Google Play Problems - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, has anyone encountered problems updating or downloading apps through the google play store? Mine doesn't download or update apps for some reason. It stuck on "downloading". My phone is tencent version flashed/fingerprint WW, software version 1907.33. I'm wondering updating to 1907.35 will solve this problem or is it just Google Play app?
I've tried clearing the cache and reinstall but doesn't solve the problem.

Asus ROG Phone 2
Yes unfortunately I have tried every suggestion know to man to resolve the Google Play Store Stopped Working issue and nothing worked. I factory reset the phone 3 times, had the bios and firmware flashed and nothing worked. I ended up returning the device for a full refund through Amazon. My best advice is run. Something in the software is corrupt.

Mine got stuck aswell. It would download half or less of the app and then hangs stuck. But I managed to fix my problem by running the mobile manager and ran both RAM cleaning and cache. After that Google play store worked again.

Is this only with the tenchen version or even on the global Strix version to?

So far, no problems found with Google Play and I have the tencent version too, the only difference I see between yours and mine is the fingerprint version which is CN

Not sure if it's the same issue, but since android 9 on thie and another phone, I've intermittently had the same problem.
It seems to be related to the play store wanting to update itself, and for some reason with my disabling of play books, docs etc, and with my withdrawing of certain permissions from some of the gapps it just wouldn't do it.
Try reenabling any stock gapps which have been disabled, and in the reset options in settings, select "reset app preferences". After that, reboot your phone.
That's worked for me in similar situations previously.

[Q] Google Play Error 403 after factory reset [MOVE REQUESTED]

Edit: To mod: If possible, please move this thread to a non device specific subforum, as people with different devices are experiencing the same problem.
So today I decided to factory reset my HTC One, and install back some applications I had previously.
However, after the factory reset I am unable to either install or update any application, with the Google Play Store returning: ""{app}" could not be downloaded due to an error. (403)".
I've been looking around a bit and have seen quite some others with this issue, however no solutions have worked for me. What I've tried:
Logged into Hangouts and confirmed mobile number.
Removed Google account in settings --> Go to Apps>All> and force stop Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager, then clear cache and data for each --> Added back Google account --> Restarted device (without launching Google Play Store).
Using a new gmail account.
Clearing Proxy: I've looked in my Wi-Fi and APN Settings, both of which have no proxy set to begin wit.
Using 3G instead of Wi-Fi.
Another factory reset (repeated other steps afterwards).
Installing apps onto my device from my PC (it won't attempt to install them on the phone).
Please note my phone is not rooted and I'm not planning on rooting my phone any time soon.
Thanks in advance,
Errors4l.

Interesting, this is happening to me also after a factory reset of my HTC One. Tried all of the above, my phone too is not rooted however the bootloader is unlocked.

Yeah I've encountered quite some threads of people having this problem with the HTC One, however their solutions have not worked for me. Hoping someone can bring an answer to this thread
Yea it just seems unusual that it has happened to us pretty much at the same time under the same circumstances, maybe there is some issue with the store rather than our devices, I hope so!
Having exactly the same problem, tried everything. Even got a new handset because of the original issue which caused me to perform the factory reset. Maybe a problem with Google Play?
Hey guys!
I did a factory reset on my LG Swift L9 today
and also can't download any app from Google Play
due to 403. It may not be related to HTC One only.

I've got a new Nexus 5 delivered to me hours ago, first time using it and i can confirm the same sadly, hopefully it will be resolved soon !
What would be the quickest way to alert a mod so that the thread can be moved to a non device specific forum?
Hi all,
Picked up a Nexus 7 today - it was initially loaded with an old build of Android (Blue connectivity bars not white etc) and everything seemed to be working fine. Notification popped up for me to install the latest version, so I stopped what I was doing, got it installed and I'm now stuck with the same 403 errors as everyone else.
Looks to me like a Play Store issue but damn infuriating seeing as I can't even put any basic apps on my shiny new Nexus.
Noticed on another forum earlier that someone was having the same issue, and a guy responded saying he'd returned his Galaxy Tab to the store it came from today (Curry's, I think?) and after the staff there contacted Samsung - they were told that it was an issue with the Play Store. No obvious citations of course, but seems pretty legit what with everything else going on.
And now we wait...

I changed the title and inserted a request in the first post, hope it'll get noticed faster this way by a moderator
(Not so) sorry for double post.
I just tried again, without making any changes to my phone, and I just downloaded 3 different apps (2 I had previously, 1 new one).
Need a confirmation if the problem is solved for other people (with different devices) before I request a close.
Yeah, it works for me too now!

