benefits.
Thanks and Regards
Any developer, if can confirm above, please.

You can flash this zip any time. Before flash this one, you need flash the ROM, and then flash the vendor of a710 (You can find it on bunnyy's GitHub). Without doing that, you can't use camera.
I have a a710k, and I'm using this ROM.
@bunnyy: are you following this
This thread is for A5 devices, so I hope your uploades are for A5 (2016). But somebody saying it can be flashed on A7 (2016).
Is it correct? OR it may brick a7

You said you installed this on A7 2016 device, does it run smoothly with no problems? Can you share us the step by step procedure? Will it also be installed on my A710Y device? Thanks

Finally, a LineageOS 19.1 without Gapps pre-installed. Kinda sad that the other los has gms built-in while the other one stopped development. But this one looks promising as it sticks to the original Lineage experience.
Some questions that I would like to have clarification before testing this ROM:
1. ROM is using Aryan Tress right? Means it does also support ANX v204?
2. Signature spoofing present in the ROM?
3. Is OTA available?
4. Will it support erofs and f2fs compression in future build?
5. Is NTFS file format for OTG and SD Card readable? (Some roms can't read my ntfs SD card which I use for backups/ROM changing)
agree with @BigChungus321 , finally a vanilla build.
Can you please tell me the difference between vantom kernel and the default?
Also are you planning to make this official?
Edit: Is this using oss vendor?
Thank you!

This is an oss vendor rom since the flashing instruction only says latest miui 13 firmware plus the download size for the file is 1GB+. If it is miui vendor then it should be less.

Okay thanks! Why the miui firmware though? I moved from arrow os 11 to 12 without flashing any firmware or anything else...

Tysm!
Signature spoof is not really a big problem since there's a workaround for microg without signature spoof. Also thank goodness no erofs, I kinda like having system as r/w. OTA not a problem as well, would be cool though for a TG channel as a way to get notified on updates in the meantime. For anx and ntfs, welp I hope it works since I personally prefer stock camera images and use my SD card to restore backups.
I'm definitely going to give this rom a shot when I get bored of my current ROM.

So that means this build will never be official? Because i think lineage requires stock kernel

LineageOS doesn't require the stock kernel. You can't go official with the current device sources (as they are right now anyway) as LineageOS already has a different sm6150-common tree.
