Reboot to bootloader after flashing a rom fix - OnePlus 6T Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello everyone.
I had this issue recently that I figured out how to fix.
When I tried flashing a custom Android Q Rom in TWRP recently, it would either go reboot to Twrp or get stuck on the bootloader unlocked screen for a few seconds and then give me a qualcomm crash error. I found out the problem (at least with me) is that I upgraded my OOS to stable 10, tried it for a bit, and decided to use the downgrade pie zip that OnePlus provided, and I didn't know I was getting those errors because of that.
To hopefully fix it for you guys too, first, you wanna put your device into fastboot mode and download the zip from here https:// androidfilehost .com/?fid=11410932744536996577 then unzip the archive and inside the unzipped folder, unzip the other 2 archives and run the .bat file named flash-all-partitions-fastboot and let it run and finish, and after that your custom ROMs should boot. If you're still rebooting to TWRP for some reason after that, flash Twrp 3.3.1-20 by mauronofrio and that issue should be fixed.
Hopefully this quick guide will help some of you out.
Edit: Forgot to tell you guys in that link that I gave I put a couple of spaces so I could post you guys the link, because they won't let you post links with new accounts, so just delete the spaces

Lineage rom will not install on my Zuk Z2 Pro

Today this rom appeared so I'd like to install it onto my zuk z2 pro:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=144110
(lineage-14.1-20170127-UNOFFICIAL-z2pro.zip)
OK I previously had stock 2.5.335ST installed and working properly
1: I have rooted the phone
2: I have installed TWRP
3. I have run superSU
4. I have gone into trwp and factory reset
5. I have placed the lineage rom into the root
6. I have tried to use trwp to install the zip file
Error 7 every single time
If a screenshot is needed just let me know
Can you share the updater-script from this rom? The TWRP log too.
Sent from my Z2 Pro using Tapatalk
I have uploaded the updater script in a zipped format. I will try and get you the TWRP log ASAP.
While I was working to get you the file I had the phone completely shutdown for about 15 minutes. I turned the phone on and booted into recovery (TWRP). I decided to try and load the file (zip) one last time. This time I was able to load the file but I had an error at the very end of the loading process and the phone rebooted itself without user intervention in twrp. The phone is sitting at the lineage splash screen and so far it hasn't gone past it. I'll give it some more time. I'll try and get you the twrp log later should the phone fail to boot.
Won't go past the splash screen so I'll try to see if it is possible to get a twrp log
Recovery log attached
Someone told me this might be a test build that will not boot so I'm trying to get more info

bricked device with oreo, old unbrick doesnt work

hi guys,
yesterday i installed the oreo beta on my VTR-L29 but then i brickedd it *cry*. unfortunateley the unbrick methods found here in the forum don't work because the oreo update made some changes in the system file structure...
has anyone an idea what to do?
maybe someone can provide me a recovery image for twrp? (one for oreo, otherwise it wont work) so i can give this a try...
after over 10 hours of fiddeling around a found a really easy solution:
most of you know HWOTA helps with this, but the "normal" version wont work after flashing oreo. but this version is flashed via twrp and is still working!
but you will need a oreo compatible twrp, which you can find here
i know the links are to mate 9 software, but since the p10 and mate 9 are nearly identical, it works on the p10 as well
can you post the step by step guide?
i am on oreo 8.0.0.046 and want to flash another version, or downgrade to nougat because few things don't work on this version
i dont know if downgrading works, i just reflashed the latest oreo.
accordingly to the first link it should work, just flash the TWRP from the second link and then follow the instructions from the first link.

i did sucsses to install twrp but on the second step, when i press on install on twrp, the phone restart to erocovey and failed to find the files. what am i doing wrong?
i think that i am stuck with that version forever....
if you reboot to erecovery, you have not successfully installed twrp. you have to install it with "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk <path to twrp>"

