[Q] Unable to install on galaxy note 2

I've Samsung galaxy note 2. Updated to 4.4.2. Rooted. Response screen of root checker attached for reference.
When I try to install the framework on clicking the apk file, the installer starts and shows the warning messages. However, the install button at the bottom does not click - seems to be disabled. The cancel button cancels the process. Screen shot is attached for reference.
I've enabled unknown sources under security. I've tried with stopping and disabling the anti virus programmes - Avast and AVG.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Vikas Garud.

the problem is not for framework installer but an App that control screen display.
solution is kill any App with a simple task manager before launch installation Apk.
it's tested, I have a note2
Which app?
Thanks fixfast.
I'm pretty sure that the framework works on Note 2!
Where should I start looking for "Apps that control the screen"? Don't all Apps control screen in some manner?
I may be wrong, but I doubt if its an app controlling screen is causing the problem. Only the "Install" button is disabled, the "Cancel" button is working fine. So installation of the apk is disabled, even though I've enabled unknown sources under security.
I've taken this question to general Note 2 help thread as I realised that this problem is only not with Xposed installer apk, but other apk's as well. I don't know when this behaviour started as I have installed apk's in the past.
Any pointers on how to proceed?
Thanks,
Vikas Garud
SOLVED
Thanks everybody. "Copy Bubble" APP was the culprit. After disabling it, the install button was enabled.
Incidentally, I searched for "Screen Filter" in play store. This APP was not in the search results.

Installation Issue on Note 2
Gents,
I've another issue installing Xposed by its installer.
I have a galaxy note 2 (GT-N7100) rooted (Super Su Free version), with TWRP recovery.
After running the installer the attached message appeared.
I tried to change the permissions of the /systme/bin manually by root explorer but failed.
Would appreciate your support.
Up!
Gents,
How could I install a recovery .zip version of Xposed Framework 2.6.1 ?
Can someone help me plz.

Alternative to installing Better Battery Stats as system app

Starting with Android 4.4 (KitKat) Better Battery Stats (BBS) require installation as system app to be able to collect the stats.
BBS must re re-installed as system app after each ROM upgrade (upgrade that does not preserve third party system apps).
I have found an alternative to this - the required permissions can be granted to BBS when it is installed as a regular user app by running these commands in Android Terminal (or ADB shell session):
Code:
su
pm grant com.asksven.betterbatterystats android.permission.BATTERY_STATS
pm grant com.asksven.betterbatterystats android.permission.DUMP
After using these commands it might be required to restart BBS process (e.g. reboot the device). Permissions granted this way will be preserved across ROM upgrades (even across those completely overwriting /system partition).
This has been tested on CyanogenMod 12.1 nightlies (Android 5.1.1).
Update! This post on BBS thread describes a related method for granting (at least part of) the permissions without root.
Hi DavisNT,
I'm confirming that your adb code appears to be a successful workaround for the normal version of BBS downloaded from the Play Store when the phone is running Lollipop. I'm running the paid version of BBS, on the current CM12.1 Nightly (jfltetmo for my T-Mobilr SGH-M919 Galaxy S4).
Procedure:
1. Install BBS from the Play Store.
2. Use ADB (easy to cut and paste from here) or another terminal program (you'll be typing) to install the code.
3. Reboot the phone.
You'll notice that when you launch BBS, CM's "Privacy Guard" will see that BBS is trying to gain root access, and will prompt you to allow this. I selected "Always Allow" until I'm done my battery testing. You'll notice that you now see "#" up on the phone's status bar. That indicates an app is running with root access. You could probably quiescence this by choosing "Ignore" via Privacy Guard.
Could the developer please approve that this relatively easy workaround is kosher?
Thanks . . .
Moved to main thread to avoid orphan
For apk downloaded from xda change the code to
pm grant com.asksven.betterbatterystats_xdaedition android.permission.BATTERY_STATS
pm grant com.asksven.betterbatterystats_xdaedition android.permission.DUMP
I tried this method, but failed on the BATTERY_STATS permission, the error said this 'permission type is not changeable'
is this method still valid?