Nope, still 403'ing over here. But I'll keep checking in case it's gradually being fixed.
Still getting errors here too.
403 =/
I'm glad it's not just me.
I tried resetting/clearing everything thinking it was my phone cos I just recently rooted and flashed this brand spanking new HTC One (it was a replacement for my broken HTC One that had a working store :crying, until I went ahead and Googled this annoying error.
Seems like it's a problem on the Google end! =/
Get same error, tried RUU reset and ViperOne ROM.
Still 403 error! Very annoying
Spent 2 hours or so messing installing cyanogen on my new nexus and thought I'd ****ed up. Then googled it. I can believe it, talk about bad timing. lol
Looks like we are not alone...

[Q] Play Store not working after OS update. (ME70CX)

My son has this tablet, and he asked me to put a new game on it yesterday. When I opened up the Play Store nothing would load. The Store acted like the tablet had no network connection, but I was able to use the browser and tried a different network as well.
I manually updated the Play store to v5.2
Tried rebooting
The only thing that is any different is that I just performed the firmware update to 4.4.2 (I think).
Has anyone else seen an issue like this? I really don't want to wipe and start over if I can help it.
After further playing around it seems that not all was ok with the OS update. The tablet turns itself off when sleeping for more than 5 minutes or so as well as the Play store issue.

Android Auto stopped working

I have been using android auto for the past 3-4 weeks flawlessly. However in the last day when I plug my phone in I now get the red page stating this device cannot work with android auto on the phone. I have tried everything from reinstalling the android auto app/clearing cache/data and the same for google play services to factory resetting the phone. Has anyone else encountered this? does anyone have any ideas?
Phone: Nexus 6, stock, never rooted, never unlocked
Headunit: Pioneer AVIC8100NEX
Edit: I've been messing around with this, I am starting to suspect the 7.3.29 update to google play services is the culprit. downgrading to 7.0.99 seems to make it work up until the google play service updates itself automatically. I've tried connecting the phone in airplane mode to prevent this but android auto doesn't launch at all when the phone is in airplane mode.
Send a bug report.

Better send a bug report to Google and the Android Auto support team. After I took that update I had some problems with other devices, not sure where but there is a list of devices and applications that have switches to allow/not allow them and all of them were switched to off. Had to turn many of them back on for me to get any information from them. Don't know about the AA application. I have not used it much because there is no Pandora Radio support yet and I have not had to go on any long trips so all I've needed was the voice navigation from Google maps on my phone. Hoping Pandora gets added soon, then it will be all I ever use.

7.3.29 is installed on my Nexus6, with the same HU, and I have no problems. Have you updated the avic8100NEX's firmware to 1.0.3?
Yea, I updated to 1.03 the first day I got it installed. There seems to be some people with a similar issue, and others dont experience it at all.
I started a post over at androidcentral http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...y-states-device-cannot-work-android-auto.html
Two others chimed in with the same problem. Started about the same time google play servivce update rolled out. But if that is the problem then I am at a loss why only a few of us are having this problem.
Yeah, I think the update caused issues on some devices. I tested with 6 different phones the other day. HTC One M8 w/ CM12 seems OK, as does MotoG stock or CM12, and I think GS2 w/ 5.1 ROM. GS3 was among the problem devices.
I see a permissions problem in the logcat; Google's own Android Auto app can't get the permissions it needs.
I'm not positive this is all directly related though.
What build of Android?

You nailed the nail on the head...
I think I've figured it out. It definitely is the google play services update 7.3.29 on a N6 running Android 5.0.1. I can out my SIM and block google play through my home firewalls then downgrade to 7.0.99 and it works flawlessly. I then manually updated to Android 5.1.0 with google play services 7.3.29 and it also works flawlessly. So my recommendation is to manually apply the 5.1 update. I just tried to go back to 5.0.1 and once 7.3.29 services come down it no longer works. And went back to 5.1 and it works again. Definitely an issue with 5.0.1 and google play services 7.3.29 combination.
All of this testing was done with factory images, the only non factory application installed was android auto. all partitions on the device were formatted prior to applying system images.

This also worked for me. I was so confused as to why my Nexus 6 all of a sudden didn't work with Android Auto... I was running 5.0.1 with the updated Google Play Services 7.3.29 (auto updated). Switched to a ROM with 5.1 and it works again. Thanks!

Google Play Services Bug

I've noticed a problem-bug in my P20 Pro It comes out in only one application so far, I fix it and it only returns if I turn off and on my mobile or reboot it.
I do not know if it's Oreo or P20, but when i open it, it says "Google Services are updating". To do so, I do remove Google Play Services and then update it to the latest version.
Any ideas?
Got the same issue and I think there are more people out there with that issue. I've read about people not being able to see the map in several apps. I have this same issue in telegram for example and it says play services are updating..
Here is a workaround for it.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/how-to/maps-app-t3788290
It's a pretty serious bug. I use uber a lot, at least I did before I got the P20 Pro.
If it's not fixed in the update I may have to consider selling it. That's if an update ever materialises of course!
Here some people with the same problem -> https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/play/xfLz_9emKs0
would be good if can disable the app from auto-updating so left with a working version
Hey guys,
I posted a thread about this a while back and someone the other day replied with the reason why, at least it confirmed why mine wasn't working.
I opted in for the beta play services, which some of you might have too. The beta is not yet functional with the P20 Pro and we can't expect it to be functional because it's a beta version and stable releases exist.
I suggest leaving the beta and reinstalling the app, that's fixed the issue for me even after multiple reboots.