Bricked, no TWRP access, any ideas?
Hi.
I know this about a P10, I have a P10 Plus (VKY-L29C605), but the process should be similar, I think.
I bricked my phone after succesfully upgrading from B174 to B321 using HWOTA. After which I decided, since I was at it, to flash the Hyperplus Kernel. This led to a bootloop. To fix it I decided to just go ahead and HWOTA B321 all over again and get over it, and would have probably gone just fine, except I decided to rebrand (C605 > C432) while I was doing that, silly (no, stupid) mistake. This led to the brick I am currently expriencing, I have no recovery access, erecovery or TWRP.
So now I am left trying to unbrick the phone. I extracted the UPDATE.APP for both update_all_hw.zip and update.zip using the Huawei Extractor Tool with no difficulty, except unbricking methods ask for boot.img, which I could not find, so I went along without it and flashed: cust.img, recovery_ramdisk.img (using fastboot recovery_ramdisk command for Oreo), and system.img. All of the commands completed succesfully, but no shebang, still bricked and no recovery access. I figure this has to do with the rebrand as the result after executing the command "fastboot getvar vendorcountry" shows the rebrand pulled through (hw/eu 432).
I am currently downloading HWOTA8.zip (3GB worth of download) to see if I can do something it. I am also downloading the L29C432B360 OTA-FULL, since I believe I am not getting any progress becuase I used the updates for L29C605B321.
The kind people at funkyhuawei told me they could fix it with their tool, but I don't have the money for that right now.
I will post updates, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Many of us have posted over this in the last couple of days. Seems like Funky Huawei unbrick tool was the mehtod to get it work for me. You could try that!
or use dc-phoenix for me it worked (= in the moment i try to capture the usb ports kommunikation so i have the tool with the aktual firmware longer for 3 days :silly:
would first give dc a try 20 bucks for 3 days is ok i think (=

Must download some software for your phone, unzip update.zip, decompile UPDATE.APP to .iso files, (like recovery.iso, system, iso, vendor iso, boot iso) use fastboot and 10 minuts job, I brik my device over 10 thimes, and repair it.
So I was able to get the C432B360 firmware and I flashed it, but no I can't enter recovery mode because the battery is low (red lightning bolt/red led flash). Anybody know how to charge or force recovery mode boot from fastboot?
If anyone needs, can use my DC-Phoenix account, I don`t need it anymore.

Deleted OS

Hey guys,
I was trying to unlock my phone and install a custom ROM so I installed TWRP and everything was going smooth until I tried installing a custom ROM. In TWRP I hit "Install" and click the zip file for the ROM I want (PureNexus) and it says "Invalid zip file format! Error installing zip file '/sdcard/PureNexus.zip"
Does anyone know what the problem is? I can't figure this out. This is the first time I'm doing anything from the bootloader so I'm a bit of a newb. I would be fine going back to stock everything if it means my phone will turn on. I tried installing the official image from google (7.1.1) and I get the same zip error.
So where I'm at is I do not have an OS installed on but I do have access to TWRP. In the command prompt on my desktop it recognizes my phone when I type 'adb devices' but it doesn't do anything when I type 'fastboot devices'.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm scared.
Okay, so I figured out what fastboot was and I was able to install Google's 7.1.1 stock image using the command prompt. I was freaking out for a few hours and even though I didn't get the custom ROM I wanted I'm really happy I didn't brick my phone. I've never done anything like this on my phone so it was a fun learning experience
I'm still curious what I did wrong and why TWRP couldn't unzip any of the zip files (PureNexus, Google Stock, etc). If anyone knows I'm still interested in learning what I did wrong.

TWRP: wrong version or damaged;
ZIP: damaged or incomplete download.
Latest version TWRP is 3.2.1.0.

Yes, and the Google factory image isn't meant to be flashed that way. I guess the Google OTA image might be flashed from TWRP, but I haven't tried it.
TWRP will flash an image (. img) file if you set it to by tapping the img button. If you don't have that set and try to flash an image it will error. If you have it set to img and try to flash a zip it will also error.
1. Unlock the bootloader.
2. Install the latest TWRP recovery.
3. Wipe.
4. Install the required ROM.
To go back to stock firmware, just download the relevant factory firmware zip, extract it and run the script. I think a readme file is provided in the zip explaining how to go about it.
Cheers! Happy New Year!