On what version of Android did this fail? And was 'su' used before 'pm grant'?
Same problem. I'm on CM, Android version 4.4.4. Used 'su' before.

Most likely this method works only on Lollipop and Marshmallow.
Looks like on KitKat BATTERY_STATS permission does not have development in its protectionLevel, but on Lollipop and Marshmallow it has.
I assume (please correct me if I am wrong, preferably with link to some authoritative documentation) that development in protectionLevel allows a permission to be granted by pm grant command.
Thanks
I can confirm that this method works flawlessly for the Sprint version of the Galaxy Note 3 5.0. Many thanks.
Guys where is the main thread? Pls ?

Can anyone post BBS apk please!! TQIA
Thanks dude. The command for xdaedition worked flawlessly on my RR rom. Android 6.0.1 Galaxy S3
Worked! Thanks.
Does this works on a non-rooted phone? if it works, is uninstalling as simple as accessing app under setting to uninstall?
Thanks.

AFAIK This method should NOT work on non-rooted phones (but you can still try it :fingers-crossed: ). If it will work, uninstalling the app (via Settings - Applications) would also revoke the granted permissions.
Original Thread here: http://bit.ly/1ov1NNy
Can confirm that the workaround is OK on Samsung S6 with Android 6.0.1 (stock DTM/rooted).
Best regards
Glad I found this, thought BBS was bugged when it kept wanting the BATTERY_STAT permission despite having the XPosed module :\
Executing those 2 lines fixed the problem.... wonder why it's not like that by default. I even checked AppOpsXposed and didn't see anything about DUMP/BATTERY_STAT
Installing BBS into /system would break OTA, no? I've read somewhere the claim that it doesn't--maybe even in the app itself

Worked but suddenly: no stats have been collected yet

I'm on the S7 edge and the app worked without problem but suddenly once after restart all I get is "no stats have been collected yet", not just with bbs but gsam battery monitor.
The app also has superuser rights. What could be the issue?
I also have this issue. On Pixel 7.1.2 May 2017, everything works, but on Nexus 6P 7.1.2 May 2017,it shows "no stats have been collected yet" on the alarm page. I'm on 2.2.2.0 (not beta I think), and I tried to clear data, but no effect.
Any work around?
Same problem here. Exactly the same, and I would very much suspect the problem was caused by the new busybox updated earlier. Still try to figure out.
same prob. anyone solved this?
I'm having the same problem. I'm on Pixel 8, non root, just using it via APIs. Worked until about a month ago.
Same issue here. Was working up until a few hours ago. Now I'm getting the same message.
Me too. LeEco pro 3 with AICP 7.1.2.
I'm having same problem, zenity rr 7.1.2 on op3
same here on last android O preview, nexus 6p.
i think it started when switched from supersu to magisk root...
Same problem.
My phone is being kept awake but BBS is unable to report the Alarm stats ("No stats have been collected yet"). Was using Magisk earlier and was informed this was the reason, so switched to phh's superuser and still the same.
Do I have to use supersu for this?
How do you still "hide" root for legit apps, but still ensure BBS is able to accurately report all necessary stats?
Using a Nexus 6p with CarbonROM and Electron kernel, tried latest Magisk 13.3 and phh superuser.
Same problem here and no idea how to fix this.... Using the payed Play Store version.
Anyone make any progress on this? I get this message on the summary and partial wakelocks pages. I've tried installing as system app and tried doing the root commands from the terminal. I'm considering using the Xposed module to get batter stats.
I installed the app today, and it was working fine. I reset for an unrelated reason, and it now says "no stats have been collected yet". I've only heard good things about this app, but it doesn't seem stable if it breaks after a reset? Reinstalling the app doesn't seem to help.
I guess no love for us here. When the app works its awesome but it seems to throw this error more times than not.
I just switched from SuperSu to Magisk and flashed a custom kernel (Franco) on my OnePlus 3T with the stock OOS. I'm now seeing this "No stats have been collected yet" message.
having the same problem here, on magisk and also installed as system app. No responses?
Same here work with s4 rr magisk and xposed install and not with op5 same configuration
I'm was having the "no stats have been collected yet" on the partial wakelocks page and managed to fix it today. I'm using a Pixel XL on Stock Oreo with Magisk beta and the ElementalX kernel.
Disclaimer: I'm not an experienced Android dev, not my fault if this breaks your device, try at your own risk.
Here's what worked for me to get stats back:
Install the App Systemizer module from Magisk Manager (it's in downloads), don't reboot
Install the attached ZIP as a Magisk module, don't reboot
Systemize BetterBatteryStats with the App Systemizer companion app
Reboot
The attached ZIP is a modified version of the Privileged Permission Whitelist module template. I added all the permissions BBS requested into the XML file - feel free to inspect the ZIP and modify it for yourself if you don't need/want to give Greenify or F-Droid system permissions.
Thanks to @yochananmarqos and @stangri for writing the modules that made this possible!