I don't appear to be in the beta program. Which version of Play Services are you running now?
I noticed many reviews of Play Services on the store complains about all kinds of other apps being broken now, no idea if they are all Huawei users or if it's a more general issue with the current version.

Same version as I mine. I haven't noticed it updating so it's presumably the one that caused me issues until I cleared the data. I haven't tried a reboot since - sounds from some of the other reports that it might trigger the problems again. If so I can try a reinstall of Play Services.
I had the same issue. All I did was clear the cache from settings -- Apps -- Google Play Services -- Clear cache. Worked fine so far, no more issues.

seems to be a pretty big issue. deleting the app data helps for a few hours, but it comes back. i have an honor 8 and started getting really drastic battery drain and weird wifi issues, along with the google services are updating message. apparently google is working on it. it's 79405933 on issue tracker.
This is getting really infuriating.
Clearing data does sort it, but only temporarily. Also, I have a Wear watch, and clearing data wipes the connection, and it's a PITA to reconnect it without resetting the watch.
Issue is fixed. Please update to New google play services v. 12.6.85.
This is still not working for me , Maps works and is smooth and fine for in car nav etc
But Ingress does not .
I have gone from 12.6.85 to 12.6.88 beta , but that has not fixed the issue.
Ingress lags massively , you cannot really play it
"GPS Test" app show a excellent GPS signal and locked on , yet ingress will take about 30sec -2mins to show up as connected
Then as you move it will be stuck on the last location , tried lots of in game options , nothing seems to help a min later or so it will jump and stick at another location.
Anyone else running Ingress ok ?
Note when I got the phone ingress worked fine, I had to update and reset data to remove that play services updating error in other apps, like TheSchoolApp

Question Updated "Foundation" in Fox's Mmm and seemingly destroyed all Google based applications. Further screw ups ensued.

I'm on OneUI 4.1, Android 12, Kernel version 5.10.43 on a non cellular Tab S8. I noticed recently that my root cloaking modules weren't doing a great job, as I couldn't seem to get into a Dynasty Warriors app I'd downloaded, it simply wouldn't download the content in game. So I went and updated literally everything in my Fox app. I noticed immediately that Google Play Services was crashing repeatedly. So I uninstalled the module. This lead to my tablet saying Magisk is not installed. So I re-downloaded and re-installed Magisk. I turned Foundation back on, that didn't fix anything. It may even have just broken it more for all I know. I did notice that when it was off though, that my internet would not connect to my wifi automatically anymore.
So I downloaded a bunch of different versions of Google Play Services and Play Store to try to get one that matched. Of course, I had to use Lucky Patcher to uninstall the current broken versions. Eventually, it settled in on:
com.google.android.gms_23.17.15_(190400-534251769)-231715044_minAPI31(arm64-v8a,armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
This seemingly fixed my issue. But I had some other problems. The useless intent filter was still crashing. My OS seemed less stable as it restarted at least once for seemingly no reason, notifications for apps sorta just didn't show up sometimes even when I changed app settings to stop it from trying to save battery life, and the moment I minimized an app, it would need to reload once I put it back up. Didn't matter which app.
So I decided that I would attempt to get rid of Foundation again. I mean, I already had working versions of the apps. So I probably don't need it right? I figured since it installed weird versions of the old ones in the first place, it might be causing my issues.
This was a bad idea, because I had to try to reinstall Magisk again, which failed, but it didn't matter because Fox started saying I'm rooted again anyway after a reboot. So I turned it back on, and proceeded to reinstall the same Google Services APK. Except now it wasn't working.
I then spelunked the internet to try and find a solution, someone mentioned uninstalling Services, Play Store, AND Framework, then reinstalling. So I've now tried several versions, particularly of Framework 12 and around the time period I bought my tablet, but Gmail still gives me the error "Gmail needs Google Services to run, your device does not support Google Services." I tried a couple versions of 11 too and I even tried using Lucky Patcher to install specifically as system, but it seems like it doesn't matter much whether I install them via package installer or Lucky Patcher. I've also attempted to manually enable permissions for both Services and Framework to no avail.
My main goal is fixing this without losing my data, which I assume is exactly what would happen if I flashed a new rom. So I'm hoping somebody has an idea of what could be done here. In the meantime, I will continue trouble shooting.
(Additionally, I can't seek to get any version of Fox above 1.0.3 or so to work without it saying something crashed and asking me to report it to the dev.)
Update:
Google Play Services stopped repeatedly crashing when I installed:
com.google.android.gms_23.22.15_(190400-538334167)-232215044_minAPI31(arm64-v8a,armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk)
However, it still says my device is unsupported.