Question Need help, TWRP shows no rom

Hi everyone, I really need some help. Took my phone to I.T shop to have it unlocked and EU rom stable put on. I got my phone back with TWRP on it saying no rom. I know nothing about this kind of thing and now I am stuck. Is there someone who can fix this remotely for me?? Thanks in advance
In twrp Click install and Check in the download folder in case it's not in the root folder, if there is no ROM there you could fix it yourself by flashing the last fastboot ROM from a bat file or cmd line
i think it was 12.5.5 or something like that and then you can update to EU 12.5.12 stable via twrp
AND NEVER USE THAT SHOP AGAIN LOL

Thanks for your reply. Could this be done remotely. I really have no idea how to do any of this stuff which is why i first went to a shop. Im happy to pay for a good outcome
Anyone who flashes ROMs could do it in a few minutes via team viewer or something.... But it maybe beneficial to learn for yourself
It's really simple, you've already done the hardest part if you've unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp
Just put the phone in fastboot mode and then plug into PC and click on the bat file
Download: MIUI 12 stable update rolling out to several Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices
MIUI 12 stable builds have begun rolling out to several Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices. Head on over for Recovery ROM and Fastboot ROM download links!
www.xda-developers.com
Select your phone and download the MIUI stock ROM. (Do NOT extract it.)
Boot into Twrp and wipe and factory reset.
Move the miui stock rom to the phone.
Select flash and select the zip file.
Swipe to flash
Then download and flash(move to phone, flash) the 'ARM64 Android 11' Gapps(Google apps) https://opengapps.org/
Then reboot.
All data will be lost. If you want to keep your photos and videos, before doing everything, go to twrp , connect the phone to a pc, and move the 'Dcim' folder to the computer side.
If you have a working TWRP, just use it to flash latest EU version, format data, reboot system. Done.
Then if you want to go back to a stock ROM, flash it via fastboot or twrp depending on the ROM format you download.

If he's stuck in twrp how can he download a ROM to flash? I don't think you can transfer files to a phone that doesn't have a ROM to flash via twrp
Fastboot first from a PC cmd maybe the only way to get started
He is asking someone else to do the process he doesn't know anything about these things (and I don't understand why buying a phone to make things like this if not capable). Anyway go on YouTube and check people doing the process, I don't think is difficult watching a guy and copy what he is doing
I am replying to close this thread. He contacted me over telegram. I took a look at his phone and the phone is not being detected in fastboot mode on his pc. Maybe hard bricked or in edl mode. Also his twrp is not accessible. So i suggested him to contact the edl guy and he fixed the phone.
So ask mods to close this thread?

I know it's closed as such but in twrp, I can copy files from pc to phone. He could have done the same. BTW, I'm using the very first twrp that many wouldn't install but my phone is recognised in Windows while in recovery. This might help someone else

Question Help flashing from PC

Hey guys, so I somehow soft bricked my Redmi Note 10 Pro by clean flashing LineageOS and now I'm somehow dumbfounded at how to flash stock from my PC. I used to root stuff a few years back and I don't remember it being this frustrating. Multiple guides state to download the ROM linked and then run this command from the extracted zip: '/windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat'.
The thing is there are no .bat files in any of the ROMs I've downloaded, even when they're the specific file that has been linked in the threads telling me to use the .bat file.
If somebody could please help I would really appreciate it. This is incredibly frustrating and I need to get my phone working.

Same here. I watched all tutorials and how tos I could find, but I can't flash the rom. I eventually flash an EU rom using ADB Sideload and it did flash, but the rom never booted. So I flashed lineage.
I hope some of the more experienced users could help us. It's frustrating to say the least lol

You'll have to download fastboot rom for this device. It'll be in tgz format. When you'll extract that tgz file you'll get a gz file. You'll have to extract that gz file and you'll get the rom folder.
In that folder you'll find a file flash_all.bat. You'll have to connect phone to pc in fastboot mode and run that file as administrator.
After flash is complete the command prompt will close and device should take approximately 15-20 minutes for first boot.

First boot takes time. Did you format data after flashing EU ROM? If formatting data wasn't possible in recovery then fastboot erase userdata command might have worked.
Thank you. I was able to get it to work.
I use CyanogenMOD/LineageOS since Android 1.6 and I have never experienced a such PITA like in flashing this phone. I hate that
Agree.. Was using Redmi note 7 pro (violet) earlier and it was so easy modding the phone, with simple steps..
What was the issue here? I had issues with TWRP.