I updated my Privileged Permission Whitelist module to support the Play Store version and the XDA Edition.
yochananmarqos said:
Would you believe I didn't notice BetterBatteryStats was missing permissions? :silly: I thought it was no longer necessary as the How-to & FAQ in the main BBS thread states it does not require the system app anymore.
However, it turns out (at least on Oreo) it is still necessary. I noticed these two required permissions are not being granted:
android.permission.DUMP
android.permission.READ_LOGS
You can verify the permissions are granted (or not) by going to BBS Settings > Advanced > Install as system app.
I updated the module to support the Play Store version and the XDA Edition. Download in the OP.
@chamonix The above permissions will also need to be granted via adb for those running BBS on a non-rooted device.
Thanks to @kd- for figuring this out :good:

Does this mean it's impossible to get BBS working on unrooted Oreo? I tried granting all these permissions via ADB and it still didn't work. Using a Sony XZ1 compact with locked bootloader.

Question Access denied popup

I'm using a rooted S21 Ultra. I'm on stock android.
It's been rooted for 1.5 years and there were no issues. A couple of months ago the attached popup started to appear. I press ok and it goes away. This can happen between once every 2-3 days to a couple times a day.
There were no significant changes on the device when this started, so I have no idea what caused this to appear.
On my searches I read that it could be the Samsung Health app, so I I installed it, but that didn't help. I guess it's another Samsung app? But which?
Right now I'm running A13, but this started a couple of months back when I was running A12. The upgrade didn't change that.
Any leads on this?

A number of Samsung apps will check for root/Knox status, and since Knox is hardware based (i.e. trip it once, and it's tripped forever), even if you return to complete stock, these apps won't work.
It's mainly the apps whose data security heavily depends on the phone's root status (even if it's currently unrooted, it's been 'compromised'), so Samsung Health, Secure Folder, etc. are the main culprits for such a message. However it's possible that Samsung added a system-level check that causes the pop-up.

I will clarify again. My phone was rooted for about 16 months before this message showed up. It's been rooted 1.5 years and the message is here for 2 months. This is what I meant when I said no significant changes before the message appeared.
I have the same problem when I first bought the phone, I rooted it, then I unrooted it, but because knox was triggered, android 12 was not coming out, so it started to appear after I made the CSC change. android 13 e upgrade
Someone had a discussion on this link last month, so I wrote it, but no one answered.
How to fix "Access denied" screen randomly appearing on rooted devices
A couple of days ago my S21 Ultra running G998BXXS5CVIF automatically opened an "Access denied" screen. It was impossible to show which app cause it as it disappeared once you got to the app switcher menu. Access denied Unauthorized changes...

For rooted
Delete System/priv-app/DigitalKey + uninstall update
OR
Execute this from terminal
Code:
adb shell
su
pm hide com.samsung.android.dkey
For unrooted
You can try disable appears on top permission for digital key app
The phone is not rooted, is there a non-rooted solution? @dr.ketan ?
Can you explain in more detail what programs should be used to do what you wrote?
